In Class With Carr 304, with Dr. Greg Carr and Karen Hunter, opens the new year by naming our unavoidable choices in a moment of U.S. imperial desperation. The session centers our obligation to renew commitment to collective study as an act of courage and discipline, as U.S. bombs fall in Venezuela and Nigeria and a fear-driven minority attempts to sabotage people-centered local and national power. We reflect on the historic swearing-in of New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, signaling shifting possibilities in the U.S. social structure, while recalling fellow New Yorker John Henrik Clarke's call to situate our efforts to transform society within the latitude and longitude of our long memory. We close by naming the work ahead: deeper study pathways, shared learning experiences, living archives, and collective frameworks to continue to enhance the momentum of memory, raise standards, and move knowledge into coordinated action. Are you a member of Knarrative? What if the longer periods of darkness during winter could be our teacher? In this episode, host Elizabeth Mintun reflects on stillness, renewal, and possibility during late December. Drawing from timeless wisdom - the Northern European tradition of the Twelve Nights and the Inuit story of Sedna's descent into the deep - Elizabeth explores how darkness, pause, and reflection are essential parts of growth. These stories illuminate the ways that slowing down, observing inner patterns, and cultivating clarity prepare us for meaningful beginnings. This episode is perfect for anyone seeking calm, grounding, and mindful presence during a season that can feel emotionally heightened, complex, or tender.Key TakeawaysBy honoring the quiet and slowing down, you create space for clarity, renewal, and the unfolding of what's next.Though the spaces of uncertainty during times of change, transition, or decision-making can be quite uncomfortable, it can be very helpful to breathe through the discomfort rather than trying to “hop over it”. Notice if you're experiencing a push for “resolutions” and see how possible it might be to offer yourself ease and open curiosity about how you'd like to unfold in the coming year. Notice what emerges inwardly as you practice this curiosity and openness. You'll also get practical tools like the Odyssey Plan exercise, the Five Minute Journal, and a simple gut-check that can change how you treat yourself in the new year. In this episode, Steve Fretzin and Alefiyah Lindo discuss:Planning the future by evaluating what actually workedSupporting happiness without trying to control itUsing energy as a diagnostic tool for alignmentTreating burnout as feedback and adjusting accordingly Key Takeaways:Reviewing the past year reveals which habits, strategies, and commitments deserve to continue and which do not. Entering a new year without reflection leads to repeating default patterns rather than making intentional choices. Sustainable growth comes from consistency and long-term relationship building, not one-off efforts. You cannot create happiness for others, only support their ability to create it themselves. Taking responsibility for other people's emotional outcomes leads to exhaustion and blurred boundaries. Healthy leadership and parenting require allowing others to experience discomfort and self-direction.Alignment exists when beliefs, words, actions, and emotions are consistent with one another. Chronic fatigue, burnout, and self-sabotage are indicators of misalignment rather than laziness or failure. Tracking what energizes and depletes you provides clearer guidance than what you think you “should” enjoy.Burnout signals a need to realign priorities, responsibilities, and expectations. Bringing subconscious patterns into conscious awareness is a prerequisite for lasting change. Different results require different actions, even when those actions challenge long-held assumptions. "Energy work really is when what we believe, what we say, what we do, and what we feel are all on the same page. What if peace in your life, and peace in the world, begins with the smallest shifts inside of you? In this episode, host Elizabeth Mintun weaves together two timeless folktales, the Taoist story of the Useless Tree and the Cherokee legend of the Two Wolves. Together, these stories illuminate how slowing down, regulating our inner world, and choosing compassion over urgency creates the foundation for lasting calm. Elizabeth talks about how, as we step toward a new year, many of us are craving more peace in our relationships, our homes, and in the world. She suggests that peace doesn't begin with resolutions or perfect habits. It begins within. And when we nurture it gently and consistently, it ripples outward in ways we may never fully see.Key TakeawaysInner peace is grounded self-connection.True inner peace can come from staying connected to yourself, even when life feels busy, emotional, or uncertain. What you feed internally shapes your emotional well-being. Inner peace grows from daily choices, such as where you place your attention, how you respond to stress, and which inner patterns you nurture.Rest and slowness are essential for mental and emotional health. In a productivity-driven culture, creating space, slowing down, and tending to your nervous system are necessary for sustainable peace.Resources Sign up for Intentional 2026: 3 Days to Reset & Realign here.Learn more about 1:1 Coaching with Elizabeth Mintun here. As the year comes to a close, this episode is an invitation to slow down instead of rushing forward. Rather than forcing resolutions or trying to become a “new version” of yourself overnight, we explore how to end the year softly, with gratitude, honesty, and nervous-system safety, and how that creates the most aligned beginnings. In this episode, Dorothy reflects on two very different energies of desire: wanting from lack versus wanting from abundance and curiosity. She shares why desires don't arrive on January 1st, how identity shapes aligned action, and why real change comes from how you feel, not how hard you push. This conversation is a grounding pause before the noise of the new year, and a reminder that you don't need fixing, only permission to arrive. In This Episode, We Explore: Why a soft ending matters more than a rushed beginning How to reflect on the year with gratitude (without gaslighting yourself) The difference between desiring from lack vs desiring from abundance Why “wouldn't it be fun if…” is a powerful energetic shift How alignment creates change more sustainably than motivation A gentler perspective on weight loss and January pressure Why your desires unfold through identity, not deadlines Key Takeaway: How you end the year sets the tone for what unfolds next and softness is not a delay, it's a foundation.

You can be living what looks like a meaningful life, and *still* feel tired, disconnected, and burned out. In today's episode, I'm sharing a very helpful perspective through the lens of Ayurveda that has helped me reframe the “burned out” feeling I used to get on this journey. We're going to talk about the Ayurvedic Doshas: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha, but less as a mind-body constitution and more as natural phases we move through while living out our life purpose. I'll share why seeing purpose in this way- as a cyclical process that includes seasons of creativity, action, and rest- can help us feel more empowered in sharing our life mission. We're going to dive into how chronic stress, burnout, and feeling out of alignment can come from ignoring our own mind-body-soul rhythms that naturally guide us through the years. Ayurveda, in particular, is such an amazing tool for us to know when it's time to fuel the dreams, put the pedal to the metal, or when to slow down (and without feeling guilty or like our dream life will be stalled). Press play, and let this episode remind you that you're never truly “behind” in living your purpose, you can just be moving through a new and renewing season!===Connect with me for daily inspiration, resources, and upcoming events to live your purpose:www.amandavsevilla.com/  Instagram.com/flourishwithpurposepodcast/Instagram.com/amandavsevilla/Tiktok.com/@amandavsevilla/Youtube.com/@amandavsevillaBy accessing this Podcast, I acknowledge that the entire contents are the property of Amanda Sevilla, or used by Amanda Sevilla with permission, and are protected under U.S. and international copyright and trademark laws. If you've ever whispered, “God, just tell me what to do…” this episode will land deeply. In this week's conversation on Trusting Dorothy, we explore one of the most common experiences we all face: feeling stuck, waiting for clarity, craving direction, and longing for signs. This episode was inspired by a powerful real-life conversation, one that mirrored the way so many women navigate career changes, identity shifts, money beliefs, and the pressure to “figure it out.” Inside this episode, we explore: ✨ Why the in-between seasons feel so uncomfortable ✨ Why we often think the next job, income level, or external shift will fix everything ✨ What it means to co-create your life with God ✨ The truth behind asking for signs (and choosing signs on purpose) ✨ How your nervous system impacts intuition and decision-making ✨ The identity shift required before new outcomes can arrive ✨ Why slowing down is not failure, it's guidance And a reframe that changes EVERYTHING: “A lot of the time we're not waiting for God. God is waiting for us to get quiet enough to hear what we already know.” Resources & Links: Within: a 21 day return to self→https://www.dorothymcgatlin.com/within Move your body with me inside The Lift Library → HERE Join Peace & Prosperity 1:1 Coaching – Six Weeks to Regulate, Realign & Receive _____________________________________________________ Click HERE for the Show Notes. In this, soul-led episode of Trusting Dorothy, we explore what your body truly desires, and why your soul cares far more about you feeling good, safe, and alive than it ever will about a number on the scale. Dorothy breaks down how to untangle your true inner desires from the noise of social conditioning, why feeling good must become your baseline (not a reward), and how nervous-system regulation is the missing link in sustainable wellness, weight loss, and self-trust. Whether you're soul-curious, soul-led, or simply wanting to feel at home in your body again, this episode will bring deep clarity, calm, and inspiration. How to Rewrite the Standards You Live By and Create a Life That Feels So Good This week's episode of Trusting Dorothy, is sharing part 1 of the Make the Rules Masterclass, a transformative approach to rewriting the rules that shape your daily life, your beliefs, and your relationship with abundance, peace, and self-trust. Learn how to shift outdated patterns, create rules that support your highest good, and align your nervous system with the life you want to live. Today's episode is a little different, and honestly, perfectly aligned. I accidentally recorded the Make the Rules Masterclass twice… and the second recording felt so aligned, so grounded, and so true, that I knew I needed to share it here on the podcast. Inside this episode, you'll hear: ✨ Why so many of us live by rules we never consciously chose ✨ The difference between beliefs and rules (and why rules feel easier to change) ✨ How old rules slip in because of nervous system safety, not failure ✨ What it looks like to rewrite your rules from peace, alignment, and self-trust ✨ Why abundance, worthiness, and ease start with the rules you choose ✨ How to feel into new rules before the evidence arrives Whether you're shifting in business, body, money, relationships, motherhood, or all of the above, this masterclass will give you the language, the clarity, and the calm you've been craving. And because you're a podcast listener, I have a gift for you… FREE “Make the Rules” Guide + Bonus Training If you want to go deeper, I created a PDF guide with:

THE Leadership Japan Series by Dale Carnegie Training Tokyo, Japan

When markets are kind, anyone can look like a genius. The test arrives when conditions turn—your systems, skills, and character decide what happens next.  What are the five drivers every leader must master? The five drivers are: Self Direction, People Skills, Process Skills, Communication, and Accountability. Mastering all five creates resilient performance across cycles. In boom times (think pre-pandemic luxury hotels in Japan) tailwinds mask weak leadership; in shocks (closed borders, supply chain crunches) only strong drivers keep teams delivering. As of 2025, executives in multinationals, SMEs, and startups alike need a balanced "stack": vision and values (Self Direction), talent and trust (People), systems and analytics (Process), clear messaging and questions (Communication), and personal ownership (Accountability). If one leg is shaky, the whole table wobbles. Do now: Score yourself 1–5 on each driver; identify your lowest two and set 30-day improvement actions.  Mini-summary: Five drivers form a complete system; strength in one can't compensate for failure in another. How does Self Direction separate steady leaders from "lucky" ones? Self-directed leaders set vision, goals, and culture—and adjust fast when reality bites. Great conditions or an inherited A-team help, but hope isn't a strategy. As markets shift in APAC, the US, or Europe, leaders with grounded values and a flexible ego change course quickly; rigid, oversized egos drive firms off cliffs faster. The calibration problem is real: we need enough ego to lead, not so much that we ignore evidence. In practice that means owner-dated goals, visible trade-offs, and a willingness to reverse a decision when facts change. Do now: Write a one-page "leader operating system": purpose, top 3 goals, non-negotiable values, and the conditions that trigger a pivot.  Mini-summary: Direction + adaptability beats bravado; values anchor the pivot, not the vanity. Why are People Skills the new performance engine? Complex work killed the "hero leader"; today's results flow from psychologically safe, capability-building teams.Whether you run manufacturing in Aichi, B2B SaaS in Seattle, or retail in Sydney, you need the right people on the bus, in the right seats. Trust is the currency; without it, there is no team—only compliant individuals. Servant leadership isn't slogans; it's practical: career conversations, strengths-based job fit, and coaching cadences. Climbing over bodies might have worked in 1995; in 2025 it destroys engagement, innovation, and retention. Do now: Map your team on fit vs. aspiration. Realign one role this fortnight and schedule two growth conversations per week for the next month.  Mini-summary: Build safety, match talent to roles, and coach growth; teams create the compounding returns, not lone heroes. What Process Skills keep quality high without killing initiative? Well-designed systems prevent good people from failing; poor processes turn stars into "low performers." Leaders must separate skill gaps from system flaws. Mis-fit is common—asking a big-picture creative to live in spreadsheets, or a detail maven to blue-sky strategy all day. Across sectors, involve people in improving the workflow; people support a world they help create. And yes, even "Driver" personalities must wear an Analytical hat for the numbers that matter: current, correct, relevant. Toyota's jidoka lesson applies broadly: stop the line when a defect appears, then fix root causes. Do now: Run a 60-minute process review: map steps, assign owners, check inputs/outputs, and identify one automation or simplification per step.  Mini-summary: Design beats heroics; match roles to wiring, make data accurate, improve the system with the people who run it. How should leaders communicate to create alignment that sticks? Great leaders talk less, listen more, and ask sharper questions—then verify that messages cascade cleanly.Communication isn't a TED Talk; it's a discipline. Listen for what's not said, surface hidden risks, and test understanding down the line. In Japan, nemawashi-style groundwork builds alignment before meetings; in the US/EU, crisp owner-dated action registers keep pace high without rework. In regulated fields (finance, healthcare, aerospace), clarity reduces audit friction; in creative and GTM teams, it accelerates experiments. Do now: Install a weekly "message audit": sample three layers (manager, IC, cross-function) and ask them to restate priorities, risks, and decisions in their own words.  Mini-summary: Listen deeply, question precisely, and ensure the message survives the org chart; alignment is measured at the edges. Where does Accountability start—and how do you make it contagious? Accountability starts at the top: the buck stops with the leader, without excuses—and then cascades through coaching and controls. As of 2025, boards and regulators demand both outcomes and evidence. Strong leaders admit errors quickly, fix them publicly, and maintain systems that track results and compliance. Accountability isn't blame; it's ownership plus support: clear goals, training, checkpoints, and consequences. In startups, this prevents "move fast and break the law"; in enterprises, it fights bureaucratic drift. Do now: Publish a one-page scoreboard each Monday (KPIs, leading indicators, risks) and hold a 15-minute review where owners report facts, not stories.  Mini-summary: Model ownership, build coaching and monitoring into the cadence, and make evidence a habit—not a surprise inspection. How do you integrate the five drivers across markets and company types? Balance is contextual: tighten controls in high-risk/low-competency zones; grant autonomy in low-risk/high-competency zones. Multinationals can borrow playbooks (RACI, stage gates), but SMEs need lightweight equivalents to preserve speed. Startups should resist the "super-doer" trap by delegating outcomes early; listed firms should fight analysis paralysis by protecting experiments inside guardrails. Across Japan, the US, and Europe, leaders who pair people development with process discipline outperform through cycles because capability compounds while compliance holds. Do now: Build a "risk × competency" grid for your top workflows and adjust oversight accordingly within 48 hours. Review monthly as skills rise.  Mini-summary: Tune people and process to context; move oversight with risk and capability, not with habit. Conclusion: strength in all five, not perfection in one Leadership success is engineered, not gifted by luck. When conditions turn, Self Direction provides the compass, People Skills provide power, Process Skills provide traction, Communication provides cohesion, and Accountability provides grip. Work the system, in that order, and your organisation will keep moving—legally, safely, profitably—even when the weather's foul.  Author Credentials Dr. Greg Story, Ph.D. in Japanese Decision-Making, is President of Dale Carnegie Tokyo Training and Adjunct Professor at Griffith University. How life experiences (like motherhood, teaching, and entrepreneurship) can soften a Type A edge. The power of learning the rules before you break them, in Pilates, business, and life. Why evolving from structure to flow doesn't mean losing ambition, it means gaining trust. How to redefine “living on the edge” to fit your version of freedom, creativity, and joy. This month, I'm slowing down — not to plan more, but to see more. In today's episode, I'm talking about something I believe every microschool founder needs before stepping into a new year: an Autumn Audit. I know how it feels to get caught up in the whirlwind of running your school — the lesson plans, family communications, finances, tours, and events. But if we're not careful, we can move so fast that we stop seeing the beauty of what we've built. The Autumn Audit is a moment to pause and look at your school — or even just the dream of your school — through new eyes. Whether you're already open and serving families or you're just beginning to build, this reflection process helps you realign your space, your systems, and your spirit with the vision God first placed in your heart. ✨ In This Episode, I'm Sharing: Why reflection is the most important — and often most neglected — leadership skill for microschool founders. The real reason burnout happens (and how to course-correct before January). The simple questions I'm asking myself during my own Autumn Audit at Lighthouse Learning. How to see your microschool through the eyes of your parents, staff, and students — and use that feedback to grow. What's included inside this month's Microschool Masterminds experience, including:   My Autumn Audit Workbook A Kid-Friendly School Audit Checklist (students love this one!) The Staff & Community Reflection Guide And the Parent Post-Tour Follow-Up Template to turn curiosity into connection.

Episode 101 ✨How to Start Over Without Starting From Scratch In this episode, Dorothy opens the door to a fresh new chapter, both in her work and her life. After 100 episodes of growth and reflection, Episode 101 marks a gentle evolution: a conversation about beginnings, endings, and the space in between. You'll learn why “starting over” is rarely about wiping the slate clean. Dorothy shares how nervous-system safety, self-trust, and aligned action make new beginnings sustainable, and how returning to what once worked can coexist with redefining what's true now. In This Episode: Why every “fresh start” carries the wisdom of what came before How to close energetic doors that never fully shut Returning vs redefining — knowing which season you're in What to do when resistance shows up How I'm shifting from “fixing” to “frequency” from proving to peace Begin again in alignment, not pressure Because you're never truly starting from scratch. Episode Highlights: “You're allowed to close a chapter without crossing every t or dotting every i." “Sometimes expansion looks like doing more. Other times, it's creating more space to breathe.” “Beginning again can sound empowering, but in real life it can also feel heavy, confusing, sad, or even scary.” “You're never truly starting over. Every new beginning carries the wisdom of what came before.” Keywords (SEO):self-trust podcast, personal growth, nervous system regulation, mindset coach, women's self-development, sustainable habits, consistency vs perfection, emotional regulation, gratitude practice, embodiment, Trusting Dorothy podcast Resources & Links: Explore Within: A Return to Self – A 21-Day Journey of Embodied Calm, Clarity, and Deep Self-Trust →https://www.dorothymcgatlin.com/Within-Waitlist Move your body with me inside The Lift Library → HERE Apply for Peace & Prosperity 1:1 Coaching – Six Weeks to Regulate, Realign & Receive _____________________________________________________ Click HERE for the Show Notes. Realign Your Life, Fall in Love with It Again: A Conversation with Elaine Acker

Your Passion, Purpose and Personal Brand

What if the real reason you feel stuck isn't because you're doing the wrong things—but because you're doing them out of alignment? In this honest, soul-stirring conversation between two friends,  , you'll hear a host Lisa McGuire sits down with Elaine Acker, an accomplished journalist, publisher, and entrepreneur turned college English professor. On paper, Elaine had it all. But under the surface, something was missing. When Lisa first invited Elaine to join her Freedom Reset program, Elaine hesitated. Like many of us, she felt like working on herself was a luxury she hadn't earned. Too much to do. Too many people were depending on her. Not the right time. But in the space between “I'm too busy” and “What if I love it?", Elaine found her answer. Within just six weeks of saying “yes,” she discovered a forgotten passion for teaching, applied for a position that aligned with her gifts, and accepted a job offer that would reshape her life. And the best part is she didn't burn it all down. She simply realigned. People around her noticed the difference and commented about how happy she appeared to be. This episode is a gentle nudge for those who are secretly craving change but don't know where to begin. You don't need a full-blown reinvention. You just need to stop betraying the part of you that knows something is missing. What You'll Discover in This Episode: On Getting Started: Why working on yourself isn't selfish—it's the most strategic thing you can do. The hesitation Elaine felt, and the unexpected moment that changed her mind. On the Realignment Process: The difference between reinvention and realignment—and why that distinction matters. What it feels like to make decisions from clarity instead of fear.
