Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universesIt would appear as though Ryan Reynold's social media stunt we discussed last week is having the intended effect as a few of our favorite trades can't seem to come to a consensus. First, in the August 15 edition of Heat Vision, The Hollywood Reporter's exclusive column for all things comics, horror and sci-fi, Borys Kitt claimed that their sources confirmed Deadpool's inclusion in Avengers: Doomsday. However, later that day Deadline refuted the speculation by citing their own sources who said the actor has not been seen on the London set and is not intended to appear in either upcoming Avengers film. In less nebulous Doomsday talk, Nightcrawler actor Alan Cumming described his experience returning to the role as healing, after a terrible experience on 2003's X2. It's a big week for DC Studios with Superman hitting Video-On-Demand last Friday and Peacemaker Season 2 premiering this Thursday. While on the red carpet for the show's debut in New York, DC Studios head and Peacemaker's showrunner James Gunn defended Superman's quick availability for home viewing after just 35 days in theaters, by sharing how the film impacts the series. “It's a big part, definitely Superman leads directly into Peacemaker,” said Gunn, while speaking with The Hollywood Reporter. “Superman leads into this show and then we have the setting up of all of the rest of the DCU in this season of Peacemaker, it's incredibly important,” he continued. Gunn also teased the future for Superman on the big screen, saying, “I've already finished the treatment for the next story in what I'll call the ‘Superman Saga.' The treatment is done, which means a very, very worked-out treatment. I'm working on that and hopefully going into production on that not too far away from today.”Back to the Wasteland we go, as Amazon's marketing for Fallout Season 2 has begun in preparation for its December 17 premiere, with a full-court press that includes first look images and a trailer that was released earlier today. The images showcase returning characters played by Ella Purnell, Walton Goggins, Moises Arias, Aaron Moten and Kyle McLachlan, while the two minute 42-second trailer gave us our first glimpse at Justin Theroux's enigmatic Mr. House and McCauley Caulkin in an undisclosed role, which were of course accompanied, yet again, by the crooning stylings of The Ink Spots. In an interview with Collider, Marvel Zombies director Bryan Andrews confirmed that the series has moved its release date up to September 24th, and all episodes of the series will be available to stream at once. He also confirmed that the four episodes will be rated TV-MA.At a recent London fan event Sir Ian McKellen claimed Frodo and Gandalf will appear in Andy Serkis' upcoming The Hunt for Gollum film without specifying whether he and Elijah Wood would reprise their iconic roles.NBCUniversal announced that it has acquired all rights, excluding publishing, to Robert Ludlum's popular Jason Bourne and Treadstone book series.Weapons took the number one spot at the box office again in its second weekend with a drop of only 43%, bringing its worldwide total to nearly $150 million dollars. Nobody 2 generated around $15 million dollars worldwide in its opening weekend on a $25 million dollar budget.Netflix has dropped a trailer for the second half of season 2 of Wednesday, which will stream on September 3rd.Stranger Things creators The Duffer Brothers are in talks for a massive overall deal with Paramount that includes both streaming and features with a big theatrical component, something the pair have not been able to get at their current home of more than a decade, Netflix.Original Scary Movie actresses Regina Hall and Anna Faris are coming back as Brenda and Cindy, respectively, for the Wayans Brothers' restart of the comedy franchise, which is eyeing a 2026 release.
Superman Reaction, Recap, Commentary, Analysis, Spoiler Review!! Andrew Gordon (Cinepals) & Tara Erickson react to Superman (2025), the first chapter in James Gunn's DCU reboot and the opening of the Superman Saga, now available on digital! After saying goodbye to Zack Snyder's Justice League (Henry Cavill in Man Of Steel & Batman V Superman) it's now times for David Corenswet (Pearl, The Politician) dons the cape as Clark Kent/Superman in a heartfelt and action-packed reimagining of the Man of Steel, alongside Rachel Brosnahan (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, House of Cards) as Lois Lane. The film blends classic Superman optimism with modern storytelling, introducing a balanced life between heroics and Clark's daily world in Metropolis. Co-starring Nicholas Hoult (Mad Max: Fury Road, Renfield) as a brilliant and manipulative Lex Luthor, Skyler Gisondo (The Righteous Gemstones, Booksmart) as Jimmy Olsen, and Isabela Merced (Dora and the Lost City of Gold, Rosaline) as Hawkgirl, with Edi Gathegi (X-Men: First Class) as Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion (The Rookie, Firefly) as Guy Gardner's Green Lantern, and Anthony Carrigan (Barry, Gotham) as Metamorpho. Featuring breathtaking action sequences, heartfelt Daily Planet banter, and the promise of a bigger connected DC Universe, Superman sets the stage for the Superman Saga's next chapter. In this reaction we break down the standout moments, hidden DCU easter eggs, and the film's balance of hope, humor, and heroism. It's a different kind of show this week as Darren and Adam discuss the recently released Superman film. The movie, directed by James Gunn, stars David Corenswet as Superman. The discussion includes a look at box office results and factors contributing to them, criticism of art and the various things we like and dislike about the film. Though it isn't a particularly sciencey topic, we can't help but apply our own brand of critical thinking to some aspects of the film. The film is currently in theatres worldwide and available to purchase digitally. It's recommended that you watch it before listening to this episode as there are plenty of spoilers, if you care about that kind of thing.
[School of Movies 2025] This film began life before James Gunn was abruptly fired overnight, by Marvel. It languished for years through the triumph of Endgame, then the Pandemic, and Gunn's hiring by DC to direct their Suicide Squad sequel. The man who came back to pick up the script had been changed, and while Superman (2025) shows the sheer optimistic joy he's capable of imbuing his projects with, this farewell to the Guardians is a dark, furious requiem of betrayal, loss, bitter conflict and ultimately redemption. In choosing to make it all about Rocket Raccoon, the secret weapon of the MCU was taken out of the picture. He is attacked by newcomer Adam Warlock on Knowhere home turf, in a failed act of corporate reclamation. His killswitch is triggered, leaving him in a coma and it is up to the Guardians to investigate the Doctor Moreau-inspired High Evolutionary, and find out how to bring Rocket back. This leaves him absent for much of the present-day movie, stuck reliving his tragic past, and the earliest friends he made. These tragic events would twist his future actions into those of anger and neurotic rejection of even his closest companions. It is unlike any other MCU film, deeply personal and imbued with such vociferous anger that it actually becomes a mess, half hanging onto what was originally intended, half channelling the mixed, spiking emotions of going back to deal with your monster, saying goodbye to your dear friends and moving on to other and better things. The world is better for the confluence of events that led us to getting our new Superman and a brighter future of the DC Universe, but it was Gunn who took the damage, and this film exemplifies that. Next Week: The Marvels

In this episode of our Gloria Grahame Acteurist Oeuvre-view episode, our protagonist is rudely shoved into the background of the movies, barely appearing in Josef von Sternberg's Macao (1950) (she would have liked to have appeared in it even less) and playing a rote schemer in David Miller's Sudden Fear (1952). The movies themselves don't make up for her under-use, despite the amiable pairing of Robert Mitchum and Jane Russell in the former and the great Joan Crawford sobbing her way to an Oscar nomination in the latter. We do our best to articulate what went wrong for us, before turning our attention to James Gunn's Superman (2025) in our Fear and Moviegoing in Toronto segment. #superman2025 #jamesgunn #dcuniverse There was a lot riding on James Gunn's first swing at Superman. It's the first major motion picture in his DC Universe and would mark a dramatic change of tone from Zack Snyder's last projects with everyone's favorite Kryptonian. Fortunately for all involved, it was a big hit at the box office --- but did it put wind in our capes? As two nerds for movies, comics, and comic book movies, you'll want to stick around and share your thoughts on not just this movie, but what it hints at for the future of this new chapter for DC Comics on the silver screen. A native of Wroclaw, Poland, Martin started his career as an international sportswriter, broadcaster and author, spending two decades covering NBA games and publishing two acclaimed books on basketball. It was during this time that he met the late Kobe Bryant, who encouraged him to follow his passion for performance. Inspired by that advice, and an obsession with classic films, James Bond thrillers, and the work of Robert De Niro, Martin began training as an actor in his 30s, studying intensively at the Stella Adler Theater and the Beverly Hills Playhouse. He officially made the leap to full-time acting in his early 40s and quickly built an impressive resume, appearing in hit series like Stranger Things (Netflix), The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (Amazon), Better Call Saul (AMC), and Young Sheldon (CBS). His film credits include James Gunn's reboot of Superman, Amsterdam, The Gray Man, The Hunt, and Red Notice, where he played a prison tower sharpshooter. He's also recognized for his villainous turn as Lt. Nikolai Zybulski in TNT's post-apocalyptic series The Last Ship. In addition to his on-camera work, Martin does significant voice work for computer and video games, most notably as fan-favorite “Krueger” in the Call of Duty video game franchise. A lifelong rock music fan, he once fronted a heavy metal band in Poland called Army of Darkness. He's also an avid art collector, with a particular interest in South American contemporary art and 18th-century English portraiture. want to watch: YouTube Meisterkhan Pod (Please Subscribe)
