By Joshua Creech - We will finish up looking at the baptismal process by digging into the symbolism behind the water immersion and the laying on of hands. By looking at the entire process, we see how much meaning God has put behind the process. It is something that should be very special to each of us.
Have you ever heard a well-known teacher or a close friend share a new revelation they claimed came from God, but something about it made you feel uncomfortable or unsure? You couldn't determine exactly why, but a warning signal went off in your spirit, alerting you that something wasn't right. In The Foundational Doctrines of Christ, Pastor Greg Mohr reveals the importance of being firmly rooted in six key doctrines clearly outlined in Scripture. These biblical truths are essential for every believer, as they help you discern and eliminate false teachings. When you understand and apply these foundational doctrines, you'll not only be equipped to recognize and resist deception, but you'll also be positioned to receive God's guidance and strength to fulfill His calling and purpose for your life.
Pastor Alex reminded us of a foundational principle in the Christian life that isn't as prevalent today. Paul describes the laying on of hands as an elementary principle of our faith, yet many believers don't know about it or see it practiced in our churches. And yet, it's something God has established from the beginning. We see the laying on of hands throughout both the Old Testament and the New. When it is practiced, we see power, impartation, and God directly calling and appointing leaders, no matter how small the role may seem. May we be zealous to be used by the Lord, to receive spiritual gifts, and to walk fully in the call of God!

More on Ulla's opinion (based on Resh Lakish) that partial entry is akin to a complete entry - when it comes to an impure person and the Temple. In the context of "semihah" - laying hands on the animal - needing to be done in the same place as the slaughtering of the animal, usually without interruption (though of course our case is an exception). Note the distance between the gate of Nikanor and its relevance for the person with tzara'at. And note the effort involved for this laying on off hands - beyond just reaching out one's hand and touching the animal. Also, the impure person who handles the sacrificial, consecrated food - will he get lashes or not? (that's the ongoing machloket between Resh Lakish and R. Yochanan)
If we, as His people, refuse to lay hands on the sick world that is outside our four walls, how will they ever receive His healing touch? Today, I believe that as we pray and lay hands on those who are willing, God will do what His Word has promised He will move. As He touches you and imparts His Spirit's power, that blessing is not meant to stop with you. You are called to pass it on lay hands on those around you so that what you have received, others may also receive.

POWER THAT PERSUADES (PART 7) | PASTOR MARK BOER | AUGUST 10, 2025 The laying on of hands isn't just a formality—it's one of the ways God chooses to move. Scripture shows it again and again as a vital channel for God's work. But what if your heart is closed? What if the person God wants to use isn't the one you expected? Check out this message from Pastor Mark Boer to understand the true power behind the laying on of hands.

It's no accident. This powerful act reveals something profound: God's deep love for humanity and His desire for us to care for one another. In the Old Testament, eight of the Ten Commandments focus on how we treat each other—only two speak directly to our relationship with God. That tells us something important: God values how we show His love to others. When someone you love is hurting—physically, emotionally, or spiritually—God doesn't want you to feel helpless. He has called and equipped you to minister healing. And the laying on of hands is one of the ways that supernatural power flows through us. This week, I want to help you step into that calling. You can minister to your friends, your spouse, your children—right where you are. Join me as we unlock the power of personal ministry through the Laying On of Hands—and discover just how deeply God wants to work through you.
