Today's episode is with Fleur Snow, Director and co-host, Jeremy Boulton. Fleur Snow is a stage director and musician from West Wales. For the 2023-2024 season, she is resident staff director in St Gallen, Switzerland, and she will take up her next position in the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz, Munich from September 2024. She is an organist and speaks English, Welsh, French, Italian, and German. As a director, recent projects have focused on contemporary opera and historical gesture. These include adaptations of Oscar Wilde's The Duchess of Padua (The Space, London), Jamila Gavin's Coram Boy (Atmospheres, RWCMD) and Dido and Aeneas (RWCMD). Other credits include Julia Plaut's new opera for children, The Y Knot (The Croft, Cardiff); a digital adaptation of Julius Caesar; Ristorante Don Alfonso; Postgraduate Scenes (RWCMD); and Under Milk Wood at Brasenose College. Fleur works in the UK and internationally as an assistant director. This year at St Gallen, Fleur was assistant director for Les Misérables (Josef Köpplinger), Ernani (Barbora Horáková) and Lili Elbe (Krystian Lada). Further afield, Fleur assisted on Evgenij Onegin (Julien Chavaz) at Teatro Massimo, Palermo; Gianni Schicchi (Damon Nestor Ploumis) at Alden-Biesen, Belgium; and the Swedish première of Du Är Min Nu (Gérard Watkins) in the Göteborgs Stadsteater as a 2023 European Theatre Convention Scholar. Today's episode is with Sharon Kempton. Australian born soprano Sharon Kempton, completed a Bachelor of Music Performance and Music Therapy with honours and Master of Music Performance at the University of Melbourne, under the tuition of Kevin Casey, Bettine MacCaughan OAM and the distinguished Merlyn Quaife OAM. Sharon has been the recipient of many prestigious prizes including the German Operatic Award (2001), embarking on her European career, as a member of the Cologne Opera Studio, Germany, followed by an eleven year engagement as soloist at the Hessen State Theater in Wiesbaden. Sharon has performed with Aalto Musiktheater Essen, Köln Oper, Staatstheater Wiesbaden, Staatstheater Braunschweig, Staatstheater Kassel, Theater Ulm, Nationaltheater Mannheim, Theater Osnabrück and Saarländisches Staatstheater, in Saarbrücken. As an ensemble member of Staatstheater Wiesbaden from 2003 until 2014, Sharon performed and debuted forty operatic roles. Her extensive repertoire encompasses the genres of early Baroque Opera, performing roles such as Giunone (LaCallisto), Poppea (L'incoronazione di Poppea), Euridice (Orfeo ed Euridice), Elmira (Croesus), Armide (Armide) and Cleopatra (Julius Caesar) – for which she was nominated 'Singer of the Year' in 2007 by Opernwelt, Germany; through to Classical, Romantic and works of the modern Masters. Today's episode is with Paull-Anthony Keightley. Bass-baritone Paull-Anthony Keightley made his European debut in 2018 at the Deutsche Oper Berlin. He sang in eleven productions with the company before joining Theatre Basel for two seasons. In 2021 he joined the full-time chorus of Berlin's Staatsoper Unter den Linden and recently returned to Australia to join Opera Australia's full-time chorus. Paull began his career at the West Australia Opera, singing the roles of Colline in La Bohème, Parson & Badger in The Cunning Little Vixen and Zuniga in Carmen. He graduated from the Manhattan School of Music and Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, and received awards from the Opera Foundation for Young Australians, the Joan Sutherland & Richard Bonynge Bel Canto Award and the IFAC Handa Australian Singing Competition.In addition to his career as a singer, Paull works as a vocal coach with his husband, pianist Thomas Victor Johnson. Today's episode is with Anna Mahon. Anna Mahon spoke to Jeremy Boulton during their rehearsal period of ‘Les Misérables' at Theater St. Gallen where they're currently working together. Anna Mahon was born in New Zealand and graduated with a Bachelor of Music with Honours from the University of Waikato, where she was also a Sir Edmund Hilary Scholar. Anna was Dame Malvina Major Foundation Studio Artist at New Zealand Opera in the 2019/2020 season and a member of the Freemasons NZO Chorus from 2015 to 2020. She was a popular soloist throughout New Zealand, and has been successful in many regional NZ singing competitions, including first prizes in the Dame Malvina Major Foundation Christchurch Aria (2019), the Norah Howell Award (2017) and the Richard Carey Senior Programme (2017). Anna made her European debut as Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro in Italy (Cosa Rara, 2022) and has appeared as a guest soloist at the Mittelsächsisches Theater (2023). Anna is now based in St Gallen, Switzerland, where she sings as a 1. Soprano in the Theaterchor, Theater St. Gallen.
