We are already coming to the end of March of 2023. If you have followed along with us, you should be somewhere with your goals and learning in the year so far because a quarter of it is almost gone. But life can be unpredictable, and stuff happens even as we pursue our goals. This doesn't mean we stop pursuing them but try to get back on track as soon as possible. In this episode, Eddie and I share some of the things that have happened and the lessons we have taken this year. We've talked about the first lesson numerous times in this episode, but pushing ourselves into uncomfortable situations is very important. That's where growth happens. The path to success requires us to step outside of our comfort zones and push ourselves to new limits. Whether starting a new business, pursuing a new hobby, or even making new friends, we've found that the most rewarding experiences come from taking risks and embracing the unknown. This is just one of the lessons we share in this episode; we have many more, including the books we are currently reading!Tune in Key Takeaways- What in the world (03:05)- The uncomfortable way is the right way (10:18)- What we are currently reading (16:41)- The 3 trimesters of life (26:20)- Good healthy habits for 2023 (28:57)- The drift of neglect (37:42)- What arc of your story are you in (48:29)Additional Resources:- If you're looking to GROW YOUR BUSINESS and increase your sales, you should definitely consider joining our 8-week Masterclass, PASSION TO PROFIT. Have you ever misinterpreted what someone said? We all have. Miscommunication can be complex and lead to all sorts of trouble, and what we SAY isn't always what someone HEARS.Understanding how this works and why it happens can be useful in both personal and professional relationships. In this episode, Eddie and I explored why what we SAY and what someone HEARS can be profoundly different.A core reason for this is that we frame any communication from our own perspective, distorting the original message to fit within a certain context. We also discuss why it's so important to recognize that our own perception is not necessarily the same as the other person's.Communication lies at the heart of every relationship. Whether it's with our friends, family, colleagues, or strangers, we need to be aware of how our words are received. We need to be mindful of the contexts we communicate and be open to different interpretations.Only then can we truly build meaningful and lasting connections with those around us? Tune in to this episode for more on this and some interesting stories!Key Takeaways- Why words are often misconstrued (12:50)- Everything is on the table for comedians (20:45)- Why comedians make the world a better place (26:39)- A widespread epidemic of insecurities (31:11)- The trauma economy is well and alive (35:48)- Perception is important (37:58)Additional Resources:- If you're looking to GROW YOUR BUSINESS and increase your sales, you should definitely consider joining our 8-week Masterclass, PASSION TO PROFIT. As we grow older, it's natural to reflect on the past and reminisce about the good old days. Nostalgia is a powerful emotion that can evoke fond memories and feelings of happiness and comfort. It's no wonder that we tend to look back on our youth with rose-colored glasses and idealize the past. However, there's a fine line between cherishing memories and romanticizing the past to the point of losing touch with reality. As we age, we may feel a sense of loss or fear of the unknown. We may also worry about losing our relevance and connection to the world, especially as technology and culture change rapidly. But romanticizing your hay days can lead to stagnation and the inability to grow and learn new things. It can lead to limiting beliefs and missed opportunities, as it may prevent us from taking risks and trying new things. It can also create a disconnect with reality and the present moment, making it harder to enjoy life as it is.In this episode, Eddie and I share some practical tips and advice on how to stay young in spirit and enjoy life to the fullest.Tune in!Key Takeaways- Are you romanticizing your hay days (17:35)- Keep yourself relevant (21:57)- Continuously learn and educate yourself to stay up to date (27:11)- Build and maintain positive relations with people of all ages (30:47)- Embrace change and be open to new experiences (32:44)- Pursue interests and passions as you age (35:51)- Be willing to take calculated risks and learn from failures (41:37) - Avoid being complacent and always strive for growth (50:23)- Develop a positive attitude and a sense of humor (54:29)- Find your purpose (54:46)- Build long-term wealth (55:04)Additional Resources:- Robert Kiyosaki's Book: Retire Young, Retire Rich - If you're looking to GROW YOUR BUSINESS and increase your sales, you should definitely consider joining our 8-week Masterclass, PASSION TO PROFIT. Our job as parents is to create functional adults that other humans want to be around. If your kids are annoying to you, there's a good chance they are annoying AF to other people. If they have crying fits with you every time something doesn't go their way, there's a chance this is how they will behave with other people when they are older. It is our responsibility to recognize these patterns and correct them to ensure we are equipping our kids with the skills to handle life.Your kids will undoubtedly face adversities, disappointments, objections, rejections, and other unpleasant situations. But as adults, we know these are important for growth, and we shouldn't, therefore, be shielding them from them. Is it ever okay to lie to someone? This is the conversation we are having in today's episode. We are joined by my dad, who will, out of nowhere, bring attention to someone's insecurity and lie to them that they look great. In his defense, he says it's not a lie but a way to uplift someone and make their day. Lying is when you intentionally try to deceive someone from the truth. But is a little white lie here and there to uplift someone and make them feel good acceptable? This episode is about expectations that get you in trouble. Probably as much as 99% of the stuff you are angry about in life is your problem because you have wrong expectations. There are some things we generally consider disappointing:- when people are unkind- when people take advantage of others (especially those who are less able)- when people tear down the success of others- when people think that they're owed something- when your kids or spouse make a bad choice that impacts your familyBut today, we're talking about the disappointments we face due to a lack of sharing our expectations and communicating them. Especially when it comes to relationships, partnerships, friendships… Because just because you expected something or someone to be/behave in a certain way doesn't make it OK for you to be super disappointed if they are not. So, do you have invisible expectations? Are your expectations too high? We hope this episode will motivate you to check your expectations in any sphere of your life - yourself, your marriage, your job, your loved ones... Maybe it's time to change some of the things you expect. Or it's time for some tough conversations and redefining relationships with some people. Or you should go look and explore other employment opportunities. Also, if you're taking things for granted (like expecting that no one you love will die or that you won't catch a severe illness), maybe it's time to slow down and be grateful. It will also help you avoid falling into the trap of victimhood when some devastating and disappointing things happen. There are so many reasons to tune in for this episode.Let's dive in right now!Key Takeaways- Intro (00:00)- Where would Martin Luther King be without Caretta? What are you focusing on right now?In a world full of distractions, it's easy to find ourselves not paying attention to what we really want in life.As the common saying goes; Where your focus flows, your energy flows. And life is all about energy…To help us understand all about this and more, we are joined by Eric John Campbell. He is a Tik Tok star and is releasing his book soon. Eric teaches people about the power of attention, and that's the idea behind his upcoming book. We've officially reached 100 episodes of the PUSH podcast…Yay
In this episode, we catch up with Speaker, Author, Coach, Ex NFL Player Anthony Trucks about pivoting through the pandemic and stepping into the next level of success. We touch on developing confidence through action, the fear of leveraging your network when launching something (like a book or a new business), and growing through different seasons with a partner or spouse.Just as the pandemic was starting, we welcomed Anthony on the PUSH podcast to talk about making Shift Happen in our lives to achieve happiness, success, freedom, and fulfillment. You'll have to acquire a new identity regardless of how successful you were before. Successful people navigate through this discomfort, self-doubt, and insecurity to structure a new identity for themselves. This then allows you to be confident in yourself as you know you've put in the work. You are no longer apprehensive about this new space you are in.Join us in this conversation as we talk about identity shift and how to develop confidence through action. Also, head over to Janellecopeland.com for details on how you can get an autographed copy of Anthony's new book and a free workbook worth $100!Key Takeaways- What in the world - The interwebs of craziness (02:41)- Developing confidence through action (15:27)- Leveraging your network to launch something new (21:14)- How to navigate through discomfort to acquire a new identity (24:57)- Do the work in the dark, so that you can shine in the light (29:16)- Why you need Pinky finger strength in your life (34:09)- Shaking off old identities to create room for new ones (35:36)- Growing through different seasons with your spouse (39:59)Additional Resources:Anthony's IGAnthony's Website Get Anthony's New Identity Shift Book-------Janelle's websiteJoin the Cake Cents FB GroupJoin the Push Podcast FB GroupThe Push Podcast's official websiteThe Pusher SocietyCake Mamas InstagramEddie's Instagram
