Psybient.org Podcast 61 - dela Moon - The Way Beyond (Moontribe Collective) We welcome today dela Moon, a prolific DJ from USA based Moontribe Collective with her DJ mix recorded live at Subtract party with Desert Dwellers! visit @ www.psybient.org and for more! INTRO ======= This is dela Moon and I'm pleased to share this downtempo set I recorded at a Subtract event here in Los Angeles with Desert Dwellers in June of 2023. The event took place on a beautiful day, outside on a pier overlooking the ocean, so this mix is filled with watery, dubby, atmospheric sounds and my favorite kind of deep, psybass beats. Her fiery sets under the full moon birthed a new generation of dnb-lovers and cemented her place in SoCal's dnb scene. She is renowned for her mutli-genre range which bridges the dnb, bass music, techno, and festival scenes. Drawing these progressive influences into each environment she faces, her sets are infused with energy and raw emotion that surpasses the thresholds of any single genre.

What's up re|flections family! Welcome to episode 25 of re|flections FM! Thanks for all the support you've shown the past year and a half, we can't wait for the future with all of you! Shout out to Philthy (@philthyyouarehere) for providing the perfect mix to celebrate this milestone! Phillip Sierras, aka Philthy, is a Southern California based artist and partner in 'You Are Here'. He discovered his love for music from a young age, and was influenced by many genres. But it wasn't until 2014 that he dug into his new found love in the art of electronic music. With beginning influence from the legendary Moontribe, he knew his musical path lied in the depths of the desert. Staying true to his name, Philthy brings to the table an array of bone-chilling dark bass lines sure to take you on a trip. You can catch him playing at clubs in Los Angeles, Orange County, and to the land less traveled off the grid. Enjoy and keep up with us for more to come!

This week's addition to the Fatsoenlijke Serie Guest Collectie comes from Mondaine. Though stretching the boundaries of the Fatsoenlijke Serie sound, DCOMPLEXITY and Mondaine provided a pair of really great mixes that offer some variety to the sound of the collection. Start your week off right with some complex and sonically dense mixes from the duo who make up FUSION. Bio: DComplexity x Mondaine [FUSION] The philosophy and concept of FUSION dates back to Daniel Chavez aka DComplexity’s childhood; Growing up in Los Angeles listening to jazz and hip hop, as well as dancing, breakdance and footwork. His father was the one who instilled in him knowledge of the guitar and musical theory, from there Daniel went his own way obtaining more electronic music experience interacting with other musicians without going to music school. In the early nineties he immersed himself into techno, house, acid jazz, trance, jungle, bass & rave culture; Performing actively at underground events and clubs throughout California and in 11 countries around the globe.; He was also the original dj and co-founder of Moontribe the well known Southern California desert full moon gatherings. From 97 until 2009 he started and managed a label called Automat Records. In the process he gained the knowledge to produce his own vinyl and digital releases with over 30+ releases. After 2009 he took a break from music production and presentations to devote himself to re-absorbing knowledge of the musical underground. The second part of the story begins around 2014, when he started producing tracks with his wife Lorena Chavez aka Mondaine after introducing her to Ableton Live. The autumn of 2015 they began the imprint FUSION aka https://soundcloud.com/footwork-fusion-160 to feature their love for Footwork Juke Jungle 160 House & Bass music. And in the autumn 2016 FUSION expanded with https://soundcloud.com/digitalinfiniti to feature Grime Club Techno Trap Bass sounds. In 2016, Lorena has curated the pinnacle all female Footwork & Juke Compilation Femme Fusion and also created the Fusion World Foundation as a philanthropic project to help raise funds for different causes. Both always caring for their four children and expanding their love of music and life around the world, producing tracks & mixes and seeking to perform at an event near you .

Dj Mixes - Deep House, Tech House,Tribal, Techno, Progressive, Trance, Psytrance & Breaks
Kicking spring off with a desert party / psytrance Inspired set and infused with breaks, trance, and some old anthems spanning three decades. Retrospective is the first of a series to pay homage to amazing tracks of yesterday. Volume I is heavily inspired by the Moonshine label and its great artists such as Brian Seed and John Kelley that helped create the desert party scene of Southern California, WAY before Burning Man. If you had a chance to experience Dune, Orion, or any of the Moontribe parties, you know what I'm talking about. It also includes epic tracks from Transa, L.S.G., Liquid Art, and Underworld. A big thank you to Brian Seed and John Kelley! Your artistry has forever shaped how I would view music and to paint sets as a journey. I highly recommend Hardesertrance and Funkydesertrance series if you haven't heard them previously. Timeless classics! Enjoy! JVN Photo Credit: Robyn Neeaton @ robynneeaton.com

This is the live recording of Ben Annand's set from Slinky Family Gathering's 16th anniversary in May 2015. This set took place on Saturday evening following our opening ceremony potluck. Jessica kicked things off from 9pm-10:30pm. Download it, share it, stream it. Enjoy! Ben Annand (Tropical, Moontribe-LA) https://soundcloud.com/musicis4lovers/hometown-heroes-ben-annand https://soundcloud.com/ben-annand http://www.facebook.com/benannandmusic For over two decades, Moontribe has been a staple outdoor gathering for LA ravers — sprouting up only when the moon is full and lighting up the night sky. Sixteen of those twenty plus years Ben Annand has been the ritual's house music selector. Besides being Moontribe's resident DJ, Ben also produces his own event — Tropical – a party that takes on many shapes: on boats, in warehouses, and under the stars. It's evident by Ben's musical style that the full moon vibe resonates deeply within his spirit.
"Kepi is no stranger to How Weird. Playing How Weird since 2004, when the street fair's original home was at 12th and Howard, this podcast marks a 10 year weird anniversary. This mix represents a small taste of my favorite daytime breakbeat and melodic drum and bass tracks played during recent gatherings such as Moontribe and other west coast festivals. Treavor Moontribe is one of the co-founders of the Los Angeles based “Moontribe Collective” and its legendary full moon desert gatherings. Since 1993, these events have been at the core of Southern California’s underground electronic music scene. Treavor established himself as one of the top Djs in LA thru these events and has since traveled the world from Brazil to Japan to Morocco, Portugal, Germany and all over North America. As a Dj it’s always been his diversity that’s set him apart from his peers. As Treavor always says himself he refuses to be “Genre-Fied” or be a one dimensional DJ. His love for music spans multiple genres and his DJing reflects this. Although he is most well known for Psy Trance and Techno styles, Treavor prides himself on having the ability to fit in anywhere and anytime. Over the years Treavor has also established himself as a dynamic music producer having released music under several project names for labels like Bedrock, Six Degrees and White Swan Records. His most notable project by far is Desert Dwellers, which is a “virtual band” with members in multiple west coast US states. It all began in 2000 when Treavor first got in the studio with Amani Friend. They instantly clicked and started releasing music under the name Amani vs. Teapot. Out of that project came Desert Dwellers and over the years they’ve released multiple albums and countless singles, EP’s and remixes. After many years being a strictly studio project, Desert Dwellers has built up quite the fan base and the demand for live performances continues to grow. With that the once strictly studio project is slowly but surely becoming a real life band and touring seems inevitable. Compiled and Mixed By Jonathan Morning I love music, I love everything technology, and my favorite movies are Sci-Fi. I'm as real as it gets yet I'm never really here. Lost in Earth's faces tribes and cultures my mission is always... a mission for the lack of a better word. Somehow I can channel music from somewhere. Somehow I enjoy the sound of it very much.
