ULAS HiPR, University of Limerick's student-led high-powered rocketry team, has announced that in partnership with University of Limerick and Irish Manufacturing Research (IMR), the team will design and produce the first additive-manufactured (3D printed) liquid rocket engine in the Republic of Ireland – the Lúin of Celtchar. ULAS HiPR, founded in 2022 and entirely student-run, brings together University of Limerick students from across disciplines, including aeronautical, mechanical, software, and design engineering, with a shared goal of designing, manufacturing, and launching high-powered rockets. The 2025/2026 team, which has grown rapidly and now attracts over a hundred motivated students, has already had success internationally, representing Ireland in prestigious competitions, including Mach-24 and EuRoC (European Rocketry Challenge). ULAS HiPR's previous rockets – Morrígu, Airmedh and Macha – have already demonstrated strong performance and innovation in their design, payload integration, and flight execution. As part of this next chapter, ULAS HiPR is further excited to announce its official acceptance into the prestigious UK-based Race2Space 2026 International Propulsion Competition – a major milestone in advancing Irish student-led space propulsion capabilities, and the first year of participation for the team in one of the foremost student-focused international aerospace engineering challenges. The engine, a high-performance 2 kN, water-cooled, IPA/Nitrous Oxide bi-propellant system, has been designed entirely by the ULAS HiPR student team. It is now being manufactured at IMR's Advanced Manufacturing Lab in Mullingar using metal additive manufacturing, before returning to the University of Limerick for precision machining and assembly. This manufacturing approach will enable the engine to incorporate complex internal cooling channels, rapid design iteration, and enhanced efficiency that would be difficult or impossible to achieve with traditional manufacturing techniques. Speaking at the announcement, Jay Looney, Co-Head of ULAS HiPR, described the significance of today's announcement, saying, "The acceptance of our project to Race2Space marks a defining moment not only for ULAS HiPR, but for Ireland's student space community. The selection of the first additively manufactured liquid rocket engine in the Republic of Ireland into the competition validates the technical ambition of our student team and the strength of collaboration between Irish university students with industry. It demonstrates that world-class propulsion innovation can now be designed, manufactured, and tested entirely here in Ireland." The Race2Space entry, spanning conceptual design, advanced manufacturing, and testing preparation, represents a major milestone not only for ULAS HiPR but for the wider Irish student space ecosystem. Through this initiative, the team is proving that cutting-edge propulsion development can be achieved domestically through strong collaboration between academia and industry partners. Anschaulich, persönlich und anekdotisch schildert er als Prorektor Ausbildung und Dozent Mathematik seinen Werdegang, erzählt, wie vor allem Frauen ihn beruflich geprägt haben, und von vergangenen, aktuellen und künftigen Herausforderungen einer PH und ihrer Verantwortung. Im Rückblick wies bei ihm zuerst nichts auf eine mathematische Begabung hin. Erst die Faszination fürs Schachspiel und die Strategie mit 15 Jahren, durch Roulette zumindest so reich zu werden, um die hauseigene Schachbibliothek auszubauen, liessen ihn die Welt der Mathematik erkunden. Als Autodidakt erkannte Reinhard Hölzl sein grosses Talent, anderen schwierige Zusammenhänge einfach begreiflich zu machen, und das blieb bis heute so. Seit 25 Jahren leben Hölzls nun in der Schweiz, imSommer 2026 wird Reinhard pensioniert. Der Astronomie und Rechtsphilosophie, vor allem aber seinen beiden Enkelkindern möchte er dann Zeit widmen.

Ireland made a giant leap in the evolution of its space, innovation and advanced manufacturing ecosystem with the official launch of ESA Phi-Lab Ireland, the country's first European Space Agency (ESA) Phi-Lab, headquartered at Irish Manufacturing Research (IMR) in Mullingar. The new facility, run in collaboration with the AMBER Centre at Trinity College Dublin, is to be Ireland's national platform for space technology development, anchoring the country's ambitions within Europe's fast-growing space economy. The launch forms part of a wider national commitment to the European Space Agency, with the Department of Enterprise, Tourism and Employment committing €170 million in investment to ESA over the next five years. The establishment of ESA Phi-Lab Ireland in Mullingar represents a flagship element of that investment, translating policy ambition into tangible national infrastructure designed to accelerate space-enabled innovation, industrial competitiveness and high-value job creation. ESA Phi-Lab Ireland was formally launched by Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment Peter Burke, who unveiled a commemorative plaque at IMR's Advanced Manufacturing Lab. Produced using a space-grade additive manufactured material mounted on a local piece of 6,500-year-old Irish Bog Oak, the plaque heralds Ireland's formal entry into ESA's elite network of applied space-innovation centres, and reflects Ireland's growing role in shaping Europe's future space ambitions and technologies. There are 180 companies working in the space sector in Ireland these days and that's expanding due to demand for satellite technology in orbit but also for defence technology and even agricultural monitoring. We don't yet have a dedicated space agency here but the industry hopes to even launch rockets into space within the next decadeBarry Kennedy, CEO at IMR runs Irish Manufacturing Research which is also charged with disbursing money from the European Space agency.

Ausführlich geht es zunächst um den Widerstand gegen Vollstreckungsbeamte nach § 113 StGB und den tätlichen Angriff nach § 114 StGB, einschließlich ihrer Funktion als lex specialis zur Nötigung, der Bedeutung der Rechtmäßigkeit der Diensthandlung als objektive Strafbarkeitsvoraussetzung und der Frage, wie weit man in einer Strafrechtsklausur wirklich öffentlich-rechtlich prüfen muss. Anhand eines Fußballfalles rund um einen Platzverweis im Stadion und den Einsatz der Polizei werden typische Klausurkonstellationen, die Rolle von Reformen, Qualifikationen und Irrtümern sowie das Verhältnis zu Delikten wie Hausfriedensbruch, Körperverletzung und Straßenverkehrsdelikten aufgezeigt. Im zweiten Teil wendet sich Charlotte drei weiteren gerne vergessenen Normen zu: dem Vortäuschen einer Straftat nach § 145d StGB, der falschen Verdächtigung nach § 164 StGB und der Strafvereitelung nach § 258 StGB. Sie erläutert, wann eine Anzeige gegen Unbekannt nicht ausreicht, was unter Vortäuschen und Verdächtigen zu verstehen ist, warum § 164 eine objektiv falsche Beschuldigung einer konkret individualisierbaren Person voraussetzt und in welchem Verhältnis § 145d StGB zu § 164 StGB steht. Zudem werden typische Fallgestaltungen mit Brüdern oder Freunden, die den wahren Täter schützen wollen, der Nemo-tenetur-Grundsatz, die Bedeutung von Anfangsverdacht und Zeugenaussagen sowie die Privilegierung der Angehörigenhilfe in § 258 Abs. 6 besprochen. Wie und warum werden Konstellationen zu §§ 113, 114, 145d, 164 und 258 StGB aus Prüfersicht oft mit Klassikern wie Körperverletzung, Diebstahl oder Aussagedelikten kombiniert? Wie findet man in der Klausur diese vergessenen Delikte, wenn sie im Rep kaum vorkamen? Wie weit muss eine verwaltungsrechtliche Prüfung zu polizeilichen Maßnahmen wirklich gehen, um im Examen zu überzeugen, ohne sich zu verzetteln? Anhand von Beispielen aus den Straßenverkehrsdelikten, etwa den §§ 315b, 315c StGB, sowie den Brandstiftungsdelikten, insbesondere § 306a StGB, wird herausgearbeitet, wie konkrete, abstrakte und abstrakt-konkrete Gefährdungsdelikte voneinander abzugrenzen sind und weshalb gerade konkrete Gefährdungsdelikte in Examensklausuren so beliebt sind. Ihr erfahrt, nach welchen Kriterien sich eine konkrete Gefahr in der Klausur feststellen lässt, welche Bedeutung die ex-ante Betrachtung und der Blick eines sachverständigen Beobachters haben und wie sich dies auf Vorsatz, Rücktritt und die Argumentation zur objektiven Zurechnung auswirkt. Außerdem wird mit § 231 StGB ein häufig übersehenes, aber examensrelevantes abstraktes Gefährdungsdelikt vorgestellt, bei dem bereits die Beteiligung an einer Schlägerei strafbar sein kann und genau das wichtige Besonderheiten bei Beteiligung, der objektiven Bedingung der Strafbarkeit und dem Prüfungsaufbau mit sich bringt. Wie streng muss man den Gefahrenbereich und die Nähe zum Schadenseintritt in der Klausur fassen, damit die konkrete Gefahr wirklich vorliegt? In welchen Konstellationen kippt eine bloß abstrakte Gefährlichkeit in eine konkrete Gefährdung um und wie können Sachverhaltsdetails euch dabei helfen? Warum ist § 231 StGB so weit gefasst und welche kriminalpolitischen Überlegungen stecken hinter dieser Norm, die teils kritisch gesehen wird? Human beings have always prided themselves on the advantage gained from possessing knowledge that others lack. We boast of being smarter, more informed, more enlightened—as if we were the elite guardians of some secret insight reserved for our sect, our institution, or our circle. Whether the advantage lies in religious doctrine, education, status, political ideology, or modern technology, it always devolves into the same pattern: insiders against outsiders, the few who “know” against the many who do not.From ancient cults, esoteric associations, and manufactured religions (steeped in symbols wrongly appropriated from sacred texts) to modern marketing campaigns promising the “secret to success,” humanity's obsession with exclusive knowledge endures. Yet all of it is vanity—corruption and folly dressed as wisdom. Whether through ritual, ideology, or playground-style cliques, every claim to possess hidden knowledge and to exercise control over others is sublime vanity, doomed to folly.There is only one source of knowledge—the Father of all—and he alone is the fountain of might, power, and strength. Scripture repeats this warning at every turn, and when human beings ignore it, all things collapse in ruin. The arrogant, trusting in themselves, gleefully amplify human chaos in opposition to him, emboldened by misguided self-confidence.Indeed, their knowledge springs from self-importance, and their strength from oppression. In their false eschaton, the work of men's hands turns to dust, even as the God of Abraham remains—ever present, all-knowing, all-wise, and all-powerful. Moreover, as Matthew wrote, this God stands as the enemy of those among them who invoke his name, “Lord, Lord.”But Yahweh, our Elohim, is always in control despite the schemes of Baal's followers who deceive the devout who have fallen for the institutions he destroys.“For they plan, and God plans; and God is the best of planners.”وَمَكَرُوا وَمَكَرَ اللَّهُ، وَاللَّهُ خَيْرُ الْمَاكِرِينَwa-makarū wa-makara llāhu, wa-llāhu khayru l-mākirīn(Qurʾan, Surat Āl ʿImrān سورة آل عمران “The Family of Imran” 3:54)Every time the human being seizes power or claims insight as his own, the result is the same: pride, decay, and judgment. The heavens do not father the earth; both submit to the patriarchy of the one God of Abraham, the Master of all things.This is the reality encoded in Scriptural grammar and function and fulfilled in the obedience of Jesus. It is the recognition that knowledge and strength proceed only from God's command, which has the power to heal even Israel.This week, I discuss Luke 8:46.“ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν· Ἥψατό μού τις, ἐγὼ γὰρ ἔγνων (י-ד-ע) δύναμιν (ח-י-ל) ἐξεληλυθυῖαν ἀπʼ ἐμοῦ.”“But Jesus said, ‘Someone did touch me, for I was aware [ἔγνων (egnon) / י־ד־ע (yod–dalet–ʿayin)] that power [δύναμιν (dynamin) / ח־י־ל (ḥet–yod–lamed)] had gone out of me.'”(Luke 8:46)γινώσκω (ginosko) / י-ד-ע (yod–dalet–ʿayin) / ع-ر-ف (ʿayn–rāʾ–fāʾ)In its scriptural itinerary, יָדַע (yadaʿ) functions as relational recognition rooted in revelation and obedience. Gnostics invert this by treating knowledge as an object of possession: a secret commodity that grants status or liberation to a spiritual elite.The Itinerary of Knowledge“Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew [וַיֵּדְעוּ (wayyedaʿu)] that they were naked.” (Genesis 3:7)When Adam and Eve transgress the divine command, their eyes are “opened,” and י-ד-ע (yod–dalet–ʿayin) marks the moment of realization. They do not gain divine insight; they recognize their separation and vulnerability.“You shall know [וִידַעְתֶּם (widaʿtem)] that I am Yahweh your God, who brought you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.” (Exodus 6:7)In Egypt, Yahweh assured deliverance. Israel will know him as the mighty one who was victorious against the elite rulers who burdened his people. Knowledge comes through divine encounter (in this case, remembrance at the opportune time) and obedience, not human speculation.“Then they shall know [וְיָדְעוּ (weyadeʿu)] that I am Yahweh.” (Ezekiel 6:7)The same Yahweh declares judgment upon Israel for their idolatry. Weyadeʿu means that through destruction and exile—the opportune time—through divine encounter, the people will come to recognize his immutable sovereignty.“The fear of Yahweh is the beginning of knowledge [דַּעַת (daʿat)].” (Proverbs 1:7)Wisdom begins not in self-referential discovery but in submission. Daʿat, י-ד-ע (yod–dalet–ʿayin), denotes divine instruction. It is submission to God's ordering of creation that begins with fear, that is, reverent submission to his command.“But Jesus said, ‘Someone did touch me, for I was aware [ἔγνων (egnon)] that power had gone out of me.'” (Luke 8:46)When the woman touches Jesus' garment, ἔγνων (egnon) expresses not psychological awareness but recognition of divine power at work. In Genesis 3:7, Adam and Eve know [wayyedaʿu] only after breaking the divine command. What they perceive is separation, not illumination. In Exodus 6:7, Israel knows [widaʿtem] Yahweh because at the opportune time, they remember his act of deliverance; the exiles know [weyadeʿu] Yahweh through judgment. In every case, knowledge is not a self-referential human discovery but an encounter with God's judgment. Even in Proverbs 1:7, daʿat signifies not human moral or ethical insight but awareness of divine instruction grounded in reverent fear.When Jesus knows that power has gone out from him (Luke 8:46), the same dynamic unfolds: divine initiative, human encounter, recognition, and restoration. The “knowing” is God-referential. It is an acknowledgment of divine operation rather than an act of introspection.This same itinerary and literary pattern continues in the Qurʾan, where the Arabic triliteral root ع-ر-ف (ʿayn–rāʾ–fāʾ) appears frequently. Its core function is to know, recognize, acknowledge, or make known. It parallels the Hebrew י-ד-ע (yod–dalet–ʿayin) and the Greek γινώσκω (ginosko) in expressing knowledge as submission to God rather than human possession.“And say, ‘All praise be to God! He will show you his signs, and you will recognize them [فَتَعْرِفُونَهَا (fa-taʿrifūnahā)]. And your Lord is never unaware of what you do.'” (Qurʾan, Surat al-Naml سورة النمل “The Ant” 27:93)The Prophet is commanded to proclaim divine praise. GenAI is already shifting attitudes by improving personal productivity, which naturally opens minds to operational use cases like predictive maintenance, knowledge capture, and quality improvements. What comes next If the last decade was about connecting machines, the next decade will be about connecting knowledge. Expect smarter, greener, and more multidisciplinary manufacturing. AI will sit alongside advanced materials and sustainable design.
