Welcome to another episode of Y11 Audio! This is Ypsilanti's college football podcast; read Ypsilanti's college football newsletter at Ypsi11.com.It's Week 0! College football is really this week! Ahead of last weekend, I previewed the MAC East with Justin Coffin (of MAC Football Pod). We continued our conversation into today's episode: the MAC West preview.Western Michigan (5:15) is going through a calculated coaching change that should force this team to be better at passing the ball. Will that work in Kalamazoo? Will that work in Year 1? Is Hayden Wolff, the Old Dominion transfer, going to be enough?Northern Illinois (13:34) is a program that will always have my respect, but will this team be any good if Rocky Lombardi doesn't get enough help?I've got a lot of questions on Central Michigan (21:03). I trust CMU to play good defense, but I have no clue what to expect out of the offense. Ball State (28:57) has as much potential as anybody in this division if things go right, but after last year's performance, it's hard to say which direction the program is truly heading in. The team we've all be waiting to talk so much about: Eastern Michigan (37:21). Under Chris Creighton, this program has a winning record and a chance to make the program's first MAC championship appearance. The death star: Toledo (45:12). The Rockets already have some preseason Top 25 votes, but it's still going to have to make some more believers out of voters. That'll begin with a tough road game against Illinois, then it'll be up to Toledo (as always) to not self-destruct its way out of a divisional race. Welcome to another episode of Y11 Audio! This is Ypsilanti's college football show and the official podcast of Ypsi11.com.The 2023 college football season is only weeks away, so let's focus on each of the divisional races within the MAC. To help break down the MAC East race is Justin Coffin, formerly of Hustle Belt and Free on Saturday blogs, currently with MAC Football Pod (I should probably say that I'm also on that podcast.) Kent State (9:45) doesn't have a single starter returning to its offense, so it will take a lot for Kenni Burns to pick up his first career win. Under second-year head coach Joe Moorhead, Akron (15:30) is a squad that we really want to be optimistic for. It helps when Akron has such a talented QB on its side, too.Sure Buffalo (22:57) put up a 50 burger at Rynearson last year, but how much should the Bulls be feared heading into 2023? I'm confident the Bulls will be tough as nails, but I don't know how it'll string together wins in the second half of its MAC slate.Bowling Green (27:22) is a liar and I have no idea what to expect from the team this year. How many marginal improvements does BG really want to stay happy with?Last year's darling team is no secret this year. Ohio (34:37) has maybe the best offense in the MAC coming back, and Kurtis Rourke's bound to be a legit superstar in G5 football. Miami (40:17) has been as consistent as you can ask for, but now it has the best formula a MAC team can ask for: a 4th-year starting quarterback with a 10th-year, defensive-minded head coach. If Brett Gabbert stays healthy, Miami has the chance to have a monster season.Y11 Audio is available via Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and basically wherever else podcasts are found.Reach out to the showTwitter: @ARAlvarado13 | @YpsiElevenEmail: ypsieleven@gmail.com. EPISODE 67 Kurtis Rourke is dealing out there folks. At this rate, he's running away with First Team All-MAC recognition, but will he be able to throw Ohio all the way into Ford Field? The MAC East is bound to be a very fun divisional race this year, but only if anybody can get Buffalo to trip up sometime soon. Miami tried and failed, now the Bulls are already off to a 3-0 start in league play.  Toledo looks damned good this year, independent from the rest of the MAC West, which looks pretty bleak this year.  Twitters: @ARAlvarado13, @Kaleb_M_Carter, and @NIFFOCNITSUJ. It's hard to believe that the end of football season is upon us. Obviously, we still have a lot to look forward to, with conference championship weekend and bowl season still ahead of us. Nonetheless, the last week of the regular season is always a bittersweet time. Luckily, we've got hoops season underway to distract us. To open up this weeks show, Zach and Steve take a look back at week 12 in the MAC. Steve gave his performance of the week to Toledo RB Bryant Koback, who torched the Ohio defense for over 200 yards and four touchdowns. Zach similarly went with a running back, giving his performance of the week to Eastern Michigan RB Jawon Hamilton. Hamilton compiled 179 rushing yards on only 19 carries in the Eagles come from behind victory over rival Western Michigan. For his disappointment of the week, Steve went with Ball State. The Cardinals entered their game against Central Michigan at 5-5 and ended up losing 37-17 on their home field. The Ball State defense had no answer for Chippewas running back Lew Nichols III, who finished the game with 219 yards and three scores. Zach was most disappointed by Western Michigan, who once again failed to find a way to close out a very winnable game. Two fourth quarter turnovers doomed the Broncos in their loss to Eastern Michigan, and a once promising season sunk further into disappointment. To close out the football segment, the boys break down the final week of the regular season. The highlight of the week is surely the de-facto MAC East championship game, as Miami travels to Kent State with the winner earing a berth to Ford Field. Elsewhere, Ball State looks to earn bowl eligibility against Buffalo in a rematch of the 2020 MAC championship contest. To close out the show, Vannzee stops by to break down the week that was in MAC hoops. It was a rough week on the men's side of things, with several MAC squads dropping very winnable games (including Western Michigan's inexplicable loss to Division II Saginaw Valley State). On the women's side of the fence, things were much better, with Ball State and Ohio picking up impressive non-conference victories. As always, thanks for stopping by this week folks. Next week, we'll be back on our regular schedule and will have a full preview of the MAC Championship game. Have a great Thanksgiving, and we'll talk to you then! Learn more about your ad choices. EPISODE 43 In the last episode, I (Alex) said that I probably wasn't going to watch a single moment of Bowling Green at Buffalo. That was a total lie. The Falcons won their first MAC game since 2019 by putting up a HUGE offensive performance against the Bulls, a team that entered the game as 13.5-point favorites.  Scot Loeffler, BGSU's head coach, was ejected for having two unsportsmanlike conduct penalties against him. His team, which he calls the offensive plays for, instantly clicked and put up 28 points over six drives, which is more points than BG has scored in any game over the last couple of years.  Also, I heard you liked chaos scenarios? So I drew up a couple ways for Buffalo and BGSU to still make it to the MAC Championship game this year. And before you rhetorically ask: yes, BGSU can still make it. And yes, BGSU fans will have to stress out over Akron in the process. EPISODE 29 Alex and Kaleb continue with Part 2 of 4 of the MAC Team Preview series with a distinct MAC East rivalry, and a MAC West team that may or may not spoil some championship dreams if all goes right.  Akron (5:03) fans might not want to hear this: the back half of the schedule is a b s o l u t e l y b r u t a l and there's just no chance things will look pretty for your team. I'm really, really rooting for QB Kato Nelson because he didn't simply transfer out when things were starting to look very bleak for that program. He's coming off of a year without playing (shoulder) and I'm hoping for the best for him in 2021.  CMU (16:00) is an incredibly Michigan-centric team in terms of how its roster is built, so I like the team for that reason. More importantly, these in-state kids are really showing out on the field. CMU might be the most physical team in the conference, and that's going to matter. Kent State (31:15) is this year's favorite to win the East with 11 first-place votes from the media poll. Everybody loves that offense, and with good reason! But that defense has me worried. And this schedule isn't exactly set up to be a cakewalk for the Flashes either. JOIN MY MACTION-SIDED DISCORD! EPISODE 28 It's time for MACtion team previews! To start things off, we've got the Battle of I-75 on the brain with Bowling Green and Toledo. Eastern Michigan might have its limits, but that's a team that's fun to think big for.  BGSU (4:17) just absolutely needs to provide something on the field to give us a reason to want to watch this team. It simply has not played well since last decade's MAC East title stretch. Where's the positivity of this group going to come from? EMU (19:17)  has some nice things going, but it's not a complete package. Certainly not complete enough for us to consider them for the title game.  Toledo (42:29) is Alex's favorite for the West, but Kaleb's not sold. Kaleb said he's seen this movie before, so let's not do this old song and dance with this one. JOIN MY MACTION-SIDED DISCORD! Got a two-star review on this here show the other day. The review, which was on the master Mat Talk feed and not this or the master Short Time feed, said they missed the longer shows and these short ones weren’t cutting it. First off, thank you for the feedback. Everyone has different tastes and this format has mostly been agreeable to listeners. This show, Short Time, actually started in this format in November of 2013. It went to interviews when the scores stopped, and the show grew from there. The interview shows aren’t done, but I’ve been busy handling the clients I have with the network. I’m also not going to chase the same interviews as everyone else. Doing things differently is what I’ve always done, but that being said, yes, I miss “my show” with “my interviews.” I’ll be picking them back up here soon, but I’ve always got a lot of irons in the fire. When my time becomes strained, I put my own shows on the back burner. I don’t put Short Time ahead of any other show on the network. These shots keep me fresh, help promote every level of wrestling and keep episodes in the feed. I don’t just want to stop doing shows and then lose the listeners. There’s over 70 wrestling podcasts out there. This was the second one. I know people have come and gone from the various Mat Talk shows. I like this format. I like the interview format, but this is also my business, I have to make sure my time is cost-effective. This is why I pitch the Patreon links at the end of each show. Maybe I can take the time away to develop the show ideas in the off-season, but as my wife says, wrestling has no off-season. I put out 448 episodes in 2019, always putting my clients and affiliate shows ahead of my own. Thanks for the feedback, constructive and positive. It’s all taken into consideration. That long winded intro is by your host, me, Jason Bryant, and this is Short Time Shots, a mostly daily look back at the scores and more in the world of wrestling.  Also, the Attack Style Wrestling Podcast will be coming back with NCAA champion Daryl Weber. We’ll record the first episode in over a year next week.  In Duals: We lead with the first victory in over 60 years for Presbyterian College. The Blue Hose hosted NAIA Truett McConnell on Wednesday and shut out the Bears 44-0. It was a forfeit-laden meet. This is the first year of Division I wrestling for Presbyterian, which did have a team back in the early 1950s. It’s the smallest school in Division I and started both men’s and women’s wrestling this year.  Closest match of the night came in Division II where Indianapolis edged Findlay 19-18 on criteria E - Total number of takedowns scored only from decisions, major decisions and technical falls. Also in Division II, Belmont Abbey topped Queens 36-12. Fairmont State beat Kent State-Tuscarawas, a varsity NCWA team, 35-0. It’s the first win since the program was added back at Fairmont State, but we’re not exactly sure if the Kent State branch campus is actually a countable opponent under NCAA rules. Fairmont State’s last win came at some point in the 1982-83 season. Fort Hays State beat Central Missouri 28-12. Second closest match of the night was in Division III where Pitt-Bradford topped Penn State Behrend 28-27. This one came down to the second criteria, most six-point victories, which favored Pitt-Bradford. Too many forfeits here though. In Division III, Castleton beat Rhode Island College 31-6, Springfield topped Norwich 37-9. North Central topped Chicago 22-15, Otterbein beat Case Western 38-15. Case Western Reserve did get one win on senior night as Connor Forrest got a fall in the first period to push the Spartans past Ohio Wesleyan 27-26. NAIA Cumberland University doubled up Division II Kentucky Wesleyan 30-15. In another forfeit-filled dual, NAIA Warner Pacific beat Division III Pacific 29-9. Just four matches were actually contested.  Rochester (Minn.) blanked Northland, Itasca, Minnesota West and Ridgewater by a combined 227-0 to win their eighth straight Minnesota College Athletic Conference championship in a row. Also in the NJCAA, Cloud County beat Barton 30-21.  On the women’s side, Life picked up a pair of wins, beating Brewton-Parker 49-1 and Limestone 37-9. Limestone also beat Brewton-Parker 38-6.  Notables on the Docket: In Division I, three of the four teams in action are from PSAC, or the MAC East. Lock Haven heads to Appalachian State, while Edinboro faces Bloomsburg.   In Division II, Emmanuel takes on Limestone, Nebraska-Kearney heads to Warrensburg to take on Central Missouri. Out in the Rockies, Western Colorado faces Adams State while New Mexico Highlands, which is in Las Vegas (New Mexico), faces Chadron State.  Decent night of action coming up in Division III as some, but not all, of the matches of note see UW-La Crosse head to UW-Whitewater, Wartburg heads to Luther, Olivet is at Trine, Washington & Jefferson is at Thiel, Alma is at Adrian, Loras takes on Central and of course, I can’t resist the epic battle between the Student Princes of Heidelberg and the Polar Bears of Ohio Northern. In mixed division action, Fontbonne is at Lincoln and Central Methodist is at Westminster.  FROM THE DWN: The Pioneer Press talks with Minnesota heavyweight Gable Steveson about his time away from the mat during his suspension during an investigation into allegations of sexual assault. No charges were filed and Steveson is the top-ranked heavyweight in the country.  Pretty cool story out of West Virginia, well, kinda. Davis & Elkins head coach Jerry Boland spent a ton of time teaching and coaching in New Jersey. He’s got four wrestlers from Burlington County on the first-year team. Five Point Move profiles Alex Sancho prior to Thor Masters.  A day late, but still relevant. The Daily Collegian, the student paper at Penn State, talks about Cael Sanderson and the Penn State take on the transfer portal.  Due to an issue with Mailchimp on Wednesday morning, the Daily Wrestling News didn’t go out. So you may have already heard about the story from NBC Sports that notes Kyle Snyder is living in Cael Sanderson’s basement. For real.  Cody Goodwin from The Des Moines Register is back with his weekly mailbag. No worries Cody, the NWMA awards have been paid for. You won’t have to lie to your parents anymore.  Also from the Daily Collegian was the announcement that super senior Anthony Cassar’s college career is over.  IAWrestle reported the former Penn State wrestler Brody Teske was transferring to Northern Iowa, while Austin Gomez of Iowa State is seeking a medical redshirt.  There was also a pretty cool feature yesterday from Seth Duckworth at the Pistols Firing Blog about Adnan Alkaissy, also known as General Adnan from his pro wrestling days. Alkaissy is from Iraq, was an All-American wrestler at Oklahoma State, and knew Saddam Hussein. Crazy stuff.  On The Network I made an appearance on Purdue’s Always Aggressive podcast, and while that isn’t on the network, whenever I do a guest spot on another show, it’ll show up in the feed.  Cliff Fretwell from Compound released an episode of ThaHustle with North Carolina head coach Coleman Scott. That’s worth checking out.  I’ve also got a new episode of the ODU Wrestling Monarch Matcast with Associate Head Coach Daryl Thomas. Yes, it’s late, it’s cold and I watched Elf tonight. That’s about all you’re going to get for a cheeky intro.  This is Short Time Shots, your mostly daily look at the day’s scores and more in and around the world of wrestling. I’m Jason Bryant.   Minnesota Beer of the Night: Last night, the Facebook Live crowd didn’t get to hear my lackluster review of a beer I didn’t really like that much, which was Tin Whiskers Orange Dream State, which was an orange cream ale. Have no fear, here’s a better review, at least, an improvement as it’s Bad Weather Brewing’s Immortal Toast, a coffee infused white stout. Yes, that is such a thing. It’s surprisingly awesome.  New Patron: As a result of this thing going live on Facebook last night, we picked up another Patron, this one from Lauren Ruppert, the sister of one of my high school teammates and drill partners. What’s interesting is one of my other drill partners, Curtis Booth, lived up here for six months on a work contract. As soon as it snowed in November, he was out! He was about 2 miles from me - he came by the house last week before he left. Good stuff, Bull Island. This is one time you get mentioned in the media and it’s not an Allen Iverson documentary. She gets a glass, a shirt, some other free stuff, and of course, this shout out. “We’s gonna need some mohr wrassler’s on this heah football teem.” Dual Meets: No ranked D1 teams in action, but here’s what we’ve got from around the mid-majors. Gardner-Webb upended Franklin & Marshall 22-18 in a matinee dual in Boiling Springs, North Carolina. Even giving up a forfeit, the Runnin’ Bulldogs won six of the 10 bouts. Franklin & Marshall picked up a win over the first-year program at Presbyterian. The Diplomats beat the Blue Hose - yes, both of those are the schools’ actual nicknames - 38-9.  In other first-year news, Appalachian State spoiled the Division I home debut of Little Rock 36-6 at the Jack Stephens Center. It’s effectively the Sun Belt championship as that all-sports league doesn’t sponsor wrestling. It wasn’t the first major college competition in the state of Arkansas, as Arkansas State had a team back in the 1950s, but it was the first Division I action as there were no divisions back then. Biggest matches of the dual saw Appalachian State’s Sean Carter beat Jaylen Carson at 125 and Codi Russell top Paul Bianchi at 133. App State’s Matt Zovistoski edged Jose Champagne 4-3 at 157. Upset of the night came in Edwardsville, Illinois as Justin Ruffin of SIUE knocked off returning All-American and fourth-ranked Larry Early of Old Dominion 3-1 in the tiebreakers at 157 pounds. ODU won the dual 33-9, but that win at 157 for Ruffin was the head-turner. Also in the MAC, Northern Illinois broke a 13-13 tie by winning the last three weights to top Kent State 23-13.  In the NAIA, third-ranked Lindsey Wilson trounced fourth-ranked Marian 44-4 in a dual at Jeffersonville High School in Southern Indiana. Nothing yet from San Francisco State and Simpson, but San Francisco State did beat Southern Oregon 24-19 on Tuesday night. In junior college action, top-ranked Western Wyoming beat No. 11 Northwest College (Wyo.) 35-13. Keep an eye on this name, though for Northwest College - Majid Muratov. He’s a native of Uzbekistan who was 5th at the 2016 Junior World Championships at 84kg. Muratov is wrestling at 197 and picked up a 2-1 win in sudden victory three over top-ranked Tucker Tomlinson. Oh, how did the U.S. entry do that year in Macon? Zahid Valencia was 7th.  Notables on the Docket for Thursday: Bloomsburg’s at Lock Haven in the MAC East (or the PSAC, whichever you prefer), Rider is right down the street at Princeton - loser buys at Hoagie Haven - while No. 20 Purdue will face SIUE. Drexel heads west to take on Cal Poly and No. 25 Stanford, while Kent State heads to Wisconsin to face the No. 8 Badgers - Mushroom, Mushroom. Yeah, old reference there too.  In Division II, Lander heads to Belmont Abbey, while UW-Parkside heads over to Mankato to take on Minnesota State. Davis & Elkins will go into Pennsylvania to face Seton Hill. That’s the Griffins and not the one’s from Quahog.  In Division III, I mistakenly read Thursday’s matches on the previous night’s Short Time Shots, so mistakes happen. By the way, it’s Mt. St. Joseph hosting a tri with Alma and Penn College.  In the NAIA, Menlo heads to Southern Oregon.  FROM THE DWN: After releasing the men’s freestyle seeds on Tuesday, USA Wrestling and TheMat.com has released the preseeds for this weekend’s U.S. Senior Nationals in Fort Worth in women’s freestyle. Top seeds are Victoria Anthony at 50kg, Dom Parrish at 53kg, two-time Olympic Trials champion Kelsey Campbell at 57kg, Maya Nelson at 62kg, two-time World teamer Forrest Molinari at 68kg, and Final X runner-up Precious Bell at 76kg. TransitionWrestling.com gives us the full entry list for Women’s freestyle at this weekend’s U.S. Senior Nationals.  Timmy Hands at FivePointMove.com does another solid feature, this time on the return of RaVaughn Perkins to the Greco-Roman scene. It’s also time for Hands’ Q&A with WCAP’s Spenser Mango on Fort Greco.  Purdue wrestling returns with the Always Aggressive podcast. No, that’s not on the network, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t listen to it.  Nebraska’s HuskerMat, which produces the Big Mat Show, mostly on Rokfin now, does a free podcast episode with Mike Schadwinkel about his new book Purple Reign. And no, not like Prince.  Brad Wilson of LehighValleyLive previews the Phillipsburg wrestling squad, one of the top programs in New Jersey. It’s also good to see Brad attending events again. He’d spent some time in the hospital and is back out in the gyms covering wrestling. Matt Levins of the Burlington Hawk Eye, that’s in Iowa, profiles the situation at Iowa Wesleyan University and how the school was on the brink of extinction, and now finds itself starting men’s and women’s wrestling programs and getting some help from Dan Gable. By the way, Wilson and Levins are both recipients of the NWMA Journalist of the Year Award in the past.  India.com profiles 2019 men’s freestyle world silver medalist Deepak Punia. Did you know he was the son of a milkman? No, you didn’t. That’s not in the story, but just in case you were wondering. And yes, the Daily Wrestling Newsletter is GLOBAL.  And down US 52 in Rochester, KIMT3 News talks with the Yellow Jackets of Rochester Community and Technical College - the one in Minnesota. Rochester’s news outlets do a pretty fair job of covering RCTC and its sports programs.  On The Network Kyle Klingman and Andy Hamilton debate the nuances of ordering a cheesesteak in Philadelphia and visit with Northern Colorado head coach Troy Nickerson on the latest edition of On The Mat.  Virginia Tech assistant Jared Frayer recaps the CKLV and previews the upcoming U.S. Senior Nationals with a pair of Southeast Regional Training Center members Mekhi Lewis and Ty Walz set to compete. That’s on Inside Virginia Tech Wrestling.  You can get to read those stories and more from Mat Talk Online’s daily wrestling newsletter. This week's bound to be super butt, and that's mainly the cause of two factors: 1. There are two non-conference games happening in late October (Army at EMU, NIU at BYU).  2. Most of the MAC East is on bye to prepare for next week's Tuesday slate (BGSU, Kent State, Buffalo and Miami).  But hey, at least we have CMU vs. Akron to look forward to on Saturday! Thursday we have a pair of games, but only one is worth watching, which is Toledo at WMU. Are the Rockets toast? At QB, there doesn't seem to be an answer. This isn't the time of year where we should be asking that of Toledo, but here we are.  Send mailbag questions to: macprospectus@gmail.com Tuesday Night Lights is a feature of MAC Prospectus and Free on Saturday. This week's big game of the week is Ohio-NIU, which is what a lot of people thought would end up being the two teams for the MAC title game. That's still a likely scenario, but they certainly aren't having very promising performances. We preview all the Week 7 games, but Ohio-NIU is the biggest one in terms of MAC standings implecations. After that, the big MAC East game is Miami-Buffalo, then there's EMU-Toledo in the West.  Send mailbag questions to: macprospectus@gmail.com Tuesday Night Lights is a feature of MAC Prospectus and Free on Saturday. Both divisions in the MAC are definitely something but we have no idea what any of this is supposed to mean. WMU's apparently a contender, EMU's apparently not, Miami is, Akron isn't?  Shouts out to Brad Koenig who caused an interception, received a different interception* and had a fumble recovery between four plays in the fourth quarter at Akron. Then, to wipe it right on Akron's face, Jordan Rigg scores a tuddy. Again.  *- lol sports officiating sometimes, i tell ya. And because of that, the MAC East is... funky. Sure, the West is having a unique race of its own, but it's just a blander version of the teams we were already talking about. But the East is just a mixed bag. Last year, Akron lost to a pretty bad Miami team, then beat the obvious division favorites the following week. This week, Akron plays Buffalo. Have fun with that. Since everybody in the MAC West decided to have a 'down' year, the MAC East is going to have a humongous and entertaining football game featuring the Akron Zips and the Miami RedHawks. Buffalo could be as good as any team out of the MAC East to come away with a banner year and make it back to the MAC Championship game for the first time in 10 years. This year, specifically, will be the most-telling of Lance Leipold's time at Buffalo. Considering the talent on the roster, if he can't elevate this year's team past 6-6, will he ever be able to? Six questions we ask ourselves about Buffalo in the year of 2018: Is Tyree Jackson elite? Drew Anderson played out of his mind last year in place of Tyree for a few games.  He’s gone now, and can Kyle Vantrease provide the same spark if Tyree goes down again? What sort of improvements need to be made on the rush offense? How much depth behind Anthony Johnson is there? What’s the case for optimism in UB’s defense? Lance Leipold looked to be on the hot seat after a 2-10 season, but now has a MAC East contender.  Can he turn the Bulls into a powerhouse like Wisconsin-whitewater? Kent State's favored to finish dead last in the MAC East this year, which has been a safe pick for a few years now. With a new coach, new look, new swagger, new identity and a unique signing class, previewing Kent State's football team was a difficult task.  Six questions we ask ourselves about Kent State in the year of 2018: What can Sean Lewis & company do to make this Kent State program at least watchable? What does Woody Barrett have to do to earn your trust? How many freshmen are going to see the field this year? In which game this year will Kent State have its most eye-opening performance? How many games will Kent State’s offense have where it runs at least 90 plays? Who needs to step up this year? More quick turnarounds for this episode. Thanks, weeknight MACtion! The game of the week is clearly Toledo at Ohio on Wednesday. Ohio will be better-rested than the Rockets by two days and a bus ride. Still, a loss for Ohio would be more hurtful to its MAC East title hopes than Toledo losing and still trying to win the West. How close/far is Ohio from having two 1,000-yard rushers this season? Don't sleep on Akron. Or Miami. Or Eastern Michigan. Or really anybody. (Okay, maybe Kent State). Drew Anderson is a damn baller. In seven overtimes, Buffalo put up 68 points and lost to Western Michigan (71) in the highest-scoring game in FBS history (139). In that game, Anderson, who is the backup quarterback at UB, threw for 597 yards to set a single-game passing record in the MAC. He also threw for seven TDs, 0 INTs and wasn't sacked at all.  Good thing we previewed this game in the last episode, right? Don't worry, there was more stupidity to go around. Cody Thompson's hurt and out for the year, so that's a drag. Ohio, the MAC East favorite, lost to Central Michigan and Bowling Green got its first win of the season over Miami. I guess this means the new top dog in the East is... Akron? Wait, what? Tuesday Night Lights is featured on the Free on Saturday blog. #144: Trena Peel, Head Coach, UB, visits TCRS.  In her first season with the Bulls, Peel led UB to its first ever outright MAC East Division Title and the softball program was named UB's 2013-14 Team of the Year.  Despite being picked to finish last in the MAC East prior to the season, the Bulls finished the year with a school-record 30 victories and remained over .500 wire-to-wire. The team set offensive single-season records for batting average (.266), hits (367), doubles (71), triples (12), home runs (34), runs scored (236) and runs batted in (208).  Peel coached three UB players on to the All-MAC First Team following the season, a first for the Bulls.  In the circle, she coached Tori Speckman, who set UB records for single-season and career victories as well as single-season strikeouts with 228.  Speckman also threw two no hitters during the year. The Bulls shattered their single-season record with nine MAC Player of the Week recognitions.
