Un tajā brīdī mūsu diriģents Florians Helgāts lūdza viņam norādīt, kura tieši dziedātāja tā būs, kura nu tagad to dziedās. Atskaņojam to, kas mums patīk. Piemēram, būs trīs no Hendeļa vācu ārijām. Man bijusi laime to iemācīties, jo man bijuši ļoti labi pasniedzēji.

"The greatest lesson that I learned as a gig singer is that your career and reputation are built one chance at a time. You get one chance and one chance only. If I want people to go out on a limb for me and recommend me for a gig, then I have to make sure that I'm protecting their reputation as well as my own. That starts with never being late, always being prepared, and almost never missing a note." Synopsis In the Guiness Book of Music Facts and Feats, the record for "Most Prolific Composer" goes to Georg Philip Telemann, who died on today's date in 1767 at the age of 86. And longevity gave an edge to productivity: Telemann outlived his prolific contemporary, J.S. Bach, by 21 years, and outlived Handel by 12. But even considering the extra years he lived, Telemann's output is staggering. Of Bach's cantatas, some 200 or so survive, but Telemann's number 1400. He also wrote 125 orchestral suites, 125 concertos, 130 trios, 145 pieces for solo keyboard, and about 50 operas. Most composers (if they are lucky), publish one autobiography; Telemann published three, and commented in one of them, "How is it possible for me to remember everything I wrote for violin and winds?" Sometimes, in addition to composing original music, Telemann was also asked to perform it: "A few days before I play a violin concerto," he wrote, "I always locked myself away, fiddle in hand, shirt-sleeves rolled up, with something strong to calm the nerves, and practice." Fortunately, Telemann seemed to find musical inspiration everywhere, including from the pop and folk music of his day. As he put it, "One would scarcely believe what wonderful ideas pipers and fiddlers have when they improvise while dancers pause for breath.
Interview originally recorded March, 2021.Eleven trips to the Mayan region and an investigation of some 35 years into Precolumbian thought have indelibly marked and changed the work of this U.S.-born composer. Haladyna's Mayan Cycle now stretches to thirty-five highly distinctive pieces, including such titles as Zaquico'xol, El Llanto de Izamal, The Maya Curse Pedro de Alvarado, Pok-ta-Pok, 2012, The Oracle of 13 Sky, Copal, and the Jaguar Poems. Among the most novel features of the Cycle is its frequent use of Jeremy's original scales (three in total) derived from the ingenious math of the Mayan calendar.Jeremy, an accomplished keyboardist and conductor, served as director of UC Santa Barbara's Ensemble for Contemporary Music for sixteen years (2003-2019) and created much of the Mayan Cycle during that time. He holds prizes and academic qualifications from three countries. A laureate of the Lili Boulanger Prize and diplômé of the history-rich Schola Cantorum on Paris' Left Bank, he also holds an advanced degrees from the University of Surrey (U.K.) and the University of California. He taught undergraduate composition to scores of young composers at UCSB from 1990-2019 (29 years) after being named to its permanent faculty in March, 2000. He is now Emeritus Faculty. His own past teachers include William Kraft, Karl Korte, Eugene Kurtz, Jacques Charpentier, Peter Racine Fricker, John McCabe, Sebastian Forbes, and Joseph Schwantner.Pieces, in order heard:Pok-ta-PokMaya Zodiachttps://www.mayancycle.com/https://music.ucsb.edu/people/emeriti/jeremy-haladyna
James and Rita are here to talk about Schola Cantorum's "From Heaven on High" concert on the17th

We are back with the 2nd season of our podcast dedicated to sight-reading in music! It is going to be an exciting season. Our first guest is Alexis Kossenko. « Alexis Kossenko is a multi-skilled young genius whose career will take him where he wills. (…) Few conductors are so compelling to watch, whether by his players or we listeners, but there is no 'showing off' to impress an audience. » (Musical Pointers) We met Alexis in Riehen and had a short interview with him in a cafe before his recording of Mozart Concertos, it was a very inspiring conversation! After that we met at the Schola Cantorum for a short sight-reading session of a Sonata for 2 flutes and Cembalo by Johann Sebastian Bach, BWV 1028, reconstructed by J. Bopp. Born in Nice, Alexis Kossenko performs as a soloist with Deutsche Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, Concerto Copenhagen, Ensemble Matheus, Philharmonie der Nationen, La Grande Ecurie et la Chambre du Roy, Concert d'Astrée, Stradivaria, Barokksolistene, B'Rock, Le Cercle de l'Harmonie, La Chambre Philharmonique, Modo Antiquo, Le Concert Lorrain, Holland Baroque Society, Helsinki Baroque Orchestra, in a repertoire ranging from Vivaldi to Khachaturian including Mozart concertos on tour with Emmanuel Krivine. He therefore recently performed in Berlin Philharmonie, Stockholm Philharmonie, Moscow Philharmonie, Franz Liszt Concert Hall in Budapest, Wigmore Hall and Royal Albert Hall in London, Mozarteum Salzburg, Théâtre des Champs-Elysées and Salle Gaveau in Paris, Opéra Royal and Chapelle Royale in Versailles, Ton-Halle in Zürich, Bruges and Amsterdam Concertgebouw. Fine connaisseur of all the historical forms of his instrument, Alexis Kossenko plays as well on the modern flute (he was awarded from Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris in the class of Alain Marion) as on baroque flute, classical and romantic flutes, or recorder. He is now first flautist of La Chambre Philharmonique (dir. Emmanuel Krivine), Ensemble Matheus (dir . Jean-Christophe Spinosi), Gli Angeli Genève (Stephan MacLeod), Le Concert Spirituel (Hervé Niquet) and from now Orchestre des Champs-Elysées (dir. Philippe Herreweghe), He recorded flute concertos by Nielsen, Telemann, Haydn, Touchemoulin, and specially, for French label Alpha, the complete concertos by CPE Bach, Vivaldi concertos (Editor's Choice de Gramophone) and Charpentier leçons de ténèbres with baryton Stephan MacLeod. As a conductor, Alexis Kossenko was invited by European Union Baroque Orchestra, B'Rock, Le Concert d'Astrée, Holland Baroque Society, Arte dei Suonatori, Musica Viva Moscow ; But it is at the head of Les Ambassadeurs that he undertakes his most significant projects, such as the new series for Alpha « per l'orchestra di Dresda » as well as an intense work on Rameau, Purcell, CPE Bach and Mozart. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexis_Kossenko https://www.les-ambassadeurs.com/ Follow our Instagram and Telegram channels where you can see some pictures from sight-reading sessions and where you can write us https://t.me/insight_reading_enlightenment https://www.instagram.com/insight_reading_enlightenment/ YouTube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgJqHSY4qpaFAU95PaB6AjA Yours Darina and Sebastien #flute #traverso #alexiskossenko #kossenko #podcast #earlymusic #earlymusicpodcast #insightreadingenlightenment --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/insight-reading/message

¡Hola! Julian began his life surrounded by music with his siblings, and was sent away to music courses by his parents, where he developed a real need to make music and share it with others. Between his classical training at King's College Cambridge and the Royal Academy of Music in London, he explored the world of historical performance at the Schola Cantorum in Basel, where he swiftly learnt Swiss German, how to improvise on the organ, and much more. Soon after his studies, on a course with Mary King and Rufus Norris at English National Opera, Julian discovered some unusual tips and tricks he would later apply in his work with singers. Julian now plays harpsichord at the highest level, coaches, and conducts – including his recent acclaimed recordings of John Eccles' Semele with the Academy of Ancient Music and Cambridge Handel Opera Company, and the world premiere recording of Stephen Dodgson's Margaret Catchpole: Two Worlds Apart for Naxos, and is also the Artistic Director of Cambridge Handel Opera Company. You can read more about Julian on his website here , and find out more about Cambridge Handel Opera Company here. John Eccles' Semele, conducted by Julian is available here and Stephen Dodgsons's Margaret Catchpole: Two Worlds Apart is available here
