#1,006 - Keith Spera Keith Spera joins The Paul Leslie Hour to reminisce Clarence "Frogman" Henry & Jimmy Buffett. Are you here? Ain't that something! You are here, listening to The Paul Leslie Hour. Welcome to episode #1,006! We've got something you're going to want to listen to, and listen to again. Keith Spera is on the line with us. Keith writes about New Orleans music, culture and all that stuff for The Times Picayune. Although much to humble to admit it, he's an authority on New Orleans music. You can read his writings on NOLA.com and watch the show he hosts, “Let's Talk with Keith Spera” on WLAE-TV and on YouTube. Keith was so kind to call in to talk about the 2024 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, and two legendary musicians much associated with Jazz Fest: Jimmy Buffett who passed away September 1, 2023 and our friend Clarence “Frogman” Henry who passed away April 7, 2024. And folks, it would mean the world to us if you subscribed to Paul Leslie's YouTube channel. We are trying to promote the channel because we want to get more of our content out there to people just like you. Be sure to like our videos and by all means comment. And now, let's switch it over to Paul and Keith Spera.
Maybe someone should just tell Michael Thomas he should stay off social media for a little bit. During the season he was going at quarterback Derek Carr and his coaches. On Thursday, he wasn't happy Times-Picayune sports columnist Jeff Duncan was reporting Thomas would be released from the Saints sometime late next week. What do you think? Well, we have our own thoughts on Friday's Dattitude Podcast (Ep. 212), and host Jim Derry brings in Eric Asher, who hosts “Inside New Orleans” daily on 106.1-FM The Ticket and weekly on WLAE-TV, to discuss that and the state of the New Orleans Pelicans and LSU baseball team (12-1) and set for a weekend series against Xavier (Ohio). In Jim's “Extra Point,” he gives a shout out to his alma mater, the Archbishop Shaw High Eagles, who after going to the semifinals in football this past December and winning a state championship in wrestling last month, made it to the semis in the state basketball tournament for the third straight season.

Stuart Taylor, Jr. is one of our nation's most highly respected legal journalists, a lawyer, and co-author of The Campus Rape Frenzy. He has for 35 years written about a wide range of legal and political issues for the New York Times, National Journal, American Lawyer Media, Newsweek, and many other prominent outlets. Taylor is a frequent media guest who has appeared on hundreds of television and radio programs nationwide. He also taught at Stanford Law School in 2011 and 2012. Taylor received his B.A. from Princeton and graduated at the top of his class at Harvard Law School, where he was an editor of the Harvard Law Review. Stuart is co-author with KC Johnson of the new book, The Campus Rape Frenzy: The Attack on Due Process at America's Universities. As written at the book page at Amazon: This book uses hard facts to set the record straight. It explores, among other things, about two dozen of the many cases since 2010 in which innocent or probably innocent students have been branded as sex criminals and expelled or otherwise punished by their colleges. And it shows why all students—and, eventually, society as a whole—are harmed when our nation's universities abandon pursuit of truth and seek instead to accommodate the passions of the mob. Listen as Stuart Taylor and I have a conversation about the proliferation of college rape accusations and cases -- many of which seem to lack all credulity. ******************* In the second 1/2 hour I will be joined by Jeff Crouere.
