Pastor JaymesfalseDon't Settle for an Empty Tomb (Part 3)
Sermon Passage: Mark 14:50-52, 16:1-850 And they all left him and fled. 51 And a young man followed him, with nothing but a linen cloth about his body. And they seized him, 52 but he left the linen cloth and ran away naked.1 When the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices, so that they might go and anoint him. 2 And very early on the first day of the week, when the sun had risen, they went to the tomb. 3 And they were saying to one another, “Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance of the tomb?” 4 And looking up, they saw that the stone had been rolled back—it was very large. 5 And entering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, dressed in a white robe, and they were alarmed. 6 And he said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen; he is not here. See the place where they laid him. 7 But go, tell his disciples and Peter that he is going before you to Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.” 8 And they went out and fled from the tomb, for trembling and astonishment had seized them, and they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid.

We've come a long way from the Babe in the Manger! From the Stable, to the Cross, and then to the Empty Tomb, the gospel demands that we keep opening our minds to try to understand who Jesus is. If we can also see Him as the Lamb on the throne of Heaven, executing judgment, then we have something like a full picture. It's a Christ that few recognize. But after all, Heaven - not Bethlehem - is His "hometown." We're in Revelation 6. An Empty Tomb: John 20:1-18 (Nate Edmondson) by Highlands Community Church
In this Resurrection Sunday sermon, Pastor Rob McCoy celebrates the transformative power of Jesus' resurrection, drawing from 1 Corinthians 15 to proclaim the gospel's victory over sin and death. Reflecting on the brutal cost of the cross and the hope of the empty tomb, Pastor Rob connects the resurrection's impact to personal stories of salvation, cultural lies, and the enduring truth of Christ's sacrifice. He challenges listeners to embrace Jesus as Savior, emphasizing that the cross and tomb, once symbols of death, now represent hope and eternal life, urging a public profession of faith through baptism to mark this life-changing transformation.Verse References: 1 Corinthians 15:1-11, 1 Corinthians 15:54-57Make sure you subscribe to this channel and follow us on all our platforms to always stay up to date with our latest content! And you can always head over to our website for any general information!https://godspeak.comPrayer/NeedsIf you have any needs, or have a willingness to be used to meet various need in the body, please email info@godspeak.com. There are three special days that give Christianity center stage around the world: Christmas Day points to a cradle, Good Friday points to a cross, and Easter points to a cave. Without Easter, the other two days would be meaningless. Our world is filled with thousands of religions, but only four are built on personalities rather than philosophies. Judaism's Abraham, Buddhism's Buddha, and Islam's Mohammed all died and remain dead. But Jesus Christ did something no other religious leader has done; He rose from the dead. Christianity traces its beginning to one single event—the resurrection. Mark 16:1–8 tells us about that first Easter morning, when grieving women discovered the news that would change human history: "He has risen! He is not here." That empty tomb gives us hope for our lives now and for eternity.

Today, we are slowing down to focus on what is most important — the cross and the empty tomb. As believers, Holy Week is not just a date on the calendar — it's the very center of our faith. So today, we want to journey together from Palm Sunday to Good Friday to Easter Sunday, reflecting deeply on what these days truly mean for us.
The stark contrast between our Easter and Christmas celebrations reveals a troubling disconnect between our theology and our practice. Why does the birth of Christ receive months of anticipation, elaborate decorations, and significant financial investment, while the resurrection—the very foundation of our faith—often feels like a mere footnote in the Christian calendar?Don't forget to check out the Book of The Week: The Eternal Optimist: It's Never Too Late by Matt Drinkhahn2025 Reclaiming the Wild Men's RetreatDisconnect from the digital world and reconnect with your fellow brothers in Christ around a crackling campfire. I wonder why we call it Good Friday? For those of us who have placed our trust in Jesus Christ as our Savior, celebrating his resurrection is of utmost importance to us. Our salvation rests on the fact that Christ is risen indeed. Yet, why we would call this Friday a “good” day? That day is a good day if you have an eternal perspective. The day Jesus died is the Day of Atonement, when once and for all, Jesus became our sacrifice, shedding his blood, paying the debt we owe, so we could be forgiven of our sins and made righteous in Jesus. God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God (2 Corinthians 5:21). That is what took place as Jesus was crucified. Therefore, he had to die in order to become a perfect sacrifice that would pay for our sins. As a result, we have the opportunity to become the righteousness of God, so that God sees us in Christ, redeemed and righteous before him. It's a Good Friday for us because Jesus gave his all on that day. However, without Resurrection Sunday, this Friday would not be good. It is because of the resurrection we can call this Good Friday—the day Jesus paid it all for us. The price he paid—bearing all our sin and being separated from his Father—was far greater than the agony of the crucifixion, as terrible as that was. And he endured it for you, declaring as he died, It is finished. He did it all so you and I could be assured of eternity with him.

Many think of Easter as the day with eggs, bunnies, and chocolate candies, but in reality this day commemorates a day that changed everything! For this is a day where the tomb was found empty that now over 2 billion people around the world come together to reflect on, remember, and celebrate a Risen Savior, the Risen Christ! 1 Peter 1:3 says, "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead." You see, the resurrection is the pillar and the foundation of our faith!! A day that reminds us, not only did Christ defeat sin by paying the ultimate sacrifice for our sins through a substitutionary death on the cross, but then by rising again 3 days later He defeated death, providing each and every one of us the opportunity to spend eternal life with HIM. By rising from the dead, Jesus Christ demonstrated that He had cleansed the guilt of our past and is able to help and walk alongside of us in our present. His resurrection provides us with an ever-present HOPE assuring us that our future is safe and secure. You see, the empty tomb is proof of Christ's deity, and it guarantees the future resurrection of His believers, those who have been saved. Romans 10:9 says, that “If you declare with your mouth that “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved! However, many remain puzzled and confused asking questions such as, “Why did Jesus have to die?” or “Why did He have to die in that way?” or even “How do we know that the tomb was empty?” or lastly “If the tomb really was empty, how then should we live our lives?” Thankfully today we have Senior Pastor of Thomas Road Baptist Church and Chancellor of Liberty University, Jonathan Falwell here to unpack all of these questions as he so elequently simplifies the good news of the gospel for us all to understand! Remember, Easter is not simply a moment or a part of history – Easter is the meaning and the point of history… Easter isn’t just about one day – the message of Easter is a lifestyle that we can live with every moment of every day! Happy Easter!
