On Mother's Day its good to give thanks for our mothers & all they do for us. We must also remember those whose mothers are no longer with us, or who are infirmed, or distant. In the Bible there are 7 special Mothers who gave birth to 7 children of promise - all sons. They were greatly blessed by God because of their children. Yet also there was a price to pay - all suffered in different ways because of their children. These women came to know the truth of the words - He gives, he takes away, blessed be the name of the Lord.

After the suffering of v1-21 David turns to the Covenant God who fully vindicates him. From a feeling of abandonment David finds a voice of praise. He leads us in a song of praise, faith and gratitude in which he calls the whole world to worship God.
In his early reign David experienced a time of mental and physical attack. He spoke words which Jesus would utter from the Cross. As we read these words we see that they reached their fulfilment at the Cross of Christ.

Simon reminds us that we are saved because of the gospel. This is because of the grace of God. The gospel message includes 2 important facts, the fact Jesus Christ died and the fact Jesus Christ was resurrected. The gospel of Jesus Christ is the good news, that is available to all. This is the best news that anyone can hear, it is what the people who hear this news determines where they spend eternity.
