Australians are soon heading to the polls to cast their vote in the federal election but many end up finalising their ballot early on in the process. One university researcher says this is trend is becoming more popular and evidence from the Australian Electoral Commission backs this up.
Bob Bates is a good friend of WEXT. He has been by to visit several times, and we are always happy to hear what he has going on.

SIRSY and WEXT go back a long time together. And we truly enjoy every time we get to interact with Mel and RIch, even if it's just over the phone with some miles in between. The duo have been productive during the first half of 2020 streaming live on their YouTube page, baking cookies, and writing new material. SIRSY has given WEXT exclusive access to a song born out of quarantine called, "Astronauts." It'll be released on the duo's website October 1st, but WEXT listeners can hear it before then on the radio.
A musician who contributed to the development of the banjo and a way of playing that bears his name, and a band named after a piece of road leading out of Boston. This is episode 39 of Caffe Lena: 60 Years of Song. Thank you to Sarah at the Caffe for the list of songs and artists for this feature. How do you know you brought about change in music? Bill Keith made significant stylistic development to the banjo and introduced a way of playing that would later be called “Keith Style”. He also invented the Keith tuning peg, which became the primary product of his own company - The Beacon Banjo Company, which is now run by his son. Mile Twelve is made up of five of the most promising young musicians in bluegrass . They got their name from the mile marker that sits on Boston’s southern border on I-93. It is a road sign they have passed countless times when heading out on tour. We’ve seen them at the Caffe, and other venues around the 518. Caffe Lena : 60 Years of Song , a production of WEXT
Sisters who aren’t sisters, and a musician who continually defies categorization. This is episode 31 of Caffe Lena : 60 Years of Song . Thanks to Sarah for creating the list of songs and artists for this feature. The Chenille Sisters are three uniquely gifted women , who aren’t even sisters. Their quirkiness and harmonies appeal to all generations. Their country-folk sounds originally targeted big kids like us, but they have made albums specifically for kids and a PBS special led to a children’s book review series they hosted on NPR. Erin McKeown defies categorization . She started studying ornithology, you know, birds, in college before switching to ethnomusicology. Her music contains a mix of genres from pop to swing, folk to electronic. She also collaborated on a musical that was nominated for five Drama Desk Awards. And she’s a frequent visitor to WEXT and the Caffe. Caffe Lena: 60 Years of Song, a production of WEXT Radio.

On this 100th episode of CRUMBS Cafe, we take to time to step back and look at the over 90 bands that came through the studios over the years.
