This week's episode is about the Creative Recovery. There is no guest this week just a reflection on my creative recovery. Here are some highlights below. Creative Recovery This is the BIGGEST block to your creativity! The answer is your ANXIETY For the past 10 years, I have been creativity blocked, though I did not know why. I found myself consuming massive amounts of content but not creating anything in return. I felt like a failure and just worthless. As hard as I tried, I kept starting projects but not finishing them causing many of anxiety attacks. Have you ever felt like this? At the end of the day, you are most alive when you are creating. It wasn't until I learned how to invite anxiety in and learn how to manage it. You are not a failure or worthless. You will and can start creating again as it is just one breakthrough away. Subscribe for weekly drops and if you like the podcast give us a 5 star written review! Welcome to Now That’s Art. Thank you so much for tuning in. It means the world to me. So what’s this all about? As long as I could remember, deep down, there has been something unsure of my place and purpose. An unknown longing for self-understanding. I didn’t realize, couldn’t really comprehend, all that I didn’t know. Being from a small town in Georgia then moving to NYC, I focused on protecting what I knew as sacred and didn’t want to go explore beyond that. I took a seemingly benign trip to Rome and Paris. This trip set the stage for my most dramatic existential upheaval. Pre mid-life crisis. What I saw and experienced in Europe changed me forever in the most fundamental way. As I looked at the expansive ceilings of history, the ancient sculpture and statues, they seemed to reach a part of me that hadn’t been seen before. Showing me their years and guiding me to the understanding that I truly know nothing. Walking amongst the artwork and indelible marks of people long gone inspired a change in me and brought clarity as I’ve never had before. I saw before me history, creation, and purpose. I saw that everything is art and we are all the artists. I entered that sweet but arbitrary vacation a well-meaning person and I left a man with a spark of curiosity I haven’t felt in a while. That need has brought me here, to the only place that makes sense. A place to ask questions, to quench my thirst to know and learn from other people. Which I’m calling, Now, that’s art.
