Today I delve into some of the questions and meanings we can consider when more desert animals cross our path. I'd forgotten about javelina and coyote as I recorded the previous episode, so decided to add them in here. Javelina showed up for me last week in southern Arizona while I was driving at night: a family of four curiously investigating part of the desert. In a curious twist of fate, the day I recorded the episode, coyotes showed up multiple times both before and after. One place was in the book I finished that morning, about a tree in Haida Gwaii entitled The Golden Spruce by John Vaillant (highly recommend). One telling of that tree can be found here on the Haida Tourism site. Thank you for listening! You can connect with me at cactusmoose@protonmail.com or @cactusmoose on Instagram with questions, comments and guest suggestions. Have a wonderful day, and enjoy the time you spend in nature. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/wisdomofthewilderness/message
"Shalom" in Hebrew is "Peace" "Assalamu alaykum" in Arabic is "Peace be with you" ShalomAlaykum, a downtempo tapestry woven with threads of deep electronica and ethnic melodies, carries you on a meditative journey to inner peace. Imagine a world bathed in starlight, where pulsating rhythms echo ancient wisdom and ethereal melodies transcend borders. Let conflict dissolve into understanding, replaced by the unifying love language of music. This mix isn't just a sonic escape; it's a whispered prayer for peace, a bridge built on shared humanity, and a vision of a brighter future where cultural richness dances in harmony. Los Angeles, CA- With their dreamy, dark, sensual sound, Arula & Quiet Son form a duo whose music combines the qualities of urban electronica, dance, and experimental folk with an infusion of melodic pop sensibilities. Initially starting as a remote song collaboration between the two California artists & producers, the project blossomed into a fully realized LP that winds through self-discovery, reclamation, climate consciousness, and romantic vulnerability. In just over a year, Arula & Quiet Son have played shows throughout California, touring with acts like Random Rab & Desert Dwellers. The first single and title track from their debut album, "Found", premieres April 18 with a stunning video (directed by Jade Sanchez of Earth Based Media) that explores the power and direct connection between the feminine and nature. Both artists are super excited to share their track + music video for "Found" Here's what they had to say about it: "'Found' is a reclamation of the power that can only be harnessed from within. It is an ode to anyone who has ever felt lost, confused, or like they don't fit in. It is a reminder that we can always be found within ourselves, and within the receptive energy of nature and earth" -Arula Quiet Son elaborates: “The production of this song is really special to me. It was such a unique challenge because when I heard the initial demo I realized the message of the song is so clear that I had to make sure the production supported Arula's vision precisely. It was an exploration in creating and subsequently releasing tension: to build the sound around Arula's vocals as the song's message evolves from self-doubt into complete reclamation, empowerment, and ecstasy. It was fun to let that huge bass synth take over in the last chorus; I think it really opens the song up and symbolizes the feeling of relief and blessing we can feel when we give ourselves permission to take control of our lives and destinies.” Arula continues: “Our hope is that this song reminds you that you are powerful and enough, just because you exist. May you always feel found within yourself.” Arula Instagram Quiet Son Instagram Arula Spotify Quiet Son Spotify
My birthday is April 5th and my Mum's was on April 9th. This was a close bond we shared when she was alive. So, during the very start of the COVID-19 pandemic I wanted to lift my spirits, and thus my first 'Lost In' Project aired on Thursday 9th April 2020 on Facebook. During the entire lockdown and mixed live on Facebook, before they shut it down, Lost In was reaching 100's of people in their homes and gardens over the 4 and 5-hour-long genre-spanning mixes. The project ran for two and a half years continuing on Mixcloud. 83 mixes in total! This mix is a throwback to those special Thursday evenings mixed live on air with the Lost in Faithful from around the world connecting together online. I'm still full of gratitude for this project and how it reached like-minded, gentle souls who love their electronic music mashed up into a weekly audio journey. The mix was played on 7th April 2022. One of the truly improbable results of 20th century cultural openness and experimentation has been the international success of yoga. From its origins as a means of physical support for Indian meditation practice, yoga came west with counterculture explorers in the 1970s, took root, and against all odds became a standard of the western fitness industry. Today, yoga fuels burgeoning spin offs in clothing, fashion, video and accessories — as well as a hyperactive genre of India-inspired electronic music — not only for yoga practice and meditation, but for so-called "ecstatic dance" and other group activities. Over the last 20 years, the international yoga community has come together to create dozens of "transformational festivals" every summer, which provide live performance opportunities for the musicians, along with exercise and spirituality. On this transmission of Hearts of Space, groove-centric, globally percussive, tribal-electronic, Indo-Ambient sounds for transformational festivals, ecstatic dance, yoga and meditation, on a program called PRANA PULSE. Music is by SHAMAN'S DREAM, MOLLONO.BASS, DESERT DWELLERS, AL GROMER KHAN, ANUGAMA, DEUTER, and RAJENDRA TEREDESAI. [ view playlist ] [ view Flickr image gallery ] [ play 30 second MP3 promo ]

Wilderness is the described as “last wild places on this planet that humans do not control.” I believe it is in our nature to control and to steer our own course, especially throughout life. Do you remember riding your bike downhill as a kid and you started to get a shake in your handle bars that kept getting bigger and bigger and you knew you were heading for a crash? Losing control is scary like that and sometimes worse.

Artist: Desert Dwellers / Coss / Iorie Label: Sofa Beats Genre: Electronic / Downtempo Release Date: 17.07.2020 Beatport: https://www.beatport.com/release/breath-re-imagined-vol-2/3003245 It has been over a decade since the global electronica scene sampled its first Desert Dwellers remix. Synthesized from a menagerie of old-world acoustics infused with the pulsating beat of the electronic underground, it was these early re-visions of Desert Dwellers' genre-melding music that would come to serve as a foundation for the duo's evolving relationship with the alchemical art of remixing, as exhibited by over 100 remixes of their style-defining tracks since the project first took shape in the late 1990s. 'Breath Re-Imagined Vol. 2' carries on in this evolving tradition as producers Amani Friend and Treavor Moontribe hand the building blocks of their 2019 album, 'Breath,' over to eleven musical adepts from the realms of downtempo house and electronica for a scintillating new installment to their global music tale. Spiced with the ambrosial flavors of world beat and folkloric house, 'Breath Re-Imagined Vol. 2' brings a dreamy and evocative edge to Breath's ethereal landscapes, blending in heavier percussion and deep, technical grooves to craft a dance floor elixir that guides us further into the essence of Desert Dwellers' shapeshifting musical visions. Marked by inclusions from a worldwide array of producers that includes Coss & Iorie, Luca Bacchetti, Unders, Rapossa, Nhii, Derun, Alvaro Suarez, and Roderic, as well as American producers The Invisible People (aka An-Ten-Nae), Bosa, and Forever & Ever, 'Breath Re-Imagined Vol. 2' is a bridge between the old world and the new and a testament to the ever-changing nature of all creations as they bend to the wheels of time and influence in an accelerating world.
