Send us a textVictory in Christ comes when we allow Him to lead us through this life. What is hard about this is the things we are called to do and the manner in which to do them are often not something we want to do. So we often rationalize ways to avoid God's will. And that leads to spiritual desolation. Whereas trusting in Him no matter what brings about God's will which is often something we cannot grasp on our own.

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. (Proverbs 3:5) *1/ Why we should trust in the LORD. 2/ Why we should **not** lean to our own understanding. 3/ What are we to trust him for and how is that trust evidenced?* *This sermon was preached via Zoom to Providence Chapel Northampton.* **Sermon Summary:** The sermon centers on the imperative to trust God completely, as commanded in Proverbs 3:5, emphasizing that true faith involves trusting in the LORD with all our heart, rejecting self-reliance in favour of divine sovereignty. It argues that God is worthy of trust because of His eternal purpose, infinite knowledge, sovereign power, and unchanging love, all of which are demonstrated throughout Scripture—from the covenant with Abraham to the redemptive plan fulfilled in Christ. The sermon warns against relying on human understanding, which is limited, fallible, and prone to deception, using examples like the Gibeonites and the Israelites' misjudgement to illustrate the dangers of self-trust. Ultimately, genuine trust is evidenced not in passive resignation but in active obedience: seeking salvation through Christ, pursuing spiritual growth, engaging in prayer and the means of grace, and making decisions aligned with Scripture, providence, and a willing heart, all while relying on God's guidance in every area of life.

Welcome to a heartfelt and transformative episode of Compared to Who?! Today, Heather Creekmore gets real, sharing a sincere apology and a powerful re-focus for the community. If you’ve been on a journey of body image struggles or striving for personal freedom, this episode will meet you right where you are. Episode Summary:Heather shares how she’s been convicted about how she’s focused on the roots of body image issues over the past few seasons, particularly focusing too much on intellectual understanding and analysis. Using the wisdom of Proverbs 3:5-6 — “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding…” — Heather shares how she’s issuing a fresh call to the freedom that doesn’t come from unraveling the origins of our issues, but from surrendering to Christ, being discipled, and letting Jesus heal and transform every part of us. Key Insights from This Episode: The Power of Surrender: Understanding why we struggle with body image isn’t the path to freedom; surrendering to Christ is. Shift from Self-Help to Discipleship: Heather unpacks the biblical idea of discipleship — growing to be more like Jesus — as the most effective way to address body image battles and find lasting satisfaction. Freedom Beyond Understanding: Instead of searching for intellectual solutions or falling into endless self-analysis, this episode encourages letting God into the healing process and allowing your heart (not just your head) to be transformed. Counter to Cultural Messages: Heather warns against both secular and “Christian” body positivity messages that focus on self-pride and fixing your exterior, reminding us that Scripture leads us to humility and dependence on Christ. Living with Satisfaction: Drawing from Matthew 5:6 and Philippians 3-4, she explores the true path to satisfaction in life and body image, which is found only in hungering and thirsting for righteousness through a relationship with Jesus. This is message 26 in The Power of God's Name Psalm 124:1-8 When the enemies of God's people rise with overwhelming strength, the outcome does not rest on human alliances, wisdom, or might, but on the Lord Himself. He alone breaks the snare, halts the flood, and silences, the devourer. The same God who made heaven and earth is the unfailing help of His people, proving that no enemy is greater than His power to deliver. In a world where we're constantly tempted to place our security in politics, military strength, or economic systems, Psalm 33 offers a timeless reminder about where true trust should rest. Dr. John begins a new series on Psalms 33-41, exploring the psalm's call to "Always Trust in the Lord." He examines the invitation to joyful worship and God's sovereignty over creation and nations, challenging listeners to examine where they place their ultimate trust.Reasons for Worship: In a world of political turmoil, personal struggles, and the apparent prosperity of evil, where should believers place their trust? Dr. John's series on Psalms 33–41 called “Reasons for Worship” explores God's faithfulness amid life's challenges. From David's escapes to his reflections on the wicked, these psalms offer practical wisdom for trusting God, finding hope in desperate circumstances, and keeping faith when evil seems to prevail. This series brings both comfort and challenge, pointing to the God who is completely trustworthy in every season.

Tenth Sunday of Pentecost - Pastor Matthew Knopf leads this service with his sermon 'Trust in the Lord' based on Psalm 46
In this episode of Arise + Abide, Curtis and Sally reflect on Psalm 125 and the assurance it offers to those who trust in the Lord. Drawing from the imagery of Mount Zion and the mountains encircling Jerusalem, they explore how God surrounds His people with unshakable protection—both now and forever. As they meditate on the psalmist's words, the hosts share personal reflections on the beauty and symbolism of mountain landscapes and how that physical imagery evokes God's spiritual guardianship. Curtis underscores the importance of trusting God not just as a distant protector, but as the One who dwells within us, transforming our hearts from the inside out. Sally ties in prophetic visions from Zechariah and Jeremiah to illustrate how God's presence creates a protective “wall of fire” and a fruitful, enduring life for those rooted in Him. The conversation also considers the human tendency to sort people into “good” or “bad,” contrasted with God's gracious invitation for all to turn from their ways and be made righteous through Him. With themes of trust, transformation, and spiritual alignment, this episode invites listeners to surrender more deeply and live with confidence in the faithful love of God.
Fr. Mike reflects on King Saul's despair in the face of trial, and how he seeks other means of comfort when he feels like God has abandoned him. God never abandons us, especially in the midst of danger. Fr. Mike invites us to place our trust in God's promise, instead of resorting to sinful acts.
