It's been another wild week around here with the Oilers rollercoaster making another loop, and I've got a fresh episode of Better Lait Than Never ready to recap it all. On today's podcast, I talked about whether the Oilers are actually turning the corner, playing down to competition, some love for Vasily Podkolzin, and much more.We were having a fun handful of days before last night's loss to the Sabres, weren't we? After demolishing the Seattle Kraken and Winnipeg Jets, Oilers fans were feeling pretty good about where the team was at. Unfortunately, feeling better about the team made last night's loss to the Buffalo Sabres land like a Looney Tunes-style anvil on the head. Despite being the better team, the Oilers were outworked for most of the first two periods, setting up another incredibly frustrating loss. And what started as a day filled with hope ended in a disappointing finish that should have been avoided from the start. Getting one point was nice, but missing out on the second sure looks like a problem. Finally, I wrapped up this week's episode of BLTN with a guest Righteous Sack Beating from Dooks, then closed out the podcast with another round of voicemails. The voicemail was hilarious again this week, and everyone's takes were all over the map and very fun to listen to. The voicemail is my favourite way to wrap up the show and give everyone a chance to share their thoughts. Another hearty thank you to everyone who contributed to this week's episode. Having all of you in the mix makes the show so much better.Want to leave a voicemail for next week's show? Do it here!
The forecast has been ugly for this week, as the Seattle Kraken have found themselves in the middle of Losing Streak Camille. That's what the guys are calling it, now that all weather systems get named… naming losing streaks also feels necessary. Anyway, lots of talk about what has been going wrong for the Kraken and how they can fix it. Plus, Seattle Torrent talk, Food for Thought, Weekly One-Timers, and What's Good? SUBSCRIBE! ENJOY! REVIEW!

Is it time that Moritz Seider got more serious consideration for Norris Trophy votes...or maybe an even bigger trophy? Tune in as we begin by discussing the Detroit Red Wings and their crazy shootout loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets, including production from Dylan Larkin, Lucas Raymond, Patrick Kane, James van Riesmdyk, Alex DeBrincat, Moritz Seider, and others, a lack of goaltending from both Talbot and Merzlikins, blown leads and more from Todd McLellan's squad (4:00). Next, the Red Wings' bounceback win over the Seattle Kraken, including an all 2003 Draft Class goal from Emmitt Finnie, Nate Danielson, and Axel Sandin-Pellikka, Larkin and Danielson both returning after being hit by pucks, John Gibson hanging on for the win, and Andrew Copp, JVR, and Patrick Kane (in a classic Showtime moment called by Ken Daniels) leading the scoring charge. Also, notes on McLellan's team's offensive metrics, upcoming games, & more (16:00). We then take a look at Moritz Seider both by the eye test and the numbers this season, whether he deserves serious Norris Trophy consideration behind Cale Makar and alongside players like Morrissey, Werenski, Heiskanen, and others, how he's helped Simon Edvinsson excel, and whether MVP voting is crazy to think about (29:20). After that, Sebastian Cossa, Michael Brandsegg-Nygard, and the Grand Rapids Griffins' record start in the AHL (as well as Rudy Guimond's QMJHL accolades) (39:30), and NHL news including a Quinn Hughes update, Erik Gustafsson trade rumors and what Steve Yzerman might demand in return, and a potential longshot trade target in Phillip Danault (43:10). All of that & lots more before we take your questions and comments in our Overtime segment (54:20) - enjoy! Red Wings vs. Kraken NHL Betting Odds & Picks, 12/6/25 | Night Moves Show by Ramon Scott
It's Friday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio is ready to massage your eardrums with an hour of off-season Oilers talk. On today's podcast, the fellas discussed the Oilers' demolition of the Seattle Kraken, line combos, some injury updates, line combos, and much more.We kicked off the Friday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about NHL players participating in the Olympics after a cryptic message from Bill Daly basically opened the door for missing the tournament unless Italy gets its rink done. Whether you're hearing about the rink being too small or that it wasn't even ready in the first place, there's some smoke around the idea that the NHL doesn't want its players to participate and is using this as an out. Shifting gears, the guys looked at last night's 9-4 win over the Seattle Kraken and how badly everyone needed that win. From the players to the fans, having the boys crank out their first massive win of the year gave everyone a chance to exhale a little bit. From the big dogs (McDavid, Draisaitl, Nuge, and Hyman) cashing in 12 points to the way Matt Savoie could have had a hat trick himself, there were plenty of of positives to take away from one of the most fun games of the season. Finally, we wrapped up the Friday episode of ONR with another round of Ask the Idiots, betting talk for our friends at bet365, and Hot and Cold Performers to look back on the week that was. With the 2025-26 season well underway, the guys spent the bulk of the Friday episode moving through a range of topics, some related to the Oilers and others not, but that's what happens when the team is playing as poorly as they have been.Checkout the brand new TNN YoutTbe channel!drop a link in the podcast episode: https://www.youtube.com/@The_Nation_Network?sub_confirmation=1Subscribe to the Brand New The Sauce With Ryder & Lisa YouTube Channel!https://youtube.com/@thesaucewithryderandlisa?si=hojCkE4S1rFoSnbvSHOUTOUT TO OUR SPONSORS!!Powered by @bet365. Let's do this! The Cult of Hockey podcast. By the Faithful and for the Faithful. Today Kurt Leavins of the Edmonton Journal digs into the Edmonton Oilers 4-0 win over the Kraken of Seattle Introduction: In the latest episode of the Cult of Hockey podcast, hosts David Staples and Kurt Levin delve into the Edmonton Oilers' much-anticipated 4-0 victory over the Seattle Kraken. This win comes at a crucial time for the team, signaling a potential turning point in their season. Join us as we explore key takeaways from the game, highlighting standout performances and what it means for the Oilers moving forward. Main Content: Setting the Scene: The Oilers' Need for a Win The Oilers entered this game with a palpable sense of urgency. As David noted, they were a desperate team looking to secure a victory after a string of inconsistent performances. Kurt echoed this sentiment, observing that the team's determination was evident from the first period, as they played with a level of intensity that had been missing in prior matches. Defensive Improvements: A Shift in Strategy One of the most striking aspects of the Oilers' performance was their improved defensive strategy. David pointed out that the team maintained a key player high in the offensive zone throughout the game. This strategy was exemplified by Matt Savoyie who effectively halted a dangerous rush early on. The Oilers seemed more disciplined, resisting the urge to overcommit to offense, a shift that was crucial to their success. Kurt added that the gap between forwards and defensemen shrank significantly, which contributed to a more cohesive defensive unit. This connection allowed for more effective puck movement and minimized turnovers, leading to a more controlled game. Key Player Highlights: Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Stuart Skinner Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, returning from an injury, was a standout performer. Kurt praised his versatility, highlighting his contributions on both offense and defense. With a goal and an assist, Nugent-Hopkins showcased his ability to impact all facets of the game. David emphasized how crucial his presence is, especially when paired with talented veterans like Matthias Janmark and Adam Henrique. Together, they pose a formidable challenge for opposing teams, especially after facing the top lines of McDavid and Draisaitl. In addition to Nugent-Hopkins, goaltender Stuart Skinner made significant contributions to the Oilers' victory. David noted his improved technique, particularly his ability to "move and set" effectively in the crease. Throughout the game, Skinner displayed impressive puck-tracking skills, making key saves during critical moments, including a tense five-on-three situation that could have shifted the momentum. Looking at the Standings: A Competitive Western Conference As the Oilers look to build on this victory, they find themselves in a tightly contested Western Conference. David highlighted that despite their struggles, the standings reveal a unique parity this season, with only a few points separating the teams in the Pacific Division. This competitive landscape means that a winning streak could quickly change the Oilers' fortunes as they vie for a playoff spot. Conclusion: The Oilers' 4-0 win over the Seattle Kraken serves as a reminder of the team's potential when they play with discipline and determination. Key players like Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Stuart Skinner stepped up to lead the charge, showcasing the depth and talent within the roster. Moving forward, consistency will be paramount for the Oilers as they aim to capitalize on this victory and climb the standings in a competitive conference.
