Why is it that Christians can be so easily drawn into hedonism, escapism or activism? In this passage Jesus tells us how we should live while we wait for his return, and how knowing about the events of AD70 can help us
Matthew 24:15-51 | 1 February 2026
There is a sense where every Christian ought to be living with such a profound confidence in the future that their current joys far outweigh any of their current sufferings. There is a reason men imprisoned for their faith sing hymns of praise in their shackles. In fact, what we so easily lose sight of, the nature around us never forgets. A Day is coming when all things will be made right and the entire cosmos will see the Lord has His people.
In the fourth session of our Return of Christ Conference, Pastor Maiola calls us to develop a ready faith - a faith that actively prepares for the return of Jesus Christ rather than passively waiting or becoming distracted by speculation. He reminds believers that the purpose of end-times teaching is not curiosity about signs, but transformation of life. Paul's instruction to the church in Thessalonica makes clear that readiness for Christ's return is expressed through obedience, sanctification, and faithful living. Readiness is not found in staring into the sky, abandoning responsibilities, or disengaging from the world, but in faithfully obeying Christ in everyday life. Maiola emphasizes that true faith produces real fruit. Salvation is not merely intellectual belief or simply praying the sinner's prayer, but a life-altering trust in Jesus that leads to repentance, growth, and obedience. Sanctification is God's will for every believer - a joyful process of becoming more like Christ as we prepare to meet Him. As we wait for the Lord's return, we are encouraged to live as a bride eagerly preparing for her Bridegroom—marked by holiness, love, faithfulness, and mission. As believers fix their hope on Christ's return, they are called to live awake, obedient, and ready, echoing the prayer of the early church: "Come, Lord Jesus."
In a world marked by darkness, suffering, and confusion, the return of Christ has always been a source of faith, hope, and endurance for God's people. Faith is not vague optimism but is confident trust in the sovereign, reigning, and returning King, Jesus Christ. Drawing from the testimony of persecuted believers, the witness of the early church, and the Scriptures, the message reminds us that the return of Christ is not a distant doctrine or speculative topic, but a living promise meant to shape how we endure suffering, resist fear, and remain faithful in the present age. Faith is defined not by its size, but by the greatness of its object: faith in the one true God who holds His people securely and Him who will never fail. Through powerful biblical scenes from Isaiah 6, Job 38, and Revelation 5, we are given a high and holy view of God: the One who reigns unmoved, commands creation, and alone is worthy to bring justice, redemption, and the fulfillment of all things. Jesus is revealed as both the Lion of Judah and the Lamb who was slain—the only One worthy to open the scroll and usher in God's final victory over sin, suffering, and evil. As believers fix their hope on His coming, they are invited to live lives worthy of the gospel—marked by endurance, obedience, love, and unwavering trust - until the day that our King returns in glory.
In this message on salvation, Pastor David Blevins challenges the church to move beyond shallow and incomplete views of salvation to rediscover the depth, assurance, and power found in God's redemptive work. Salvation is not merely about going to heaven, but about restored relationship, allegiance to Christ, and confident assurance rooted in who Jesus is. Pastor David unpacks three things: justification, sanctification, and glorification. Through personal testimony, Scripture, and exhortation, he calls believers to examine the security of their salvation, renew their faith in who Jesus is, and recover the longing of the early church for His return. As salvation is understood more deeply, hope overflows. This hope strengthens us as the church to endure, obey, and remain faithful as we pray, "Come, Lord Jesus."
Pastor Waxer, in his message on Salvation at the Return of Christ Conference, focuses on the Biblical hope and assurance believers have regarding the return of Jesus Christ. Romans 5 and Titus 2 presents hope not as wishful thinking, but as confident assurance. This confident assurance is gained by immersing ourselves in God's revealed truth concerning our eternal future. When believers understand God's plan, they live with peace, confidence, and stability. Waxer addresses the reality of Christ's return and final judgment, urging listeners to focus less on signs and more on readiness. We are invited to live "rapture-minded," looking for the blessed hope of Christ's appearing. Such expectancy shapes daily obedience, moral clarity, and godly living. As believers fix their eyes on the coming King, their lives become ordered, fruitful, righteous, and faithful—blessed not only in the day to come, but in the present as well.
One of the most commonly misunderstood questions in modern Christianity is: "Can I lose my salvation?" Pastor David Blevins makes a critical distinction between losing salvation unintentionally and intentionally rejecting salvation, a reality the Bible identifies as apostasy. Drawing from the Old Testament history of Israel, the warnings of Jesus, the writings of Paul, and the strong language of Hebrews 6, the message shows that apostasy is not God revoking someone's salvation, but rather people turning away from covenant loyalty to Him. Salvation is framed not as mere religious affiliation or intellectual belief, but as loyalty to the King and His Kingdom. David warns of the growing pressures of fear, deception, and false teaching in the last days. The ultimate protection against apostasy is not emotional assurance, but a faith that continues to grow into greater hope; a hope that remains captivated by salvation and actively pursues the Savior.
In the last Return of Christ Conference session, the focus turns to a hope that never disappoints. A hope anchored not in circumstances or emotion but in the unchanging promises of God. Drawing from Proverbs 13, Psalm 130, and the New Testament, Pastor Waxer reminds believers that while people and situations often let us down, God never will. Through Scripture, Biblical hope is not denial of suffering, but confident trust rooted in the faithfulness of God. Because salvation has been secured through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, believers possess a living hope - an imperishable inheritance given to us by God Himself. This hope enables us to wait, endure, and persevere, even when our present circumstances feel heavy or uncertain. Believers are called to live with expectancy, readiness, and watchfulness—not in fear or frantic anticipation, but in faithful obedience, moral clarity, and surrendered devotion. Readiness is not perfection, but presence—a heart aligned with God, hands faithfully stewarding what He has entrusted, and eyes lifted toward the coming King. This is a hope that will not let us down, as we echo the final prayer of Scripture: "Come, Lord Jesus."

In this message, Ps Lach unpacks the Parable of the Talents, challenging us to live with urgency, faithfulness, and an expansion mindset as we prepare for the return of Christ.
In this message from our The Return of Christ series, Ps Justin explores what it means to live as a ready bride, anchored in Jesus' parable of the wise and foolish virgins in Matthew 25. Drawing on the imagery of traditional Jewish marriage, this sermon invites us to examine our posture of surrender, watchfulness, and readiness as we await Christ's return — not with fear, but with faithful anticipation. When Christ returns, it will be swift and sudden. In three parables, Jesus warns believers to be prepared for His return, because there will be consequences for those who were lazy and complacent. If you do not spend the time to study His word, you are a Christian in name only. In this powerful message from Pastor Karl, we journey beyond the manger to discover the timeless roots of Christmas in the Garden of Eden. Christmas is far more than a seasonal vibe—it's the profound story of God's unchanging love, revealed through proximity, provision, and loving parameters.Drawing parallels between Eden and Bethlehem, Pastor Karl shows how God has always pursued us: walking closely with humanity, generously providing what we cannot obtain ourselves, and setting protective boundaries for our good. Yet, from the beginning, humanity has often rejected this love, doubting God's goodness and choosing our own way.The heart of the gospel shines through as Pastor Karl reminds us that even in our rejection, God's love pursues and covers us—first promised in Genesis with the crushing of the serpent's head through the seed of the woman, and perfectly fulfilled in the incarnation of Jesus, Emmanuel, "God with us."This message challenges us: Will we embrace not just the warmth of Christmas, but the weighty claims of Christmas—God's call to love Him fully with our whole heart, soul, mind, and strength through belonging to His family, becoming like Christ, giving generously, and going on mission?A stirring reminder that God's everlasting love didn't begin in Bethlehem—it was set in motion from the very beginning, for you and me.Watch all our sermons on our youtube channel "Flipside Christian Church"Join us in person 8:00am 9:30am & 11:00am every Sunday morning.37193 Ave 12 #3h, Madera, CA 93636For more visit us at flipside.churchFor more podcasts visit flipsidepodcasts.transistor.fm

The Thessalonian church was suffering, grieving, and confused about the Day of the Lord. They feared that believers who died would miss Christ's return and that judgment might fall on them when Jesus came. Paul writes 1 Thessalonians 4-5 to rebuild their hope by giving them a true understanding of Christ's return. He teaches that Jesus will return once, pubicly and victoriously, raising the dead in Christ, reuniting body and sol, and gathering all believers together. The Day of the Lord is not a threat to God's people because they are children of the light, destined not for wrath but for salvation. Therefore, Christians must live awake and sober, rembmering their identity, encouraging and building one another up, and caring for the weak and fainthearted. The final destination of Christian hope is life with Jesus forever, where every tear is wiped away and all suffering ends. The return of Jesus gives believers unshakable hope for today and until the day He returns.

They told you to wait for heaven. To look to the clouds for salvation. But what if the return of Christ was never about a man descending from the skybut about you awakening from within? This episode tears through the veil of religious conditioning and reveals the deeper truth buried beneath centuries of control:Christ was not the exception. He was the example. The cross, the resurrection, the kingdom — none of it was meant to be worshiped…It was meant to be remembered. In this powerful awakening, Q The Light exposes the forbidden message they feared the world would rediscover:that the true second coming isn't an event — it's a frequency. And that every time a human remembers who they really are… the Christ returns again.
As Christians we can tend to get fascinated in learning about the end times which is a good thing. However, we can sometimes focus on the wrong things and instead we need to know what we are to do while we are waiting for the Lord's return. Paul tells us in 1 Thessalonians 3 what we are to do while we are waiting.

The return of Jesus Christ is one of the most repeated promises in the New Testament. But what does it mean for us today—and how do we prepare? In this sermon, Pastor Ken Senchal explores the truth of the Second Coming and the rapture. Drawing from passages like Acts 1, 1 Thessalonians 4, Matthew 24, and Revelation 19, he reminds us that while no one knows the day or the hour, every believer must live ready. You'll discover: The hope and promise of Christ's return. Different views on the rapture (pre-, mid-, post-tribulation). Why the oil of the Spirit is essential for readiness. How to abide daily in Jesus and live a holy, watchful life. Listen in and be encouraged: Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is coming back!
By Craig Scott - Differences in how various premillennialist groups believe and teach about the return of Christ comes from how they understand the biblical statements about a time of tribulation that at the end of this present age.
This is a pretty amazing passage of scripture that has always been an ambiguous yet fascinating prophetic section to study in relation to End Times. I believe that this section of Daniel's prophecy is specifically written for the benefit of the generation living during the terrible Tribulation Period . In fact, verse 10 of Daniel chapter 12 says they , as believers will understand the numbers given in verses 11 and 12. I believe that these numbers tell us that there will be a 75 day interval between the Return of Christ and the beginning of the Kingdom Age to come.
When will Christ return and how will we know it? In this episode of the For the Gospel Podcast, Costi Hinn kicks off his new eschatology series by laying a critical foundation: before we explore timelines, tribulations, or millennial positions, we must first grasp the essential truth that Christ is coming again—visibly, bodily, and in glory. This isn't a fringe belief; it is central to the Christian faith and essential for our hope, holiness, and mission.

Our text today is Mark 13:32-37: “But concerning that day or that hour, no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be on guard, keep awake. For you do not know when the time will come. It is like a man going on a journey, when he leaves home and puts his servants in charge, each with his work, and commands the doorkeeper to stay awake. Therefore stay awake—for you do not know when the master of the house will come, in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or in the morning— lest he come suddenly and find you asleep. And what I say to you I say to all: Stay awake.” — Mark 13:32-37 The final words of Jesus in this chapter are gentle. But not casual. They aren't loud commands. They're more like a whisper in the dark: “Stay awake.” He doesn't say this once—He says it three times. Not because you need more information, but because you need more awareness. Jesus doesn't tell us the day or the hour. Not because he's hiding it. But the posture of readiness is better than a countdown clock. A master has gone away. Servants have been entrusted with a task. Each one has a role. And no one knows the exact hour of return. But he is returning. And Jesus doesn't want his people found sleeping, not distracted, disinterested, or disengaged. Not lulled to sleep by comfort, busyness, or pride. He wants us awake. Alert. Tuned in. Working, watching, and ready. What does it mean to stay awake? Here are five actions: It means tending your soul. It means choosing holiness over habit. It means letting the Word sharpen you and the Spirit soften you. It means living today like it matters, because it does. It means living tomorrow like it could be your last, because it might be. Jesus isn't trying to stir anxiety. He's stirring urgency. Because when He returns—and He will return—you won't be able to hit snooze. So wake up. Get in the Word. Cut out the compromise. Live like He's near. Because He is. #StayAwake, #Mark13, #JesusIsComing ASK THIS: Why do you think Jesus repeats “stay awake” three times? What areas of your spiritual life are growing dull? What daily rhythms can help you stay alert to Jesus' return? If Jesus returned today, what would He find you doing? DO THIS: Choose one habit today that's been putting your soul to sleep—and cut it off. Replace it with something that stirs spiritual alertness. PRAY THIS: Jesus, wake me up. If I've grown numb, shake me. If I've grown lazy, correct me. I don't want to be found asleep—I want to be found faithful. Amen. PLAY THIS: "Keep Me Burning."

If you would like to learn more about this project, click the link to discover more and partner with us. Our text today is Mark 13:24-27: "But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will be falling from heaven, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken. And then they will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory. And then he will send out the angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven. — Mark 13:24-27 The world will shake. The sky will go dark. The celestial order will collapse. And then, the Son comes. Not calmly in a manger. Not humbly on an ass. But in the clouds, through the sky, with power and in glory. Jesus gives his disciples a vision of the end, but not to frighten them. To focus them. Because at the end of the chaos, there is a Conquering King. He's not coming to suffer. He's coming to reign for all time. In the ancient world, clouds were often seen as symbols of divine authority and power from heaven. So when Jesus says He's coming "in the clouds," He's declaring exactly what Daniel saw centuries earlier (Daniel 7): The Son of Man receiving dominion, glory, and an eternal kingdom. When all you see is tribulation, your heart will be filled with fear. But if you, like me, fix your eyes on Jesus breaking through the clouds, you'll be filled with hope and live free from all fear. This is where the story is headed. Not endless darkness. Not endless division. Not endless waiting. The Son of God is coming again. And he's not coming to negotiate. He's not coming to debate, persuade, or die. He is coming to gather. To collect His people. To finish what He started. To make all things right. So lift your eyes. Stop getting lost in headlines. Don't be shaken by the shaking. Because one day, what you believe in faith, you'll see with your own eyes. Faith will become sight. Hope will become reality. Long live King Jesus. #ReturnOfChrist, #Mark13, #SonOfMan ASK THIS: Why do you think Jesus gives such dramatic cosmic imagery? How does this promise bring you comfort today? In what ways do you live like Jesus could return at any moment? What would you do differently if you knew He was returning tomorrow? DO THIS: When you're tempted to fear the future, speak this out loud: “Jesus is coming back—and He's bringing glory with Him.” PRAY THIS: Jesus, I place my hope in your return. When the world feels dark, remind me that your light will break through. You are coming again in power. Amen. PLAY THIS: "Even So Come."
Today's Promise: John 14:3 One of the greatest promises of scripture is the return of Christ. Jesus promised there would come a time when He would return for His followers. Since the day Jesus ascended into heaven, Christians have been looking forward to the return of Christ. Jesus said He was preparing a place for each one of us. As His follower, your dwelling place for all eternity is being perfectly designed just for you. We don't know the time, day, or even the year of His return. Our responsibility is simply to be ready.
