Capes erinnert direkt an XCOM oder Marvels Midnight Suns, vielleicht sogar eher zweiteres, denn wir haben hier auch Superhelden als Kämpfer. Wir wissen also direkt, woran wir sind. Das ganzer Spiel ist umhüllt von einer guten Story rund um einen Konzern, der die Stadt regiert und alle Superhelden, genannt "Capes" ausschalten will. Das möchten wir verhindern und so sammeln wir nach und nach alle möglichen Superhelden in unser Team ein, um sie fortan auch zu spielen. In den Taktik-Kämpfen im XCOM-Stil können wir dann ihre unterschiedlichen Fähigkeiten miteinander kombinieren, was sich im Grunde auch interessant anfühlt. Leider sind manche Missionen echt schwer gestaltet, wenn auf einmal aus dem nichts neue Gegner ohne Vorankündigung spawnen, man aber gerade so die letzten überlebt hat und dies auch so geplant hatte. Ja, wir können Missionen wiederholen, und das müssen wir auch oft, allein schon, um die Nebenziele zu schaffen, welche wiederum dann Level-Punkte für neue Fähigkeiten geben. Das macht an sich ja Spaß, nur sind die Level leider relativ eintönig gestaltet. Basisbau fehlt hier im Vergleich auch. Dennoch muss ich sagen, dass das Gameplay mir durchaus Spaß gemacht hat, gerade weil wir immer neue Helden freischalten und auch neue Fähigkeiten. Vor jeder Mission galt es zu überlegen, welche Helden wir mitnehmen und bei einer Niederlage probiert man es dann nochmal mit einer anderen Kombi aus. Capes ist also ein durchaus solides Spiel, was Potenzial im Leveldesign liegen lässt.

Hello there everybody! Welcome back to another exciting episode of Trophy Talk. This is the final episode for 2023, and what a year it has been! This time around the crew is back to talk about what games we've been playing over the past month or so. Just like the earlier parts of the year, the last few months have seen so many great releases that it's been tough to keep up. So just what have the guys been up to recently in the realm of PlayStation? Well it turns out that there's quite a bit of overlap between them. Slugger, Darryl, and Colin both give there thoughts on trophy hunting in Spiderman 2, and in God of War: Ragnarok's free DLC, Valhalla. On top of that Slugger has been playing Marvel's Midnight Suns, Tchia, and a few others. Darryl has finally gone back and platinumed God of War: Ragnarok, and Colin digs deep into his backlog to discover the gem that is Shadow of the Colossus. In addition to all of that we have some platinum shout outs, pulled from our great community over on Discord. We have some interesting Patreon submitted questions which cause us to try and asses the strength of various streaming services we subscribe to, and we also finally tease the new Discord trophy hunting game, which will be launching on February 1st. My guest today is the American designer of some of the finest strategy video games yet made. After graduating from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in Computer Science in 2000, he accepted a job to become a business consultant. Before he arrived for work, however, he saw an advertisement for position at Fireaxis, the development studio founded by the legendary designer, Sid Meier, which he successfully applied to.Having worked as a programmer on Civilization III and IV, in 2012 he relaunched the cult classic strategy series X-COM, a chess-like game in which players direct a squad of troops in skirmishes against alien invaders. More recently he steered the creation of Marvel's Midnight Suns, one of the best games of 2022, that carried the lessons learned in X-Com into Marvel universe.Earlier this year he announced his departure from Fireaxis, the company where he worked for more than 20 years. This year has seen some excellent revivals of old games on new hardware, so let's kick off awards season a little early and take a look at our five favorite remasters and remakes of 2022, after which we'll get into The Callisto Protocol, Marvel's Midnight Suns, Need for Speed Unbound, Microsoft's acquisition moves, and movie games that stuck out in your head as ignoring the movies' plots.
