John 20:1-20 The Empty Tomb1 Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the entrance. 2 So she came running to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one Jesus loved, and said, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we don't know where they have put him!” 3 So Peter and the other disciple started for the tomb.4 Both were running, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first.5 He bent over and looked in at the strips of linen lying there but did not go in.6 Then Simon Peter came along behind him and went straight into the tomb. He saw the strips of linen lying there,7 as well as the cloth that had been wrapped around Jesus' head. The cloth was still lying in its place, separate from the linen.8 Finally the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went inside. He saw and believed.9 (They still did not understand from Scripture that Jesus had to rise from the dead.)10 Then the disciples went back to where they were staying.Jesus Appears to Mary Magdalene11 Now Mary stood outside the tomb crying. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb12 and saw two angels in white, seated where Jesus' body had been, one at the head and the other at the foot. 13 They asked her, “Woman, why are you crying?” “They have taken my Lord away,” she said, “and I don't know where they have put him.” 14 At this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not realize that it was Jesus. 15 He asked her, “Woman, why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for?” Thinking he was the gardener, she said, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will get him.” 16 Jesus said to her, “Mary.” She turned toward him and cried out in Aramaic, “Rabboni!” (which means “Teacher”). 17 Jesus said, “Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.'” 18 Mary Magdalene went to the disciples with the news: “I have seen the Lord!” And she told them that he had said these things to her.Jesus Appears to His Disciples19 On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” 20 After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord. Acts 17:30-31 30 In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent. 31 For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to everyone by raising him from the dead.” Fix Your Eyes Upon Jesus - The Resurrection of Christ 1. The Resurrection Is God's Vindication of Jesus 2. PASSION8 "The Empty Tomb" Pastor Brad Gaillard April 20, 2025 by Tuscaloosa First Assembly
As you hear again the wonderful announcement of Easter morning, be careful not to fill up empty promises. There are a lot of sugar-coated, empty promises that get squeezed into the season. What the women were confronted with on Easter morning was not a basket of empty promises, but an empty tomb – and the fulfillment of God's promise of everlasting life for you.

Easter SundayIn this powerful Easter message, Pastor Eric walks us through Luke 24:1–12, where the women arrive at Jesus' tomb at dawn, only to find the stone rolled away and the body gone. As confusion sets in, two angels appear and remind them of Jesus' promise: “He is not here; He has risen.” Pastor Eric reflects on the courage of the women, the initial doubt of the disciples, and the wonder of Peter as he races to the tomb. This passage challenges us to confront our own doubts and embrace the life-changing truth of the resurrection. Through Pastor Eric's message, we're reminded that faith often begins where certainty ends—and that the empty tomb is not the end of the story, but the beginning of eternal hope.Prayer of the Day God of mercy, we no longer look for Jesus among the dead, for he is alive and has become the Lord of life. Increase in our minds and hearts the risen life we share with Christ, and help us to grow as your people toward the fullness of eternal life with you, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. In this Resurrection Sunday sermon, Pastor Rob McCoy celebrates the transformative power of Jesus' resurrection, drawing from 1 Corinthians 15 to proclaim the gospel's victory over sin and death. Reflecting on the brutal cost of the cross and the hope of the empty tomb, Pastor Rob connects the resurrection's impact to personal stories of salvation, cultural lies, and the enduring truth of Christ's sacrifice. He challenges listeners to embrace Jesus as Savior, emphasizing that the cross and tomb, once symbols of death, now represent hope and eternal life, urging a public profession of faith through baptism to mark this life-changing transformation.Verse References: 1 Corinthians 15:1-11, 1 Corinthians 15:54-57Make sure you subscribe to this channel and follow us on all our platforms to always stay up to date with our latest content! And you can always head over to our website for any general information!https://godspeak.comPrayer/NeedsIf you have any needs, or have a willingness to be used to meet various need in the body, please email info@godspeak.com. There are three special days that give Christianity center stage around the world: Christmas Day points to a cradle, Good Friday points to a cross, and Easter points to a cave. Without Easter, the other two days would be meaningless. Our world is filled with thousands of religions, but only four are built on personalities rather than philosophies. Judaism's Abraham, Buddhism's Buddha, and Islam's Mohammed all died and remain dead. But Jesus Christ did something no other religious leader has done; He rose from the dead. Christianity traces its beginning to one single event—the resurrection. Mark 16:1–8 tells us about that first Easter morning, when grieving women discovered the news that would change human history: "He has risen! He is not here." That empty tomb gives us hope for our lives now and for eternity.
This Easter, we're following the journey of Jesus on the path that changed everything. What if the road to the cross was really the way to life? Austin Wadlow shares from Luke 24:1-12 on how You Can't Ignore the Empty Tomb
The people who followed Jesus most closely did not believe Jesus was going to rise from the dead or that he had risen from the dead, even when they saw The Empty Tomb. That's because their experience with death was the same experience we've had with death. So what if the tomb was empty? That could be explained in any number of ways. But something changed on the first Easter and even the following week… Learn more about Mountaintop Church at https://mountaintopchurch.com
8 Days That Changed Everything // Empty Tomb: More Than Just Empty Space (Pt. 3) | Jared Douglas
On Easter Sunday, Pastor Robey Barnes proclaims the life-changing truth of the resurrection in a message titled From Death to Life: The Empty Tomb. Drawing a powerful parallel between a little-known WWII story—where prisoners rejoiced at news of victory before their circumstances changed—and the discovery of the empty tomb, this message reminds us that the resurrection of Jesus is the ultimate good news. Through the eyes of Mary Magdalene, Peter, and John, we witness a range of responses to the risen Christ and are invited to consider our own. This sermon calls us to rejoice in the victory Jesus won over sin and death, to embrace the eternal life He offers, and to boldly share the news that changes everything.
He is Risen! Take a look at this historical account of the Resurrection: a scene you simply can't ignore.
Not An Empty Tomb :: Easter Sunday
Easter reminds us that Jesus is not a king like any other. He wore a crown of thorns, endured the cross, and rose from the grave—not to build a worldly empire, but to bring us into a new kind of kingdom. A kingdom where shame is traded for hope, and where death no longer wins. Watch this Easter message and discover how the resurrection changes everything.Questions for Reflection:• What part of the Easter story are you most drawn to this year—the crown, the cross, or the empty tomb? Why?• How might surrendering to Jesus as King impact the way you face fear, shame, or uncertainty?
The Promise of the Empty Tomb #nightlight #rttbrosThe Empty Tomb's Promise: How Christ's Resurrection Changes Everything"And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun. And they said among themselves, Who shall roll us away the stone from the door of the sepulchre? And when they looked, they saw that the stone was rolled away: for it was very great." - Mark 16:2-4The women approached the tomb that morning with heavy hearts and heavier questions. How would they move the massive stone? How would they properly care for their Lord's body? Their concerns were practical, mundane even—the logistics of grief. But God had greater plans. The stone wasn't just moved—it was completely rolled away. The tomb wasn't just accessible—it was empty. The impossible had happened, not by human hands, but by divine power. This Easter, we're reminded that our greatest obstacles—the immovable stones in our lives—have already been addressed by a God who specializes in the impossible. The resurrection isn't just a historical event; it's a present reality that transforms our darkest moments. The empty tomb tells us that death doesn't have the final word. Pain doesn't have the final word. Sin doesn't have the final word. Christ has the final word, and that word is life.As we celebrate Easter, may we approach our lives with the same surprise and wonder as those first witnesses, realizing that the stone has already been rolled away, and new life awaits us beyond what we thought possible.Let us pray: Heavenly Father, thank you for the miracle of Easter morning. Help us to live as resurrection people, confident that You have already overcome our greatest challenges. In Jesus' name, Amen.
