"Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose trust is the LORD. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit." Jeremiah 17:7-8
Fr. Mike reads Genesis 12-13, Job 1-2, and Proverbs 1:1-7 and shows how Abram and Job, despite their brokenness, were able to trust in God. Paul's hopes were rooted in Jesus' divinity
This is message 31 in The Names of God Series Jeremiah 17:1-8 he Fountain of Living Water is the only true source of life, strength, and satisfaction. Every other source people trust in eventually runs dry, but God never does. Those who rely on their own wisdom, human help, or the deceitfulness of their own hearts find only emptiness, while those who trust in the Lord become rooted, supplied, and fruitful even in the hardest seasons. God exposes false wells, invites His people back to Himself, and calls them to live from His continual, life-giving supply. Send us a textVictory in Christ comes when we allow Him to lead us through this life. What is hard about this is the things we are called to do and the manner in which to do them are often not something we want to do. So we often rationalize ways to avoid God's will. And that leads to spiritual desolation. Whereas trusting in Him no matter what brings about God's will which is often something we cannot grasp on our own.

Welcome to a heartfelt and transformative episode of Compared to Who?! Today, Heather Creekmore gets real, sharing a sincere apology and a powerful re-focus for the community. If you’ve been on a journey of body image struggles or striving for personal freedom, this episode will meet you right where you are. Episode Summary:Heather shares how she’s been convicted about how she’s focused on the roots of body image issues over the past few seasons, particularly focusing too much on intellectual understanding and analysis. Using the wisdom of Proverbs 3:5-6 — “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding…” — Heather shares how she’s issuing a fresh call to the freedom that doesn’t come from unraveling the origins of our issues, but from surrendering to Christ, being discipled, and letting Jesus heal and transform every part of us. Key Insights from This Episode: The Power of Surrender: Understanding why we struggle with body image isn’t the path to freedom; surrendering to Christ is. Shift from Self-Help to Discipleship: Heather unpacks the biblical idea of discipleship — growing to be more like Jesus — as the most effective way to address body image battles and find lasting satisfaction. Freedom Beyond Understanding: Instead of searching for intellectual solutions or falling into endless self-analysis, this episode encourages letting God into the healing process and allowing your heart (not just your head) to be transformed. Counter to Cultural Messages: Heather warns against both secular and “Christian” body positivity messages that focus on self-pride and fixing your exterior, reminding us that Scripture leads us to humility and dependence on Christ. Living with Satisfaction: Drawing from Matthew 5:6 and Philippians 3-4, she explores the true path to satisfaction in life and body image, which is found only in hungering and thirsting for righteousness through a relationship with Jesus. Fr. Mike reflects on King Saul's despair in the face of trial, and how he seeks other means of comfort when he feels like God has abandoned him. God never abandons us, especially in the midst of danger. Fr. Mike invites us to place our trust in God's promise, instead of resorting to sinful acts. Today's readings are 1 Samuel 27-28 and Psalm 34. For the complete reading plan, visit ascensionpress.com/bibleinayear. Fr. Mike uses King Saul as an example that God does not unchoose those he has chosen, and never loses faith in us. Even if we feel someone is in power unjustly, it's God who decides who holds power, not us. Today's readings are 1 Samuel 24 and Psalm 57. Fr. Mike reminds us that God keeps his promises, even if it takes a little longer than we thought. Just like the people of Israel received everything the Lord had promised them, we too will receive everything the Lord has promised us, even in the midst of hardship and temptation. Today's readings are Joshua 19-21, and Psalm 131. For the complete reading plan, visit ascensionpress.com/bibleinayear.
