Take me back to Paradise City er Island, where the grass is green and the women have style and are strong. It seems Diana is not the only Amazonian who has left Themyscira. Aresia has come to man's world not on a mission of peace, but a mission of death. Aresia has gathered the Injustice Gang (Star Sapphire, Tsukuri, Grundy, The Shade, and Copperhead) and is using them to collect technology, gems, and more from Gotham City. But when the men start to question her plan, she gasses them. She is making an antigen that infects and kills only men. As a child, she escaped a war-torn country only to have her ship destroyed by pirates. She washed up on Themyscira. The Amazons raised her as one of their own and even used magic to give her Amazonian strength and powers. But she took the Amazonian feelings about men and her history to build hate towards all men. The men of the Justice League are taken down by the antigen. This leaves only Wonder Woman and Hawkgirl to take down Aresia, Sapphire, and Tsukuri. With Hippolyta's help, they damage the plane carrying the antigen bombs. Aresia seemingly goes down with the plane. In the process Wonder Woman and Hippolyta learn the value of men and how the Themysciraian doctrine can be twisted. In this episode of the "Giant Mess" podcast, host Neal Lynch recounts his funniest, most interesting stories and experiences from September including a trip to Block Island for Labor Day weekend the resulted in him missing his daughter's birthday, watching super-long movies like Rebel Moon, Babylon, and Horizon An American Saga in addition to other, shorter cinematic adventures like The Watchers, A Quiet Place Day One, Rebel Ridge, and Wild Robot. Also, a recap of the Riverfest Pork Roll Eating Championship, a birthday party meltdown, and more. Funny Stories from Giant Mess Podcast - https://bit.ly/GiantMessFunnyStories ABOUT NEAL LYNCH: I'm an Irish-Italian-American who graduated from 1) a Catholic high school (even though I'm not Catholic), and 2) a college known for producing doctors and lacrosse players, then became neither. I was a former 4th string college quarterback and middle relief pitcher who thought an overpriced film and media studies degree was a smart choice. Now, I'm a single dad who likes to blog, vlog, podcast, write, edit, optimize, strategize, and over-analyze. ABOUT "GIANT MESS": "Giant Mess" is a sloppy sports and entertainment podcast hosted by a giant mess, the Real Cinch Neal Lynch. Neal's a single dad who loves to talk New York Giants football, Mets baseball, movies, TV shows, and comedy. A new school in San Antonio called Nukudu offers a paid training program followed by a guaranteed job in cybersecurity. The program aims to address the shortage of cyber jobs and provides hands-on training to ensure candidates are prepared for the workforce. Our guest, Dr. Thomas Hyslop, an assistant professor at the University of South Florida, shares his experience in law enforcement and the importance of interagency collaboration in combating cybercrime. He also discusses the Master of Science in Cybercrime program at USF, which focuses on digital forensics and criminal investigation. The future of cybercrime is concerning as large criminal organizations are becoming more sophisticated and mimicking nation states in their capabilities. Investigating international cybercrime is challenging due to the need for cooperation between countries and the slow response times. Changes in international treaties and agreements are needed to expedite investigations. Dr. Highslip ran a museum of vintage technology and is looking for a place to house it permanently. He enjoys swimming in Mirror Lake, biking on Champs-Elysees, and running in DC for his ideal triathlon. His favorite junk food treat is Bit-O-Honey and he loves all kinds of pies. Guns N' Roses is his favorite hair metal band and his favorite song is Paradise City. He enjoys playing metal songs at social gatherings and believes that Appetite for Destruction is a timeless album. Four years after we featured their guest mix, one of the most played with over 40K plays, the beloved Italian duo Orion is back on our "Delayed with..." series. This time, they're sharing a live set recorded at this year's Paradise City festival. Saturday's program at the Sweet Spot stage included many of our friends who are usual suspects here at Delayed. It felt like a family gathering... in the rain. Rain can dramatically influence a party's vibe. It often disrupts, ends, or alters the atmosphere, but sometimes, it enhances the energy, creating a unique experience. Fortunately for Orion and everyone at the Sweet Spot stage that Saturday, the rain brought the latter effect. Orion and the crowd were in sync, embracing the "f*ck this rain" attitude. Orion's live set was groovy and deep yet uplifting and energetic. No artist wants rain during their performance, but in this case, it just worked. It was great. We're stoked to share this special live set with you. Welcome to PTBN Pop's Video Jukebox Song of The Day! Every weekday will be featuring a live watch of a great and memorable music video. This week, with the summer concert season starting up, we're featuring songs that really are best heard in a large stadium during a live show. On today's episode, Andy Atherton is watching, “Paradise City” by Guns N' Roses from 1989. The YouTube link for the video is below so you can watch along! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rbm6GXllBiw
Congratulations to all of the graduates out there! It's time for one last bash before the summer kicks off. Preston Meyers (Ethan Embry) has gone near obsessive-gaga over Amanda Beckett (Jennifer Love Hewitt) since freshman year. Now that Mike Dexter (Peter Facinelli) has broken up with her, maybe he can express his feelings to her. It all starts with a frosted strawberry Pop Tart. It's kismet! Meanwhile, William Lichter (Charlie Korsmo) plots his revenge on Mike for the years of tournament. He'll try to navigate through “Paradise City.” Also, Denise (Lauren Ambrose) is locked in a bathroom with Kenny (Seth Green) and his backpack of sexiness. RTS attend this soiree with high hopes and Barry Manilow in their hearts. Collin makes it clear that you can buy his flavor, but you can't waste his flavor. Is everything just fated to happen? Can a letter change it all? When is the band going to start? Jerry O'Connell! What?!

Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Duff McKagan, best known as a member of Guns N' Roses and Velvet Revolver, talks about writing songs with his legendary bandmates, a few of his various side projects, and his genre-spanning recent album, Lighthouse.PART ONEScott and Paul shout out some Patreon supporters and reflect on the small handful of artists who, like Guns N' Roses, emerged on the scene and completely changed the game. PART TWOOur in-depth interview with Duff McKaganABOUT DUFF McKAGANThough best known as the bassist for Guns N' Roses, Duff McKagan wears many musical hats. He started his career in Seattle playing various instruments in various punk bands. Following a stint on guitar in the group 10 Minute Warning he moved to Los Angeles, and eventually ended up in Guns N' Roses. Starting in 1987, they released a steady stream of classics with songwriting credits to the whole band, including “Welcome to the Jungle,” “Sweet Child o' Mine,” “Paradise City,” and “Patience.” As the 1990s dawned, the group released the albums Use Your Illusion I and II, which included Duff-penned songs such as “Civil War,” which he co-wrote with Slash and Axl Rose, and “So Fine,” which he wrote solo, and on which he performed the lead vocal. Following Duff's first solo album, Believe in Me, in 1993, he formed the supergroup Neurotic Outsiders, which included Steve Jones of the Sex Pistols, John Taylor of Duran Duran, and Matt Sorum of The Cult and Guns N' Roses. After departing Guns N' Roses in 1997, Duff returned to 10 Minute Warning before forming a new band called Loaded. That band went on hiatus when he launched Velvet Revolver with Loaded guitarist Dave Kushner, Slash, Matt Sorum, and Scott Weiland of Stone Temple Pilots. Writing the songs with the whole band, they found success with tracks such as “Slither” and “Fall to Pieces.” In 2016 Duff and Slash officially returned to Guns N' Roses to headline Coachella. Prior to his return, he played with various groups, including a revival of Loaded, Alice Cooper's band, Jane's Addiction, and Hollywood Vampire. Since returning to Guns N' Roses Duff has remained busy with outside projects. His solo album Tenderness, produced by Shooter Jennings, was released in 2019. He co-wrote five songs on Ozzy Osbourne's Ordinary Man album, and co-wrote three songs on Iggy Pop's album Every Loser. The Rock & Roll Hall of Famer's most recent solo effort, entitled Lighthouse, was released in 2023.

As far as rock stars go, they don't get much bigger than Axl Rose. As the front-man of Guns N' Roses, he became an instant legend when their debut album, “Appetite for Destruction” was released in 1987. Spawning hits that are still iconic twenty-five years later (with the soundtrack for Thor: Love and Thunder featuring them prominently), including “Welcome to the Jungle,” “Paradise City,” and “Sweet Child of Mine,” the album broke out from the hard rock/heavy metal genre to become one of the biggest selling albums of all time. Throughout the late eighties and early nineties, they were one of the biggest bands in the world, with “Use Your Illusion 1 & 2” also major sellers. Axl Rose was everywhere, especially when the band started doing ballads like “Don't Cry” and “November Rain.”Yet, after the release of their covers album, “The Spaghetti Incident,” Guns N' Roses started to fall apart, with iconic guitarist Slash and Duff McKagan leaving acrimoniously. Rose would spend most of the next decade working on a follow-up album, “Chinese Democracy,” with an ever-revolving lineup of members, with the album in question a critical and commercial disappointment. In the meantime, rumours about Rose's behaviour and sobriety ran rampant. In this episode of WTF Happened to this Celebrity, we try to separate fact from fiction and celebrate the fact that Rose has since reunited much of the original band and that they still sell out stadiums worldwide.

Appetite for Destruction Review by Stephen Thomas Erlewine Guns N' Roses' debut, Appetite for Destruction was a turning point for hard rock in the late '80s -- it was a dirty, dangerous, and mean record in a time when heavy metal meant nothing but a good time. On the surface, Guns N' Roses may appear to celebrate the same things as their peers -- namely, sex, liquor, drugs, and rock & roll -- but there is a nasty edge to their songs, since Axl Rose doesn't see much fun in the urban sprawl of L.A. and its parade of heavy metal thugs, cheap women, booze, and crime. The music is as nasty as the lyrics, wallowing in a bluesy, metallic hard rock borrowed from Aerosmith, AC/DC, and countless faceless hard rock bands of the early '80s. It's a primal, sleazy sound that adds grit to already grim tales. It also makes Rose's misogyny, fear, and anger hard to dismiss as merely an artistic statement; this is music that sounds lived-in. And that's exactly why Appetite for Destruction is such a powerful record -- not only does Rose have fears, but he also is vulnerable, particularly on the power ballad "Sweet Child O' Mine." He also has a talent for conveying the fears and horrors of the decaying inner city, whether it's on the charging "Welcome to the Jungle," the heroin ode "Mr. Brownstone," or "Paradise City," which simply wants out. But as good as Rose's lyrics and screeching vocals are, they wouldn't be nearly as effective without the twin-guitar interplay of Slash and Izzy Stradlin, who spit out riffs and solos better than any band since the Rolling Stones, and that's what makes Appetite for Destruction the best metal record of the late '80s. linktr.ee/CatchingUpOnCinema Happy New Year! In this, the first episode of Catching Up On Cinema for the year 2023, Trevor does a solo review of Chuck Russell's, Paradise City (2022)! Billed as both the latest and (potentially) last of Bruce Willis' rather unfortunate string of direct-to-video films, Paradise City (2022) is a bland actioner that, while admittedly hamstrung by a cognitively comprised star and a tight shooting schedule, largely fails to add up to the sum of its parts. Despite a boasting a capable director in the form of Chuck Russell, decent production values, and a cast of eager supporting players, Paradise City is coherent and seldom embarrassing, but sadly not much more than that. Bonus points for successfully telling a (simple) story and achieving feature length, e.g. being a film. Also, bonus points for the part where the dude is dropped into the greenscreen volcano.
