In this volume of the Trails & Tribulations series on the Just Trek podcast, I welcome back SoCal trekker, Justin Williams aka @RockhoundHiker, to recount a 2016 “vision quest” style thru-hike across Southern California's mighty San Gabriel Mountains. Starting at Ling Yen Mountain Temple near the Etiwanda Preserve, Justin set out severely underprepared—carrying only water and three apples—on a roughly multi-day, ~60-mile push toward St. Andrew's Abbey in Valyermo, California. Along the way he commits to dangerous off-trail terrain, including climbing multiple 40–50 foot dry waterfalls with loose rock, an all-night bushwhack through thorny buckthorn and a wrong turn that sends him up a rugged ridge to Etiwanda Peak before reconnecting to the route toward Cucamonga Peak and Baldy. As heat, dehydration, and electrolyte depletion set in, he vomits repeatedly, naps in a cave to escape the sun, accepts help from hikers. He shares memorable encounters—especially meeting Mr. Kim on Mt. Baldy, a hiker on a personal pilgrimage for Korean reunification who later died on the mountain—and describes being emotionally shaken by a memorial to PCT hikers who died in snow, prompting reflection on the consequences of risk and who we leave behind. Have you ever experienced a survival moment or learned a tough lesson on the trail? Maybe you got lost, faced sudden weather, encountered wildlife, or found yourself pushed to your limits in ways you didn't expect. In this video, I discuss how trials, adversities, and tribulations will lead you to joy, blessings, and the light at the end of the tunnel. But do those trials, tribulations, and adversities, you supposed to be not only going through that journey, and path, but you also supposed to be sitting still, and observing, learning, and preparing to go through that situation that you will be facing. Life is not about things being perfect, it's about going through challenges, difficult times, chaos, destruction, pain, suffering, illnesses, abuse, trauma, and multiple of other things that make you a better person through those adversities, trials, tribulations. In the Bible of James 1: 1-3 it talks about how through those trials, and tribulations, and adversities you find joy. And there's a difference between joy, and happiness. Joy is something that you find within yourself, no matter what. Whereas happiness is only based upon how you feel, and it's temporary. So through the. healing and recovery journey, and path is about finding joy within yourself, instead of trying to find happiness that is only temporary. Once you find joy, then no matter if happiness stays your goals, you will still have peace, and tranquility within yourself. And through. my own healing and recover recovery, I found joy that doesn't come from anyone else but me. So I hope this video gives you inspiration through the times where you go through trials, tribulations, and adversities. #healing #recovery #joyBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/finding-your-inner-peace-and-tranquility--5271234/support.

Show notes provided by Joe PelusoSixty years this coming September the crew of the starship USSEnterprise (NCC-1701) took us on a trek to the stars --"to go where no one has gone before!". Its maiden voyage bowed on the NBC Network on September 8th, 1966. And the genre of science fiction would never be the same. One second season episode (a rare sci-fi comedy/adventure) would introduce to the loyal fans a tiny, furry creature that would cause havoc and hilarity for the captain and crew. What followed in the ensuing years was a growing fanbase that helped launch conventions, comic books, merchandise, an animated sequel, motion pictures and a philosophy of a hopeful future that permeated the culture. And if that wasn't enough, thirty years from that historicbeginning the crew of Deep Space 9 (the second Star Trek spinoff) ventured back to that OG Enterprise for a grand time travel adventure that reaffirmed once again those tiny, furry tribbles always cause Trouble and Tribulations. Join your hosts, Starfleet Captains, James, Josh, John, and ensign Joe (He got reduced in rank for rigging the Enterprise bowling alley to record only strikes.) as they perform a full diagnostic on Star Trek's "The Trouble With Tribbles" and Star Trek DS9's "Trials and Tribulations".What follows is an hour of thoughtful examinations of--Oh who are we kidding?! It's a total "geekfest"! But amidst the guffaws there are cogent observations and a "storage bin" of Trek history. If you enjoy StarTrek occasionally going off script, then this isthe episode for you. The guys had a blast recording this episode, and we think you'll have one when you listen. Just remember to keep those phasers on stun. When things get silly the lamp usually gets broken.Or in this world, the turbo lift gets stuck SIXTY YEARS OF STAR TREK! Remember to live long and prosper.

In this gripping episode of the Trails & Tribulations series, I welcome Jose De La Rosa, a fellow SoCal peak bagger and hiking group leader, as he recounts a high-stakes rescue mission in the San Gabriel Mountains. After a successful group hike to Ontario Peak, Jose received a distress call from a friend who had slid down a canyon and was lost. What follows is an intense journey of leadership, teamwork, and determination as Jose and his friend Alfonso race against time and the elements to bring her back safely. The episode highlights critical lessons about the buddy system, staying calm in emergencies, and the importance of never being overconfident especially in challenging conditions. Beat Migs! We got straight to the comments and a lot of people are complaining about Thanksgiving! Tune in to find out what they have to say.
Happy Thanksgiving week and I know this season upon which we enter is a sacred one. While we want to fill our buckets up with gratitude, peace, and joy, it's easy to be overrun with busy-ness, chaos, angst, stress, and overwhelm. As we head into Thanksgiving week and the holiday season, I wanted to slow things down…take a deep breath… and talk about two of the most powerful forces we have in our lives: Gratitude and Grace. If you want to feel more joy, more peace, more purpose and even more love, gratitude and grace are the gateway. Today, I want to share 7 things I'm especially grateful for this Thanksgiving and then I want to talk about how grace shows up—even in the imperfect, messy, beautiful parts of our lives. Let's dive in now: I'm particularly GRATEFUL for: Family. Pumped to be heading to South Carolina to celebrate Thanksgiving in the Carolina's. The amazing Retreat we just had and the 110 SOULS who said 'Yes' to being in the Room. Included are some of my top takeaways from Retreat… Health…on all levels physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. The Trials, Tests, & Tribulations. Yep. Sounds strange but I'm grateful for the struggles and pain as it got me to where I'm at today. And I've learned to be grateful in the 'hard seasons.' My Life's Work—Coaching, Inspiring, & Leading people to be THEIR best. I'm grateful for the calling on my life to coach, motivate, teach, and transform lives. Friends & the IMPACT Community. I'm grateful for the people who inspire me, challenge me, stretch me, and support me. And people just like you listening to the podcast or reading the Shownotes or even one of my books. Thank you. We have one heckuva Community and I'm grateful for you. Opportunity & Possibility. I'm grateful for the open doors, the new projects, the ideas, the creativity, the energy that flows when you're aligned with your purpose. Faith…it has carried me through the highest mountains and the lowest valleys. Additionally, I share the difference between GRATITUDE and GRACE and define what GRACE really is. This Thanksgiving, I pray that you not only feel gratitude… but that you extend grace—to others, and to yourself. Here is your Thanksgiving Challenge This week, take 5 minutes each morning and write down: 3 things you're grateful for 1 person you want to extend grace toward CLOSING PRAYER God, thank You for the blessings in our lives—seen and unseen, big and small. Thank You for family, for health, for purpose, for love, and for the breath in our lungs. Help us to live with gratitude, to lead with grace, and to be a light in the world. Amen. FINAL WORD From the Durkin family to your family…Happy Thanksgiving. May your heart be full of gratitude, your spirit grounded in grace, and your life be overflowing with IMPACT. If we are to stand and endure the times, we must accept that good and bad things will happen, unexpected and expected. Trials, tribulations, storms, bad experiences, etc. can make you a very strong individual if you're of the right mindset going into them. My recommendation for all is to stand on the Word of God, allow inner healing, believe in yourself, love yourself, and never get distracted by or give power to people or things. Stay focused on the Lord because He will give you that supernatural peace that surpasses all understanding. It's a guarantee!Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/relationships-and-relatable-life-chronicles--4126439/support.

What holds your heart steady when chaos surrounds you? In today’s message, Pastor JD calls you to stand firm in faith during the end times. On this episode, up and coming country music singer/songwriter, Mae Estes sits down with Bobby to connect all the dots: from a possible family tie between the two of them, to the small-town, big-dream path that makes her life story pure country music. She opens up about the best advice she’s gotten from Ashley McBryde, what really happens behind the scenes while touring with Luke Bryan, and why she’s more focused on longevity than viral moments. How do you keep going when trials seem unrelenting? In today’s message, Pastor JD urges steadfastness in the face of end-time struggles. Tribulations may press hard, but they’re temporary, not eternal. God’s faithfulness promises an end to all suffering, a hope that can hold you steady, only if you cling to it.

On this episode, we kick off Volume 1 of the Trails & Tribulations series! This trail tale dives into Marlee's unforgettable water canyoneering expedition through one of LA's best-kept adventure secrets — Eaton Canyon and Falls. But we're not talking about the popular trail to the waterfall. This story takes you above the falls, into a hidden & rugged canyon that's tough to access and only for experienced canyoneers. It was Marlee's first long water canyoneering trip, packed with cliff jumps, endless rope rappels, icy plunge pools, and sheer drops that tested every ounce of courage she had. What started as an epic group adventure quickly turned into a battle against fear, fatigue, and the raw power of nature.______________Have you ever experienced a survival moment or learned a tough lesson on the trail? Big news, Just Trek community! On this episode, I'm thrilled to announce the launch of a brand-new series called Trails & Tribulations. This series will spotlight everyday outdoor adventurers and trail enthusiasts as they share their raw, real stories of close calls, hard-earned lessons, and the resilience it takes to face the wild. I dive into the inspiration behind the new series and kick things off by reliving my harrowing experience surviving a thunder and lightning storm atop Southern California's tallest peak. Have you ever experienced a survival moment or learned a tough lesson on the trail? Maybe you got lost, faced sudden weather, encountered wildlife, or found yourself pushed to your limits in ways you didn't expect. Send us comments, suggestions and ideas here! In this week's episode we raise our eyes to the heavens and prepare ourselves to be sucked straight into God's waiting room as we investigate the unlikely modern trend which sees people from all over the world selling their cars, rehoming their pets and spending more time out doors in preparation for the rapture; an event where God's faithful ascend into heaven prior to the kick-off of Armageddon and the seven years of brutal Tribulations during the end of the world when Jesus comes back to kick Satan in the teeth. On the free side of the show we explore the modern trend as it explodes on Tik Tok before winding back the clock to see how the faithful and the Church alike have long theorized about this particular event before wrapping up what the entire thing has to do with Aleister Crowley. More than you'd think probably. In the extended show we take a look at places where the tribulations period has invaded popular culture before settling into a rather enlightening investigation into the Virgin Mary's Assumption into heaven which, at the very end, descends into Tim and Luke yelling at each other about Star Wars. Thank you and enjoy the show! In the free side of the show we discuss:-Joshua Mhlakela and Rapture-Tok-Rosh Hashanah and Christian overlap with Jewish holidays?-The Quiet Revival-Signs of the End Times-The Antichrist and the Tribulations Period-Mark of the BeastIn the extended show available at www.patreon.com/TheWholeRabbit we go further down the rabbit hole to discuss:-Tribulations and Pop Culture-Dispensationalism-The Assumption of Mary-Judgement DayEach host is responsible for writing and creating the content they present.Luke is red, Tim is black/green, Mari is blue and Heka is purple. In life, I've asked for patience. And guess what I got? A long wait on things I wanted. When I asked for integrity........... I was tested at every turn. When I asked about having more responsibility, I got more people to care for, and more bills to go with it. When you're setting your intentions and asking for more, be sure you know what it is you are asking for. The path you choose will not be easy. There will be trials. Tribulations. And tests to see if you are willing to be who you need to become to receive the gifts you're requesting. Stay focused. And realize, everything you want, you can have right now. All you have to do is ask.
