The NHL's Free Agent Frenzy was mayhem and Steve Yzerman was...relatively quiet for the Detroit Red Wings (after bringing Showtime back to Hockeytown, of course). Tune in as we start by discussing the re-signing of Patrick Kane in Detroit, including how the deal came to be, how the bonus structure affects the cap, what this means for the Red Wings forwards including Dylan Larkin, Lucas Raymond, Alex DeBrincat, & others, & lots more (5:30). Next, an overview on some of the massive deals across the NHL (including Steven Stamkos, Jonathan Marchessault, Chandler Stephenson, Jake DeBrusk, Chris Tanev, Brandon Mantour, & so many more) before discussing Detroit's own signings: Cam Talbot, Jack Campbell, Erik Gustafsson, William Lagesson, Christian Fischer, Tyler Motte, & other small deals (11:50). How do they affect the team, replace the offense lost by Shayne Gostisbehere, David Perron, Daniel Sprong, and Jake Walman? After that, an overall view of "The Yzerplan", Steve Yzerman's path for the team, how the cap space can be used for Lucas Raymond & Moritz Seider contracts or trades for players like Zegras or Necas, & more (50:30). Then, an update on the Jacob Trouba situation and the trade that may not materialize (1:08:05), Pavel Datsyuk at Red Wings Development camp with the likes of Brandsegg-Nygard, Danielson, Sandin Pellikka, Augustine & others (1:19:56) before we take your questions and comments during our Overtime segment (1:22:00) - enjoy! Heartbreak for Hockeytown. The Detroit Red Wings came so, so close to making the playoffs. Tune in as we start by lamenting the past few nights (0:00) before giving our thoughts on how the Red Wings just barely missed the playoffs due to the Philadelphia Flyers pulling the goalie against the Washington Capitals, and also give an overview of the final standings in the Eastern Conference Wild Card postseason race (6:05). We then cover Detroit's first dramatic win over the Montreal Canadiens, including J.T. Compher keeping them in it on another off night for Alex Lyon, Alex DeBrincat finally scoring from distance, Shayne Gostisbehere's insane leap to save the game, leading to Perron's great pass for Lucas Raymond's tying goal that set Detroit alight. Then, Lucas Raymond working with Dylan Larkin to finish the job, celebrating Patrick Kane style as Detroit's newest star saved the season again (15:00). After that, Lalonde's squad's next game against Montreal, including Reimer's highs and lows, Moritz Seider, Daniel Sprong. and Joe Veleno scoring, drama as David Perron scored a miraculous late goal and John Tortorella pulling the goalie still afterwards, Kane's shootout winner for naught, and feelings on how the barely missed playoffs played out (27:45). Next, we discuss Patrick Kane's comments and whether he's likely to be signed by Steve Yzerman for another stint with the Red Wings (51:00), and updates on Shai Buium, Simon Edvinsson, Sebastian Cossa, and the Grand Rapids Griffins (58:30). Also, the NHL Draft Lottery (59:35), a look at the NHL playoff series (1:01:10), and lots more before we take your questions and comments during our Overtime segment (1:09:20) - enjoy!
