Social media, and the rate at which the online world is changing, is worrying - especially the speed at which health disinformation can speed around the globe. We look to tech companies for a solution to the problems of their own making - but Heidi Larson, director of the Vaccine Confidence Project, and professor of anthropology, risk and decision science at LSHTM, joins us to explain why we should be cautious about focussing our attention there. Next on the podcast, research just published in The BMJ looks at the efficacy of exercise at controlling depressive symptoms - but helps finally answer the key question - which exercise works best. Lead author, Michael Noetel, senior lecturer in psychology at the University of Queensland, joins us to explain the research, and how well exercise stacks up against pharmacological treatments. Finally, while it's tempting to try and put the pandemic behind us, its effects linger - and many healthcare staff are still dealing with their experience of that time. Rachel Clarke, a palliative care doctor in the UK, joins us to explain why she has felt the need to document the pandemic, first in a book and now in a new TV drama set to air in the UK next week. 06:15 Heidi Larson on vaccine confidence and social media 15:31 Exploring the effectiveness of exercise for depression 26:56 Rachel Clark on seeing her experiences reflected on screen Reading list BMJ Collection: How are social media influencing vaccination Feature: Medical misinformation on social media—are the platforms equipped to be the judge? But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.' Using John chapter 4:46-5:18, Rachel Clark looks at Jesus, the God who heals in unexpected ways.

(Lucy and Rachel) In the often-chaotic society of sixteenth-century England, many people enthusiastically consumed true crime narratives in songs, news, and theater plays. Then as now, true crime narratives often centered on community crime-solving as a way of dealing with sensational and upsetting violence. Whether in the form of domestic tragedies or elaborate revenge dramas, true crime played to packed houses in the theaters of Elizabethan London. Amid religious and political upheaval, the popularity of true crime attested not just to evolving habits of media consumption, but also to powerful desires for communal order and mutual responsibility. In this episode, Lucy and guest host Dr. Rachel Clark examine true love, strong hate, and swift revenge – and why audiences tend to love a good murder.
By now most people know that exposure to lead is harmful. However, back in the 1800s not so much. Then on July 9th, 1978 a chemistry professor announced the results of his research and warned that lead must be removed from all consumers products. It took a century before decision makers took full action. The Michigan History Center's Rachel Clark explains how Professor Robert Kedzie sounded the lead alarm and was ignored for decades. In this episode, Alexa interviews Rachel Clark: Education Manager for DanceSafe, a public health nonprofit specializing in serving people who use drugs and their communities. As we move into the prime festival season, more people are going to be doing drugs, and the importance of harm reduction and drug testing becomes even more central to the experience. She discusses the complications of drug testing and how it's more of an act of ruling substances out rather than determining purity; the fentanyl problem and its surrounding myths; how to identify and treat an overdose (and what not to do); Philadelphia's struggles with Xylazine highlighting the problem with regional cross contamination; and DanceSafe's “We Love Consent” and “Healing is Power” campaigns, which aim to open up the dialogue of true harm reduction and safe spaces outside of the substance alone. My guest today is the creative and adventurous Rachel Clark. Rachel is a website designer who launched her own business, in branding and web design, to help service-based entrepreneurs and side-hustlers.In this episode, Rachel is here to share how she achieved clarity, confidence and consistent revenue in her website design business. We explore how Rachel's business has evolved over the 2 years it has been running, from Rachel doing absolutely everything she could to becoming very intentional with her offers. Rachel joined the Modern Marketing Collective 1 year ago and has thoroughly enjoyed and benefited from the retreat, the community and the self-paced learning. In just 2 months following the retreat, Rachel had her very first $10k month backed up by a $7k month. She made $60k revenue in her first year and has already beaten that this year! We discuss the nervousness Rachel felt around marketing and using video and reels. Rachel was very shy about showing up on camera and she talks openly about how she turned that around and now absolutely loves doing her marketing using this quick and easy method. You'll find so much value in Rachel's experience and advice. She tells us to be confident in our own business and our worth. We need to learn to prioritise ourselves and our business by not letting other people's needs to always come first. "It's a little like pulling a thread on a sweater, and worrying that the whole sweater is going to unravel. But I'd rather be sitting in a whole pile of yarn than wearing what I think is a sweater, but is actually a strait jacket." - Rachel ClarkThis week's discussion with Rachel Clark will feel like a familiar journey to many. Raised in an evangelical home near the hub of Jim Bakker's Praise the Lord TV network, Rachel intimately understood the value of being close to "Christian Celebrities." Following in the footsteps of a father who worked in television production, she grew up to choose the same career path for herself. But as an adult, something began to pull her away from the lights and cameras and closer to the pursuit of who God actually is...and isn't. You will want to tune in for this talk around showbiz in the sanctuary, seeking God in the wilderness, parenting through the process, and finding spiritual community among the wanderers. We continue to discuss the importance of the effort of Veterans for Peace to develop a legitimate Nuclear Posture Review with a distinguished panel including David Swanson, Executive Director of World Beyond War, Alice Slater of World Beyond War and the VFP Nuclear Abolition Working Group and Rachel Clark of VFP and the Nuclear Abolition Working Group. While the Biden Administration and the Defense Department develop their own Nuclear Posture Review which will more than likely support nuclear saber-rattling and expansion of the madness of our nuclear program, Veterans for Peace has developed an alternative NPR, an NPR that considers humanity.

VC Unlocked Season 2 Izzy & Rachel-And She Rose UK When two professional singers joined forces to create a brand new company in lockdown separate from music and singing, we definitely wanted to find out more. Rachel has been working as a lead vocalist & DJ on the function scene for 10 years since studying music in London and is now releasing her own music as an artist. Izzy has been working as a session singer & band leader for the last 10 years in London working for many artists and most recently joining Dua Lipa as one of her backing vocalists. With the pandemic and the constantly pivoting music industry, they told us how they wanted to keep uplifted and stay focused on their mental health with healing, reading, affirmations and mediation so together they created an online Flower & Wellness company called And She Rose UK. Studies have proved that flowers release serotonin to boost positivity and general wellbeing so Izzy & Rachel started researching the history of Floriography. What are the deeper meanings of certain flowers, what their power properties are and how can they marry them with affirmations in order to bring hope and positivity into other peoples homes. They add that building a business in the music industry from scratch provided them with a thick skin and the constant demand for reinvention gave them invaluable experience which could easily be applied in other industries too. ‘We realised that launching And She Rose UK even before it was perfect was a valuable learning curve. We are such perfectionists but it's important to just get it off the ground. Creating an online business in lockdown means that going forward, we can work from anywhere at anytime' --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/vocalcodeunlocked/message

This week’s guest is Malinda Kaur, a second assistant director whose recent credits include Clio Barnard’s upcoming film Ali & Ava, HBO & Sky Atlantic’s TV series The Third Day, British independent dramas Rocks and Monsoon and a little show calling Killing Eve. Malinda started out as a floor runner working on Andrea Arnold’s Wuthering Heights, before becoming a third assistant director. We discuss in-depth that particular hierarchy and how her responsibilities change depending on both the role, and the project. Malinda is also a writer-director in her own right, having made two short films, Amishi in 2016, which was shot by Robbie Ryan and Blind in 2019 which was shot by former podcast guest Rachel Clark. Malinda was selected as a mentee on the 2019 Women in Film & TV mentoring programme for writing & directing and she is currently preparing to shoot her third short. It was really heartening to hear how Malinda has balanced her creative ambitions with the need to get full-time work, and how the practical elements of her roles on set have gone on to inform her own filmmaking process.

On this episode of The Impact Sessions, Rachel Clark, Director at Wrapped PR shares her views on the whole PR world. It is often a very misunderstood discipline and often, people either ignore its real potential or fail to maximise its impact, neither of which is ideal, for the client or the industry. PR, or Public Relations to give it its full title, sits alongside the sales and marketing mix and is integral to supporting areas such as brand, reputation, sales, and business strategy. Rachel, quite naturally, is a passionate advocate of PR but on this episode, she presents compelling evidence of the value and impact that PR can deliver for a business. She even has an offer of a free initial PR Telephone Consultation for any Impact Sessions viewer or listener to demonstrate that value and impact. https://wrappedpr.co.uk/contact/ Contact Details Rachel Clark Founder of Wrapped PR Tel - +44 (0) 7557 400973 Email - rachel@wrappedagency.co.uk

Nadda Mean? My favorite sport is dissected by its owner, who's name is either Rasha Chak or Rachel Clark. I inquire about my skills vs. her's/him's bowling, and things go south quickly.
This week I speak to cinematographer Rachel Clark. Rachel’s CV is incredibly impressive. She started out in the industry over ten years ago, working as a runner on the likes of This Is England (2006), and progressed into the camera department where she worked as a trainee on Control (2007). In the years after that Rachel worked as clapper loader on lots of British indie films such as Bronson, Fish Tank and Wuthering Heights as well huge blockbusters such World War Z and Captain America: Civil War. As a first assistant camera assistant she travelled across the US with Cinematographer Robbie Ryan and director Andrea Arnold for the road movie American Honey (2016) and has worked around the world on many 2nd Unit action sequences: Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them (2016), & Black Panther (2018) among them. Rachel was the 2nd Unit Director of Photography on director Sarah Gavron’s latest film Rocks and has just completed photography on the feature film Concrete Plans. I felt very honoured to lure Rachel away from the camera to the microphone and basically ask lots of basic questions about what cinematography actually is. We cover lots of interesting topics such as the physicality and energy the role requires, what Rachel does in her downtime between jobs and how she stays motivated, and what she learnt from working with Robbie Ryan. I hope you enjoy the interview.

Rachel Clark is a wearable artist, pattern designer, lecturer, teacher, and mother. She began creating wearable art in 1973 and teaching on the national circuit in 199o. Known for her intuitive sense of color, Rachel mixes fabric types along with the story behind each piece. Her work has been in one woman shows along with magazines and in the Fairfield/Bernina Fashion Show. During our conversation, we talk about her journey as a child from Louisiana to her home today in Watsonville, California as well as how she designs her wearable art pieces, getting over the loss of her work and her "organized chaos" working style. I hope you enjoy the episode. This episode is sponsored by The Confident Stitch, a new fabric store specializing in garment fabrics, modern quilting cottons, and great customer service. For 10 years, Higher Standards Academy was just Jerilyn Kass. She was independently doing the work of the entire business—teaching SAT prep to college-bound students—and growing slowly but steadily. For a while, slow and steady worked for her. But comfort soon grew into impatience, and she realized faster growth would take an outside perspective so she could see and focus on the areas of her business she was neglecting. With the help of her Coach, Rachel Clark, Jerilyn grew revenues by 40%, hired a team of people she loves working with, took her first almost completely unplugged vacation, and now feels like the leader of her business for the first time.
