This week we're breaking down Moroccan Christmas! When Meredith gets too drunk at Phyllis' Moroccan themed Christmas party and lights her own hair on fire, Michael forces an intervention. Phyllis also reveals to the entire office that Angela is having an affair with Dwight. Well, everyone in the office except Andy… The ladies talk about how this was a big prop week for prop master, Phil Shea, Jenna finds something special while cleaning out her desk and Angela shares one of the best Michael Scott alts that didn't make it into the show. We also hear clips from Stephen Saux on what it was like to test out the fakey Dwight desk used in the cold open, and Jen Celotta shares a very funny Paul Liberstein story. So get ready for a big shot of Michael Scott and enjoy this episode! When Meredith goes out to pick up dinner and also take a break from Alison haranguing her to process her abusive childhood the way Alison (who only became fully conscious of her own about three days ago) thinks she should, Mr. Parker sneaks into the house, accosts Alison, and starts trying to talk her into returning to Billy so that she can keep up appearances for the sake of the family, as she's always done in the past. Little does he know that Meredith has a gun! And Billy is also there, suddenly, to help, kind of! In the aftermath, Alison wants to talk about pressing charges against Mr. Parker, but Meredith just wants to cut ties, again, and put this unpleasantness behind them. Once they're back in L.A., Billy eventually tells Alison he thinks Meredith is right. But does Alison? Kimberly rushes to Michael's bedside straight from having spent several hours all alone at the USC library, just in time for him to go in for emergency surgery on his cerebral swelling! Sydney gets home to find the complex swarming with cops and realizes Kimberly has followed through on one of her many murder plots -- and that this one implicated Jane! But when she goes to talk to Jane in jail, she finds out Jane suspects Sydney did it! ...Which she might have, if Kimberly hadn't realized Sydney was too skittish and proceeded without her. Anyway, Sydney doesn't have an alibi, Michael doesn't have any memory of his life before waking up after surgery, and Jane doesn't have any reason NOT to throw suspicion on Sydney. Jake pulls an "I choose me" on Amanda and Jo, swearing off relationships, only to get entangled IMMEDIATELY with Brittany (Kathy Ireland!) (?), a woman fleeing a rich, powerful, abusive husband with lots of sketchy connections. This is the story of football's first superstar. This is the story of a boy miner who became a global celebrity, the story of a man with as much skill as almost any footballer who came after him in the 20th-century, this is the story of a man who dedicated his life to the improvement of players' rights, this is the story of Billy Meredith.Billy Meredith is genuinely one of the greatest names in football. Almost a century after his final game for Manchester United and Wales, he is still regarded as one of the best players to feature for club and country. When Meredith made his final appearance for Manchester City (yeah we'll get onto that) he was only four months shy of his 50th (yes 50th!) birthday. In a career spanning across a quite ridiculous four decades, Meredith had won the FA Cup with both United and City, played more than 300 games for both clubs and had been banned for bribery. His career, and his career took up most of his life, is one filled with the most brilliant stories. He is the subject of Episode Six of United Through Time and concludes over first series: "The Formative Figures". See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Dr. Meredith Hughes is an Associate Professor of Astronomy at Wesleyan University. In her research, Meredith uses large radio telescopes to study how planets form around other stars. After stars are formed, disks of leftover gas and dust go on to form planets. Meredith studies how this process works, the conditions that exist in these early disks, how the disks form planets, and the types of planets that form around stars. Studying this process in other star systems helps us learn more about our own solar system and how it formed. When Meredith isn’t working, you can find her hanging out with her husband, two young kids, and their dog. She also enjoys reading fantasy and sci-fi books, being outdoors, and volunteering in her community. She received her B.S. degree in Physics & Astronomy from Yale University. Afterwards, Meredith attended graduate school at Harvard University where she received her M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Astronomy. She was awarded a Miller Fellowship to conduct postdoctoral research in the Department of Astronomy at the University of California, Berkeley before she joined the faculty at Wesleyan University in 2013. Meredith has received the Harvard Astronomy Department's Fireman Fellowship for her outstanding doctoral thesis as well as Harvard Astronomy’s Bok Prize for research excellence by a Ph.D. graduate under the age of 35. In addition, she was selected as a Cottrell Scholar in 2018 by the Research Corporation for Science Advancement. In our interview, Meredith shares more about her life and science.
When Meredith and I were engaged I came up with a rule for when we were registering for things. I got to hold the registration gun. You know, the electronic scanner that puts stuff on your digital registry? I felt like it was attempting to maintain some sort of influence over all of the rather unexciting things that are part of showers and getting married. In short, I felt the need to be in control of something. Jesus talks about a lot of things. But there are a few things that come up more than others. And at the top of the list is money. He calls it treasures, possessions, wealth..etc, but we are talking about money. But is it really about money, or is there something deeper going on? I’ll let you read our scripture for the message and let you make that decision. As Jesus was starting out on his way to Jerusalem, a man came running up to him, knelt down, and asked, “Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” “Why do you call me good?” Jesus asked. “Only God is truly good. But to answer your question, you know the commandments: ‘You must not murder. You must not commit adultery. You must not steal. You must not testify falsely. You must not cheat anyone. Honor your father and mother.’” “Teacher,” the man replied, “I’ve obeyed all these commandments since I was young.” Looking at the man, Jesus felt genuine love for him. “There is still one thing you haven’t done,” he told him. “Go and sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” At this the man’s face fell, and he went away sad, for he had many possessions. Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, “How hard it is for the rich to enter the Kingdom of God!” This amazed them. But Jesus said again, “Dear children, it is very hard to enter the Kingdom of God. In fact, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of God!” The disciples were astounded. “Then who in the world can be saved?” they asked. Jesus looked at them intently and said, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But not with God. Everything is possible with God.” Then Peter began to speak up. “We’ve given up everything to follow you,” he said. “Yes,” Jesus replied, “and I assure you that everyone who has given up house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or property, for my sake and for the Good News, will receive now in return a hundred times as many houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, and property—along with persecution. And in the world to come that person will have eternal life. But many who are the greatest now will be least important then, and those who seem least important now will be the greatest then.” CALLS TO ACTION What drives you? What do you need right now that you can't provide for yourself?
Meredith Marsh is a “total introvert with over 3 million views on YouTube.” When Meredith started VidProMom.com she didn’t set out to be a “YouTuber”. She started a blog and YouTube channel because she wanted to help families better capture those classic, picture-perfect family moments. What she discovered was “a pretty big gap in the whole video creation side of things for people who are creating videos for fun,” Meredith said. She started creating a video series on how to use a GoPro and some of the software - and things quickly snowballed. Her YouTube channel was getting more subscribers than all her other social media metrics and blog visitors added together – so it was obvious that YouTube was the ideal platform for her content. Note: Click here to download Meredith’s top tips for growing a YouTube channel from this episode. A year after starting her channel Meredith left her day job, and her blog/YouTube channel that started as a side hustle is now her full-time job. Tune in to hear how to set up your YouTube channel for success, how to master the YouTube algorithm to reach more people, and how to make money from your new video content.

An important conversation about why eating disorders are being forgotten in the medical world, despite the fact that they cause the most deaths among all mental illnesses. In our last episode, we met Meredith Healey, a young woman who battled with anorexia and anxiety in her first year of university. But there’s one part of Meredith’s story that really stands out for us. While she was gripped by her first panic attack, she went to the hospital thinking she was having a heart attack. An ER doctor helped by asking her to breathe into a paper bag. When Meredith eventually calmed down, the doctor simply sent her home. At this point, Meredith was 100 pounds. She was skinny and frail, yet the ER doctor didn’t pick up on any physical signs pointing to a mental illness. Where is the disconnect when it comes to recognition by healthcare professionals? For more insight we asked Dr. Brian Goldman, an ER doctor and host of CBC Radio’s White Coat, Black Art, to join us for a chat.
This is the story of a young woman’s descent down a dark and dangerous path of anorexia and anxiety. Body image can be a focal point for so many students starting out in university. But too often it can become an obsession. And in Meredith Healey’s case, it turned into a hunger game that threatened her life. It all started out as an innocent attempt at avoiding the Freshman 15. You know, those inevitable 15 pounds you gain during first year of university or college, thanks to bad eating habits and excessive drinking. In Meredith’s case, this notion quickly sparked an infatuation with weight-loss, fueled by fashion magazines. Without even realizing it she became anorexic. When Meredith stepped foot on campus, she was frail and weak. Her eating disorder, paired with the mounting pressure of maintaining a B+ average to stay in her program, triggered a series of never-ending panic attacks. Hear her story on this episode of Campus.
