The long wait is over; the new 50Express kitchen set is ready for action. This week Katherine Sotelo owner of @DippedbySathy joins Manny and co-host for the evening, Ariel Vice, for the Bakers in the Kitchen Drinking Coffee Season 4 inaugural episode. Join us and find out how Katherine went from a "S.A.H.M." (we learned this means stay at home mom) to a business owner right before the pandemic hit. Katherine discusses how hard it was to take on new clients without meeting them face to face and how she used the downtime during the pandemic to hone her craft. At the moment Katherine specializes in treat making, specifically chocolate covered strawberries and caramel apples, however she hopes to expand her menu and plans on taking baking classes in order to do so. Erika started baking at a young age, but put her passion on hold to attend nursing school. Noticing that she wasn't happy, her mom urged her to quit nursing school and pursue baking as a career and Erika did just that. Erika started off by doing cakes for family and friends before finally selling her first cake about a year later. Erika talks about all the different trends in the baking world and how it is fun to try them, but that you should also pick a specialty and hone your craft because trends come and go.
