www.marktreichel.comhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/mark-treichel/Credit union acquisition activity in 2026 tells a story the headline numbers hide. Only four or five bank purchases have been announced so far this year — but according to Michael Bell of Honigman LLP, that is not a slowdown. It is a market in which banks are bidding more aggressively than ever, and credit unions are losing more bids than they win. Bell argues that outcome is actually evidence against the banking-lobby claim that credit unions overpay and compete unfairly: if credit unions were routinely overpaying, they would not be finishing in second place on roughly ten strong bids in the last few months.Mark Treichel talks with Bell and his Honigman partner Justin Gingerich about the full range of credit union non-organic growth: whole-bank purchases, bank branch deals, and — newer — the acquisition of mature CUSOs by large credit unions bringing services in-house. They dig into state-level friction, including Washington State's tax law that Bell says has raised zero revenue while shutting down credit union bidding there and depressing bank valuations, and the parallel dynamic in Tennessee. The conversation turns to the biggest shift of all: credit union to credit union mergers of equals (MOEs). For most of Bell's 23-year career these barely happened. Now he is having new MOE conversations weekly, and once a letter of intent is signed, roughly eight of ten close. Gingerich walks through the Wings/Ent transaction — a merger creating an institution north of $10 billion that won NCUA approval in four to five months, a timeline he calls unheard of — and credits Honigman regulatory partner Brandy Bruyere for navigating a process he describes as “baking a cake when the recipe is only half written.”Treichel adds the regulator's view: NCUA honors the democratic member-vote process when disclosures are sound, and with roughly 30% fewer staff after retirements, deal teams are effectively re-educating the agency as volume rises. The takeaway from both guests: strategic non-organic growth is now a mainstream lever for institutions building 2027 strategy — and sticking your head in the sand is not a strategy.
Why you should listenJim Marascio runs Equals 11 with roughly 30 direct team members, yet delivers Salesforce work with on-demand access to more than 600 certified engineers. He breaks down the exact staffing partnerships in LATAM and Europe that let a lean business play far larger than its headcount.Learn how to move up the value chain from tactical delivery to consultative "what if" conversations: the shift that raises deal value, creates more interesting work for your engineers, and turns you into the trusted advisor a client cannot swap out.Get Jim's front-end planning approach (milestones, definition of done, clear ownership, agreed success metrics) that keeps projects out of the 40% of implementations that stall on activity without results. You want to take on bigger Salesforce work, but every larger project means hiring people you cannot afford to keep on the bench, so you stay stuck delivering most of it yourself. In this episode, I talk with Jim Marascio from Equals 11, who spent 25 years as a CIO and CTO of SaaS companies before building a delivery business that runs on a lean core team and plays far larger than its size. We get into the moment he stopped being the tactical fix-it vendor waiting for clients to define the problem, and started becoming the strategic partner clients build their roadmap around. Jim also puts a number on it: roughly 40% of implementations break, and the difference between the ones that deliver and the ones that stall comes down to what you do in the first week. If you are the owner doing too much of the delivery and you want to grow capacity without betting the business on payroll, this conversation is your blueprint.About Jim MarascioJim Marascio is the founder and CEO of Equals 11, a certified Salesforce consulting partner that helps mid-market companies get real value from Salesforce long after go-live. With more than 25 years as a CEO, CIO, and CTO, he has built his career managing distributed teams, and today Equals 11 pairs a lean core team with a network of 600+ certified Salesforce engineers across the US, Latin America, and Europe. Guided by the belief in its name, 1 + 1 = 11, Jim has grown the firm from tactical delivery into strategic, consultative work for direct clients and system integrators alike.Resources and LinksEquals 11 Jim Marascio on LinkedInSalesforce AgentforceClaudeNeed help with your WHO and WHAT decisions? America loses its identity when it loses its story, and this conversation gets straight to the point. In this episode of The Smith and Rowland Show, Jeff Rowland and Alan Smith talk about biblical literacy, replacement theology, anti-Semitism, and why the Bible matters to the health of a nation. They connect current events, church teaching, and public policy to one central issue, whether people still understand the story that shaped America and the biblical view of Israel. The discussion starts with a look at an article on national identity, then moves into the dangers of replacing history with a new narrative. The conversation also touches on New York politics, the rise of anti-Israel rhetoric, and the wider impact of teaching that weakens the church's view of Scripture. Jeff and Alan make the case that when the church loses clarity, the culture follows. They also talk about why dispensational Bible teaching matters, why understanding Scripture is different from simply memorizing it, and why the parable of the sower points to more than just hearing the Word. Growth comes with understanding, and that point drives the whole episode. If you care about biblical truth, the future of the church, and the connection between Scripture and national identity, this episode is worth your time. Watch, listen, and judge the argument for yourself. #TheSmithAndRowlandShow #BiblicalIdentity #DispensationalTruth #BibleTeaching #ChristianPodcast

In this Midweek, Pastor Steve Perez explores the spiritual journey of believers, drawing parallels with the journey of Israel from Egypt to Canaan. He emphasizes the importance of understanding the process of spiritual growth, the role of leadership in the Christian community, and the struggles with rebellion and self-will that believers face. The lesson culminates in the significance of identity and community in Christ, urging believers to live holy lives as a reflection of their faith. In this lesson, Pastor Perez discusses the importance of maintaining a strong faith without compromise, the shift towards a visitor-centric church culture, and the necessity of embracing leadership and responsibility within the Christian community. He emphasizes the journey from spiritual slavery to sonship, urging believers to mature in their faith and actively serve God. The conversation concludes with a call to action for individuals to reflect on their responsibilities and contributions to the church and community.Pastor Steve Perez | June 23, 2026The Fountain Apostolic ChurchSOW (2026)Learn more at tfachurch.com/plusChapters:Introduction (00:00:00)Tyranny as Slavery (00:04:25)Hierarchy as Community (00:12:18)Individualism as Rebellion (00:22:09)Identity as Equals (00:30:55)All as Leaders (00:43:08)Conclusion (00:49:47)
The Alarm's final album Transformation came out May 29th, The album was made by beloved artist and musician, Mike Peters while he was in treatment for the cancer that ultimately took him. “Mike lived a life of beauty and never gave up right to the very end,” says Jules Peters, bandmate and wife.Described by Bono of U2 as “the second greatest rock and roll band in the world,” Mike Peters has been the driving force behind The Alarm for over forty creative years of new music making and dedication to presenting the band's classic songs in ways both imaginative and inventive. A voice of defiance and hope both on and off the stage, Peters first rose to prominence in the early 1980s with The Alarm, whose powerful anthems like "68 Guns" and "Strength" helped define a generation of alternative rock. Known for their empowering anthems and heartfelt lyrics, The Alarm garnered a devoted international following, with Peters' raw vocals and commanding stage presence at the heart of it all, garnering number one rock album chart hits in the USA / UK and 4 albums in the top 10 with Equals, Sigma, Omega and Forwards. During a music career that spanned five decades, Peters performed with some of music's greatest artists and bands including Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen and U2.Diagnosed with lymphoma in 1995 and later with chronic lymphocytic leukemia, Peters refused to let his illness silence him. Instead, he turned his fight into a mission to help others.Alongside his wife Jules, he co-founded Love Hope Strength, a music-driven cancer charity that revolutionized awareness and action around stem cell donation that continues beyond his passing. Through its innovative “Get On The List” campaigns—often hosted at rock concerts and even atop mountains—the charity has added over 400,000 people to the global stem cell registry and helped secure thousands of potential life-saving matches for patients worldwide. While this may seem like the final chapter for The Alarm, Transformation promises that the legacy of The Alarm will transform into something larger. While Mike has gone out in a blaze of glory, his love, hope and strength continues on. Echoing the title of the new single, Jules concludes, “Mike and the spirit of The Alarm will ‘Live Today,' forever more. I invite you all to blast Transformation out loud. Imagine Mike in the room with you. Transformation is his battle cry, his resilient love of life. Right to the very end, Mike believed that he was going to live, to be totally free. My last memory is driving him open top along the North Wales coast road, playing Transformation at maximum volume. He was so happy. So full of life. Playing his air drums, bass guitar, already imagining himself on his next world tour. So keep that positive spirit moving forwards. Imagine him as you all knew him best, striding out on to that stage, changing lives one concert at a time. This is an album of hope and a passionate celebration of a life well lived. Please do not be sad. Mike wouldn't want that. He was so proud of this album and had the best time recording it during the last six months of his life. Blast it out loud like Mike did. Play along to the track list and most of all, be happy that we all had Mike in our lives and continue to do so. A government office made a basic math mistake and a married couple pays for it with months apart. Craig Taylor joins us to unpack the true story behind his unforgettable book title, “2 Plus Banana Equals No,” a phrase born from a UK spouse visa refusal that relied on adding bank balances from different dates and treating the result like a real threshold check. It's absurd on paper, but it's devastating in real life.We talk through the full long-distance love story: meeting online, navigating travel constraints that push them to meet in Turkey, and choosing Batumi, Georgia for their wedding. Craig shares what it's like loving Olya while she's stuck in Russia under constant stress, and how the visa process turns everyday life into a loop of waiting, worry, and expensive legal steps. If you've searched for answers about UK spousal visas, Home Office appeals, visa refusals, or immigration bureaucracy, you'll hear what those systems feel like from the inside. We also get into the parts that make their relationship feel joyful and human: blending families after divorce, raising grown kids who now see you as a person, and learning each other's worlds through music, culture, and the small adventures that end up mattering most. Craig explains why he wrote the book, how the tone shifts from romantic comedy to something much heavier, and what he's building next with a companion website and petition so the story doesn't stop at the last page.Subscribe for more real conversations, share this with someone who cares about immigration fairness, and leave a review so more listeners can find the show.Support the showElsa's AMAZON STORE Elsa's FAITH & FREEDOM MERCH STOREElsa's BOOKSElsa Kurt: You may know her for her uncanny, viral Kamala Harris impressions & conservative comedy skits, but she's also a lifelong Patriot & longtime Police Wife. You are settling into your new country, and just starting to get the swing of things, with exciting travel plans with your partner on the horizon. But what happens when your friends back home start to come visit... too often? What happens when nearly every weekend you become hostess, tour guide, and chef, all rolled into one? We all love seeing our friends from back home—especially when we live far away—but is there too much of a good thing? Is it bad to want some space and freedom to travel without the constant stress of hosting guests? Or should we just be grateful they want to see us? This week, we discuss a letter we received from an anonymous listener who recently moved abroad, and is finding herself inundated with overnight guests nearly every other weekend? Is it ok for her to tell them, "you're welcome to visit once, but after that, please stay in a hotel?" Or is that unbearably rude? We share our thoughts on this potentially sticky topic on this all-new episode. Please share your thoughts as well! The New Discourses Podcast with James Lindsay, Ep. 205 Where did Communism really come from? Did it originate with Karl Marx? Is it... "Jewish"? The answers to these latter questions are no. Communism arose out of a combination of German idealism and French socialism, and the first documents on the subject were composed in France. In fact, not only that, the first revolutionary Communist was a Frenchman as well, Francois-Noel "Gracchus" Babeuf, who derived many of his ideas for communist life from an obscure French thinker and tax official named Etienne-Gabriel Morelly. Morelly wrote a tract called The Code of Nature (https://www.marxists.org/subject/utopian/morelly/code-nature.htm ) in 1755 outlining what we recognize today as Communism. Babeuf took these ideas and tried to install them through his "Conspiracy of the Equals," which had a manifesto, "The Manifesto of Equals," (https://theanarchistlibrary.org/library/sylvain-marechal-manifesto-of-equals) written by his collaborator Sylvain Marechal in 1796. In this episode of the New Discourses Podcast, host James Lindsay takes you through these documents and makes it abundantly clear that the Communist Manifesto Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels wrote in 1848 had these ideas at their core. Saint Constantine was born in 272, the son of Constantius Chlorus, ruler of the western part of the Roman Empire, and St Helen. When his father died in 306 he was proclaimed successor to the throne. The empire was ruled at that time by several Caesars, each with his own territory. When Constantine learned that the Caesars Maxentius and Maximinus had joined against him, he marched on Italy. It was there that, on the eve of a decisive battle outside Rome, he saw in the sky a radiant Cross with the words "In this sign conquer." He ordered that a battle-standard be made bearing the image of a cross and inscribed with the Name of Jesus Christ. The following day he and his forces attacked and won a spectacular victory. He entered Rome in triumph and in 312 was proclaimed "Emperor of the West" by the Senate. (His brother-in-law Licinius ruled in the East.) Soon thereafter he issued his "Edict of Milan," whereby Christianity was officially tolerated for the first time, and persecution of Christians ceased. (Many believe, mistakenly, that the Edict made Christianity the only legal religion; in fact, it proclaimed freedom of religion throughout the Empire). Licinius, though he pretended to accept the Edict, soon began persecuting Christians in his domain. In response, Constantine fought and defeated him in 324, becoming sole Emperor of the entire Roman Empire. In 324 he laid the foundations of a new capital in the town of Byzantium; in 330 he inaugurated the new capital city, naming it "New Rome" and "Constantinople." In 325 he called the First Ecumenical Council at Nicea, attending its sessions himself. Shortly before his repose in 337, he received Holy Baptism; he died on Holy Pentecost, at the age of sixty-five, and was interred in the Church of the Holy Apostles in Constantinople. St Constantine's holy mother Helen, in her role as "Augusta" of the Empire, founded countless churches. She traveled to Jerusalem and found the True Cross on which the Lord was crucified. In the Holy Land she established churches at the sites of Christ's Nativity and burial, which still stand today in much-modified form. She died at about eighty years of age.
There's one essential Truth every believer must grasp: grace equals power—supernatural power that can raise a dead soul to life and carry you through the darkest seasons. In this episode of the MY Devotional Podcast, Dr. Michael Youssef anchors your heart in God's promise to Paul: “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9). Dr. Youssef explains why thorns matter: without weakness, we would rarely see—or be able to testify to—the sufficiency of God's grace. Grace is most clearly displayed when self-reliance collapses, when circumstances feel heavy, and when you realize you need God more than you need relief. You'll also be reminded of God's steadfast commitment to finish what He started in you (Philippians 1:6), to empower you for godly living (2 Peter 1:3), and to keep you secure in His hands forever (John 10:28–29). No sin is beyond the atoning reach of Christ's blood, and no trial is too dark for the Gospel's sustaining hope (2 Corinthians 4:16–18). If you've been staring so long at the thorn that you can't see the rose of grace, this devotional calls you to look up—remember God's promises—and rejoice in the power of His sufficient grace. Prayer: Lord, help me to take my eyes off my thorn. May my gaze instead be fixed upon Your throne. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen. “I became a servant of this gospel by the gift of God's grace given me through the working of his power” (Ephesians 3:7). Learn more in Dr. Michael A. Youssef's sermon series The Secrets of Positive Living: LISTEN NOW The voice you hear on the MY Devotional podcast is digitally generated with Dr. Youssef's permission. If today's devotional stirred a question, burden, or need for prayer, you don't have to walk through it alone.

The two saints were brothers, born in Thessalonica. St Methodius, the elder brother, served as a soldier for ten years before becoming a monk. Cyril was librarian at the Hagia Sophia in Constantinople; then he too became a monk. Their first missionary work was not among the Slavs: When the king of the Khazars (a Mongol people who then inhabited much of what is now Russia) petitioned the Emperor Michael to sent teachers to instruct his people, the Emperor chose Cyril and Methodius as his emissaries. They converted the Khazar king to the Christian faith, along with many of his nobles and commoners. When King Rostislav of Moravia likewise sought teachers of the Christian faith, Cyril and Methodius were again sent forth. This time they devised an alphabet for the Slavic language and used it to translate many of the Greek service books into the language of the people. (In theory, the Orthodox people have always been privileged to hear the Church's services in their own tongue, though often attachment to dead languages has prevented this ideal from becoming reality.) Both brothers were repeatedly attacked by Germanic priests of the region, who opposed the use of the common tongue in the liturgy. At different times, both brothers were forced to appeal for exoneration and protection to the Pope of Rome, who supported them warmly each time. After the two Saints reposed, attacks on their work continued, and their disciples were eventually driven from Moravia. The disciples, fleeing southward, found a warmer welcome among the southern Slavic peoples, and their work bore much fruit in Bulgaria (including modern-day Serbia) and other countries. And, of course, the alphabet that they devised, called Cyrillic after St Cyril, remains the standard alphabet of both the Slavonic service books of the Church and the Slavic languages of today.
I watched The Belle Collective expecting messy TV. What I got instead was a real question about love, loyalty, and what success can expose. In this episode, I'm talking through the tension that hit me while watching one couple shift in real time. When one partner starts building something bigger, what happens to the marriage that helped get them there? And when money, image, and ambition all change at once, how do you tell the difference between growth and checking out?I get into why one storyline on this reality show felt bigger than reality TV, the moment that made me think divorce might already be loading, and why conversations about trust, value, and partnership get real uncomfortable real fast. I'm also asking a question a lot of people avoid: when somebody says, “I don't need you in this part of my life,” what does that actually mean for the relationship? If you've ever watched a couple outgrow each other—or claim they did—this one's for you. And honestly, I want to know if you saw the same red flags I did. Timestamps0:05 - I set up the episode and explain why The Belle Collective caught my attention 2:10 - The backstory on Glenn and Latricia's marriage5:20 - Why her business growth changes the whole dynamic 9:15 - My take on trust, management, and being kept in the dark 13:40 - The postnuptial agreement moment that raised my eyebrow 18:05 - What this says about ambition, marriage, and being “on the come up” 22:10 - My bigger point for men trying to read the signs in a relationship If this episode hits a nerve, watch the full conversation and tell me where you land. And if you want more honest commentary with a little bite to it, stick with me at Nerdy's Umbrella.

By 2030, more than a million people are expected to be living with dementia in the UK. It is among the most feared conditions — and yet a new book challenges the dominant tragedy narrative surrounding it, proposing instead a vision of social justice and equality for those living with the condition. What does it mean to treat someone with dementia as a social equal? How should care be reformed to better secure that equality? And what are the practical changes — in policy and in everyday life — that could make a real difference? Joining host Emily McTernan is Dr. Matilda Carter, Lecturer in Applied Ethics at the University of Leeds, to discuss her new book published by Cambridge University Press. Mentioned in this episode: Relating to People Living with Dementia as Equals: Towards Social Justice in Dementia Care by Matilda Carter (Cambridge University Press, 2025).
Does more money mean more wealth? It feels obvious. Bigger balances, higher prices, stronger currencies — that must mean progress. But that assumption quietly distorts how people think about investing, risk, and the economy. In this episode, Andy Tanner and economist Ryan Young dismantle the idea that money itself is wealth. They explain why currency is only a measuring tool — and how confusing the measurement with the thing being measured leads to poor decisions at both the personal and policy level. The conversation goes deeper than definitions. It connects monetary policy, inflation, trade, and technological change into a single framework: real wealth is created by goods, services, and productive ideas — not by expanding the money supply. They also explore a tension most investors ignore. On one side, AI and technology are creating powerful deflationary forces. On the other, fiscal policy continues to expand debt in ways that may be unsustainable. Both forces matter. But they don't affect wealth the same way. This episode won't tell you where markets are going. It will clarify what actually drives value — and why understanding that distinction changes how you invest, allocate, and think long term. 1. Military Morale and Leadership U.S. military morale has significantly strengthened by a commander-in-chief who is willing to risk substantial resources to rescue a single American service member. Trump is contrasted against Clinton (Somalia), Obama (Libya), and Biden (Afghanistan), portraying those administrations as failing to protect troops. The U.S. military ethos: soldiers fight aggressively because they trust that medics, rescue forces, and leadership will risk everything to save them. 2. U.S. Military Culture and “Quiet Math of American Violence” Highlight inter-service respect (Marines, Navy corpsmen, Air Force PJs). American combat effectiveness comes not just from training or equipment, but from certainty that help will arrive under fire, reinforcing battlefield courage. 3. Trump’s Iran Policy and Deterrence Strategy Trump’s foreign policy is: “FAFO” (forceful consequences for aggression) Transactional with allies (support is conditional) Infrastructure strikes are: Intended to cripple military and economic capability Designed to pressure the population to overthrow the regime A deliberate choice not to destroy oil infrastructure to preserve post‑conflict recovery potential 4. War Crimes Accusations and Legal Defense Democrats and media figures are labeling infrastructure strikes as “war crimes.” This is countered by citing the Pentagon’s Law of War Manual, arguing that power generation and infrastructure supporting military operations can be lawful military objectives. 5. View of Iranian Leadership Iran’s rulers are theocratic extremists who: Do not care about civilian suffering Are willing to sacrifice large portions of their population Doubts are expressed about whether economic devastation would deter or influence regime behavior. 6. Immigration and Violent Crime Violent crimes committed by undocumented immigrants are widespread and underreported Democratic policies (sanctuary cities, TPS, opposition to ICE) directly enabled these crimes Several specific criminal cases argue that border enforcement failures have led to American deaths.
