On this episode we talk about one of the most prolific and brutal killers in US history and a guy who got his moniker The Scorecard Killer from a macabre list of nicknames he had for his many victims; this episode is all about Randy Kraft. Joining me on this episode is comedian Ger Staunton; international comedy powerhouse and fellow Mayo man :) Ger and I discuss these heinous crimes and what drives someone to commit such horrific sexual attacks on so many young men. Craft operated in the prolific serial killer atmosphere of the 70s and 80s where it seemed all bets were off for catching murderers. There is estimates of up to 70 victims that Kraft cruelly dispatched but he was only found guilty for very few of these; and we discuss the ones we know about here. Acknowledgment to Murder, Murder, Murder (dot) com and Dennis McDougal author of Angel of Darkness for the nitty gritty on this one. Not a whole lot else online on this fella but both of these sources nail it pretty well. My guest this week is the witty & dapper Martin Angolo! This chat was recorded in pre-covid times, so it doesn't feature in our discussion! :) This is just two humans chatting back in the good old days of overcrowded buses, unprotected sneezes and no queuing. Martin and I cover many topics during this chat, including: stress, how not to be stressed, doing more of the work you love and doing the work versus procrastination and laziness. Martin gives us some great tips on how to de-stress: just don't get stressed in the first place! ;) We also talk stand-up comedy, first impressions, as well as getting to grips with our own impressions of ourselves. It was a delightful chat and will be a delightful listen! Enjoy! :)
This week I chat to Martin Angolo, a young comic rising in the Dublin comedy scene. We chat a bit about how his mom ended up coming to Ireland from Namibia and raising him as a single mom. We then have a long chat about comedy as a career and how he recently made a decision to take it all more seriously. He struggles with the online content part of how the industry has evolved and we talk about the pros and cons of that. We finish the discussion chatting about the well worn topic of cancel culture arguments about free speech. I also begin the ep with a chat about an incident that happened at the show last night in Portlaoise. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

http://thecomedycast.com/ Hello and welcome back to The Comedy Cast; today you’ll be hearing from Irish stand-up comedian, Ger Staunton. We kick off the interview and we speak about an Edinburgh preview show Ger had just performed in London along with previous Comedy Cast guest Danny O'Brien. I ask him about the nature of preview shows and about how much a set will change from the previews to the actual Edinburgh set. We speak too about learning to be critical of your work and how sometimes it doesn't matter what you think of a bit, it's the audience that are the best judge of new material. We speak about Ger's podcast with former Comedy Cast guest Martin Angolo, Canary in a Comedy Goldmine, where Martin tests out new material on Ger. It's a brilliant podcast and I urge you all to subscribe, the lads are hilarious together. I tell Ger that I get the impression for other comedians in Dublin that he's somewhat looked up to, but he reveals it's not because of his talent as a comedian... We speak about Ger's job of being a video editor for live sporting events and some short films he'd made in the past in particular Bealtaine, a short about an old neighbour who brought back a dying tradition to Mayo. We talk then about how and why Ger got into comedy. Ger's speaks then about putting the foot down in comedy recently and about how the more you put into performing regularly the more you'll get out of it. We speak about the comedy scene in Dublin, the advantages and disadvantages to gigging to a lot of tourists and people who don't regularly attend comedy and how as new comics you have to be willing to work hard and do the small gigs before getting the bigger ones.

http://thecomedycast.com Martin's a Dublin man and recently he's been hitting a lot of peoples' radars in Ireland thanks to his particular style of comedy. While still certainly new to the scene you can definitely see his progression as a comedian from his material on YouTube. We kicked off the interview like any two Irishmen, we bitched about the weather, we spoke too about being raised in Cabra in Dublin, a place with a bad reputation, but really that's all it is. We spoke about Martin's surname Angolo, his Namibian roots and his mother's experiences when moving to Dublin to work as a nurse. We talked too about how and why Martin got into comedy and how he actually see stand-up comedy as a stepping stone to other things; his desire to be a comedy writer and certainly not an actor, as hereveals why he doesn't have much time for actors. We also spoke about about Martin's experience growing up in Dublin as a black person, I was nervous asking that question I won't lie. I've heard some bad stories from black friends at home. We talked then about Martin's comedic influences growing up and how his mother's taste in comedy was a huge influence on him. Martin decides to turn the tables on me about halfway through and I get a grilling about the podcast. We speak too about Martin's writing process and how he works on his act. And we spoke about how Martin's act has evolved over the years away from one-liners to being more anecdotal or more 'truthful' as he himself says. We speak about the first time Martin died on his arse and how he picked himself back up from it and finally we talk about the supportive nature of the comedy scene in Dublin.
Martin Angolo lies about cereal and Cian and Edwin rightfully treat him as a hostile witness. Later, Edwin takes over the Review Anew section to reappraise Martin’s bullfighting joke.
