Santos blends science fiction and fantasy with vibrant color and dynamic texture, using his work to explore vulnerability, healing, and lived experience through a lens shaped by being biracial—Black and Mexican. In our conversation, Santos talks about using art to translate personal and societal trauma into visual stories, and how making the work can be a way to express what's hard to say out loud. He reflects on a deeply personal solo show shaped by difficult experiences at home and how those experiences can linger, influencing identity and self-perception. We also discuss his upcoming mini solo show at Gallery Ergo in Seattle, where he's focusing on death and grief after years of family loss—and how cultural context shapes the way he approaches that theme.Catch Santos's previous episode here.Follow Santos on Instagram at @santosart and follow the gallery at @gallery.ergo for updates on the March 13 opening. As a first, I have an extended version of this conversation if you want to check it out: The Truth In This Art is supported by William G. In this episode, I'm joined by Dr. Brian Shelton to discuss his new book Theology of a Diary, a theological exploration of the real events behind The Exorcist. Brian unpacks the spiritual, historical, and doctrinal context surrounding the case that inspired the film. We talk about how the church has understood demonic activity, spiritual authority, and pastoral discernment in moments of spiritual conflict. The Shelton brothers rose from Wayne County farm boys to run one of the most powerful criminal empires in Illinois history — defying the Chicago Outfit, surviving ambushes, and collecting enemies until the bullets finally caught up with them, though the killers were never found, and at least one of the brothers apparently never left the bar where he died.*No AI Voices Are Used In The Narration Of This Podcast*IN THIS EPISODE: On July 26, 1948, infamous Illinois gangster Bernie Shelton – by then acting leader of the Shelton Brothers gang – was shot to death at the Parkway Tavern, a roadhouse that he owned outside of Peoria.

Our guest this week is another true industry powerhouse with over 30 years of experience. He got schooled in business of retail at one of the most Iconic and Core Shops around “Surfside Sports” under the leadership and guidance from Professor “Duke Edukas”. He went on to spending nearly half his career at Quiksilver, as he climbed the ranks from wetsuit sales rep, to in-house sales and managing the customer service department, to Director of Sales for wetsuits and accessories, and ultimately to VP of Sales. After leaving Quiksilver in 2013, he joined rival brand Billabong as VP of Sales, where he spent the next nine years continuing to strengthen wholesale/retail relationships. In an ironic twist, Quiksilver and Billabong eventually came together under the Boardriders umbrella, giving him a unique and highly effective perspective, having helped lead both brands. During that time, he further expanded his role, adding VP of Latin America and ECommerce to his already impressive portfolio. We're stoked to hear about his journey from warehouse grom to VP for 2 of the biggest surf brands and his current role as General Manager at Salty Crew. Please welcome to the show, Mr. Jason “SHELTY” Shelton.
Sunday Service // Pastor Rick Shelton
