We all want to be a part of something! And that's bad by the way. Today we're joined by crossword afficionado Demi Adejuyigbe to talk about the brainy older sister of adult coloring books: adult word games. Are crosswords just a safe way for people in their 30s to practice being old men or are they leading to historically low literacy levels because they are replacing book-reading? Is knowing a bunch of random trivia a form of toxic information-domming? Has the New York Times lost its way? This episode is perfect for all the Gilmore Girls or Gilmore Guys out there! Take a stroll through your favorite charming town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut! Just remember - everything's magical when it snows. This episode gives your day an infusion of magic, or it sets you up for delightful dreams if you listen at bedtime. More refreshing than a cup of coffee from Luke's Diner! The Binaural Beats Music in the background is ideal for initiating a meditative state.
If you're out on the road, feeling lonely and so cold, all you have to do is listen to this episode, and your spirits will be lifted, because today we're talking about Gilmore Girls! Joel loves this popular TV series—even though he doesn't pronounce some of the names correctly—and he's grateful that our guest, Aleesha, finally made this topic happen on Baconsale. Meanwhile, Kent is a little more cynical (much like Luke Danes), and Zack is getting his opinions IM-ed to him from his wife. Enjoy as we talk very rapidly about the basic storyline, gossip about Lorelai's and Rory's relationships, and even reenact a couple scenes from the show. Press play to be introduced to the residents of Stars Hollow.

This week, we're talking about Season 2, Episode 4: David, David, David. Like the roommates, we grow increasingly frustrated with David's antics this episode. We also see Tami go on a dating show, an excursion to Melrose, embarrassing stories being shared at a Cheesecake Factory, and a friendly game of bowling erupt into a shouting match. Other topics include questionable college mascots, Rebecca's butt-breaking story, Krystie's OkCupid horror story, crazy weather we're having, and Krystie details her utterly Californian morning. Skirts with cowboy boots is where Rebecca draws the line, yo! We have two listener challenges this week! They are... Challenge 1: Can you write a better episode synopsis than IMDB? Once again, we have a lackluster IMDB synopsis (which seems to be the thing this season) and we'd definitely read better ones on the air if they were provided. Challenge 2: What should we call our listeners? My Favorite Murder has Murderinos, Gilmore Guys had Gillies...what fun nickname can we call y'all? If you want to participate in these challenges, comment on our social media or email us at friendsamongstrangerspod@gmail.com! We're still not in the pockets of Big Podcast and therefore cannot give a financial incentive, but we'll definitely give you credit on air and on social media for your contributions if/when we use them. Follow us on social media! We're @friendsamongstrangerspod on both Facebook and Instagram, and @FAS_pod on Twitter.

This week's podcast starts off with a correction and omission, but that springboards us off into the world of Beauty and The Beast's "Exclusively Gay Moment." We explore what that term even implies and how they majorly goofed trying to execute it. We discuss other shows and movies that have tried to push the envelope and some that have happily succeeded. And, as always, we finish with recommendations for each other. Shannon re-recommends the Gilmore Guys podcast for their new episodes focusing on Bunheads as well as the new NBC comedy Trial & Error. Becca is mid-binge of The Americans as wants everyone to join her. Follow us on Twitter @BWGPodcast
On the third anniversary of the release of the first episode of MBSing, MBS holed up in a studio and took 35 calls from past guests of the show. The topics ranged from specific episode updates to current concerns to catching up. The guest list filled quickly, and there were a handful of interested parties who wanted to catch me on another day (and a couple people I specifically reached out to as I knew they had incredible follow-up tales). Here are those six stragglers: Rob Grabowski, who humored me with a discussion about the new Ghostbusters film and decried Clue and Hook as beloved films that do not hold up. For more of Rob's film thoughts, check out his show The Remake. Matt Young, who talked about our mutual love of Paul F. Tompkins, the success of Hello From the Magic Tavern, and our fRiEnDsHiP. Bret Dorman, who expounded on his move to Austin and the successful completion of his short film, Godzilla P.I. Which everyone reading these words should watch because how fucking cool is it that he made that happen? Mel Evans, who lamented the tragic loss of Michelle MacNamera, shared some thoughts on the return of the OJ Simpson trial to the zeitgeist, and let me talk at her about how ill-regulated forensic science is across the country. Rosie Moan, who shared how therapy has changed how she views her sexuality and her relationship since we spoke on them at length less than a year ago. Check out her podcast, Obsessed. Jo Feldman, who recently appeared as the guest for a live recording of Gilmore Guys (!!!) and reflected on the upcoming Netflix season of her beloved Gilmore Girls.
