A few weeks ago the gang was thrust into Parts 1 and 2 of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, the legendary 1987 anime series, and learned everything there is to know about the Joestars, the evil vampire Dio, the enigma that is Speedwagon, the Pillar Men, and Hamon. So anyways, literally none of that is relevant anymore, as Stardust Crusaders elevates the series to heights never seen before, with the introduction of... ゴ ゴ ゴ 「STANDS」ゴ ゴ ゴ. It's more fun, more interesting, more hilarious, more memeable, and somehow manages to live up to its own self-generated singularity of hype. Content warning: SPOILERS, strong language.
The fight for mankind's survival reaches its (snowy) peak as our coverage of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Battle Tendency continues. Before making his final stand, Esidisi steals the Red Stone of Aja and attempts to send it to his fellow Pillar Men. JoJo and his friends race to Switzerland to secure the relic before Kars and Wammu can enact their plan. Instead, the stone falls into the hands of a familiar cyborg. As the battle at St. Moritz escalates, our heroes learn surprising truths and suffer tragic losses. The story of the Pillar Men is nearing its conclusion, but dawn hasn't broken just yet. Our first post-centennial episode comes with an introduction to an absolute classic in the anime sphere, originating all the way back in 1987, with JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. We start with Parts 1 and 2 for this week's episode, following the stoic Jonathan Joestar in Phantom Blood as he faces off against the evil Dio, and then continuing with his grandson Joseph in Battle Tendency as he fights the Pillar Men, named after cool American bands! The show's reputation precedes it, as Iris and Michael discover just how deep this rabbit hole goes, but beyond how crazy the narrative gets, there's aspects of horror, comedy, drama, and Speedwagon packed into these two short seasons. Content warning: SPOILERS, strong language.
On today's episode, Cidnya and Jake look at the strange world of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure! The pair talk about the saga of the Joestar family as they battle the lingering evil of Dio Brando and the relics that resulted in his rise to power. Primarily dealing with the first six JoJos of the franchise and briefly touching on the seventh and eighth protagonists of the series. Beginning in England they talk about the start of the feud as Jonathan Joestar learns of villainous intents of his foster brother Dio Brando that leads the former to the power of Hamon to battle the latter's newfound vampirism! After discussing the body-snatching shenanigans, the two talk about the pulpy adventure of wild misogynistic trickster Joseph Joestar as he takes of the beings behind vampirism, the mighty Pillar Men! With the nazi cyborg and the power of Hamon firmly behind them, Cid and Jake kinda talk about how the most popular part, “Stardust Crusaders” is far from the best but introduces elements to set it apart as Joseph introduces his grandson Jotaro Kujo to the concept of a Stand as they fight and defeat Dio, himself, once and for all. But while our hosts did not care too much for the crusaders, they both agree that Joseph's illegitimate son Josuke Higashikata and “Diamond is Unbreakable” as he and his friends live a semi-normal life while also investigating a serial killer and an ancient stand-giving arrow once owned by Dio! Breaking from Japan, our hosts found themselves in Italy discussing Giorno Giovanna, the son of Dio (well his head on Jonathan's body) as he rises through the ranks of the Italian underworld learning more about the properties of the arrow! Lastly the main JoJo our episode covers is Jolyne Cujoh, daughter of Jotaro, as she battles Father Pucci, Dio's disciple and priest at the Green Dolphin State Prison, in the final installment of the original JoJo universe! Jake briefly talks about his excitement for the reboot universe and to see Johnny Joestar collect the body parts of Jesus Christ. Also Jake investigates what happened to his brother after the events of GateSlashers 2, in the laziest way possible. For more of Jake talking about JoJo click here for his review of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R, and for the context of the opening of GateSlashers 2 click here!

Good morning, it's time for Problematic Gay Discourse! Delicious! Thank goodness the Pillar Men never get bored and just start putting the stone mask on other random animals, since it makes horses terrifying (what would it do to moose?). Joseph Joestar cannot stay off his bullshit, and his bullshit is always sleight of hand string tricks. If nothing else convinces you to not be a peeping tom, let the threat of incest do it. This class covers the fight against the Pillar Men by Joseph Joestar, Caesar Zeppeli, Lisa Lisa and Von Stroheim. This class will begin with the conclusion of the group's first battle against the Pillar Men, and follow both their training in Hamon, as well as their relentless search for the Red Stone of Aja.
Who designed the work spaces of the Pillar Men? How many abdominal muscles do you even NEED, Joeseph Joestar, Jesus E O Christ, give some of those away to the abdominal-less. Esidisi has had some extremely good therapy and processes trauma like a champ. It turns out there are levels of homoeroticism on this show that Eliz had not noticed somehow, so Courtney and Darius get to point those out to her. The Pillar Men just want to go on vacation but a fire ant infestation throws a wrench in their plans. Waamu whips his hair back and forth. JoJo gets married to like, six ultimate beings while something resembling a story gets underway. And we learn that JoJo's is Looney Tunes with naked hunks! Through an act of incredible mental fortitude, this episode description is not just, "CAESAR!!!" over and over again. Caesar Zeppeli finally shows up and the only person who isn't happy about it is Joseph. (...but what Hogwarts house is he?!) We permanently fix the entire plot of Battle Tendency by getting rid of the Nazis. There's no joke here, we actually did that, go Team JJBX.
