On the flip side, the guys that checked them all dominated this round. One HOFer and some really good players. I touch on my biggest miss and how it may have been avoided. This is the look back on the 6th round of the NFL draft since 2000. This is the Tom Brady round for those that do not remember.  Guys that don't check all the boxes failed at a near 100% rate again. However, the guys that did check them all, like Brady, had some reasonable success including LeFevour, Gradkowski and Minshew.  The two surprises that made it well without all the boxes checked were from Virginia Tech and West Virginia. - Bartoo

Since the first Playoff Committee rankings in 2014, my colleague Adam and I have had the best behavior modeling record of the PoComm rankings in the country.  With an average miss of .8 (point eight) spots per top 25 team, there is nothing that comes close. We use 8 variables and NO eye test, because there is no such thing. Its like a Bigfoot sighting or unicorn glitter farts, fun but not realistic. BYU is a pain in the butt to forecast with their roster profile but with the entry of Utah into the PAC12, their recruiting started accelerating in 2010 through this year while BYU has seen their recruiting drop to its lowest level this century. Recruiting is not the end all in college football but it is the start of trying to tell the story of where a program is headed, good and bad, as well as their range of potential.  That is what the Matrix tries to do, tell a story.  It might be right or wrong, but it has a reason, which is not a common part of folks talking about college football.  They can tell you what the expect but not consistently why.  With the CFBMatrix, you have enough info that you can almost predict what I am going to say. The Big 12 commissioner has been complaining about conferences not playing 9 conference games like his conference. It must mean he feels it creates a better profile of comparison and a playing field that is more level? If that is the case then the talent and coaching should be closer to level as well. This for the hell of it audio is a look at how I see the SEC realigning to help make that level playing field of schedules a little closer between the SEC and the Big 12

A short intro and back ground to those new the story by numbers ways of the CFBMatrix. About a week ago I tweeted out that every single team in the Pac-12 South is on Pace do you have a average class ranking below their four-year moving average. This is extremely unusual and could certainly be the start of a very adverse Trend in the conference. It's so bad in Arizona that the top 10 ranked recruits in that states are all leaving the state.
