We've heard expressions like "a match made in Heaven," but we all know there are no perfect marriages, because there are no perfect husbands or wives. But at one time, there was a marriage made in Paradise. Genesis 2 gives amazing insights into the truth about marriage and some principles that will go a long way in helping us to develop thriving marriages and families.

When you were born, you couldn’t walk or talk. You couldn’t read or write. You couldn’t even control your own bowel movements. You LEARNED all those things from another human being. You were made for people. And here in America, we're now five years into a downward trend in life-expectancy that's being fueled by "deaths of despair" (suicide, drug overdose, and alcoholism). Why? Because Americans are LONELY. As it turns out, YOU WERE MADE FOR PEOPLE.

out. Today we look at marriage. Most people get married, regardless of religion, race, generation, continent, culture; the great majority of people get married. Let’s see what God had in mind. Read Genesis 2:18-25.

Discovering your why has so many benefits. Once you know your why, you will be much more likely to live life with greater purpose, passion, power, and peace.
In today’s world there is a lot of confusion about what marriage is. God’s Word reveals not only what marriage is, but also the truth that the institution of marriage is a picture of something greater. Join us as we explore the founding of the creation ordinance we call “marriage!"
Gender confusion and chaos abounds. Our world is rife with the turmoil borne of misunderstand, mistrust, and misapplication of the maleness and femaleness of the human race. Join us as we explore the goodness of the binary nature our sexuality and gender identity and come to appreciate the differentiated yet complementary manner in which God made us!
The word meet in Genesis 2:18, means fitting. Someone to complement him. Someone who was appropriate for him. Woman was taken from man. God took a rib from Adam and made Eve. How did that work? God did it! God was clear with His expectations. Eve listened to the serpent and ate the fruit, then gave it to Adam and ate it. Modesty is the same as honesty. The only way we can be right with God is to own up to what we have done and not try to solve it on our own.

Genesis 2:18-25; 5:1-2 What are the two timeless truths of marriage that Mike listed? Why is singleness considered good and even a gift for some? (Matthew 19:10-12; 1 Corinthians 7:1-2) How is it that God’s counsel from the Bible is so valuable and reliable to us when crafting our lives and marriage? (Psalm 33:11; Deut 30:11-20) The number of options on blueprints for marriage are too numerous to count. Why should we consider (or just limit ourselves to) God’s blueprint, when there are so many other varieties out there? What does it mean to have a “complementary and contrasting” relationship in marriage and why is that a part of God’s plan? (Gen 1:18) Eve is considered Adam’s “helper”. Why do we know this isn’t meant to be a demeaning term? (Psalm 79:9 because God is called our helping in salvation, therefore we all must realize we can’t do life alone. We need “help.") Is marriage designed to be a two-way agreement or a three-way covenant? What is the difference between a contract and a covenant? What are the three sequential steps to creating a healthy bond in marriage, based on Genesis 2:22-24? Gen 2:25 points to a level of transparent intimacy that is more than just physical. First, personally evaluate in your own mind and give your marriage a score (if you are married) of 1-10 with 10 being supreme transparent intimacy and 1 be low transparent intimacy (you don’t have to necessarily share your with the group). Share one personal truth from your own life as to what makes you want to be or willing to be transparent and vulnerable with your spouse or significant other.

We have arrived at a place in America where it is as important as ever that we know the answer to *Why family?* If you’re single, divorced, or widowed, and no real thought on being married, you need to know the answer, be able to share the answer. If you’re 16, you need to know the answer and be able to share the answer.
