What It Means to Be “Good Enough” With ADHD

---Register today for our upcoming webinar: Webinar: Stop Starting Over! Why Your Planning Keeps Falling Apart — June 15, 2026, 4 pm PT/7 pm EThttps://takecontroladhd.com/gps---"Good enough" is a phrase that can land like permission or like an accusation — and for ADHD brains that have spent a lifetime being told we're not trying hard enough, both feelings often arrive at once. This week, we're untangling that knot. Why does a phrase meant to release us so often feel like settling? Why does the ADHD brain hear "good enough" and translate it into "not enough"? And what would it actually take to reclaim the phrase as our own? This is really all about intention — the difference between walking away from something because you've been defeated by it, and walking away because you've made a choice. One leaves you smaller. The other builds something. We talk about the standards we measure ourselves against (almost always invented), the freeze that comes when nothing feels possible, and the small, almost invisible acts that count as progress even when they don't feel like it.By the end, we land somewhere unexpectedly tender: a reminder that the way we build trust with ourselves isn't by finishing things perfectly. It's by finishing them at all. There's a free download this week — five questions to help you decide what's good enough — linked below.Links & NotesDownload the What Does It Mean to be Good Enough? In Part I, you identified the problem you solve. In Part II, you're defining your first actual product — your minimum viable offer. Most people starting businesses make one of two mistakes: they build everything before selling anything, or they try to sell everything to everyone. Both fail. The solution is to define something specific enough to sell, simple enough to deliver quickly, and focused enough that you can tell if it's working. This episode walks through the 5-step First Product Exercise:Download the Worksheet: https://businessisgood.com/starting-a-single-person-business-part-ii-your-first-product/Step 1: Write your transformation statement — "I help [specific person] go from [current painful state] to [desired outcome]."Step 2: Define your constraint — What's the smallest commitment that still delivers meaningful results? Time constraint (7, 30, 90 days) + scope constraint (one specific outcome).Step 3: Choose your delivery format — Done-for-you service, done-with-you coaching, or DIY program. Pick one based on how people are already trying and failing to solve this.Step 4: Name it and price it — Name describes the outcome, not the process. Price high enough to qualify serious buyers, low enough to validate demand.Step 5: Write the before/after promise — What they have/feel/know before vs. after. This becomes your sales copy and delivery commitment.Your first product will probably change. That's fine. But you can't evolve if you never start.Download the free First Product Exercise worksheet in the show notes.Next episode: Part III - Setting up your platform and building your audience.Connect with Chris Cooper:Website - https://businessisgood.com/

Life is going to have challenges whether we expect them or not — we might as well use them to grow. In this week's episode, John continues his lesson from last week to share a few key principles that impact the joy in your leadership journey. After his lesson, Mark Cole and Traci Morrow share real-life strategies to help you apply these principles in your life and leadership.  Key takeaways:  Growth happens not by avoiding adversity but by doing hard things—so you're prepared to take on even greater challenges. Leaders maximize their impact when they focus on the journey, not by keeping score, but by continually moving forward and celebrating each step.  Generosity and deep joy are fruits of a grateful mindset, reminding leaders to stay present and appreciate the opportunities in front of them.  Our BONUS resource for this episode is the Maximize Your Joy (Part 2) Worksheet, which includes fill-in-the-blank notes from John's teaching. 2026. In this week's episode, John Maxwell is revealing the last three, so you can get yourself around great people!  After his lesson, Mark Cole and Traci Morrow unpack John's lesson so you can apply these principles in your own leadership. Key takeaways:  Being unforgettable isn't about showing off—it's about finding innovative ways to serve others and do for them what they can't do for themselves.  True vision matures when you move from "me" to "we," inviting participation and building energy that attracts great people to your cause.  Leadership influence grows when your inner character and spirit outshine outward achievements. Feeling stuck between your best intentions and your most stressful reactions? We unpack a simple, repeatable way to move from autopilot to intentional leadership using the LEAD framework: Look within, Exercise choice, Act with intention, and Deepen connection. If you've ever prepared carefully for a feedback conversation only to get derailed by defensiveness, this conversation gives you the tools and language to stay steady and effective. We start by demystifying emotional intelligence and emotional agility in plain terms: emotions are signals, not commands. You'll learn how to read your body's cues, name what you're feeling with precision, and use that information to guide behavior. We break down why your brain's fast stories skew negative and how a deliberate pause creates the space to choose your response. From there, we translate values into behaviors you can use under pressure—slowing your cadence, asking better questions, and steering the moment toward clarity instead of conflict.Throughout the episode, we share real-world examples leaders face every week, from giving tough feedback to protecting psychological safety when tensions spike. You'll hear practical prompts like “How is this landing for you?” and “What else could be true?” along with the science-backed habit of “name it to tame it” to regulate your nervous system. The result is a roadmap to build self-trust, become more predictable to your team, and widen your capacity for stress so you can lead with calm, curiosity, and purpose.Ready to practice, not just plan? Grab the worksheet, try the micro-habits, and start building a leadership legacy you can be proud of. Great Practice. Great Life. by Atticus

You can have the best intentions in the world, but without focus, they won't turn into results. In Part 2 of this two-part series, Steve Riley helps lawyers move from insight to execution by designing a practical structure for 2026. Instead of piling on resolutions, Steve makes a counterintuitive case for choosing just two goals: one Great Life goal and one Great Practice goal. Nothing more. He explains why this kind of restraint isn't limiting, it's liberating, and why it dramatically increases the odds of real change. The episode builds on the driving framework introduced in Part 1. Your written goals are the map. Your attention is the steering wheel. Your working memory is the windshield. And your weekly structure is the lane that keeps you moving forward. Steve revisits the four "dangerous Ds" that derail high performers and shows why most lawyers aren't failing at discipline, they're failing at design. Steve then shares practical steering strategies for staying in your lane, including turning big annual goals into small, protected focus blocks, using simple "if-then" plans to recover quickly when distractions hit, and scheduling weekly reflection so you don't live the same year on repeat. Along the way, he shares memorable stories and hard-earned lessons, including why chasing every opportunity is like a dog trying to catch ten squirrels, and how many firm owners end up losing by winning when success comes at the cost of health, family, or energy. The episode also connects these ideas to the My Great Life Focus, designed as a weekly lane specifically for lawyers who want progress without burnout. If you've ever wondered why good years keep repeating instead of building momentum, this episode offers a clear, disciplined path forward and a practical way to design a year that actually moves the needle. In this episode, you will hear: Why great goals fail without focus, structure, and execution The four dangerous Ds that quietly derail progress Why choosing fewer goals leads to better results How to design a personal lane that protects attention and energy Turning big annual goals into weekly focus blocks Simple steering strategies to stay on track without burning out   Subscribe & Review Never miss an episode.
