Check out the premiere podcast for the NHL's newest franchise! Tune in as Brett Davern, Kevin Campbell, and Chris Labrum update you on the Seattle Kraken, the NHL's 32nd team and final expansion franchise.
In this episode, Ryan and Brett delve into the Seattle Kraken's unpredictable season. Reflecting on the team's peculiar consistency, they seem to alternate between moments of brilliance and severe collapses, which ultimately erodes their confidence. There is a strong emphasis on the need for accountability among players, particularly the younger members of the team, to step up and take on leadership roles. The duo discusses the recent struggles of the Kraken, particularly during their latest road trip, expressing disappointment about their playoff chances yet remaining optimistic about the potential for younger players like Maddie Beniers to shine. They explore the philosophy that “shooting the puck” leads to positive outcomes and the importance of creating high-quality scoring chances. Finally, the episode humorously suggests holding a “Kraken Intervention” for the team, highlighting the passionate fan support that remains steadfast, regardless of the challenges faced. It is a hopeful reminder that fans will continue to rally behind the Kraken, urging them to set a stronger tone going forward. #GoKraken
The episode features hosts Brett and Ryan discussing the current struggles of the Seattle Kraken as they reflect on their performance and expectations midway through the season. Brett thinks the Kraken are in a "full-blown tailspin", Ryan thinks there is a lack of cohesion among players, with some wanting to play aggressively while others favor a more cautious approach. Both hosts agree that the key players need to step up, and Yanni Gourde echoed this sentiment, indicating that more emotional engagement and passion are necessary on the ice. Kraken need to get back to fundamentals and win some games on the road! #GOKRAKEN
Don't look now but the Kraken are playing pretty well! Can they keep it up?! Whats the difference between 6th and 1st place and can the team stay motivated with Jordan down? The Release The Show team is wishing you a happy and healthy holiday! Go Kraken!!
The Kraken are in a rough patch but Chris is back on the show (kinda) to make all of our woes feel better (kinda)! Go Kraken!
In this episode, Brett and Ryan have a conversation covering various topics, starting with a playful discussion about hanging a logo on the wall and the challenges of displaying it. They then talk about Ryan's sudden excitement during the pre-show and joke about Austin Powers references, which not everyone in the group fully understands. The hosts move on to discussing hockey, focusing on the Seattle Kraken's recent games against the Philadelphia Flyers, Calgary Flames, and Colorado Avalanche. They analyze the Kraken's performance, satisfied with their two wins and the close loss to the Avalanche. The group discusses the concept of "response goals" in hockey, emphasizing their importance and jokingly proposing a reverse strategy of letting the opposing team score first to motivate comebacks. They reference beer league hockey and joke about unconventional sports strategies, all while keeping the conversation light and filled with banter. Toward the end, they reference the movie Seabiscuit to draw a parallel between holding back in competition and achieving a comeback victory. Lets Go Kraken!!
Hosts Brett and Ryan Wetstein analyze the Seattle Kraken's mixed start to the season, currently holding a 2-2 record after four games. They reflect on the home opener's atmosphere, noting a lack of pre-game excitement due to the unusual afternoon timing. Ryan is disappointed with the team's performance compared to the promotional hype, drawing parallels with the Mariners and Seahawks. Hopefully the Kraken can get some bonding on the road. They discuss assistant coach Jessica Campbell's significant role in strategic planning and in-game adjustments, particularly praising her impact on the forwards' development. They give flowers to Captain Jordan Eberle. He's a natural fit as captain! We're excited for the team's potential and the energy at home games and won't stand for mediocrity. And what's with the Davy Jones hat moving to a new, motivational belt?! The team's identity should stem from hard work and performance rather than gimmicks, we need team spirit and accountability for a successful season! Lets go Kraken!!
The day has come for Coach Hack to find another team and Brett, Ryan and Chris are ... actually kinda sad about it. We play a bit of our favorite game, Should They Stay or Should They Go? What kind of coach do you want to see next, and most of all, make Matty B earn his spot! Go Kraken!
It's a full Hockey show, the entire time... for real! Is there a curse of the Coyotes? Chris is back to predicting scores, Ryan wants us to keep an eye on Shane Wright, and Brett just wants to talk Mariners. Go Kraken!
Don't look now but we think the "I-5-alry" might be happening! Plus, who was your favorite 90's Seattle Weather man? We also chat about Teoscar Hernandez... wait, is this a Hockey show? The Kraken are doing well but we still find something to yell about (it's the Davy Jones hat!) We cheer for McCann and we want more lasagna for Matty B! Go Kraken!
On this episode, it's not a question anymore. We suck. We go through the season so far and try to figure out the difference from when we were winning and, well... now. The players are mad and the team seems divided. Maybe a naming Captain would help them? Plus, can we get a little excitement from the crowd? Let's see some energy all around! Go Kraken!!
What can the Kraken do to stop the Kings? Matty B needs to use the break to get some of his Mom's lasagna. Plus we're playing a quick round of Should They Stay Or Should They Go. Plus, there's nothing worse than when someone isn't calling you back.. but thats just the therapy section of the show. We need constancy, no more streaking. Go Kraken!!
The Kraken are on a cold streak, what was happening during the winning streak thats not happening now? And for that matter, why are the Kraken so streaky? We call out Matty B and Brett calls for Coach Hack to pack! Plus are hockey players really all that tough or are they too busy listening to Country music like Ryan and Chris? Looking for the bright side? There's only 4 more games until the Allstar break! Go Kraken!
The Kraken lost the streak, but they're having fun! We're playing banged up but we get a chance to start antlers win streak. Ryan has love for Dunn, Brett's into Gourde and Chris is Bjorkstrand-ing it. Plus a reenactment of what it was like when Hakstol "surprised" Bjorkstrand with the All Star news, what's your Uber rating, and can you catsup on a corndog? Go Kraken!!
The Kraken are on a hot streak, we revel in the Winter Classic glory and we exchange Gretzky stories. Plus, some Should I Stay Or Should I Go, and who do we need to sign to save the rest of the season?? Go Kraken!!
In this pre-recorded episode. Chris, Ryan and Brett take whipped cream shots and discuss how relieved (most of us are, anyway) that Chris gets to keep his clothes on. Plus, our wish for the Kraken as a whole. Mostly we just miss Daniel Sprong. Happy Holidays and Go Kraken!
Some good hockey from our Kraken team lately! We share our excitement for the newest member of The Kraken who we're calling "The Dip". Little Chris gets to keep his cloths on because the Kraken finally stared winning! Plus, how far do you think you could yeet a fish?? Go Kraken!!
We suck and we're her to talk about it, and We're drinking our sorrows. We're 2 away from Chris having to polar plunge!! That might be the only silver lining we have. We read some rants. What happened to Matty B?? Tanniv has a horrible stat line. Brett calls a family meeting about Gru. We're calling for line brawls and goalie fights! Go Kraken!
Our dudes, Brett and Ryan talk hockey, but we're back to discussing uniforms as our only bright spot. We read some rants, we have some major rants about the Mariners and try our best to stay positive. Go Kraken!
Since last we talked, the Kraken have been playing hockey... good hockey! We got ahold of the I-5-alry (read: rivalry). We play in overtime 50% of the time but we're scrappy and not giving up! We've got some must win games coming up, but the trade deadline is approaching and help could be on the way. Go Kraken!!
On this episode, Kraken color commentator Al Kinisky commiserates with Brett and Chris. What changed in the off season? Do we actually suck? Al makes us feel better and we continue the conversation about captions. Maybe you don't need one on a Hockey team? Regardless, we need our dudes to band together and become a family again. Go Kraken!!
Mike Benton joins Brett, Ryan and Chris for an honest discussion about our Kraken. When will Banners score? How can this team be a playoff contender? And who's going to step forward and take the leadership role? Go Kraken!
Our guest Chet Buchanan joins the show to remind us that the Kraken had a slow start last year as well and Bright Side Brett is happy we closed the road trip with a W. Plus, Chris thinks the Seahawk throwback jerseys are sick, Chet earns the nickname "The Executioner" and teases what we can expect from the winter classic. Go Kraken!!
The Kraken are in need of some inspiration. We're calling out players and trying to come up with some solutions before a road trip with some pretty strong teams. Plus, we want to see Coach Little Finger start doing some Little Finger things! Ryan's got a new mic, Brett's ranting and Chris backs it all up with the stats which... aren't alllll bad? Go Kraken!!
Brett, Chris and Ryan are joined by Jonny Lazarus from the Blue Crew Podcast. Whats the minimum number of Power Play goals per game? Are the Avalanche the Kraken's biggest rival? And we break the streak by making some bets! Go Kraken!
Release The Show is back, your Kraken are back and we're off to a hot start!! Ryan broke his leg on skates, Chris wants us to know the stats (thats 0 wins, 0 losses - off to a good start!) and Brett still hates the Vegas Golden Knights! Happy Hockey Season, everybody!
50% of the time, we're having a good season. We're hanging out superlatives, who do we think was MVP?
Kanga Gruu! Is Little Finger still Little Fingering? and this is a Kartye Party! Major apologies for the late post - Producer Katie
The Kraken are still in it!! The Link is MISSING, and Katie is back to step in for him. Avs fans are converting to Kraken fans all over the place, Brett doesn't want to hear Boston crying and Chris has the numbers and things the next series can be very "nice". Go Kraken!!!
In true RTS fashion, Brett, Chris and Ryan kick off the show attempting to talk hockey by...NOT talking hockey...but end up talking hockey anyway, because...SEATTLE IS FINALLY A HOCKEY TOWN! Right? And Cale Makar is clearly dirty and the new enemy #1! Right? And our guy Jordan "Dan" Eberle is the current Kraken G.O.A.T! Right? And his game-winning goal is a Top 5 Seattle sports moment! Right??? Man oh man...lots for the fellas to discuss after that amazing O.T. win, baby!
In honor of the playoffs, Brett, Chris, & Ryan (or is it Ryan, Brett, Chris??) break unprecedented ground and finally record an episode...IN PERSON! In the Apartment Studio. Of Producer Katie. And all her stuff. When she's not there. But the guys thankfully stay out of trouble (maybe), Ryan smells terrific, Chris is an AI, and they are definitely pumped over the Kraken's first playoff win in franchise history. Plus, they are joined by a legend--a Spittin Chiclets legend!--in Matt Murley. Murls breaks down the Kraken's win and the betting lines (you're welcome), all while ignoring The Great One, Wayne Gretzy. Ballsy.
Fusilli? Penne? Either way, we're celebrating! Link is in Vegas, and the Kraken are in the playoffs! We're keeping an eye on our goaltenders, giving props to Dan and McCann and Ryan's beer league team is in the championship round. Go Kraken!
Chris and Ryan “The Missing Link” hold it down guerilla-style without “Big Timers,” Brett & Katie, and all the usual bells and whistles. The candid convo ranges from the excitement (or not) of the impending playoffs to shirtless (or not) champagne showers…to Matty F-N Beniers and voting for the Kraken team MVP this season. The Link also gets choked up! So check it out!
Brett's got a big time Hollywood meeting to go to, Chris has the numbers and Ryan's in the Playoffs. Plus, lets get Katie a date with Vince Dunn. Go Kraken!!
The Kraken already knew they were making the playoffs and they've stepped off the gas. What is the mysterious illness that 'Lip has? and we do our best to not talk hockey with our very special guest Geoff Baker. Go Kraken!!
On this episode we're not talking hockey. the Kraken are on a steak! Plus, a beer league hockey update and some rants! Go Kraken!!
A hard episode to start since we've been on a bit of a downturn. Who do we turn to? What the hell? Brett is looking for who to blame, who needs to stay and who needs to go? and Katie is reading rants! Go Kraken!!
What's the name of the theme park that used to be under the Space Needle? This team is playing a bit of a roller coaster with our hearts! What happened? And, is it a sweater or is it a jersey?? Go Kraken!!
Brett, Chris and The Link break down this week's loss over the Islanders and preview the New Jersey game! Plus, should they stay or should they go and some of our favorite Rants from the week! Go Kraken!!
The Kraken finally beat Vancouver and we can officially call it a rivalry. They didn't just beat them, we demolished! Matty B got a cheap shot crack in the ear - we put it on trial. The crowd chanted "Bruce, there it is" at the other team's coach and none of us has ever seen a coach so disappointed in their own team. Their loss, our absolute win! Go Kraken!
The Kraken love being on the road and just came back from a huge winning streak! Unfortunately, they've broken that streak by the time we are recording this episode. Do the Kraken need a star/Name player or are we just as good as the sum of our parts? Katie has been using Ai to write her emails, and Chris performs a dramatic reading, plus, an update on the Missing Link's Beer League! Go Kraken!!
Chris is back with more Berry White impressions, Matty "Baby Face" Breners isn't old enough to drink, but he's more of a man than all of us! It looks like Jones is our guy and it seems like Coach Littlefinger is the Coach Of The Year?! Go Kraken!!
The best NHL DJ around joins the show to talk music and his career fandom. Plus, Chris and Brett got exclusive access at the Kraken game last week AND met the youngest RTS fan, Jack! Plus, can Matty B reach the levels of McDavid? And the Grubauer vs. Jones debate - call him Lip again, our silly nicknames work!! Go Kraken!
