I grew so much as a spiritual being while putting together this podcast series. Believe it or not, I actually began to question what I was reading while I was studying the bible deeply in order to put out these videos. God let me know that there was more and that I needed to shift my spirituality and shift my circles. It was a very painful and lonely process, but now I am beginning to attract more like minded people with the theology of love, not dogma. I do a deep study of Hebrews Ch1-6. Some points include: 1) digesting the word in order to produce fruit. I read 1 Peter 4 and was very encouraged by it this weekend! I highly recommend reading the full chapter. This whole book has a lot of very practical theology. This book mentions love covering a multitude of sins and led me to talk about meekness. Meekness is very important during trying times, but we must look to scripture for the definition instead of the world's definition. I talk about these prophetic imageries in the OT book of Zechariah. Literally the whole bible can be summarized like this: "Stay connected to the source so that you can produce fruits of the spirit (love joy peace patience kindness goodness thankfulness gentleness self-control) and then spread light and love into the world. Therefore, be the hands and feet of Jesus. But we can't do that work and will be unproductive if we don't stay connected to the source. Sometimes we can get so used to our habits that they rewire our brain. Let's take Anxiety for example. We can get so used to worrying, jumping to conclusions, ect that we do not realize that it is actually changing the structure of our brain! Now we are at a point that is seems we cannot break out of it. No matter what area you struggle with it is extremely difficult to break out of bad habits. Be encouraged and know that you are still loved. Accept the fact that this is going to take a lot of trying and a lot of failing. In turn, this will produce a lot of humility! Be encouraged and know that there is no growth in discomfort! This is a very encouraging verse about persevering in times of trouble. I read this in multiple translations and also include some commentary that I put on it. It also goes along with what my pastor talked about this morning, which is giving God access to EVERY area of your life and not letting the enemy put his foot in the door. I personally have some areas where I have let the enemy chill for far too long! And he can only do that if we welcome him (weather willingly or deceitfully on his part). In this short, 3 chapter book I look at the prophecies of Joel and compare them to things that I am seeing in our generation. There is so much we can learn from this short little book! We see over and over again throughout scripture how God had to knock people on their behind by allowing other nations to attack or sending plagues. However, God's wrath relented consistently every single time when the people repented. God is a jealous God, but he is not full of rage. If he was surely he would not give us so many chances. It is cool to see how merciful God was even in the Old Testament. When we fail to recognize God is usually comes from a long term practice of hard hardheartedness or neglect of spending time with him. I was going to do part two of spiritual gifts, but I am too emotionally drained by what is going on in our world. I did not plan this as you can tell by the awkward fidgeting lol, but I am just sharing my heart. God did give me some verses, but this is something that time will heal and should not make us feel okay right now. It is okay to be upset, angry, and want justice. Christianity is not sunshine and rainbows and I am not going to use God as a drug and try to get him to make me feel better when I am sad. God is good even when I do not feel good. Sometimes traditions can blind us from what scripture actually says on a matter. Everybody has different spiritual gifts and all are valuable to the body of Christ.
