We went deep into the Dylan Larkin discussion in Episode 129 of The Liberty Yell. We broke down what a realistic trade could be for the almost 30-year-old center, whether it makes sense for the Flyers right now, and how he would fit in with the team. We compared Larkin head-to-head with other (younger) center options the Flyers could potentially look at via trade in Matty Beniers, Mason McTavish, and Shane Wright. We touched a tad on the John Carlson rumors and what we would be willing to pay for the 36-year-old's services, bridging a gap with younger defenseman on the team like David Jiricek and Oliver Bonk. Is it fair to expect Carlson to come in here and fix an extremely broken PP? Are they one guy away? We also discussed the possibility of the defensive core getting shaken up a little here (Seeler, Risto, or maybe even York?). We reached all of your live comments and questions (shoutout Jerry) throughout the episode -- thanks to everyone who took their time to interact with us, it means the world. Is Larkin worth the potential cost? Will he even accept a trade here? Will Detroit even trade him? We got into all of that and a lot more. Subscribe, drop a rating, and follow us on X @TheLibertyYell for all of the Flyers talk you could possibly want EVERY SINGLE DAY.
More trade targets...this Detroit Red Wings podcast breaks down Red Wings trade possibilities other than Petterson - from Matt Barzal to Mason McTavish and beyond. News and analysis digs into Steve Yzerman's middle-tier trade targets, Stanley Cup Final Game 1, NHL All-Star changes, and two prospect profiles ahead of the draft. (00:00) - Intro (04:05) - Matt Barzal Trade Talk Barzal's market is reportedly being explored - what the Islanders would want, why his speed and term make sense for Detroit, and whether the acquisition cost is even close to reasonable. (18:55) - Mason McTavish and Shane Wright A reclamation project breakdown on McTavish coming off a missed camp and contract dispute, plus whether Shane Wright's pedigree is inflating his price in Seattle. Kent Johnson sneaks into the conversation too. (34:05) - Samoskevich and Vincent Trocheck Samoskevich as an RFA offer sheet wildcard out of Florida and why Trocheck's age makes the Rangers asking price tough to stomach, even with the cap-friendly AAV. (41:40) - Stanley Cup Final Game 1 A nine-goal shootout in Carolina with Tomas Hertl burying the winner for Vegas. Mitch Marner enters the Conn Smythe conversation and Nikolaj Ehlers makes his case too. (46:30) - All-Star Game Changes Country vs. country 3-on-3 format returns, the skills competition gets a 25-and-under cap with a $1M prize, and how the league could actually make it watchable. (51:35) - Prospect Profile: Caleb Malhotra Manny's kid headed to Vancouver? The pro-style center, the Brantford context, and whether his floor justifies a top-five pick. (59:20) - Prospect Profile: Alexander Bilecki The Memorial Cup champion Kitchener defenseman as a possible fit at pick 47, with an Albert Johansson comparison baked in. (1:06:10) - Overtime Patron questions on Mavrik Bourque as a 2C solution, the early vs. late birthday draft factor, Jaccob Slavin envy, and more. --- This episode is brought to you by Hims. On hour one of Flames Talk, Pat Steinberg is joined by Eric Francis for another edition of the Eric Francis hour! With the Avalanche getting swept by the Golden Knights, Pat and Eric discuss the connections between the Flames and Golden Knights. They highlight how Flames fans are paying extra attention to the Finals because of the draft picks and former players involved with Vegas. Plus, Pat asks Eric how Vegas has been for Rasmus Andersson, if he would re-sign in Vegas, and how Rasmus feels about the city of Calgary. (25:16) As we move closer to July 1st, Pat and Eric talk about the different ways the Flames can improve their roster either through the draft or making a big splash in the trade market, looking at names like Connor Geekie, Mason McTavish, and Shane Wright and if making moves for one of the young centers would actually make sense for the Flames. We are officially in week two of budget backlash, and both sides seem pretty dug in. Today we’re talking about the disagreements about the capital gains tax - the most controversial part of the budget - and if, as some critics said, it will kill business aspirations. The other news that sparked our interest was the tantalising prospect of the Teal independents forming a party to consolidate their power in the face of a rising One Nation. On this episode of Flames Talk, Pat Steinberg and Logan Gordon take a deep dive into what the Flames could do down the middle with names such as Caleb Malhotra and Viggo Bjorck in the draft or Mason McTavish of the Ducks and Shane Wright of the Seattle Kraken. (33:42) Pat and Logan Gordon are joined by Ben MacBeath of the Calgary Hitmen to talk about the upcoming draft combine and how his future is going to look joining the University of Denver next season. Ben discusses what he is doing this offseason to get ready for his first season in college hockey. The federal government has delivered one of the most anticipated budgets in recent history, with the focus on shifting wealth from Boomers and opening more of the housing market to younger wage earners. Inflation figures were out this week, and it wasn’t good news. Next week’s interest rates figures from the Reserve Bank aren't looking crash hot either. So how do these results impact Jim Chalmers’ impending budget and what are the chances the treasurer will press ahead with changes to taxes and housing? We also chat about the government’s new favourite buzzwords from ‘intergenerational equity’ to ‘resilience’ and what they really mean. And finally, we discuss whether Angus Taylor’s argument that Welcome to Country greetings were overused was a dog whistle from the opposition leader, or reflects a broad sentiment in the community. Joining host Jacqueline Maley this week are chief political correspondent Paul Sakkal and senior economics correspondent Shane Wright.Subscribe to The Age & SMH: https://subscribe.smh.com.au/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

This week we debate the merits of Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s national address before getting stuck into what’s happening with the budget. With the world in a bit of a shambles, we found it interesting that the PM hasn’t totally killed off the idea of reforms in the budget to things such as capital gains tax and negative gearing. But, as our guest and senior economics correspondent Shane Wright says, this is the most difficult budget to piece together since the response to the global financial crisis in 2008. Finally, host Jacqueline Maley and chief political correspondent Paul Sakkal talk about a fascinating interview Andrew Hastie gave recently.Subscribe to The Age & SMH: https://subscribe.smh.com.au/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

HUGH MILLEN's Free Agency X's and O's We have Hugh break down the contributions of the Seahawks six major free agents and take a look at whether or not the Seahawks should bring them back. :30- MIKE BENTON (Kraken Audio Network) Mike joins us with just about 2 ½ hours to go until the NHL Trade Deadline. Will the Kraken make a move in the next few hours and should they? :45- We close out the show and the week with Booze news!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
We are 1 day away from the NHL Trade Deadline as the surprise Penguins are all of the sudden a buyer. But how big of one? Will the Pens go after someone as notable as Vincent Trocheck? We may see Kyle Dubas take it slow and not go overboard, even though the Pens need center help. Shane Wright was a name we broached – a center with the Kraken that is freshly 22-years-old and had 44 points last season. What should the Penguins do with Evgeni Malkin? The guys think it only makes sense to re-sign Geno after the season if he plays well and helps this team make it to the playoffs. Did Kyle Dubas already have another plan in his mind about Malkin before the Penguins season played out? Steelers insider Ray Fittipaldo from the PG joined the show. Ray could foresee Aaron Rodgers giving the Steelers an answer off-the-record like he did last year as this thing could string out for another year. Ray admitted that some of Rodgers' comments yesterday made the situation a little bit more ‘murky.' Ray doesn't expect this to be a question mark until June again this time around. Ray isn't sure how likely it is that any of the outside free agents would come in and be the Steelers QB. Ray talked about the chances Will Howard and Mason Rudolph have to steer the ship. Ray reminded the guys that they will not give Howard the keys without having seen him in any game action. The guys noted that Jacoby Brissett, despite a 1-11 record last season, had numbers eerily similar to Rodgers in 2025. Ray thinks Kenneth Gainwell will explore his market in free agency after winning team MVP. Chris gave Ray some WR names to pick from and he chose Romeo Doubs, thinking he'd be around $15M/year player. How much would the Steelers have to offer Calvin Austin to get him back? Ray said the versatility of Jalen Ramsey allows the Steelers to explore multiple avenues when it comes to the defensive backfield this offseason. Which WR is the best in this draft? Ray is surprised there wasn't more news around Carnell Tate running a 4.52 40-yard dash. Ray thinks WR is the first move the Steelers make on Monday, either via trade or free agency.

Headlines and 12th man news with GREGG BELL (Tacoma News Tribune) - Ken Walker was not franchise tagged yesterday, but can the Seahawks work out a deal with the running back before free agency starts on Monday? - What moves could we expect the Seahawks to make in free agency this year? - If the Seahawks lose Rasheed Shahid, would they be looking to find another cheaper option even though they already have Tory Horton? :30- After a three-week break, two bad losses in a row, then two good wins in a row, we are still figuring this Kraken team out. But one thing that keeps getting mentioned is that the Kraken need some scoring. With the NHL trade deadline looming in two days, do the Kraken need to make a blockbuster trade? Yes, we would be willing to trade Shane Wright, but only for the right price. :45- It's time to get Reckless at breakfast We have already talked about the Seahawks possibly trading for Maxx Crosby, but now it's time to talk about it from the Raiders perspective. We’re on a break over summer, our dear chief political correspondent Paul Sakkal is probably off to a yoga retreat somewhere in Bali, and we return at the end of January for another fun-filled year of Inside Politics. Well, we can’t ignore the impact that Donald Trump had on domestic politics last year and for this episode, we return to a point in time when most of the press pack was obsessed with whether Anthony Albanese will meet with the US president. It finally happened, and we recorded this episode about a week before the meeting would take place. Paul is joined by our special guest star, and economics correspondent Shane Wright, to forecast the details of the meeting, before they argue about Treasurer Jim Chalmers’ abandonment of superannuation reforms.Subscribe to The Age & SMH: https://subscribe.smh.com.au/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
GENE STERATORE (CBS Rules Analyst) - Can we start assessing penalties for bad attitudes? - What happened with that Mike MacDonald challenge/timeout mishap? - Is there a better way to determine the spot of the ball? - Soooo… about that “false start” on the Seahawks? - Tet McMillan got called for OPI, how valid was that? - Would Gene have just let the Ole Miss/Georgia game end? :30- EVERETT FITZHUGH (Kraken Audio Network PxP) - The kraken have no won 7 of their last, so what's the key to this Kraken turnaround? - Can we take a minute to talk about THAT pass from Meyers to Wright? Wow! :45- People can't get away from the anti-Sam Darnold narrative. Can we give the guy a break? He's played in one playoff game! Does he have proving to do? Absolutely, but he's not the only one! Hardcore Football with Hugh Millen! Hugh doesn't like any negative rhetoric around the Seahawks team right now, considering some numbers he has that proves they're a dang good football team. Might have been a lousy game, but they won and it's time to move on. He also acknowledges that the Rams have the right to be called the best team in the NFL right now. He also says it's pretty easy to spot the flaws Seattle has to fix and it starts with the offensive line. Hugh continues with us to break down Sam Darnold's performance and just how important it is to get the O-Line right before the next game. The Daily Power Play! Brandon Montour joins Ian to give him a high-level view of the Kraken season, as they've had a rough go of late. He also discusses his time here in Seattle, how this season is different due to him having been here for longer and what the team needs to do to move forward. Mike Sando, The Athletic takes Ian on a trip around the NFL, which includes the devastating injuries we saw with Micah Parsons and Patrick Mahomes. He goes through his playoff calculator and tells us who has the edge heading down the home stretch. Jason Botterill, Kraken GM joins Ian to address the recent struggles the team has faced and what the team is thinking in the trade market. He also talks about the landscape of the market and what challenges the parity in the market creates. How much communication happens between teams throughout the season? Finally, an evaluation of Shane Wright and the goalies and what Berkly Catton's future holds. Finally, we walk to Softy.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
