Sophia Rossi has been a babysitter, an assistant, a TV producer, a founder, a CEO, and now...city councilwoman? But that's for the future. As a former producer on MTV's The Hills and The City, Sophia went on to co-found HelloGiggles (alongside BFFs Zooey Deschanel and Molly McAleer) and sell the media company to Time Inc. in 2016. Today, the 36-year-old entrepreneur keeps good company among L.A.'s glitterati and is focusing on her spice company called Hi Note. She met up with Alli and Michael to dish on her Hills days as a young producer, choosing an internship over college, and what the next steps are after selling a company for millions of dollars. This week I sit down with former producer on The Hills, Hello Giggles co-founder, and my friend of 13 years, Sophia Rossi. We chat about what it was like to produce reality TV, lessons learned from launching and selling a successful media company, and her latest venture, a spice company called Hi Note.
Sophia Rossi's résumé is filled with accomplishments, but there's one achievement you won't find on there: graduate. The fiercely successful CEO of women's lifestyle website HelloGiggles skipped college to dive straight into full-time work after high school. In episode 13 of Second Life, Rossi talks about working as a producer on The Hills, learning from startup mistakes, and what it takes to be a great manager.
While watching a riveting CNN documentary series about television throughout the 1960s, ’70s and ’80s, I was struck with how every generation complained about the same thing. People protested and courtrooms were filled for public hearings and lawsuits about how TV is ruining us all. I can certainly think of more than a handful of idiotic shows that deserve to be cut. But when you get down to it, there’s some good that comes from seeing real women on the small screen, like Queen Elizabeth II’s first televised Christmas speech in 1957, or Michelle Obama’s televised famous words from the 2016 Democratic National Convention, “When they go low, we go high.” The post Sophia Rossi: She’s Inspiring Smiles and Giggles appeared first on On The Dot Woman.
Riki talks to producer and Hello Giggles co-founder Sophia Rossi about the reality of The Hills, working with partners and feminism.
Includes passage from Cleo Wade's Heart Talk: Poetic Wisdom for a Better Life In this week’s episode, we’re talking with major girlboss Sophia Rossi about work, life transitions, and how we can integrate spirituality across it all. A former producer of The Hills, Sophia has been no stranger to kicking butt at anything she does. But after the company she founded alongside Zooey Deschanel and Molly McAlleer, HelloGiggles, successfully sold, she found herself slightly lost for what was next, and reevaluating exactly where she found value. We talk about how both her Jewish roots and Transcendental Meditation practice have shaped her perspective and regular rituals (including the ability to turn her phone off and set harder boundaries), the power of positivity and community online, and ultimately how to go through challenging times and honor your experience on the other side.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/dentalks-powered-by-den-meditation7294/donations
