Max Homa, that guy from twitter who just happens to be a PGA Tour Pro, became a repeat winner at the Wells Fargo Championship, where sleeping with the lead didn't work out well for the guys. Hosts Alex Lauzon and Michael Russell look at the now 4-time champ Homa, and how some of the other pros fared at TPC Potomac (1:36). Overheard during the week was Sergio Garcia, getting very upset about his apparent remaining time on the PGA Tour, perhaps before bolting to the LIV Tour (5:47). With a week to go before the PGA Championship, 7 of the World's top 15 are in the field for the AT&T Byron Nelson, making for a fun weekend in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex (8:52). In Tuned In, Michael is, arguably, being a bad husband as he watches his wife paint the house, while Alex is still fuming at the Spring Baking Championship as the season comes to a close (10:50). This week's guest is Pat Monahan, the lead singer of the multi-GRAMMY and Billboard Award-winning band Train. Pat chats with Alex about Train's music and new album, AM Gold (out May 20), how golf influenced one of his songs, and shares stories from playing in the AT&T Pro-Am at Pebble Beach and forging friendships with PGA Tour champions like Jason Day (13:48). Alex shares his pessimistic views on the Celtics chances against the defending champion Bucks in the NBA Playoffs, but Michael holds out hope (40:25). As Alex and Michael #AlwaysEndWithFood, Alex heads to the midwest staple Culver's, while Michael dives head first into baking in a more permanent setting (41:17). What the everloving CLUCK?!? Spring Baking Championship caps off a doozy of a season with a sprinkle-covered nightmare of their own making! After our beloved contestants pour their hearts out in a tearjerker of a pre-heat, the show continues with the psychological torture springing a tone-deaf head-to-head, sudden death bake off on them, causing one of our beloved bakers to call it quits. WHEW. Has this show officially jumped the shark? Are they actually conducting a psychological experiment? On a lighter note, how badly do we all want to taste Jaleesa's outrageous chocolate cake? Tune in as we celebrate these bakers one more time and slowly lose our minds as the spring chaos has one last crack at us all!
All aboard! It's wine-o'clock, and Spring Baking Championship is celebrating with a booze cruise of an episode! How do you incorporate cheddar and wine into a cake? Could cocktails convince the judges to like cupcakes? Will Dennis EVER be granted an advantage? Grab your life preservers because this episode is a wild penultimate ride…
It was a week with alligators and a golf clinic as Xander Shauffele and Patrick Cantlay roll to victory at the Zurich Classic. Co-host Alex Lauzon celebrates his victory, while Michael wonders why we can't have a joint PGA/LPGA team event (1:36). The LPGA put on a show in Hollywood as Nasa Hataoka wins at Wilshire Country Club by five strokes (5:29). The Champions Tour is sometimes a place for players to have a second life as a golfer, and Scott Parel is doing just that as he notched his fourth career victory at the ClubCorp Classic (6:59). Names are finally coming out for the LIV Classic, and so far, they aren't that much to be excited about (8:29). The PGA Tour heads to a new tournament this weekend in Mexico, and Alex isn't about to make this field look better than it is (11:08). In Tuned In, Michael is getting his relaxing and supportive vibes from the pottery cousin of Great British Bake Off, while Alex is awfully upset with the Food Network's latest decision on Spring Baking Championship (13:11). This week's featured guest is yet another Holey Moley contestant, Gerard Dyson, aka Sgt. Swag. Gerard talks about his time on the mini golf course, his time in the military and playing golf, and enjoying watching the pros play in Atlanta (17:04). The basketball playoffs are in full swing, and Alex and Michael are on the Celtic bandwagon (38:01)! This weekend in the NFL Draft, so resident football expert Cole Thompson joins Alex for our annual draft preview (39:16). As we #AlwaysEndWithFood, Alex is enjoying a coconut donut while Michael is baking up more delicious babka flavors (58:48).
Just when you think the Spring chaos may have reached its peak, the team at SBC whips up yet another jumbo cookie salad sized surprise with the return of Carolyn! In this episode, our beloved bakers take on an Easter Bunny-sponsored preheat featuring candy themed Pâte à Choux, before teaming up to put the "CUTE" in charcuterie with main heat farm animal-inspired dessert boards. What could be BAAAAAAAH-D?
Pinkies up Bakers of the World, cause we're taking a trip to Scone Country! Spring Baking Championship asks our bakers to start the day off right with carbs and butter in a pre-heat featuring the Best Biscuit Nancy Has Ever Had... Then it's off to art school... on the farm? Bakers must whip up painterly cakes featuring scenes from Molly's farm using only a palette knife. Two floating tractors, one tomato fiasco and a Nice Looking Chicken later, and we are one week closer to the finale and crowning our Spring Baking Champion!
Bakers of the world, grab a cup of milk cause this one's SPICY. Spring Baking Championship takes us out to the ballgame…to distract us from a main heat that's so Basic™ y'all burned Twitter to a crisp with hot takes. We're here for it (and you), with our own salty rage feelings, flying burritos, and other trash bag desserts for the ages. Join us in this dumpster, as we light a fire fueled entirely by cookie salad.
Better late than never! The spring chaos continues as our intrepid bakers tackle Cherry Blossom Season, and your Fantasy Baking Championship hosts fight an ill-timed lawnmower in this festive and floral episode! Cherry blossoms two ways! A schmear of Kindness! The return of the advantage to the pre-heat winner AND the twist! It's enough to make the bakers (and us) a little misty...
Bakers of the world, we are four episodes in to this season of Spring Baking Championship and the chaos we have come to expect from Spring is being delivered by the basket! A pre-heat that asks our beloved bakers to turn an upside-down cake on its head - wouldn't that be a regular cake? A main heat modern take on a traditional pie - a.k.a. "Jen's Dream Heat"? A pre-heat winner who gets no advantage in the main heat, despite crushing the challenge AND giving us all the feels while doing it?! And, WHAT IS HAPPENING WITH THE MAIN HEAT TWISTS?!?! Grab a slice, embrace the chaos and let's get into it!
Hang on to your tea cart because this one's a wild ride! And we don't mean the Spring Baking episode - that one is perfectly civilized and spectacular and features an edible porcelain pineapple teapot that's so exquisite it makes us want to throw things- no, we're talking about THIS episode of FBC. Long time listeners, you're no stranger to our weird back-road car trip detours, but this one really takes the tea cake. We don't know what happened, but if you're here SPECIFICALLY to hear us fawn over cookies the size of a steering wheel and outrageous edible tea cups, you have our full permission to fast forward at will. Otherwise, sit down, tighten your seatbelts and keep your arms and legs inside the teacup at all times because this episode is DEFINITELY a Mad Hatter affair!
Laissez les bons temps rouler! Host Molly Yeh admits she's butchering Cajun French but letting the good times roll right into the kitchen as the bakers head down to the big easy for some Mardi Gras madness. Our bakers put the fat in Fat Tuesday with King cake inspired treats followed by a boozy parade float cake fit to carry a krewe of Beignets right into our judges' mouths. Is a beignet just a square donut? How much cinnamon is too much cinnamon? Why is there a plastic baby in my cake?? Join us for these questions and more as we welcome a new surprise baker (hello Stephon!) and crown (or rather, ribbon?) this year's Mardi Gras King baker!
And we're back! The groundhog saw his shadow this year, but no one tell Food Network because spring has sprung in the kitchen, and we are HERE FOR IT. Spring Baking Championship welcomes a new host (Hi, Molly!) and twelve new bakers to the kitchen, challenging them to present a fruity self-portrait tart (how? what? here comes the spring chaos!), and following up with a floral bonanza cake that ain't yo mama's Publix bakery birthday cake, no sir. There'll be critters! And ribbons! And enough flowers to make you almost believe it's spring! Put on your stretchy pants and join us as we break down our favorite dishes and begin our spring fling with these delightful culinary craftspeople!
The ground is beginning to thaw, the birds are beginning to chirp and flowers are beginning to bloom which can only mean one thing, it's time for Spring Baking Championship!! Chris, Jen and J.T. assemble at the big board to draft and set the teams. Who will take the first victory of 2022? Only fate knows but, right now, it's anyone's game!! Let's Do This!! NOTE: This episode was recorded LIVE on our Facebook page and, as such, our audio isn't QUITE up to our usual standards. We'll be back in form for our regular episodes this Friday!

Today on the show, we have Keya Wingfield.Keya describes herself as a Richmonder. Chef. Entrepreneur. Instructor. Mom. This is Keya Wingfield. The culinary education is from Virginia, but the love and passion come from Bombay, where she was born and raised. But this isn't "Indian Food." It's food by an Indian. Like Keya, it's complex, diverse...and definitely bold. Most people know her as the winner of the recent Food Network's Spring Baking Championship in Season 7. However, most people don't know that Keya and her family were experiencing a tragic loss while the episodes of the Spring Baking Champion were airing.Trigger warning: Please be prepared as there will be some discussion that may trigger some folks.Keya shared the maternal birth traumatic experience she had with her son Daksh, presenting post-traumatic disorder symptoms or even post-partum post-traumatic disorder. Having a c-section, her newborn being admitted to the NICU for 8 weeks, daily visits to the hospital with the fresh c-section wounds, inability to hold him, and the emotional exhaustion to deal with the stress if your baby will make it? These are all experiences that can trigger PTSD symptoms in mothers. If you or your loved one is experiencing any of the symptoms discussed today, I urge you to seek professional help. I have included articles in the website show notes that you can learn more about maternal PTSD and how to find a trained PTSD or trauma counselor. As we wrap up May Mental health awareness month, I want to remind you to take care of yourself. I understand your pain. You do not have to suffer in silence. Avoiding or numbing your pain is not the solution. You will experience the impact of undealt trauma in your life at some point. It is best to lift your chin up, acknowledge the pain, process the grief, seek professional help and work on yourself now. Your life is way too important to live in survival mode. You deserve to be thriving and live your best life now.Thank you so much for joining me this week on The Wholy Mom Chat! Please share this episode with all the women you know. It was a total blast to interview Ali, and though you’ll find no spoilers ahead, you WILL learn so much about our current Host with the Most and get a peek behind the scenes to hear just how challenging it is to shoot a baking show during a pandemic. Hint: It’s WAY challenging. Join us for the entremets, stay for the bug tacos, and find yourself enchanted by the fascinating Mr. Khan! Follow Ali on Twitter and Instagram @alikhaneats! More About Ali: Ali Khan is a television host and multi-hyphenate creative in the food and comedy space. Show. Us. Your. CAAAAAAKES!!! The bakers are baring it all this Spring Break, as SBC gets wild and worldly with international destination-inspired snacks, and edible vistas that had us trying to remember what it was like to leave our houses. Brush up on your diorama lingo and secure all loose articles because the Spring Baking Championship's Penultimate episode is leaving the station, and that first drop is a dooooozy!
S'mores, anyone? Our bakers answer the Spring Baking Championship's bizarre spring camping invitation with a resounding meh, as they're challenged to consider such things as "how DOES one cook a kiwi in a skillet?" and "what kind of psychopath brings passion fruit on a camping trip?" and "CAN you just add the word Spring to the front of anything and make it a March - May activity"? There's something for everyone in this episode, as "indoor people" are treated to a crafting challenge guaranteed to stitch up at least one of our beloved bakers. Who has to take the long canoe ride home from Camp SBC? Let's find out...
Tonight on Bakers in the Kitchen Drinking Coffee we have Mandy & Stephanie who are the owners of Whisk’d Away, a custom dessert catering company in Downey, CA. They tell us all about how becoming co workers at a pie shop turned into catering desserts for a family party, and ultimately lead them to partnering up to create Whisk’d Away. Mandy and Stephanie are two peas in pod! They are currently working in a commercial kitchen and hope to one day open a brick and mortar store. They are featured on the Food Network on the Spring Baking Championship. We had a great time chatting with them about how it is to own a business with a partner!
Calling all ye Cookie Monsters (and golfers?), gather round! This week’s episode of Spring Baking Championship featured maximum NomNomNom as our bakers were asked to reimagine cookies of all stripes, and we were asked to reimagine ever fitting back into our pants. We learned that golfing is not 100% a trash sport (ice cream sandwich cookies are its staple snack??), stone fruits - in season May through October - are a “spring flavor”, and there is at least one cookie that will through each of your Fantasy Baking Championship hosts into a rage. Join us for the controversy, stay for the snickerdoodles!
Spring has official SPRUNG and you know what that means, SEASONAL ALLERGIES!! The bakers flex their flower power in their most fragrant challenge to date that found our beloved judges hard pressed to send anyone packing! Grab a Claritin and join us on a Springtime morning stroll through floral cake groves and fields of pizza frittes!
First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes TOWERS AND TOWERS OF BAKED GOODS because Spring Baking Championship has got Baby Fever, and they're throwing a shower to be remembered! In this episode, we answer all of the most essential baby-themed baking competition show-related questions: Should coffee be on every parent's registry? (Yes!) Did Natalie just start the next baking trend with her functional cookie rattle? (Also Yes!) Is a Baby Sharknado only cute to people without kids? (3x Yes!). Join us as we try to remove the image of those creepy baby dolls from our minds and edge one step closer to crowning this season's champ!
Love is in the air (albeit a month after Valentine's Day), and our bakers are paired up for this season's first team challenge! With a pre-heat that had us all saying "Yes" and a main heat that proved love truly is blind, this episode reminded us just how much we love this group of bakers and just how tight this competition is right now! What is "desert chic"? Is "Tropulence" really a thing? And, just how much does Jen love Mandy Patinkin? Swipe right and let's get into it!
Real talk: have you ever had a hot-crossed bun(ny)? None of us have, but based on the judges' reactions, we should all get us some buns STAT. Was it the irresistible charm of both adorable AND edible woodland creatures? Was it the surprising flavors and textures? Or was it just that bread, in ALL of its forms, is glorious? Join us as we ponder the answers to these burning questions, explore other normal foods we've inexplicably never had, and laugh heartily at Kim's expense as she's forced to make a French exit.
This week on Food Network Obsessed, host Jaymee Sire plays a game of Would You Rather and dives into a conversation with host, food writer, blogger and influencer Ali Khan. Leprechauns aren’t the only thing to be found at the end of the rainbow! This week, our bakers are challenged to whip up tasty treats as delightful as a pot of gold. Couple that with colors and joy of the festival of Holi and you’ve got a ROYGBIV BONANZA on your hands (and in your mouth)! Tune in for the colorful commentary and stay for the J.T. schadenfreude!
Donuts for DAYS!! Season Seven of Spring Baking Championship kicks us off with a delectable assortment of sweets, and we don't just mean baked goods... have you SEEN these bakers? Adorable. Even more adorable? A dancing cow cake challenge that had all the right mooooooves. There were laughs, there were tears, there were (unexpected) stripper poles...all of which have sent J.T. on a quest to make a cake that doesn't taste like a mattress pad. Join us as we dance our way into a new season that finds our love for all of these bakers already in full bloom!
The groundhog MAY have seen his shadow on February 2nd, but Food Network is not having ANY of this "six more weeks of winter" stuff. We're gearing up for tonight's premiere of Spring Baking Championship and you know what that means, it's time for THE DRAFT!! NOTE: This episode was recorded LIVE on our Facebook page and we had some technical issues with Chris & Jen's audio feed so, as a result, they sound a bit muffled. Apologies in advance for this not being up to our usual FBC standards! Never fear, though, we've got it rectified for the future!
Bakers of the world, happy (almost) Spring, y'all! To celebrate the return of our favorite confectionary Masterpiece Theater, we're excited to bring you this very special BONUS episode featuring our interview with Spring Baking Championship Season Six Winner, Sohrob Esmaili! We recorded this interview back in September but, with all of our days still feeling pretty much exactly the same, today could be any day you want it to be. Regardless of what day it is where you are, we can guarantee this interview will brighten it. Be sure to follow Sohrob on Instagram @mistersohrob! And join us for our draft LIVE THIS SUNDAY (Feb. 21) on Facebook @fantasybakingchampionship as we prepare for the Season Seven premiere of Spring Baking Championship!
It was a crazy weekend at Pebble Beach, as past guest Nate Lashley tip-toed around the lead, and hot-handed Jordan Spieth held the lead for awhile, until Alex's pick Daniel Berger closed it out to win at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro [Am] (1:41). The PGA of America announced that range finders will be allowed at the PGA Championship, and Alex and Michael are a little wary of this idea (8:59). Plus the Monday Qualifiers return to full force as the Korn Ferry Tour season gets started (11:39). The PGA Tour heads to the Genesis Invitational, and past guest Willie Mack III is in the field (12:30). The guys share some of their early favorites, and keep an eye on the Twitter accounts for Alex and Michael for their full cards on Wednesday (13:24). In Tuned In, Alex watched the now infamous Brittney Spears documentary, and isn't that impressed (15:44). Meanwhile, Michael is listening to the new Haley Williams solo album, "Petals for Armor." Food Network's Spring Baking Championship is starting up again on February 22 at 9PM ET, and host Ali Khan rejoins Alex to talk about life during Covid and everything else (19:41). As the NFL season is now officially over, attention turns to college basketball and March Madness being right around the corner (56:24). Valentine's Day was Sunday, and as Alex and Michael #AlwaysEndWithFood, they share what they made for their significant others, and Michael gives some steak cooking tips (58:48). It's Graduation Day for these bakers (and for us!) as Spring Baking Championship challenges us all to remember what it was like to gather together in person for some pomp, circumstance, and dessert. Then we rewind time further, as the bakers' final challenge asks them to use vintage 50's, 60's, and 80's prom dates to inspire a $25,000 victory cake. Who will be this class's Prom King/Queen? When will we ever get to wear formalwear again? Why is Kim constantly humble-bragging? The answers to these burning questions AND MORE await you in this, our Fantasy Baking Championship Season 1 FINALE!
This week, it was Mother's Day on Spring Baking Championship and (evidently) that means we're gettin' boozy with a poolside Margarita theme bound to transport you from your living room to an imaginary land where we can all be outside and tipsy together in the sun. ...Just us? Join us as we splash about in a sea of emotions and sweet desserts as one baker floats to the top, and three of them bake (drink?) their way to glory, otherwise known as A SPOT IN THE FINALE!!!
What's the difference between a crisp and a crumble? Who exactly is this Betty? Was the first cobbler actually made of shoes? Join us for these questions and more as we channel our inner VSCO girls, don a flower crown and buckle up for some cranky judges and Spring baking goodness!
Like everyone else, Spring Baking Championship is cleaning out its closets this week "Marie Kondo"-ing their way through minimalist desserts and a main heat inspired by your grandma's yard sale! Break out your cross-stitch pattern and your fanciest doilies as we get one delicious episode closer to the Spring Baking finale!
Who said you can't tour the world this spring? Well, the CDC. BUT THAT DIDN'T STOP THE TROLLS - and not the internet kind - those brightly colored weirdos from the upcoming film Trolls World Tour invade this week's Spring Baking Championship, bringing with them impossibly adorable miniature desserts, and cake for dayyyys. We. Are. Here for it. Embrace the weird and join us as we go googly-eyed over this week's desserts and take a stroll down memory lane to revisit our own favorite childhood cartoon/dessert pairings. (Hint: Chris's rhymes with Shmevil Shmogs).
Anyone up for a socially distant bike ride through the country side? Our bakers sure are! It’s team challenge week on Spring Baking Championship, but only one baker will make it to the summit! Join us for a jelly vs. jam throwdown, a namelaka and all you can eat GORP as we step into the great outdoors (through the window...of our living rooms)!
Dogs and cats, living together... MASS HYSTERIA!! We don't know how Food Network knew that we would all need maximum kitties & puppies right now, but they delivered in one of the most bizarre episodes we've ever covered on this podcast. Is it possible to make an eclair look like a cat? Do poodles kayak? And what exactly does moew-malade taste like? Join us as we bat these questions around and attack this week's challenges like a favorite chew toy.
Question: How does a Spring night sky differ from a Summer night sky? We don't know either, but this week's episode of Spring Baking Championship finds our bakers struggling to answer that very question... Who will fly too close to the sun? Is astronaut ice cream an unspeakable abomination? How many donuts can Chris fit in his mouth? Come with us, gentle listeners, as we ponder these questions AND THE VERY COSMOS in this astronomical edition of FBC.
Spring has SPRUUUUUUUNG!!! (Did you picture Nancy in your head as you read that?) Episode 1 of Spring Baking Championship came in like a lion with our eleven new bakers showcasing their design skills with geometric tarts and a 3-HOUR FAULT CAKE! We get to know our bakers, make copious apologies for, ahem, BUTCHERING their names, and we wax philosophical about... Bear Butts. Break out your "marshmallow chicks" and hazmat suit, and join us for the beginning of one baker's pastel ride to glory!
The birds are beginning to chirp, the flowers are beginning to bloom and the seasonal aisle at CVS has turned to a familiar shade of pastel. You know what that means...we're gearing up for a brand new season of Food Network's Spring Baking Championship! Kim is looking to repeat, Chris is looking to regain and Jen & J.T. are looking to grab their first taste of championship glory, but it all begins with baker selections from the draft board. So, let's crack open a Cadbury egg and let the games begin!!

After competing on Cutthroat Kitchen, The Spring Baking Championship, and winning Best Baker in America, Dwayne Ingraham dishes out the inside scoop on how chefs can position themselves to get casted, standout, and win on competitive cooking shows. Along with his to-the-point, actionable advice, Dwayne shares about his experience on each show, giving listeners a glimpse behind the scenes at the chaos and excitement that comes with food competitions. Plus, Dwayne dispenses wisdom drawn from experience about how you can progress in your culinary career when your role isn't as visible as an executive chef (pastry chefs out there...does this resonate?), and how farmers and producers can start selling more by connecting with pastry chefs directly. Have you visited Bobby Flay’s restaurants because you saw him on food network? I met Christa on Twitter who traveled to meet Nacho – does he really need a last name? (It's Nacho Aguirre) who won the Spring Baking Championship this season. So she noticed that his bakery, Delice Chocolatier, was a couple of hours away from her house and decided to go visit. I not only have her on the show, but I have the champ himself, Nacho! Enjoy! Let’s give a shout out to this week’s Reel Travels sponsor – Greg Antonelle and his company MickeyTravels LLC.
