It's just Kevin and Lauren this week and they came prepared. They talk about Life of Chuck, Cleaner, Materialists, The Swarm, and Equals. Lauren kicks off the show with a largely positive review of the new Mike Flanagan/Stephen King joint, The Life of Chuck. Putting those two men together you'd think this would be a horror fest, but it's a poignant film about a man's life. Early comparisons were drawn to The Shawshank Redemption, but Lauren feels this movie doesn't quite have that same depth. All in all, it's still a good movie and worth a watch. Speaking of good movies, Kevin didn't bother to watch any this. Instead, he kicks off his first of two “I watched it so you didn't have to” segments with Cleaner on MAX. This is Die Hard clone that lacks much of the DNA that made that film great. It's not necessarily a bad film, but you'd do better with the OG. It stars Daisy Ridley as a former soldier turned window cleaner who gets stuck outside her building when eco terrorists take over. She's forced to battle her way back inside (which takes far too long) so that she can save the day because, of course, the entire police force is unable to breach the building. Look, it's better than Skyscraper, so there's that… We flip back to goodness with Lauren's review of Materialists, starring Dakota Johnson, Chris Evans, and some guy named Pedro Pascal. It's a love story and billed as a RomCom, though Lauren and Kevin discuss the fact that it's less funny and more thoughtful than most, leaving it a bit in the ratings limbo. Folks going to see a Failure to Launch type movie are coming out disappointed. That said, it's a really good movie about love and self discovery and is well worth a watch. Just go in with more grounded expectations. Let's talk about expectations for a second. Have you ever seen the trailer or poster for something ad said to yourself, “that's going to suck”? A wise person would not watch said offering. But Kevin has no fear. On HBO, he came across the series The Swarm and it's… well… not good. It's not about a killer swarm of bees. That would make sense. It's about an underwater hive mind turning everything in the ocean against humanity. Think The Abyss, but globally, and much, much worse. At its core, it ends up being a neat concept but a very poor offering overall. Getting into the spirit, Lauren closes the show with a review of the film, Equals. It stars Nicolas Holt and Kristen Stewart and that's about where the good part ends. It's a futuristic society where people have been stripped of emotion and if you develop emotions, you get wiped. Our two stars develop emotions (obviously) and fall in love (obviously-er) which leads to them struggling to escape this world so they can be together. It ends on a semi tragic, semi vague note that leaves you wondering, “why did I do this?” As always, thank you for watching. If you haven't already, don't forget to Like & Subscribe. We love new viewers! Also, leave us comments and let is know how we are doing and what we can be doing better. Enjoy the episode and have a great week! Tribulation comes to everyone. For a faith-believing Christian we know that tribulation, a valley experience, will always result in a victory, a mountain experience! A perfect example is a listing of Paul's tribulations, and always ending in victory for his work for the Lord. 2Co 11:25-31 "Of the Jews five times received I forty stripes save one. Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep; In journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by mine own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren; In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness. Beside those things that are without, that which cometh upon me daily, the care of all the churches. Who is weak, and I am not weak? who is offended, and I burn not? If I must needs glory, I will glory of the things which concern mine infirmities. The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which is blessed for evermore, knoweth that I lie not.

Saint Constantine was born in 272, the son of Constantius Chlorus, ruler of the western part of the Roman Empire, and St Helen. When his father died in 306 he was proclaimed successor to the throne. The empire was ruled at that time by several Caesars, each with his own territory. When Constantine learned that the Caesars Maxentius and Maximinus had joined against him, he marched on Italy. It was there that, on the eve of a decisive battle outside Rome, he saw in the sky a radiant Cross with the words "In this sign conquer." He ordered that a battle-standard be made bearing the image of a cross and inscribed with the Name of Jesus Christ. The following day he and his forces attacked and won a spectacular victory. He entered Rome in triumph and in 312 was proclaimed "Emperor of the West" by the Senate. (His brother-in-law Licinius ruled in the East.) Soon thereafter he issued his "Edict of Milan," whereby Christianity was officially tolerated for the first time, and persecution of Christians ceased. (Many believe, mistakenly, that the Edict made Christianity the only legal religion; in fact, it proclaimed freedom of religion throughout the Empire).   Licinius, though he pretended to accept the Edict, soon began persecuting Christians in his domain. In response, Constantine fought and defeated him in 324, becoming sole Emperor of the entire Roman Empire. In 324 he laid the foundations of a new capital in the town of Byzantium; in 330 he inaugurated the new capital city, naming it "New Rome" and "Constantinople." In 325 he called the First Ecumenical Council at Nicea, attending its sessions himself. Shortly before his repose in 337, he received Holy Baptism; he died on Holy Pentecost, at the age of sixty-five, and was interred in the Church of the Holy Apostles in Constantinople.   St Constantine's holy mother Helen, in her role as "Augusta" of the Empire, founded countless churches. She traveled to Jerusalem and found the True Cross on which the Lord was crucified. In the Holy Land she established churches at the sites of Christ's Nativity and burial, which still stand today in much-modified form. She died at about eighty years of age.

Holy Equals-to-the-Apostles Methodius (885) and Cyril (869), first teachers of the Slavs - May 11

Saint of the Day

Play Episode Listen Later May 11, 2025

The two saints were brothers, born in Thessalonica. St Methodius, the elder brother, served as a soldier for ten years before becoming a monk. Cyril was librarian at the Hagia Sophia in Constantinople; then he too became a monk.   Their first missionary work was not among the Slavs: When the king of the Khazars (a Mongol people who then inhabited much of what is now Russia) petitioned the Emperor Michael to sent teachers to instruct his people, the Emperor chose Cyril and Methodius as his emissaries. They converted the Khazar king to the Christian faith, along with many of his nobles and commoners.   When King Rostislav of Moravia likewise sought teachers of the Christian faith, Cyril and Methodius were again sent forth. This time they devised an alphabet for the Slavic language and used it to translate many of the Greek service books into the language of the people. (In theory, the Orthodox people have always been privileged to hear the Church's services in their own tongue, though often attachment to dead languages has prevented this ideal from becoming reality.) Both brothers were repeatedly attacked by Germanic priests of the region, who opposed the use of the common tongue in the liturgy. At different times, both brothers were forced to appeal for exoneration and protection to the Pope of Rome, who supported them warmly each time.   After the two Saints reposed, attacks on their work continued, and their disciples were eventually driven from Moravia. The disciples, fleeing southward, found a warmer welcome among the southern Slavic peoples, and their work bore much fruit in Bulgaria (including modern-day Serbia) and other countries. And, of course, the alphabet that they devised, called Cyrillic after St Cyril, remains the standard alphabet of both the Slavonic service books of the Church and the Slavic languages of today.

There is a blueprint for the way they wanted everything to work out, but those plans have changed. A so called space alien speaks. Channeling thru the CIA spokesthing. Kamala was going to give us aliens, and Trump enlightenment. An observed program we can see. Some people have what we know as empty DNA. What does he say about Jesus Christ? An interstellar social experiment, step six. This guy worked on the Star Trek films. Paledians, hibreds and grays. The entire Taiwan situation is a big show. They are in rogue province limbo. Don't be focusing on other people and not the 40k foot view. The illusion of participation. You are the product. Domination is administered assimilation. You're not living, you're loading. Tier one Chinese shipyards are military. Think carefully about our Taiwan relationship. Bio sensors on the mouse? A controlled narrative with mutual benefits. A calculated performance. A real war would cripple economies. The US sells billions in weapons to Taiwan. The perfect fear feedback loop. Newsom's fake manufacturing. Everyone is an F'g liar. The entire goal of digital bio surveillance in healthcare. The WEF's evil goals. Know when you speak the truth, that nobody wants to hear it. We must decide what role we're playing, and use their governing tools to our own advantage.

In part 2 of this special edition of Crosstalk, William began by explaining how you want to be involved in government so that you can have a nation where our children can have a personal experience with Jesus. So if you don't get involved, whatever non-believers are pushing in schools, that silence equals consent. The reason this is critical is because today schools act as though there is no God and seem to believe that if there is one, he's messed up. After all, they believe he's put men in women's bodies so we have to have operations to fix it. They say that any type of sex is OK. If that's true, there is no sin, and if there's no sin, there's no need for a Savior. In essence, they want you to be "tolerant" while they teach children an anti-Christian agenda...the religion of anti-Christ. What about those who believe they're being holy by not being involved? Then you have to consider what to do with Numbers chapter 30. It contains numerous situations where silence equals consent. For example, if a daughter binds herself with a vow while living in her father's house in her youth, and her father hears her vow and holds his peace, then all her vows shall stand. However, if her father overrules her on the day he hears, then none of her vows shall stand and the Lord will release her. This has come down to us in our day as vows in a wedding ceremony. In law this is referred to as the Rule of Tacit Admission. It's in Blacks Law Dictionary. It's an admission reasonably inferable from a party's failure to act or speak.

Today and tomorrow Crosstalk is broadcasting the audio from a VCY Road Rally Tour in September 2023 where William J Federer spoke on the topic "Silence Equals Consent." This recording took place at Trail Ridge Camp in Hillsboro, WI.Throughout history there are examples of oppression against mankind. In each of these situations there are those who didn't want to create waves. Yet others stood for their cause and impacted the lives of many for the better. How does this affect the believer? After all, if the issues don't affect you, why should it matter? William communicates that it's because the Lord wants to see what's in your heart. Should believers remain silent? Is there a proper time to speak up?
