Noa Dalzell of CLNS and Nate look back at Boston's surprising 2025-26 season and debate whether the Celtics' success justified—or complicated—the decision to dramatically reshape the roster. They examine how the departures and additions change the roles of Jayson Tatum, Payton Pritchard, Paul George, Mitchell Robinson, and Boston's group of young wings. They also dig into the biggest questions for the Celtics on both ends of the floor, including shot creation, defensive matchups, rotation decisions, and Joe Mazzulla's approach in the playoffs. TRI-CITIES: FROM 66TH TO THE TOP 10 Darrell Ocamica discusses his recent 8th-place finish at Tri-Cities and the adjustments that helped turn his tournament around. After sitting in 66th place, he caught 57 keepers on Day 2 and climbed all the way to 13th before ultimately finishing inside the Top 10. BREAKING DOWN THE COLUMBIA RIVER Despite living near the Columbia River, Ocamica says his tournament schedule and other local fisheries mean he doesn't spend as much time on the river as people might expect. He explains how he targeted current seams where grass met moving water and found productive areas around rock and well-defined grass walls. A jerkbait became an important part of generating keeper bites. NUMBERS VS. QUALITY One of the episode's key tournament lessons centers on the difference between finding fish and finding the right fish. Ocamica discusses how easy it can be to stay with an area producing constant bites. In a tournament, however, catching numbers doesn't necessarily produce the weight required to win. Knowing when to abandon a productive bite and search for bigger bass can be one of the most difficult decisions an angler makes. THE GIANT THAT GOT AWAY Ocamica recounts losing a massive bass he estimated at close to 10 pounds. Landing that fish could have dramatically changed his tournament finish and potentially put him in position to win. It's a reminder of how one bite—and sometimes one missed opportunity—can determine an entire tournament. BOARDMAN PRO-AM PREVIEW Big Ed and Ocamica look ahead to the BAM Pro-Am on the Boardman Pool of the Columbia River. Ocamica believes competitors should have plenty of opportunities to catch fish, making Boardman a strong tournament fishery for both Pros and Co-Anglers. The challenge will be finding the better-than-average bites necessary to separate from the field. Projected competitive weight: 17–20 pounds per day Potential three-day winning weight: 55–60 pounds Weather and changing Columbia River conditions could play a major role, making multiple patterns and backup areas especially important. WHAT COULD WORK AT BOARDMAN Ocamica discusses several techniques anglers could potentially have in play, including: Topwater Jerkbaits Jigs Spoons Crankbaits Rattle traps Finesse presentations Senkos He also talks about how seemingly minor differences—such as the sound produced by different rattle-style baits—can affect smallmouth. WHAT THE SUPER 60 TAUGHT HIM Competing against the BAM Super 60 field exposed Ocamica to different ways of fishing water he already knew. His biggest takeaway: don't develop tunnel vision. Tournament anglers can become committed to techniques and areas that have worked in the past. Watching other accomplished anglers approach familiar fisheries differently reinforced the value of versatility and continued learning. THE MENTAL SIDE OF TOURNAMENT FISHING Ocamica looks back at a difficult tournament experience on Kentucky Lake in 2000 when he went an entire competition day without catching a bass. Those days can be humbling, but they're also part of becoming a better tournament angler. Ocamica discusses the importance of continuing to learn and developing multiple techniques instead of relying exclusively on what an angler already does well. COACHING, COMPETITION AND FISHING Away from tournament fishing, Ocamica is passionate about coaching high school basketball. He and Big Ed discuss the similarities between coaching and competitive fishing. Both require preparation, constant learning, adaptability and the ability to perform when circumstances don't go according to plan. For Ocamica, coaching is also about something bigger than wins and losses: making a lasting impact on his players after their time on the team is over. FAMILY BEHIND THE FISHERMAN Ocamica credits his wife and family with providing the support that makes his tournament career possible. With his 25th wedding anniversary approaching, he discusses how important it is for a competitive angler to have people at home who understand the commitment tournament fishing requires. That perspective also shapes his priorities. Ocamica will miss an upcoming Super 60 event so he can be there for his son's senior-night football game. THE ROAD TO THE BAM CLASSIC The conversation turns toward the BAM Classic at Don Pedro. Ocamica is currently sitting 8th in AOY during the discussion and appears positioned to qualify. Big Ed and Ocamica discuss how Don Pedro could produce an exciting championship, with topwater, jigs, spoons, crankbaits and other techniques potentially contributing to the winning pattern. BUILDING WESTERN PROFESSIONAL BASS FISHING Big Ed challenges more Pacific Northwest anglers to compete in BAM Pro-Am events and earn their opportunity to advance into the Super 60. The discussion highlights the amount of fishing talent throughout the West and the difference in angler recognition between Western and Eastern professional bass fishing. Ocamica points out that building recognizable anglers, tournament careers and a larger Western fan base doesn't happen overnight. It's a long-term process that requires anglers, tournaments and media exposure to grow together. Ocamica's experiences show that success at the professional level requires versatility, decision-making, mental toughness and a willingness to keep learning—even on water an angler thinks he already knows. Joseph Sternberg addresses the looming "year of doom" in 2032, when the Social Security trust fund is projected to run out. Without reform, benefits could be slashed by 22% to match current payroll tax revenues, creating a massive political crisis. Sternberg explores potential remedies such as means testing for high-earners like Elon Musk or raising the payroll tax cap, though he warns these could impact broader economic growth. He highlights the generational fairness issue of asking younger workers to fund benefits that baby boomers were unprepared to pay for themselves. The discussion also covers the rise of Hasan Piker, a popular Twitch streamer who broadcasts far-left economic views to a younger audience. While Piker is photogenic and compelling, Sternberg describes him as a "popularizer" rather than a deep thinker. Piker's pugnacious approach serves as a bellwether for whether radical progressive ideas can succeed in general elections. (5)

D23 2026 was stacked — for the first time in a long while, Disney made major announcements for all six U.S. parks, plus Disney Cruise Line and a full lineup of movies. In this episode, Lisa, Debby, Sharpie and Steve give you the fast, fun rundown of everything that matters, with the context and honest takes you only get from planners who've actually been there. Here's what's coming to the Disney parks (and when): Magic Kingdom Villains Land — a new immersive land roughly the size of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, anchored by a Maleficent family coaster and a Magic Mirror dark ride through the Evil Queen's catacombs, starring Ursula, Cruella de Vil, Jafar, Scar and more. Shops, restaurants, and yes — a villains bar with smoky drinks. Ground is already broken. Piston Peak — Frontierland's national-park-themed expansion (replacing Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island) with a Cars-inspired E-ticket, a Mrs. Fritter spinner, and a Ranger HQ lodge with walking trails. Projected for 2027. Carousel of Progress reimagined — new decades (1960s, 1980s, the Y2K millennium, and a "possible future"), new voices from Jamie Lee Curtis and Bryan Cranston, a rumored Walt Disney opening — and hopefully the same "Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow." Debuting late spring 2027. Disney's Hollywood Studios Monstropolis — "the city frightful" opens in the former Muppets Courtyard (phased, starting 2027). The Globe Theatre welcome show with Mike & Sulley, Archie's Scared Pig Pizza, the Monsters University Alumni Club, Harryhausen's sushi restaurant, and the Door Coaster (a vault coaster that launches riders ~40 feet in about 4 seconds) coming in a later phase. Disney's Animal Kingdom Tropical Americas — Indiana Jones: Rise of the Jade Serpent (with a Harrison Ford animatronic), an Encanto Casita ride-through, a new carousel, and the largest quick-service restaurant on property. Plus — the Expedition Everest "Disco Yeti" is finally getting fixed. Epcot Spaceship Earth gets a "grand and miraculous" overhaul, and Dreamfinder returns to Journey Into Imagination. Disney Cruise Line First look at the Disney Believe (sailing late 2027), a Moana-and-South-Pacific-themed evolution of the Wish class — plus a new, smaller class of ships debuting 2029 built for underserved ports, growing the fleet to 13. Disneyland Resort Tomorrowland reimagining, Avengers Campus expansion and the new Stark Flight Lab, the return of the original World of Color, a new nighttime projection spectacular, and the Magic Happens parade coming back for summer 2027. At the movies: Coco 2, Frozen 3 (Anna & Kristoff finally marry — and Olaf falls in love), a new Ice Age, and Incredibles 3. Today's top stories, with context, in just 15 minutes. On today's podcast:1) Moderate Democrat David Crowley is projected to defeat Democratic Socialist Francesca Hong in Wisconsin’s primary for governor, an upset in a race that became a test of the party’s ideological direction. Crowley had 39.8% of the vote to Hong’s 39.38%, with more than 95% of the expected vote counted, according to Decision Desk HQ, which projected him to win the Democratic primary. The Associated Press also called the race for Crowley.2) President Donald Trump claimed the US had “total control over the Hormuz Strait,” as Washington and Tehran hardened their stances in deadlocked negotiations over the waterway. “We own it,” Trump told reporters at Joint Base Andrews outside Washington late Tuesday. “And at some point, maybe they’ll do something, and then they get blown away.”3) Global oil inventories will tumble this quarter at more than twice the rate previously estimated as the Iran war flares again, even as the hit to demand from high prices deepens, the International Energy Agency said. Oil markets face a shortfall of 1.8 million barrels a day as “renewed hostilities and maritime disruptions” undermine a production recovery, the IEA said in its monthly report. For 2026 as a whole, the deficit will likely be the widest in five years.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Today's top stories, with context, in just 15 minutes. On today's podcast: 1) Abdul El-Sayed is projected to win the Democratic US Senate primary in Michigan, according to NBC, defeating Representative Haley Stevens. El-Sayed will face off against Republican Mike Rogers in the general election. Polls had forecast El-Sayed with as much as a double-digit lead over Stevens. Even with the narrower-than-projected result, El-Sayed’s win portends both a reckoning within the Democratic Party as well as smouldering ideological fissures with the Nov. 3 election looming. The 2026 Democratic primary season has been marked by the intra-party squabble between centrists and progressives over the party’s direction. 2) Oil erased a decline as Yemen's Houthi militant group issued a fresh threat against Middle East shipping, tempering optimism over US-Iran talks. Houthi spokesperson Yahya Saree said the group would escalate attacks on Saudi vessels in the northern Red Sea — a key workaround route during disruption in the Strait of Hormuz. It comes as the prospect of an interim deal focused on the Strait of Hormuz gained traction after Qatar said a proposal had been drafted and both American and Iranian officials sounded hopeful about reopening the crucial waterway. 3) SpaceX stock fell after it disclosed higher-than-expected spending on its artificial intelligence business, dampening an inaugural quarterly report that broadly surpassed Wall Street forecasts. SpaceX reported revenue of $7.8 billion, greater than the $6.81 billion analysts estimated on average, and said it lost 9 cents a share for the quarter, less than the 24-cent loss analysts forecast. Musk told analysts that he expects the cadence of AI development to improve dramatically and that SpaceX would reach a $100 billion annual run-rate revenue by year’s end, which is higher than the $38.6 billion forecast by analysts.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
What's happened to broker transparency? Owner-operators were asking that more than a year ago now, just a few months into the Trump administration, with a late 2024 rulemaking proposal released but no further action then yet taken by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration: https://www.overdriveonline.com/15746061 In this week's edition of Overdrive Radio, we bring transparency up because, yet again, a target date has come and gone for a supplemental proposed rule FMCSA had on the recent agenda for publication in July. I don't have an answer as to a more realistic timeline, but what I can say we've got plenty more evidence timing is on the minds of many an owner-operator. Overdrive's recently released broker-related research report -- https://overdriveonline.com/15829986 -- based on the survey responses of hundreds of you, asked directly for transparency-related viewpoint. More than half of owner-operators strongly favored FMCSA's late-2024 proposal as written, and a third of respondents urged regulators to "move faster to finalize the proposal and get it across the finish line." There's evidence, too, that more owners have moved beyond worries over transparency to bypass the broker altogether in efforts to secure direct freight. For owner-operators with active businesses among survey respondents, few relied on just a single broker, and 60% reported at least some direct customers. That number's up since we last asked the question about freight partners more than two years ago now in early 2024. Today on the podcast, we're stepping back in time again to 2024, for the second part of my long talk with small fleet owner Surinder Gill of Gill Freightines. If you missed the part 1 re-air last week, find it here: https://overdriveonline.com/15669109 If Gill's made good on goals voiced back then, he's now among owners who've made it a priority to get past bottom-dollar brokers and build that long-term direct business to sustain. As he put it last year, effectively, speaking for himself and similarly situated small fleets: "Hey shippers, we're out here!" Ready to do business, ready to serve. Step back in time with him here today, and keep in mind the time period of the original airing in late-April 2024, again, with mentions of the Convoy brokerage's collapse and all the money owed to Gill, and his efforts at recourse. There are a myriad potential avenues in that regard when a broker fails or simply walks away from the deal at delivery and disappears. Find your owner-operator peers' experience charted extensively in the new report. You can download it via this link: https://overdriveonline.com/15829986 More insight on getting closer to those direct customers in these two parts of Overdrive's Partners in Business library, a comprehensive guide to owner-operator carreers: https://overdriveonline.com/15708141 Subscribe to Overdrive's daily newsletter for trucking news and analysis: https://bit.ly/overdrivesubscribe
Ellen Coyne and Jack Horgan-Jones join Hugh Linehan to look back on the week in politics:It was revealed this week that the planned Dublin Metrolink could cost up to €19 billion. The last Metrolink estimates from 2022 suggested €9.5 billion as the midpoint of a “credible” cost range of between €7.16 billion and €12.25 billion. The increasing cost echoes the National Children's Hospital and its umpteen budget increases – a saga that damaged the public's trust in the State's ability to deliver large necessary projects in a timely and cost-effective manner. The latest data from the Climate Change Advisory Council suggests the Government's target of 400,000 heat-pump installations by 2030 is all but impossible at this stage. They are calling for a twentyfold increase in the pace of delivery, plus a surge in general home retrofits. The German chancellor Friedrich Merz was welcomed to Dublin by Taoiseach Micheál Martin on Tuesday where he delivered a speech on the need for a more austere approach to the common EU budget. The decision to speak entirely in German was not helped by malfunctioning translation devices given out to the Taoiseach and those present. The State has been urged to buy the lands of former Bessborough mother and baby home to create memorial park. This comes after planning permission was granted for more than 100 apartments on the Cork site. And more than 300 former members of the Christian Brothers will be summonsed through an advertisement in a national newspaper. The move was prompted by the fact that the Christian Brothers is an unincorporated association, meaning there is no legal entity that can be directly sued by people taking it to court.Would you like to receive daily insights into world events delivered to your inbox? The Giants have improved their roster and replaced the coaching staff, but outside evaluations still view them as a bottom-third NFL team. PFF projects only 7.36 wins, while ESPN ranks New York's starting lineup 23rd. Would seven victories represent meaningful progress, or confirm that too many roster weaknesses remain?Follow the show on Spotify, and leave a five-star rating and review on Apple Podcasts to help more Giants fans find us.Drew and Rob break down the Giants' decision to claim defensive tackle C.J. Ravenell off waivers and waive/injure cornerback Rico Payton. Ravenell has previous connections to both John Harbaugh and Dennard Wilson, but his addition also reinforces concerns about a defensive-tackle group already viewed as the roster's biggest weakness. The episode examines the Giants' projected win total, their No. 23 starting-lineup ranking and the contrast between an elite edge-rusher group and an uncertain interior defensive line. Isaiah Likely's potential role, Darius Alexander's development and several other possible breakout players are also discussed. The conversation then turns to three players entering critical seasons. Jalin Hyatt faces a crowded receiver room after producing only five catches last year. Jon Runyan could become a trade or cut candidate, with the Giants able to create $9.25 million in savings. John Michael Schmitz may also need to prove his long-term value before receiving a new contract. The show closes with JuJu Smith-Schuster's upcoming wedding and his connection to Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift's celebration. This is the audio from the latest live show.Merch: https://2giantgoofballs-shop.fourthwall.com/Support: https://buymeacoffee.com/2giantgoofballsAll episodes: https://2giantgoofballs.buzzsprout.com/Send us Fan MailSupport the show

This week on the Going Deep podcast, Brandon Angelo and Matt Waldman examine the target potential for three teams and rookies who might earn more playing time this year than we originally thought. https://youtu.be/N7lJIQpoF5s Topics The Jaguars Passing Game Why Brian Thomas, Jr.'s camp hasn't swayed Brandon about Thomas' fit in the offense. Why Brandon and Matt believe the passing game will work through Parker Washington. Travis Hunter isn't going to make a significant offensive impact in 2026. Projected target distribution. The Cardinals Passing Game Where Brandon and Matt disagree on who earns the most targets after Trey McBride Why Michael Wilson's projected Puka Nacua role could lead to another WR1 season. Why a potential QB change midseason could be less impactful to the top-two passing game options than most think. Projected target distribution. The Giants Passing Game Matt Nagy's impact and the built-in redundancy factor on staff to supplant Nagy quickly. The safest, most boom-bust, and riskiest fantasy options after Cam Skattebo -- not including Jaxson Dart. Projected target distribution. Rookies we believe could have an earlier impact than expected. In this episode, Alex Pardo reconnects with Dan to dig into the financial and strategic reality of his 28,000-square-foot storage facility under contract for $2.625M. This is part 3 of a multi-part series, and the conversation gets raw and unfiltered as they work through the deal's tightest challenge: Dan's initial miss on revenue ramp timing and how it impacts his cash flow projections and partnership structures. Alex uses this live deal walkthrough to unpack the critical thinking required before committing capital and equity to a first storage facility. It's messy, it's real, and it's exactly how serious operators need to evaluate opportunities before pulling the trigger. You'll Learn How To: Understand revenue ramp dynamics and why projections don't happen overnight Evaluate whether a deal is worth equity and capital when returns are below market expectations Structure deals with debt and equity partners to manage cash flow gaps Identify when an interest rate or term change becomes a caution flag in a deal Design a facility exit strategy before you sign the purchase agreement Run conservative, likely, and best-case scenarios without falling into best-case bias Know the difference between doing a deal for experience and doing the right deal for returns What You'll Learn in This Episode [00:00] Alex and Dan discuss the three-part series on Dan's 28K sq ft facility deal under contract [01:10] The critical oversight: revenue doesn't jump immediately when you raise rates, it ramps slowly [02:00] How a 2-3 person per month net move-in creates negative cash flow for 5–10 months [03:29] Dan's mixed emotions: value of the first deal vs. whether the juice is worth the squeeze [04:01] Equity structure options: 40% equity with 8% preferred return vs. 12% interest-only with smaller equity [05:41] Projected returns: 9–11% cash-on-cash over five years, annualized 17–18% (below market expectations) [06:37] Alex's philosophy: first deal doesn't need to be a home run, but it has to be a base hit with low risk [08:05] Alex's cautionary tale: his early deals in certain markets he wouldn't repeat, but bar was lower because he was learning [09:24] The decision framework: enough due diligence to confidently move forward or walk away with reason [14:15] Where community homework and market analysis become invaluable in deal evaluation [16:03] Revenue ramp isn't a light switch: it's a slow burn that models must account for with conservative assumptions [16:49] Conservative, likely, and best-case scenarios: don't make offers expecting everything goes right [17:02] Going back to the seller after due diligence to renegotiate price, terms, or structure [17:25] Interest rate sensitivity: if 70–80 basis points breaks the deal, it's a yellow flag [18:34] Partnership scenarios: 40% equity vs. 20–30% equity depending on your time and value contribution [19:15] Exit strategy before entry: you determine how you exit, and rarely do you buy and operate forever Who This Episode Is For: First-time storage investors evaluating their first deal and unsure if the numbers work Operators with a property under contract trying to decide between partnerships, debt, or walking Investors who've been analyzing deals but haven't pulled the trigger and need a reality check Deal makers questioning whether their first facility has to be a grand slam or just a win Real estate operators learning the difference between deal experience and deal returns Anyone struggling with confidence on deal evaluation, market selection, or partnership structures Why You Should Listen: This episode does something most storage content doesn't: it shows you the real conversation a smart operator has when a deal is tight, promising, but not yet perfect. Alex doesn't tell Dan "do it" or "don't do it." Instead, he walks him through the thinking process—how to weigh risk, returns, equity dilution, and the value of your first facility against the need to protect your capital and time. The key insight here is revenue ramp. It's the single detail that shifted Dan's deal from "looks good" to "needs more work." In self-storage, you don't buy a 60% occupied facility at a certain price, make some operational improvements, and suddenly it's 90% occupied next month. It takes time. Every month you're adding a few units, pushing rates on the existing base, and slowly building to your pro forma. If your financing doesn't account for that reality, your deal can go negative cash flow for longer than your capital can sustain. The broader lesson is this: your first storage deal should absolutely get you on base. It should teach you how to find, evaluate, underwrite, and operate a self-storage facility. But it shouldn't be a financially reckless trade just to check the box. Do the first one right, and you'll be confident to repeat it faster. Do the first one wrong, and you might be out capital, confidence, and momentum. Follow Alex Pardo here: Storage Wins Podcast — storagwins.com Facebook — Storage Wins Community (join the group for continued learning and peer support) Instagram — @alexcpardo YouTube — Storage Wins Doing your first storage facility is a big decision, and the temptation to move fast is real. But as Alex reminds Dan, there's no rush. You're not trying to do a deal for the sake of doing a deal. You're trying to do the right deal at the right time with returns that actually work. If you're ready to evaluate your first storage opportunity with clarity and confidence, head over to storagwins.com/call to schedule a free discovery call with Alex and explore whether self-storage is the right next move for you. The only thing standing between you and your goals is action.
Gordon Chang and Charles Burton describe the Trump-Xi summit as political theater where China projected strength despite economic weaknesses. Concerns exist that support for Taiwan may become a transactional bargaining chip in future trade deals. (7/16)1960 SUKARNO IN HAVANA
