It's Marvel Monday and the Avengers face their ultimate challenge! ABOUT AVENGERS: ENDGAME After the devastating events of Avengers: Infinity War (2018), the universe is in ruins. With the help of remaining allies, the Avengers assemble once more in order to reverse Thanos' actions and restore balance to the universe. AIR DATE & NETWORK FOR AVENGERS: ENDGAME 2019 | Theatrical Release CAST & CREW OF AVENGERS: ENDGAME Directors: Anthony Russo, Joe Russo Writers: Christopher Markus, Stephen McFeely, Stan Lee Cast: Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man Chris Evans as Steve Rogers/Captain America Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/The Hulk Chris Hemsworth as Thor Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton/Hawkeye Don Cheadle as James Rhodes/War Machine Paul Rudd as Scott Lang/Ant-Man Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange Chadwick Boseman as T'Challa/Black Panther Brie Larson as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man Karen Gillan as Nebula Zoe Saldaña as Gamora Evangeline Lilly as Hope Van Dyne/The Wasp Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch BRAN'S MOVIE SYNOPSIS The movie kicks off by showing us what Hawkeye was doing during Infinity War: teaching his daughter to shoot bow and arrows. Suddenly, his wife and kids turn to dust and he has no idea why. 23 days later, Tony Stark & Nebula are stuck in space together. She's helping him heal. They're about to run out of oxygen when Captain Marvel shows up to save them. She brings them back to Earth where they're reunited with Captain America, Hulk, Thor, Rhodey & Rocket. The happy reunion doesn't last long. Tony does one of his famous freak outs, saying things he will most certainly regret. Captain Marvel gets the rundown & decides she's going to go kill Thanos herself. Everyone is like this witch shows up out of nowhere and now wants to be the hero, but Thor likes her and says we should go. So they track Thanos down. He's like oh hi. I destroyed the stones. My bad. So Thor cuts his head off. Fast forward 5 years and Scott randomly pops out of the quantum realm machine, very confused. So he goes to talk to the Avengers about his experience. He tells Cap & Natasha about how for him, the 5 years was only 5 minutes. Maybe there's some way to use the quantum realm to go back in time and stop Thanos. Only one guy is smart enough to help - Tony. But now Tony has a daughter & he's not interested in helping. But Tony can't forget about it. He pokes around and figures out how it could work. Scott, Cap, and Natasha turn to the next smartest guy they know - Bruce. He agrees to help and they do some experiments but nothing overly helpful. Tony shows up with a time traveling device and says it's time to get the band back together. They do some testing and find out they can go to the past and bring something back without changing anything. So they have a plan - team up and go get the stones and bring them to the present which would prevent Thanos from being able to do his thing. Banner, Lang, Rogers, and Stark travel back to New York during Loki's 2012 invasion. At the Sanctum Sanctorum, Banner persuades the Ancient One to hand over the Time Stone by promising that all of the Infinity Stones will eventually be returned to their rightful places in time. Plus, Doctor Strange gave it up willingly in his time which is good enough for the Ancient One. Meanwhile, at Stark Tower, Rogers successfully recovers the Mind Stone from Hydra agents posing as S.H.I.E.L.D. operatives. However, Stark and Lang's plan to steal the Space Stone goes wrong, allowing Loki to escape with it. To recover from the setback, Rogers and Stark travel further back to 1970, where Stark obtains an earlier version of the Space Stone and unexpectedly gets the chance to speak with his father. Rogers steals additional Pym Particles needed for their return trip and catches a glimpse of his lost love, Peggy Carter. Meanwhile, Thor and Rocket journey to Asgard in 2013. Rocket extracts the Reality Stone from Jane Foster, while Thor reunites with his mother, Frigga, who snaps him out of his funk and gets his swag and his hammer back. In 2014, Nebula and Rhodey travel to Morag and secure the Power Stone before Peter Quill can retrieve it. Hawkeye and Black Widow head to Vormir, where Red Skull explains that the Soul Stone can only be obtained through the sacrifice of someone you love. Romanoff gives her life so Barton can claim the Stone. As Rhodes and Nebula prepare to return to the present, Nebula's cybernetic implants connect with those of her past self. This allows the 2014 version of Thanos to learn about his future defeat and the Avengers' plan to reverse it. Thanos captures Nebula and sends her 2014 counterpart into the future to infiltrate the Avengers and pave the way for his arrival. So they all return back in the present with the stones, sans Natasha. They put the stones on an iron glove and Bruce agrees that he's probably the best dude for the job. He snaps and immediately collapses. Hawkeye immediately gets a phone call from his wife. It worked!!! But the happiness doesn't last long because 2014 Gamora used the Time Machine to get 2014 Thanos to show up and shoot the Avengers compound up big time. He's like thanks for getting all of the stones together for me. It's giant fight time, folks. And it's not looking great for the Avengers despite the fact that Thor's hammer saw Cap as worthy enough to use it. But just when it's looking bleak, Doctor Strange returns by opening portals for the rest of the Avengers to show up and join the battle. Avengers assemble and IT'S AWESOME! It's a tough battle and Scott is busy getting his van Time Machine up and running since Thanos destroyed the other one so that they can return the stones. Captain Marvel shows up last minute and it's looking like they might do it but Thanos makes the van explode. Thanos gets the gauntlet back but Captain Marvel stops him from snapping his fingers. He's able to free himself. It's looking like a lost cause but Tony looks over at Strange who holds up 1 finger, showing Tony that this is the 1 in 14 million chances they win. Tony is able to get the stones and snap his fingers and make Thanos and his baddies disappear. But unfortunately the blast was too much for Tony and he dies. At Tony's funeral, all the Avengers show up to show their respects. They create a new Time Machine and Captain America goes to return all of the stones to their proper time. But he doesn't return to present day. Well, he does but he's old. He decided to stay in 1970 and grow old with Peggy Carter. Steve gives Sam his shield. We have a new Captain America now. It's Marvel Monday and we're diving into the realm of Asgard! ABOUT THOR: THE DARK WORLD When the Dark Elves attempt to plunge the universe into darkness, Thor must embark on a perilous and personal journey that will reunite him with doctor Jane Foster. AIR DATE & NETWORK FOR THOR: THE DARK WORLD October 9, 2013 | Theatrical Release CAST & CREW OF THOR: THE DARK WORLD Chris Hemsworth as Thor Natalie Portman as Jane Foster Tom Hiddleston as Loki Anthony Hopkins as Odin BRAN'S MOVIE SYNOPSIS Loki is in troubleeeee. Daddy Odin is mad at him. Loki is like I just wanted to rule Earth as a benevolent god. What's the big deal? Odin tells him he should have him killed but instead, he'll just be imprisoned. Thor is doing Thor stuff, fighting off rock monsters and stuff with his buddies. When he gets back to Asgard, Odin tells him the time has come for him to get over Jane Foster and become king. Speaking of Jane Foster, she's in London, trying to eat with a dude but she can't stop thinking about Thor. Darcy shows up to tell her that the numbers and graphs and stuff are going nuts! They head to where the readings are happening and it takes them to an abandoned warehouse where there seems to be some sort of weird teleportation portal that is opening and closing at random. She gets sucked into the portal. While this is happening, Thor is talking to Idris Elba who is supposed to be keeping an eye on her and he's like oh weird, I actually can't see her right now. So he goes to Earth to check on her. By the time he gets there, she's now returned back to Earth. She's shocked to find out that it's been 5 hours. She sees Thor and smacks him a couple times for taking so long. The cops show up and try to arrest her for trespassing. When he touches her, this like red light radiates from her and sends them flying. Realizing that something is going on with her, Thor grabs her and transports them to Asgard to do some tests. Odin sees what's going on with her and is like oh yea I know what's up. That's dark elf-ish. It's called the Aether. And it's bad. Thor explains, every 5000 years, the 9 realms align and it causes the portals between these realms to get a bit wonky. So that's how she fell through that portal. But when she interacted with the Aether, she awakened Malekith - a dark elf who is up to no good. They attack Asgard and kill Thor's mom, Frigga, in the process of protecting Jane from them. Thor immediately wants revenge but Odin tells him to wait - they'll be back because we still have the Aether. Thor doesn't want to wait. So he asks Loki to help. Luckily, he knows about a secret portal to Svartalfheim, where they will use Jane to lure and confront Malekith, away from Asgard. In return, Thor promises Loki vengeance on Malekith for killing their mother. While in transport, Thor and Loki have a heart to heart. They yell at each other. They love each other. Classic brother stuff. There, Loki tricks Malekith into drawing the Aether out of Jane, but Thor's attempt to destroy the exposed substance fails. Malekith merges with the Aether and leaves in his ship. Loki is real hurt, on the verge of death. Thor is like I'll tell Dad you didn't suck after all. Afterwards, Thor and Jane discover another portal in a nearby cave and reunite in London with Darcy and Jane's mentor Dr. Erik Selvig who was kinda going crazy but he's fine. Jane knows about Malekith's plan to destroy the universe. Thor starts going through all these portals when Malekith ends up on Earth. Thor returns just in time to help transport Malekith away from Earth where he is crushed by his own ship that was also being transported at the same time. Thor returns to Asgard, where he declines Odin's offer to take the throne and tells Odin of Loki's sacrifice. As he leaves, Odin's form transforms to that of a grinning Loki. UH OHHHHHHH. It's time for a new Marvel Monday episode with the 2011 Thor.ABOUT THORThe powerful but arrogant god Thor is cast out of Asgard to live amongst humans in Midgard (Earth), where he soon becomes one of their finest defenders.AIR DATE & NETWORK FOR THORMay 6, 2011 | TheatersCAST & CREW OF THORChris Hemsworth as Thor Anthony Hopkins as Odin Natalie Portman as Jane Foster Tom Hiddleston as Loki Stellan Skarsgård as Erik Selvig Kat Dennings as Darcy Lewis Clark Gregg as Agent CoulsonBRAN'S THOR SYNOPSISThree scientists — Jane Foster, Erik Selvig, and Darcy Lewis — are driving a van through the desert when they witness a lightning storm forming. Jane isn't surprised, though, because she believes she can predict the appearance of wormholes. Suddenly, the van hits a man. He's hot. And breathing. We're then given some historical context. In 965 AD, the Frost Giants invaded Earth in Norway, using the Tesseract in hopes of taking over the planet. Luckily, the Asgardians showed up, forced the Frost Giants to retreat, and took the Tesseract with them.We learn that Odin is telling this story to his two sons — one blond, one dark-haired — explaining that both are worthy, but only one can be king. A classic way to pit two brothers against each other. That always ends well!Flash forward to present day: Asgard is pumped because blond-headed Thor is about to be crowned king. And wouldn't you know it — Loki is insanely jealous. Before Thor can be crowned, the Frost Giants break into the vault that houses the Casket of Ancient Winters. Thor loses it. He flips a giant table and demands retaliation. Odin says no and reminds him that he is not king yet.Thor says “heard that” and immediately travels through a portal to confront the Frost Giants himself. A fight breaks out. Loki discovers that the Frost Giants can't harm him — his skin even turns blue like theirs. Odin shows up, stops the battle, apologizes to the Frost Giant king, and brings everyone home.Odin is furious with Thor. He strips him of his powers and banishes him to Earth, where he crash-lands in the desert and gets hit by a car — bringing us back to the beginning.Thor wakes up acting completely unhinged (by Earth standards), so the locals tase him and take him to the hospital. He escapes, only for Jane to hit him with her car again. They start spending time together and discover a mysterious “satellite crash.” Thor immediately knows it's his hammer.Unfortunately, the area is now under government control. Thor still tries to retrieve the hammer, but fails — he can't lift it.Back in Asgard, Thor's friends suspect Loki has been up to no good. Loki confronts Odin and learns the truth: he isn't Asgardian at all, but a Frost Giant taken as a baby and raised by Odin. Loki does not take this well, yells at Odin, and the stress sends Odin into a deep magical sleep. Loki is now acting king.Loki travels to Earth and lies to Thor, claiming Odin is dead and Thor can never return to Asgard. Thor tells Jane the truth about who he is — and she handles it shockingly well.We then learn it was Loki who secretly let the Frost Giants into Asgard earlier, setting everything in motion. Loki makes a deal with them: they can return to Asgard to kill Odin and reclaim the Casket, and in return they'll leave peacefully.Loki sends the Destroyer — a giant murder robot — to Earth to kill Thor. Thor helps evacuate civilians and then confronts the Destroyer, offering his life in exchange for the humans' safety while Loki watches from Asgard. The Destroyer responds by basically killing him.But Thor's selfless sacrifice proves he is worthy. His hammer flies out of the ground straight into his hand, restoring his powers and armor. Thor defeats the Destroyer and tries to return to Asgard, promising Jane he'll come back for her.Thor confronts Loki, and they battle on the Bifrost bridge. The bridge collapses, Odin saves Thor, and Loki — clinging to Odin's staff — finally lets go and falls into the void.Dead???All is well in Asgard, but not in Thor's heart, because he misses Jane. Don't worry though — she's got a new lab and is determined to find him again. In the post-credits scene, Erik Selvig is brought to a S.H.I.E.L.D. facility where Nick Fury reveals a mysterious glowing cube and asks Selvig to study it. We then see Loki secretly influencing Selvig's mind.Nothing ominous about that at all. Watch the show on Youtube - www.deckthehallmark.com/youtubeInterested in advertising on the show? In this powerful and uplifting episode of The Penis Project Podcast, Melissa Hadley Barrett is joined by Dr Jane Foster, an educator and author who's spent more than 40 years helping people understand and manage their emotions. Jane's groundbreaking “steering-wheel” metaphor teaches us that while we can't control life's bumpy roads, we can control how we steer through them. Her simple, evidence-based approach to emotional resilience encourages us to replace judgment and blame with choice and responsibility. Together, Melissa and Jane explore how our emotions, stress responses, and everyday habits shape mental and physical well-being — from coping with anxiety and overwhelm to managing relationship challenges and recovering from life's rough patches. In This Episode, We Cover: How emotional resilience begins with understanding your “steering wheel” — you choose how you respond. Why rough roads (stress, setbacks, grief) are vital for personal growth. The importance of shifting language: swapping “good and bad” for “rough and smooth” to remove self-judgment. Jane's research on how simple daily SMS reminders transformed emotional well-being — and even saved lives. The concept of TEPS and PETS: identifying everyday triggers (TEPS) and creating healthy coping strategies (PETS). How partners can use this model to communicate better and manage intimacy challenges after illness or surgery. Practical tools for dealing with overwhelm, from mindful breathing to setting boundaries and creating space for recovery. Key Takeaways: You can't control the road, but you can control your steering. Emotional resilience is a skill — built by practicing calm responses on life's rough roads. Reframing our language reduces guilt and self-criticism, improving relationships and mental health. Stress, anger, and anxiety aren't “bad” — they're part of a healthy pulse of life. Small daily actions (your PETS) can prevent emotional overload and support long-term well-being. Expert Insight from Melissa Hadley Barrett Melissa reflects on how Jane's approach can be applied in men's health — especially for those recovering from prostate cancer or experiencing sexual dysfunction. Learning to recognize emotional “rough roads” and respond with awareness can make a huge difference to physical recovery, relationship harmony, and confidence. This episode contains: We're joined by patron, friend of the show, and high school classmate of Steven and Devon: Renee! She went to Comic-Con, so we think she's cool. Renee and Devon were in the smart class together. Turns out all of us were in the GATE program. We ask her how we can improve the podcast, but it turns out it's already perfect. Steven and Ben went to The Ravine, a local water park, with their kids. Getting a cabana is a must. Ben has season tickets and considers using lunch time to slip away to the water park. Ben takes some time to reminisce about his departed father with a bike ride. Devon tells us about Glamping at Lake Tyler. Ben's son Flint hates camping, it's “the worst.” Devon is also going to stay in a tree house. Renee was traumatized by Steven's boating/spider story from a prior episode. This concludes the camping portion of the podcast. What We Have For You Today: Hundreds of Beavers: Ben then brings us the black and white silent comedy movie: Hundreds of Beavers. A must-watch movie: “The second highest-rated film on Letterboxd at the halfway point of 2024 is a black-and-white silent comedy made for just $150,000.” Imagine Buster Keaton, Looney Tunes, and The Legend of Zelda thrown in a blender, but even better. The movie is a #ShowYourWork dream: Here's the behind-the-scenes of how they made it https://letterboxd.com/crew/story/how-they-made-hundreds-of-beavers-exclusive/?utm_source=substack&utm_medium=email (lo-fi with lots and lots of After Effects), an epic list of movies that inspired the film https://letterboxd.com/100sofbeavers/list/movies-that-inspired-hundreds-of-beavers/?utm_source=substack&utm_medium=email, and an interview with the filmmaking team, who say, “We believe in small and slow” https://filmmakermagazine.com/126576-interview-mike-cheslik-ryland-brockton-cole-tews-hundreds-of-beavers/?utm_source=substack&utm_medium=email. Four people over 12 weeks can make a more interesting film than an indie trying to emulate a Hollywood look and only having 10 days.” Ben then asks the age-old question: Godfather Part I v. The Bear Season 3? Ben watched The Godfather for the first time. Renee recommends the show The Offer about the making of The Godfather. Renee then reveals that she is not sure about the Fantastic 4 comics or movies. Steven is optimistic about the coming MCU Fantastic 4: First Steps. House of the Dragon: We all finished this season of House of the Dragon. Devon gives us a rant about how the botched ending of Game of Thrones is even worse now given how important HOTD makes The Song of Ice and Fire. Ben didn't fully buy Daemon's character arc this season. Ben and Devon would like HOTD to be more removed from Game of Thrones. We still all liked the season. Renee schools us on dragons v. wyverns. San Diego Comic Con 2024: We then interview Renee about San Diego Comic-Con. She, her daughters, and mother all dressed as Leia the last couple years. This year they went as characters from Percy Jackson, and X-Men '97 characters. Renee previously got a pic with Mark Hamil and wants a pic with Hayden Christensen (as various Leia incarnations). Renee explains how she got into cosplay and how she made some of her costumes. She liked using her daughter as a prop when she was a baby. She also makes clothes. She learned a lot by making Jane Foster's Mighty Thor costume for her daughter. We then learn about the mechanics of the Con and off-site events. Marvel nerds will wait a long time for a panel, a long time. Artist panels are fun and don't have as long as a wait. Renee's daughter got to ask a question at the Percy Jackson panel. Renee recommends the off-site bar Mothership, the coolest bar ever! https://mothershiptrip.com/ The only Comic-Con Ben went to was in 1992, which was where they premiered Batman The Animated Series. Ben found some interesting videos of the 1992 San Deigo Comic-Con: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ek3-VofsGtQ&ab_channel=CBS8SanDiego https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPwQKn9ZfLI&ab_channel=retrogamer Renee has also gone to Fan Expo and Condor. Also, The Santa Maria Inn had a come kind of Con when Renee was a kid. Ben has also been to a lot of Star Trek conventions, one with Devon. Ben and Devon also went to the Star Trek Experience in Vegas. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J8tEbC5JUu0&ab_channel=DannysonicPuppy According to Steven, the new Batman show, Batman: The Caped Crusader, is a must watch. You can find it on Amazon Prime Video. It's rated TV Y7 but it feels like it's for adults. Dr Jane Foster, a leading researcher and educator with a PhD in health and education, noticed how the pervasive culture of blame, criticism and judgement was damaging and destructive for teams and individuals. Janes's work equips us with the means to manage our daily stresses by changing our perspective and creating new neural pathways. Jane's program, Emotional Resilience, was created in response to the increasing number of people who pretended to appear fine on the outside but, on the inside, weren't coping at all, instead teaching self-regulation, replacing blame and judgement with responsibility, empathy and compassion. This is Episode 21: All We Need is Love...Thor: Love and ThunderTopics of DiscussionAccording to Joel Hodge in an article: “All you need is love: The theology of ‘Thor: Love and Thunder'” posted 27 Jul 2022 states:But this is not where the question of faith ends for Thor: one must find a deeper faith that makes us “worthy” of our life, humanity, and each other. Worthiness and love are the answers that Thor uses to give meaning to Jane Foster (a.k.a., “Mighty Thor”) and Gorr when they are at their most desperate. In both cases, Thor puts love into practice and reconciles with his former lover and his enemy.Though the film flirts with nihilism, it is ultimately shown to run against the grain of the MCU. For the MCU is built around belief in heroism and love. And this is the ultimate message of Thor: Love and Thunder: that love is the ultimate source of meaning and purpose. Thor expresses this in the climactic scene with Gorr, when he tells his adversary that both of them are really looking for love and that life is only worth living with love. Love is often reduced by Hollywood to romanticism. That is certainly is present in the film, but not overdone — instead, Thor: Love and Thunder shows love is more bound up with self-sacrifice and selfless care of others, especially the weak or powerless.Premise of DiscussionHow does the theme of love play a key role at the heart of Thor: Love and Thunder? “You are what you eat” is a well-known saying. But is it really true? That's what we explore in this week's CrowdScience thanks to a question from listener Claire from Australia. We each have trillions of tiny microbes and bacteria inside our bodies, living in our mouths, skin, ears and even in our eyes. Each community of microbes and bacteria is known as a microbiome. The most populous of these is in our gut, with hundreds of trillions of organisms and bacteria helping digest the food we eat. Our gut microbiome is affected by lots of things but mainly by our diet. With our gut microbiome forming such a massive part of our insides, people have long suspected that what we eat impacts how we feel. Presenter Caroline Steel investigates. She speaks to a professor of Psychiatry, Jane Foster, to find out how interconnected our microbiome and our brain really are. Professor Foster also explains the different ways in which our microbiome and brain communicate. Do we really know what role diet plays in mental health? Consultant psychiatrist Professor David Veale provides more detail. And at a café with a rather interesting menu, Caroline samples some of the food available as occupational therapist Joel Oliver explains how important food can be as part of mental health treatment. This begs the question: if our microbiome really does influence our mental health, can we harness the power of microbes to potentially find new treatments to help our mental health? Dr Najaf Amin tells us about her research identifying the link between specific microbes and depression. This is Episode 10: Journey into the Psychedelic: Opening Your Third Eye in Doctor Strange and Fatherhood of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.Topics of DiscussionDoctor StrangePurely as an indulgence, remember that in Thor, when he is speaking to Jane Foster, he says “Your ancestors called it magic, but you call it science. I come from a land where they are one and the same.”It is interesting to ponder this in light of what happens in Doctor Strange, where a man of science comes to practice a form of magic. Study and practice, there are crossovers. Strangely, for doctor Strange, it has been noted by philosophers that "science tries to make magic real."Consider the following list of magical feats that were accomplished by science (please, feel free to add):* Flying: we do fly, with machines and or wings attached.* Flying to outer space: we put men on the moon and have reached the confines of our solar system.* Seeing what is invisible to the eye: through our instruments, we see the world of the very small and the very large. We also see all the invisible radiation that surrounds us, infrared, ultraviolet, radio waves.* Communicating at a distance: through radio, phones, cell phones, we can connect with people anywhere in the planet. Blogs!* Seeing at a distance: with TV and video-phoning we can see beyond the reach of the eye.* Fighting disease: one the oldest links between science and magic, healing the body and mind.* Destruction: we all know this one.* Add your own here.Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2 develops a simple Greek tragedy theme with a twist: A son that kills his father because of his mother. In the Marvel adaptation, Peter Quill kills his father, Ego, because he confessed he had killed his mother and took the opportunity to have a child who's half-god in order to conquer the entire universe. Oedipus experience was more human and Peter Quill did not marry his mother (can you imagine audiences enjoying this? No, and so did Marvel) but they did take it to the next level: Peter's father was a God who had to be exterminated so the galaxy could keep being a harmonious place.Premise of DiscussionLet us then talk about Magic and Science in Doctor Strange and its relationship and for Guardians, the literary character of Greek Tragedy in superheroes. The son of Odon returns in his fourth movie within the Marvel Cinematic Universe once again starring Chris Hemsworth as the titular her and directed for the second time (after the previous one, Thor Ragnarok) by Taika Waititi. This time, he has a dangerous new enemy who is out to kill ALL gods (himself included) played by Oscar winner Christian Bale. He is also reuniting with a former love – returning from the first two films is Oscar winner Natalie Portman playing the earth-bound scientist Jane Foster, only this time she seems to be in possession of Thor's favorite hammer. Also joining us for this new adventure is Oscar winner (!) Russell Crowe as Zeus who….well the less said, the better. What results is a mad-cap adventure with heart which spans several different planets including ours where New Asgard is located – gratefully New Asgard is overseen by returning character Valkyrie, still played winningly by Tessa Thompson. So the gang's all here (minus Loki) as has the fun returned as well? Thor: The Dark World was an inevitability, off the moderate success of the first film in 2011 and The Avengers in 2012 it made sense to reteam Chris Harmsworth's God Of Thunder, Tom Hiddleston's Loki and a reluctant Natalie Portman as Jane Foster. This time it's Dark Elves! And multiple dimensions sort of! And a red swirling blood tornado! Director: Taika Waititi Screenwriter: Taika Waititi, Jennifer Kaytin Robinson Starring: Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, Tessa Thompson, Taika Waititi, Russell Crowe Runtime: 2 hour 5 minutes Synopsis: Thor enlists the help of Valkyrie, Korg and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster to fight Gorr the God Butcher, who intends to make the gods extinct. Kriss, Ro and Brandon are back to talk the fourth Thor film in the MCU, Thor Love and Thunder. This film is very much a product of its director Taika Waititi. If you had a problem with Thor Ragnorok then you'll probably have a problem with this film and how it blends humor with some really dark themes. Waititi's take on Thor has been to take the God of Thunder and show how much tragedy he's gone through and frame it in humor on the surface and pain and sadness underneath. Christian Bale's Gorr is straight out of a horror film and also is a character built off of sadness and tragedy. Listen as we talk about what works and what doesn't work for this latest MCU film. The concept of Thor always worked wonders within the pages of a Marvel comic or in Norse Mythology or in a 1988 Incredible Hulk telemovie but translating it to the big screen would prove to be a massive gamble. Directed by Kenneth Branagh and released in 2011, Thor Just Thor managed to rope in a terrific cast including Chris Hemsworth in the title role, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Rene Russo as Frigga and more. Combining magic, technology and myth it became a key part of the MCU paving the way for over a decade of appearances from the character. But the eyebrows were bad.
