June 21, 2026 Sermon By Thomas Hamilton Standing firm in gospel Freedom Galatians 2:1-14
Jun 14th | Freedom | Galatians 6:6-18In this episode, Pastor Peyton Coker walks through Galatians 4:21–5:6 and asks a powerful question: What does it actually mean to live free?Using the striking image of a hotel room versus a jail cell, Pastor Peyton explores the fundamental difference between freedom and slavery—not the appearance of the room, but where the lock is and who holds the keys. Many people are living trapped behind invisible prison doors of perfectionism, greed, self-righteousness, addiction, shame, people-pleasing, and performance-based Christianity without even realizing it.As Paul closes his argument to the Galatians, the message shifts from doctrine to deeply practical application. Pastor Peyton unpacks three key truths for anyone longing to experience real freedom in Christ:• Cast off your slave mentality• Stand firm in Christ• Check your motivation for obedienceThis episode confronts the crushing weight of trying to earn God's approval through religious performance and reminds believers that Jesus didn't save us merely to behave better—He saved us to enjoy life with Him, walk in freedom, and delight in His presence. If you've ever felt exhausted trying to be “good enough,” trapped in cycles of guilt and perfectionism, or burdened by striving instead of grace, this conversation will point you back to the Gospel: salvation is by faith in Christ alone, and true obedience flows from Spirit-filled love, not fear or shame.Freedom is possible. The prison door is open. Jun 14th | Freedom | Galatians 6:6-18In this episode, Matt Darby concludes our journey through Galatians with a powerful message on the Law of the Harvest from Galatians 6:6-18. Paul reminds us that every thought, habit, and decision is a seed, and the life we experience today is often the harvest of what we've been planting over time.Matt explores the reality that we are always sowing—either to the flesh or to the Spirit. While sin promises life, it ultimately produces decay, brokenness, and distance from God. Yet through the power of the Holy Spirit, we can begin planting seeds that lead to abundant life, lasting joy, spiritual freedom, and a legacy that impacts generations. This message is both a warning and an invitation: don't be deceived by the lies of sin, don't grow weary in doing good, and don't quit before the harvest comes. God sees every act of faithfulness, and nothing sown in the Spirit is ever wasted. Most importantly, Matt brings us back to the center of it all—the cross of Jesus Christ. The cross is where old patterns die, where grace meets us in our failures, and where new life begins. The law of the harvest is real, but so is the grace of God. In Christ, you don't have to stay where you are; you can become a new creation.
Jun 14th | Freedom | Galatians 6:6-15 As we conclude our Freedom series through Galatians, Pastor Daniel Norris unpacks Paul's powerful principle of sowing and reaping in Galatians 6. The battle between the flesh and the Spirit doesn't stay hidden—it always shows up in the harvest of our lives. What we harvest tomorrow is determined by what we're sowing today. In this message, you'll discover:Why every choice is a seed that produces a future harvestHow to identify whether you're sowing to the flesh or the SpiritThe danger of self-centered living and the call to surrender every area of life to JesusWhy spiritual growth often feels slow and what to do when you're tempted to quitThe promise that God brings a harvest in His perfect timingHow the cross—not our performance—is the foundation of true freedomWhether you're discouraged from faithfully doing good, struggling to surrender control, or wondering if your obedience is making a difference, this message is a reminder that the harvest belongs to the faithful, not the flawless. The book of Galatians ends where it began: at the cross of Jesus Christ. Because of His death and resurrection, we aren't called to self-improvement—we are invited into transformation as a new creation in Christ.Don't give up. Don't quit. Keep sowing to the Spirit. The harvest is coming.
June 7th, 2026 | Freedom | Galatians 5:16-25In this message from the “Freedom” series, Pastor Todd Kaunitz walks through Galatians 5:16-25 and unpacks the ongoing battle between the flesh and the Spirit that every believer faces. With honesty and biblical insight, Pastor Todd shares his own struggle with sin and defeat, revealing how God used this passage to lead him into a life of victory and freedom. This teaching reminds us that the Christian life is not the absence of struggle, but a daily surrender to the Holy Spirit. While the flesh pulls us toward sin, the Spirit produces the character of Jesus in us—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, self-control, and more. Pastor Todd explains that victory over sin is not found in trying harder, but in walking closely with Jesus and yielding to the Spirit's power. You'll also hear practical encouragement on how to “walk by the Spirit” through prayer, worship, Scripture, community, and intentional obedience, while learning how to put sin to death before it takes root. If you've ever felt stuck in cycles of temptation, shame, or spiritual exhaustion, this message offers hope: freedom is possible, and it's found on the other side of surrender.
June 7th, 2026 | Freedom | Galatians 5:16-25In this powerful message from the “Freedom” series, Pastor Matt Darby teaches through Galatians 5:16-25 and reveals the daily battle every believer faces between the flesh and the Spirit. While many Christians feel trapped in cycles of defeat, this message reminds us that struggle is not a sign of failure—it's evidence that the Spirit of God is alive and at work within us.Pastor Matt explains that freedom in Christ is not achieved through willpower or trying harder, but through surrendering daily to the Holy Spirit. As believers walk by the Spirit, they experience the transforming work of God producing the character of Jesus in their lives—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, self-control, and more. This teaching also offers practical encouragement for overcoming sin by cultivating intimacy with God, feeding the Spirit instead of the flesh, and responding quickly to the conviction and leading of the Holy Spirit. June 7th, 2026 | Freedom | Galatians 5:16-25In this message from Galatians 5:16-25, Pastor Peyton Coker explores what it truly means to “walk by the Spirit” and experience the freedom Jesus died to give us. Using the powerful image of a treadmill, Pastor Peyton challenges listeners to stop exhausting themselves trying to earn peace, joy, love, and approval through the works of the flesh, and instead learn to walk closely with the Holy Spirit. This teaching unpacks the daily war between the flesh and the Spirit, reminding believers that the struggle with sin is real—but so is the promise of victory. Pastor Peyton explains that the Christian life is not about perfection or striving harder, but about ongoing surrender, repentance, and dependence on the Spirit of God.Through practical application and biblical encouragement, this message walks through three key truths: recognizing the war within us, repenting of fleshly works, and remaining in the Spirit. You'll be reminded that spiritual growth is often gradual, but the fruit of the Spirit is inevitable when we stay connected to Jesus. If you've been stuck in cycles of exhaustion, shame, or spiritual frustration, this message is an invitation to step off the treadmill and experience the freedom, rest, and transforming power found in walking with the Holy Spirit.

May 24th | Freedom | Galatians 5:13-15 & 6:1-5In this message from Galatians 5:13–15 and 6:1–5, Ben Lofton explores what it means to live in the freedom Christ has given us. While believers have been set free from the burden of earning righteousness through performance, Christian freedom is not a license for self-centered living. Instead, we are freed to follow Jesus by willingly taking on His yoke—a life marked by love, humility, and service.Ben unpacks Paul's warning against using freedom as an opportunity for the flesh and shows how true freedom is expressed through serving others, pursuing restoration rather than condemnation, and walking in humble submission rather than prideful comparison. Through practical teaching and personal testimony, this message highlights how gospel-centered community helps believers bear one another's burdens and grow in Christ together.Whether you're wrestling with legalism, isolation, or the challenge of living out your faith in community, this message offers a biblical picture of what it looks like to stand firm in the freedom Christ has secured for His people.
May 31st, 2026 | Freedom | Galatians 5:13-15What comes next after freedom? In this message, Peyton Coker walks through Galatians 5:13–15 and 6:1–5, exploring what it means to live in the freedom Christ purchased for us. Many believers understand what it means to be freed from sin, but struggle to know what comes next. Too often, freedom becomes apathy, isolation, or self-centered living.Paul reminds us that we have been called to something greater. We are freed to serve selflessly, not ourselves. Freed to restore gently, not criticize or condemn. Freed to walk humbly, not compare, compete, or live from pride.Through practical application, powerful illustrations, and a clear gospel focus, Peyton shows how true freedom flourishes in godly community. As we bear one another's burdens, pursue restoration with gentleness, and walk in humility, we reflect the heart of Christ and fulfill the law of love.Whether you're feeling stuck, distracted, or simply wondering what faithful Christian living looks like, this message will encourage you to step into the purpose for which Christ set you free.Join us as we discover what comes next: a life of selfless service, gentle restoration, and humble dependence on Jesus. This message is designed to help the Kilgore campus experience God's manifest presence and His ever-restoring life.

May 24th | Freedom | Galatians 4:21-5:12Pastor Todd Kaunitz continues through Galatians with a powerful message on the freedom found in Christ alone. In Galatians 4–5, Paul confronts the false belief that salvation requires both Jesus and human effort. Through the story of Isaac and Ishmael, we see the difference between living by the flesh and living by the promise of God through faith. This episode explores how believers often drift toward two dangerous ditches: rebellion or religion. Whether it's indulging the desires of the flesh or trusting in legalism and performance, both lead back to slavery. But the Gospel declares a better way—freedom through Jesus and the transforming work of the Holy Spirit.Pastor Todd challenges listeners to stand firm in the Gospel, reject distorted teaching, and realign their lives with the truth of God's grace. If you've ever struggled with shame, striving, compromise, or trying to earn God's approval, this message is a reminder that true freedom is found in Christ alone.“For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.” — Galatians 5:1Do you know JESUS? https://www.nbgilmer.org/do-you-know-jesusNeed PRAYER? https://www.nbgilmer.org/praySupport through GIVING: https://www.nbbctx.org/giving

May 24th | Freedom | Galatians 4:28-5:1In this message from Galatians 4:28–5:1, Pastor Matt Darby unpacks one of the central themes of the Gospel: freedom in Christ. Through Paul's powerful words to the Galatian church, we are reminded that Jesus didn't save us so we could live bound by fear, shame, performance, or religion—He set us free. This sermon explores the contrast between slavery and sonship, effort and promise, religion and grace. Using the story of Sarah and Hagar, Pastor Matt shows how many believers still struggle with a “slave mentality,” trying to earn what God has already given through Jesus. You'll be encouraged to:• Know your identity as a child of promise• Recognize the conflict that comes with following Christ• Reject performance-based Christianity• Stand firm in the freedom Jesus purchased for youFreedom is not something you achieve—it's something Christ has already secured. May 17th | Freedom | Galatians 4:1–20In Galatians 4:1–20, Pastor Peyton Coker walks through one of the most important identity questions every person must answer: Are you living like a slave or a son? Many people carry hidden burdens while pretending everything is fine — striving for approval, battling anxiety, carrying father wounds, chasing attention, or hiding addictions no one else sees. Paul reminds the Galatian church that Jesus did not come to place people into heavier religious bondage, but to bring true freedom through adoption into God's family. This message explores the difference between dead religion and genuine relationship with God. Through Christ, believers are no longer slaves trying to earn acceptance, but sons and daughters invited into intimacy, inheritance, and life in the Spirit. Pastor Peyton challenges listeners to examine where legalism, performance, or spiritual confusion may still be creating chains, while pointing to the freedom found in being fully known and fully loved by the Father. If you've been exhausted trying to perform, confused about where you stand with God, or longing for something deeper than religion, this sermon is an invitation to experience the restoring life and manifest presence of God.Do you know JESUS? https://www.nbgilmer.org/do-you-know-jesusNeed PRAYER? https://www.nbgilmer.org/praySupport through GIVING: https://www.nbbctx.org/giving
May 17th | Freedom | Galatians 4:1–7In this powerful message from Galatians 4:1–7, Pastor Matt Darby unpacks the life-changing truth of the Gospel: through Jesus Christ, we are no longer slaves — we are sons and daughters of God.The churches in Galatia were struggling to stay rooted in grace alone, faith alone, and Christ alone. Like many believers today, they were tempted to add religious performance, morality, and self-effort to the finished work of Jesus. Paul's message calls them — and us — back to freedom.Pastor Matt explores the two spiritual identities every person lives under: slavery or sonship. He reveals how the Gospel doesn't simply improve behavior; it completely transforms identity. Through the adoption made possible by Jesus' death and resurrection, God brings us out of fear, shame, striving, and spiritual bondage into the security of His family. This message dives into:• The reality of spiritual slavery• Why behavior always flows from identity• The power of adoption through Christ• What it means to cry out “Abba, Father”• How the Holy Spirit confirms our identity as children of God• The difference between living for approval and living from acceptanceIf you've ever struggled with insecurity, shame, striving, or feeling like you have to earn God's love, this message is an invitation to walk in the freedom Jesus purchased for you.You are not tolerated by God — you are loved. FREEDOM | Becoming CHRIST (Week 4)What does it really mean to live free?In week four of our Becoming CHRIST series, we explore the powerful truth that freedom in Jesus isn't about doing whatever we want—it's about becoming who we were created to be. Through Paul's words, we see that true freedom is found not in self-reliance, but in surrender, dependence, and transformation through Christ.

Send a textIt seems that in the Apostle Paul's day, some Jews, particularly a contingent based out of Jerusalem, followed him from newly established church to church and told the people there that in order to be truly acceptable to God, you also had to keep the Jewish religious rituals, called ‘The Law'. Now, in truth, a version of the same message still circulates today. But those who know the Lord, and who study His Word, understand that it says something very different. We know that being forgiven and being declared righteous before God is by faith alone, aside from any religious obligations that people try to put on you. And yet… the Mosaic law is still there; we can still see it in the Old Testament. And its very presence raises a question that has troubled believers for centuries: And that's not an unimportant question. If you've ever studied the Bible seriously, you know it's a real issue. However, God gave us one book in the New Testament whose main purpose is to answer that question in detail and address every possible implication that arises out of that fact: The book of Galatians….RISE RADIOEach week we discuss some of the most important issues we face in our society today.Listen on: Apple Podcasts SpotifySupport the showFollow and support me on Patreon. In Galatians 5:13–15, Paul reminds believers that Christian freedom isn't a license for self-indulgence but a calling to love. Freedom from the burden of the law and the condemnation of sin, we're not released into selfish living but Spirit-empowered service. True freedom fulfills the righteousness the law demanded but could never produce! When we walk in love, we reflect the heart of God.
