Walking by the Spirit - Satanic Christianity - Bryan Mowrey - (02/11/24) by Jubilee Church
We see over and over that "the LORD with with David!" And you say, “He’s David! King David! God had a plan for his life, he’s the king after God’s own heart, it was set in stone! It was meant to be! But not me. The Lord’s not with me.” And yes it’s God’s Word, it’s history, it’s come to pass, but the story was being written as David walked this earth. And the pages weren’t set in ink yet. And the reality is as Christians, we have the LORD with us as He did! Let it not be in vain!
In this week's sermon, Pastor Michael discusses Galatians 5:16-26, and reflects on what it means to walk according to the spirit, rather than the flesh.
Galatians 5:16-24English Standard VersionBut I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

Psalm 10:4, In the pride of his face the wicked does not seek Him; all his thoughts are, “There is no God.” More and more these days, people are driven by emotion. Just a casual drive down Highway 50 gives you a clear picture of people acting and responding on emotion. Often those emotions are anger, frustration, impatience, etc. ---------- How do we allow "cooler heads to prevail" when faced with circumstances that test our emotions. The answer lies in being grounded spiritually. Being led by Spirit allows us to face negative emotions without losing control. Obviously, it isn't something that happens overnight, but as we commit ourselves to follow Christ, we slowly learn to follow His Spirit rather than our own desires. ---------- Samson was a man driven by his emotions and those feelings led him to commit acts that satisfied his own desire but didn't submit to God's will and the leading of His Spirit.
Gary responds to an individual that claims Torah law no longer applies to Christians. Are we to believe that these moral standards disappeared with the coming of the New Covenant, and they no longer have any application to the nations? “Walking by the Spirit” (Gal. 5:16) necessitates walking by an objective standard.

In 2 Timothy 3:16-17, Paul tells us that the Scriptures are “breathed out by God…so we may be equipped for good work.” The biblical idea for God's Spirit is that it is his breath, so Scripture and God's Spirit are intimately tied to one another. A large part of our spirituality, walking by the Spirit, is reading, studying and having the Scripture taught to us. The Spirit works through all of this to grow us. How does this happen? And how does the spiritual gift of teaching play into it? Pastor Joel closes this series on Christian spirituality by tackling this question!
he Spirit of God pours out on Christ's followers, not just for themselves, but to connect them to one another, a body of the Christ. This includes being given gifts to be used to love the body. Christians needs to keep this vision in mind to truly walk by the Spirit! In this sermon, Pastor Joel walks through the gifts listed by the Apostle Paul and help us understand them, so that we might know how the Spirit has been poured on us and how we can use it to love the body.
We all want to hear from God, but what does it look like to listen to his Spirit on a daily basis? Pastor Julie talks about three shifts in our thinking to help us be more open to the spirit in our everyday lives: 1. The Spirit is not a tool but a relationship. 2. The Spirit works for God's glory not for ours. 3. The Spirit works on God's timeline, not ours.
The right words spoken to us have the power to bring life. The God of Christianity is a speaking God, who fills us with life through his word. He speaks to us in many ways, but sometimes he will speak to us by giving another person a word to share with us, a word to strengthen, encourage, and edify us. Scripture calls this kind of word prophecy. What we learn in Scripture is that prophecy is a form of deep spirituality, but one that must be used with accountability. When it isn't, people can be left at best confused, and at worst, hurt in significant ways. In this sermon, Pastor Joel dives deep into the Scripture to explore prophecy, how it can help our church, why it matters we do it in the right way, and how we can test it.
For four years, Res City has been sustained by God's grace and his Spirit. We celebrate our birthday every year to worship God. We truly believe God's Spirit has graced us with uncommon blessings! In this sermon Pastor Joel takes a look at one of the most pivotal churches in the New Testament, the church at Antioch, a church where the Spirit of God moved to make it uncommon—unlike any other gathering of people previously known. In what ways do we see the Spirit moving similarly at Res City? And how can we continue to grow in the work of the Spirit in our midst? We dig into all of this and more here!
One of the most essential ways we walk by the Spirit is through prayer. Praying is so basic to our faith that sometimes we need to pause and remind ourselves of how we should pray. In this sermon, Leadership Team member Krista Schroeder talks about simple but powerful prayer that focuses our hearts on humility and thankfulness as we approach the throne of God through the Spirit.
We live by the spirit of God, Paul says, and since we do, we should take every step of our life in harmony with the spirit of God. But what does that mean? When we don't know where to start, we might just do nothing, but if that happens, we miss the fact that being a mature follower of Jesus means cultivating sensitivity to God's spirit. To kick off this new series, Pastor Joel helps us understand the Spirit of God by observing how it works in the Old and New Testament—how it guides and empowers and influences people—and explains why it's important for our faith that we start taking steps in the Spirit!

Join us tonight for our Bible Study! We will be digging into what the Scripture teaches about living by faith in God's revelatory Word and walking in the Spirit! Paul writes, "the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned" (1 Cor 2:14).
As Christians, we are told to walk by the Spirit -- yet many of us suffer from an underdeveloped (or sometimes and overdeveloped) understanding of the Holy Spirit and his role in our lives. The fruit of the Spirit is not a list of things to do but a description of what Christian growth looks like. Paul shows us the content, the nature, and the process of Christian growth so that we can participate more fully in what the Spirit is doing in our lives. Application Questions: 1. What is compelling to you about experiencing the fruit of the Spirit in your own life? 2. Christian growth is organic, not mechanical. How can that be an encouragement to you this week? 3. What are some practical ways you can cultivate the fruit of the Spirit in your own life?
The Christian life is life in the Spirit. He empowers us to live the way God has called and created us to live. One of the key ways that's expressed in the New Testament is "walking by the Spirit." What does it mean to walk by the Spirit? How do we do that? In this episode, we look at Romans 8:1-4 and reflect on what it means to walk by the Spirit. Book: Walking in the Spirit, by Ken Berding.
