Welcome to the mightiest podcast about comic books in the 9 realms. We cover everything here. Stories, animation, live-action movies. If it has anything to do with comic books, you can find it here.
Super CyGuy and Hendrick discuss a handful of characters, who have had multiple people take up the mantle. From Robin to Ghost Rider and a few others
In today's episode, Super CyGuy and Hendrick are talking about characters that a lot of their fans, really missed the point on them. From Punisher and Homelander, to the relationship of Joker and Harley Quinn.
In this episode, Super CyGuy and Hendrick discuss the recent outrage over the X-Men franchise and how they've gone "woke". Or in other terms, talk about how people complaining about it, have never paid attention to the actual stories within the X-Men
Joining Super CyGuy on this episode, is longtime co-host Tombstone da Deadman, and friends of the show SPJ, and Hendrik. And here we discuss our Mount Rushmore's of comic characters. All of us, for the most part, took less conventional characters, and at one point, 3 of us made the same choice for slightly different (but mostly overlapping) reasons.
On todays episode, Super CyGuy and friend of the show, Hendrik (in his first guest host spot, and first time recording a podcast) go over and review two separate top ten lists. Top 10 Greatest Superheroes, and Top 10 Best Supervillains. And boy were there choices made by the people making these lists.
On todays episode, Super CyGuy discusses his general thoughts on a variety of DC and Marvel comic book movies and shows that came out in 2022. This includes, the incredibly memeable, Morbius, which is 100% the best live action Morbius movie we have.
On todays episode of Metas & Mutants, Super CyGuy and SPJ discuss their thoughts on Black Adam, the state of the DCEU, and how James Gunn has the difficult, but enviable job, of rebooting it into what he has called the DCU.
On todays episode of Metas & Mutants, Super CyGuy reviews his experience
This episode is a little different from our usual format. As many of you may know, Deeper Dive is a video essay series hosted by friend of the show SPJ. We did a special mash-up where SPJ discusses Thor: Love and Thunder with Tombstone and Super CyGuy in two separate one on one interviews.
It's been a while, but we got a special episode of Metas and Mutants today. Super CyGuy is with special guest co-host, and friend of the show, SPJ. And today, we discuss our thoughts on Marvel's Phase 4, both the Disney+ Shows and the new movies, our favourites, our least favourite, and what we hope for the upcoming phases. And in true fashion, there are plenty of off-topic tangents.
No sugarcoating this one folks. Wasn't planning to do a quick episode about this, but well, the internet happened. So here we are. Ladies, Gentlemen, Nerds, Geeks, and everyone else I missed. Jane Foster was Thor in the comics, and looks like she's also Thor in the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder movie. If you hate the idea of "Lady Thor" (or as she is properly known, The Mighty Thor, Goddess of Thunder) because "Thor is a MAN/It's Thor OdinSON, not OdinDaughter" or whatever other bullshit superficial reason, kindly go fuck yourself with a sideways pineapple.
In this episode, Super CyGuy goes over 6 of the runs he is currently reading, and shouts out 2 other runs he fell off of, but means to get back to reading.
In this episode of Meta's and Mutants, Super CyGuy does a character analysis of who Moon Knight is, in anticipation of the Disney+ series coming up
This episode is heavily impromptu. Tombstone and Super CyGuy talk a bit about wrestling (tied into a news article), but heavily talk about how Wolverine has killed his kids, and how the Storm and Black Panther relationship seemed forced. We also talk about Wolverine vs Cyclops as tacticians, and how in another time, Storm and Thor had a daughter.
Tombstone Da Deadman is BACK, and we're here to just catch up a little bit, and let you all know what's going on with us.
Once again, we have Ryan from Salmon Industries YYC as a guest on our podcast. In todays episode, we talk about the Rise of the Midnight Sons story arc from the 90's, and other iterations of the Midnight Sons team since then. Feel Free to check out Salmon Industries YYC on Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok. https://salmonindustriesyyc.ca/
A different segment here, but Super CyGuy has a friend on the show, to talk a bit about his business, Salmon Industries YYC. While learning about the business, we also learn what the founder's favourite Superheroes are, his favourite Superhero Movies, and favourite 90's Superhero cartoon. There will be an upcoming collaboration between Salmon Industries YYC, and Metas & Mutants coming out in the future.
Are you interested in getting into comics? Were you interested in comics a long time ago, and wanting to get back in? Are you just looking for general advice on where to start a new series? You've come to the right place, and picked the right episode. Super CyGuy gives his best general advice for where or how to get into comics (or new runs).
Yes, yes, I know. Screen Rant. So you KNOW it's going to be bad. Which is exactly why I had to do it. We cover the top 10 greatest comic heroes and villains, and the lists... are certainly something. Let us know if you agree or disagree with these lists yourself.
To me my X-Men! Super CyGuy here with some news about the future of Metas & Mutants. Once we cover that, and some news, it's time for a recap and review of Marvel's recent "Way of X" 5 issue series, culminating in the new "X-Men: Onslaught Revelations" one-shot.
In this episode, Tombstone is back and we discuss the things about certain characters that don't make sense to us.
For this episode, Tombstone was unfortunately away doing work for the Big G (Galactus). So we have Super CyGuy discussing his early thoughts on the Marvel's Avengers games newest expansion, the War for Wakanda.
The final episode in this series where we explore the fact that there has always been politics in comic books.
Part Two of our mini series about politics in comic books
The title speaks for itself. So many obviously new comic book readers have been online asserting that comic books aren't the place for politics and political agendas. Metas & Mutants suggest that they read more older comics. They either missed it or never read it in the first place. But we are here to help so in this mini series we discuss all the ways politics have been used in comics over the years. From the motivation of the creators of the characters, to the story arcs themselves.
Now where else are you gonna go to get this thorough of a review about the Loki series season one? Of course you're going to come to your friendly neighborhood Metas & Mutants!
The bottom line is that each comic book company clone each other's characters at times. In this episode we discuss some of the more popular clones and a few obscure ones.
Finally, in a short time, Kevin Feige is running us our Widow. So of course we are going to talk about the Black Widow in comics and film. #RespectBlackWidow
So let me make this clear. So far, Loki is my favorite series from this MCU Disney+ era. In this episode Super Cyguy and I discuss the first two episodes as well as give a few predictions about where we think the show is going from a narrative standpoint.
We have somehow managed to reach 52 episodes! And without running from the show screaming! Quite an accomplishment. In this anniversary episode we talk about our favorite topics as well as the future of the show!
There is a bunch of news buzzing around the comic book/movie/tv show genre and in this episode we navigate through a lot of it.
We all love comic book superheroes. They hare the face of nobility and honor. However, they aren't without flaws. In this episode we discuss certain characters that, at times, betray the things he stands for. Also we discuss the fluctuating power levels of certain heroes. And not just over the years. In some cases, from issue to issue. Spoiler alert...Tombstone thinks it sucks
Comic book lore is full of legendary weapons. We did a show on this before but could hardly cover them all. So we will do these sort of shows every so often.
The title speaks for itself. Today Super Cyguy and Tombstone talk about superhero sidekicks, their origins and some really obscure ones.
Yup. Felt so nice we had to do it twice. In this episode we stretch our 12th Level comic book intellects again and mine Quora for questions that only we can answer. Well, that's cap...but still!! Enjoy
On this episode, SuperCyguy and Tombstone use their vast 12th level intellects to answer random comic book questions from Quora
Warning!!! There will be spoilers in this episode as we review the entire season of Falcon and The Winter Soldier. So if you decided to binge it all after all the episodes dropped, you may want to finish watching it and then come back to this episode.
In this episode we talk about our favorite comic book mini-series and why you should be reading them.
The comic book multiverse has no shortage of geniuses and technopaths. So in this episode Super CyGuy and Tombstone talk about a few of them and some of their greatest feats
We love comic book movies on the Metas & Mutants show. But just like everything else, they are not perfect. In this episode, we talk about the things we think were poor creative choices made by some moviemakers.
We did one for Marvel. So now it's DC Comics turn. In this episode, we discuss characters that aren't as popular as the more mainstream characters. But some of them are just as interesting.
In this episode, we talk about some of our favorite comic book fan films. Go support the ones we bring up in the show. And if you know of some we haven't heard of, drop us a message on our official Meta And Mutants Facebook page.
Sadly, Wandavision is over. But we aren't done with it yet. In this episode we talk about the impact of the show and how it sets up the MCU for the future. Spoiler alert...it was Agatha all along.
