MEALS WITH JESUS | Simon's Show - Blair Bushnell by St Andrew's Clubmoor
When Simon the Pharisee questions Jesus, Jesus tells a parable of debts and then forgives the sinful woman. We need to remind ourselves regularly of who Jesus is and respond accordingly. Speaker: Jerrod Rumley
Simon looks at Hebrew's chapter 12 and how to run the race of the Christian faith, advising us it is a marathon not a sprint. He does this by looking at three tips from chapter 12: Listen, to those which have witnessed in the Bible and those in our own lives showcasing there faith Lay Aside, the sin which hinders us by weighing us down Looking to Jesus, and putting our trust in him like how children put their trust in the lollipop men and women. Are you looking to Jesus while running your race?

Encountering the Resurrected Jesus: Simon Peter, Do you love me? - Rev. Donnell T. Wyche - a2vc.org. Like us on fb.com/vineyardannarbor or watch our livestream Sundays @ 10:45am - vimeo.com/annarborvineyard Summary: In this sermon, Rev. Donnell Wyche focuses on the story of Jesus appearing to his disciples after his resurrection in John 21. The sermon starts by pondering Peter's state of mind as he decides to go fishing after all that has happened with Jesus. In the next section, the speaker reflects on the exchange between Jesus and Peter where Jesus asks Peter three times if he loves him and instructs him to take care of his sheep. Then Pastor Wyche delves into the humanity of Jesus and how his own hurt and betrayal by his friends is reflected in this conversation. He also explores the cultural and personal factors that may have influenced Peter's actions and mindset in relation to Jesus' death. However, through this interaction, the speaker sees a message of hope and restoration as Jesus offers Peter and all who feel they have failed a chance to make things right and start anew with a dangerous gift of hope in the power of God. In the second part of the sermon, the speaker moves on to discuss the importance of meeting Jesus in our current state, regardless of where we are in life. Just like how Jesus appeared to his disciples in their ordinary activities, he continues to meet us where we are, regardless of our circumstances. The speaker reminds the congregation that there is no place or aspect of their lives that is off-limits to Jesus' love and presence. He encourages them to walk faithfully in the ways of Jesus and to live as a reflection of his love and hope in the resurrection. In closing, Rev. Wyche leads the congregation in a prayer to invite the resurrected life into their hearts and to trust in the transformative power of God. He reminds them to live each moment as a testament to God's everlasting love and to embrace the abundance and hope that comes with it.

Two people find themselves in the same room with Jesus: Simon, an intellectual and a religious man, and a woman, who we are told lived “a sinful life.” What happens with them? Why does one of them remain cool and detached, while the other one sees their life transformed and changed? In the parable of the two debtors, we see what happens when people come to Jesus with two different conditions, and how Jesus responds to each of them. This sermon was preached by Dr. Timothy Keller at Redeemer Presbyterian Church on August 16, 2008. Series: The Parables of Jesus (1992). Scripture: Luke 7:36-50. Today's podcast is brought to you by Gospel in Life, the site for all sermons, books, study guides and resources from Timothy Keller and Redeemer Presbyterian Church. At the half way stage of Mark's gospel there is a wonderful unveiling and revealing that Jesus is the messiah. Yet it's immediately followed by confusion and a partial realisation of who Jesus is and what he's come to do. In the message Simon reminds us of the Glory of Christ. Join us for this message, as Pastor Mike reflects on the bold and authentic worship of the woman with the alabaster jar in the home of Simon the Pharisee.
Simon talks about Jesus Christ becoming the word, how he is our saviour and god anointed King of all. How Jesus is God, how he is the word, God's most important message, how he is the creator and how he is the Life and the Light. Simon then asks what our response is.

Luke 6:12-26 We are here to make 3D followers of Jesus because Jesus was quintessentially 3D. This passage is one of the greatest in the gospels at emphasising the ‘Three Greats’ of following Jesus.
In this past Sunday’s sermon we meet two very different people who are both seeking Jesus but for completely different reasons. On the surface it looks like a heart warming, feel good story like Julia Roberts and Richard Gere in Pretty Woman. Yet, at its heart it’s provocative and disturbing. This passage asks each of us: Who are you in the story? Give it a listen and see why this question is so important for you to answer.

Personal Encounters with Jesus Series # 11
Jesus said and did some amazing things, and over time he trained his team of apostles to say similar words and to do similar works and wonders. How can we learn from their story and advance the kingdom of God by doing the same things today?
This Summer we are in a conversation called “Red Letters.” In many Bibles, publishers put the words of Jesus in red for emphasis. It is a way of recognizing that Jesus is the lens through which we see the world and the lens through which we understand the scriptures. Tony Campolo and Shane Claiborne started a group a few years ago called “Red Letter Christians.” They describe their group on their website like this:The goal of Red Letter Christians is simple: To take Jesus seriously by endeavoring to live out His radical, counter-cultural teachings as set forth in Scripture, and especially embracing the lifestyle prescribed in the Sermon on the Mount. By calling ourselves Red Letter Christians, we refer to the fact that in many Bibles the words of Jesus are printed in red. What we are asserting, therefore, is that we have committed ourselves first and foremost to doing what Jesus said. Jesus calls us away from the consumerist values that dominate contemporary America. This Sunday we are going to look at some red letters telling the controversial story about Jesus, Simon the religious leader, and a prostitute. It was a very scandalous story in Jesus' day.
A remarkable story of how new followers of Jesus - Simon and Andrew - brought Jesus and other disciples to their home. Jesus saw the need for healing within that context and He performed a miracle for the mother-in-law. Her response and our response to a life altering intersecting with Jesus is to become His servants.
A daily devotional through the recorded words Jesus spoke while He walked alongside us. Our website http://alittlewalkwithgod.com. Thanks for joining me today for "A Little Walk with God." I'm your host Richard Agee. What was Jesus trying to tell Peter when He ask three times if he loved Him? Did you remember His command each time as well? Scripture John 21:15-19 Jesus: Simon, son of John, do you love Me more than these other things? Simon Peter: Yes, Lord. You know that I love You. Jesus: Take care of My lambs. Jesus asked him a second time . . . Jesus: Simon, son of John, do you love Me? Simon Peter: Yes, Lord. You must surely know that I love You. Jesus: Shepherd My sheep. (for the third time) Simon, son of John, do you love Me? Peter was hurt because He asked him the same question a third time, “Do you love Me?” Simon Peter: Lord, You know everything! You know that I love You. Jesus: Look after My sheep. I tell you the truth: when you were younger, you would dress yourself and go wherever you pleased; but when you grow old, you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and take you to a place you do not want to go. Jesus said all this to indicate the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God. After this conversation, Jesus said, Jesus: Follow Me! Devotional A lot has been said about why Jesus asked Peter three times whether he loved Him Three different words to describe love Like something like you like ice cream or a good movie Love like brotherly love Unconditional agape, god-like love Peter denied Jesus three times so Jesus asked Peter three times for each denial Peter needed to reach deep into His core to get past the flippant answer we all give to questions most of the time How are you? Fine How was your vacation? Great What can I do for you? Just looking Do you love me? Of course I do What we often forget is the command Jesus gave Peter that goes along with his declaration Take care of my sheep Shepherd my sheep Look after my sheep Do the hard work of keeping these fledgling followers encouraged during hard times Teach them My ways when the world is trying to drive them another way Give them help when they're caught in the storms of life Be their shepherd Jesus is telling Peter the same way James tells us in his letter Faith without works is dead Works do not save you But faith without works is not the faith Jesus wants of His followers, either Just ask Peter If you want to learn more about my church, you can find us at SAF.church. A daily devotional through the recorded words Jesus spoke while He walked alongside us. Our website http://alittlewalkwithgod.com. Thanks for joining me today for "A Little Walk with God." I'm your host Richard Agee. Ever make a big promises that you didn't keep? Peter made a whopper of a promise. Jesus caught him in his failure in less than half a day. Remember what that promise was? Scripture Luke 22:31-32 Jesus: Simon, Simon, how Satan has pursued you, that he might make you part of his harvest. But I have prayed for you. I have prayed that your faith will hold firm and that you will recover from your failure and become a source of strength for your brothers here. Peter:Lord, what are You talking about? I'm going all the way to the end with You—to prison, to execution—I'm prepared to do anything for You. Jesus: No, Peter, the truth is that before the rooster crows at dawn, you will have denied that you even know Me, not just once, but three times. Remember when I sent you out with no money, no pack, not even sandals? Did you lack anything? Disciples: Not a thing. Jesus: It's different now. If you have some savings, take them with you. If you have a pack, fill it and bring it. If you don't have a sword, sell your coat and buy one. Here's the truth: what the Hebrew Scriptures said, “And He was taken as one of the criminals,” must come to fruition in Me. These words must come true. Disciples: Look, Lord, we have two swords here. Jesus: That's enough. Devotional Peter is like a lot of us. Think we can stand the test Make promises we can't keep Crumble under the intense pressure against us Honest with ourselves We've done the same Failed to honor Him in the tough times Kept silent when He said to speak Went the path of least resistance Denied Him when the pressure was on Jesus says something important I have prayed for you That you faith will hold firm That you will recover from your failure That you will become a source of strength for your brothers Peter still failed that night and many other times recorded in the New Testament Recognized his failure Repented Learned from his errors Became stronger in his faith each time Finally was executed for his faith Jesus prayer extends to us as He sits at the right hand of the Father interceding for us That our faith will hold firm That we will recover from any failure That we will become a source of strength for our brothers and sisters If you want to learn more about my church, you can find us at SAF.church.
