Justifying sin is a basic definition of wicked and evil. God calls for us to be infants in the things that are evil and wise in the things that are good. What does that mean? False teaching based around justifying our pride was even referred to as the “doctrine of demons”. We looked at Romans 16:19 and 1 Corinthians 14:20.

Today we read out of Jeremiah 13:1-11, and how God uses His discipline as an ultimate source of rest and restoration. The yoke of “self” will always be heavier than the yoke of “death to self” (Christ), which is a truth that life has always proven. Open your Bibles and follow along.

Today we talked about the story of Uzzah in 2 Samuel 6 and what seems to be an unfair moment when God strikes him down for touching the ark as it is about to fall to the ground. But was it unfair? Uzzah's heart may have been in the right place, but reverence was absent from those who should have known better (King David). God is specific with how we are to worship Him, and it is not based around emotions or feelings. Open your Bibles and follow along.

Today we talked about Christian's and complaining. How much we complain shows where we truly stand in our hope in Christ. We used the story of Daniel as an example, but bounced around to numerous texts that talk about our hope in Christ and how hope fuels our faith. Today we talked about the necessity of repentance to truly be saved. We also discussed how true repentance looks in the life of the believer when we first come to the Lord and also as a discipline throughout our walk with. Christ. Today Deacon Brent gave a message on knowing your adversary the devil and how to defend yourselves against him and fight back against his schemes and ways.

Today was a longer sermon. We covered the entirety of the second chapter of 2 Peter, talking about the severity of false teachers in the church and even how to spot them. The recording cut out a little early, but we mentioned in the end the importance of evaluating the fruit of teachers and preachers as much possible. Ask questions about their lives to those who know them even. If they unaccessible or closed off, that is a concern. I pray this message is fruitful, edifying and challenging.

Today we finished out the first chapter of 2 Peter, giving a brief recap of last week's sermon and talking more about some promises that come with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Today we worked our way into the Book of 2 Peter, making some stops in Colossians 1 and 3, talking about the dangers of false teaching that is based on secret knowledge and “hyper grace”. Understanding the exclusivity of the Gospel message opens the doors for a connection that all people are capable of being saved through it, because all are guilty. This is where you find God's grace.

We talked about how Jesus was masterful at exposing our motives through His words and teachings.

Today we talked about what it means to be made in the image of God. We also went to an often misunderstood saying from Christ to the Pharisees regarding payment or “tribute” to Caesar and “giving to Caesar what is Caesar's and what is God's to God”. Take a listen! In Matthew 5 Jesus says we must have a “righteousness that exceeds that of the Pharisees” to be enter His Kingdom. Jesus is speaking about our hearts, and not merely outward showing. We can get good having our cups clean on the outside while wasting away with sin in the inside.

Brent, Jeremy and Brandon have a discussion on sin, and what it is and even what it is now.

Today we talked about sanctification, and how God does not mess around with the process of renewing us and making us more and more like His Son. There is a call to self denial and submission completely, because He desires to sanctify us completely.

Today we talked about God's mercy. Jonah actually refers to God's mercy as “evil” in Hebrew due to the mercy He showed Israel's enemies. The Book of Jonah forces us all to face the hypocrisy we have when it comes to God's mercy, and how we can play judge in place of God.

Pastor's wife Julaine gave a little message before the sermon, sharing her heart and struggles in ministry, and that God is always working with us while working on us.
