A weekly radio show on WEMF in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Tangentially about all the weird things people say and think and do.
You're Not Weird is back and so we basically just talked about the show and then about grilling.
Nate calls in via Skype. Then, another Chris chat. Find more info on Nate here: www.facebook.com/nateginnettyofficial Songs are timestamped 22:10 and 28:14. Listen, okay, I fucked up the sound quality of part of the Nate interview and I had to use a back up copy of the Chris call because I accidentally made an echo in the original recording. We're all still trying to figure it out, me included.
Hey, You're Not Weird officially becomes a podcast. This is the first episode of a new era. This episode is very "Chris heavy" for all the Chris-heads out there, also a lot of Jes cameos. I hope you like it, but also I'm a real outlaw so I don't care what you think and get bent while you're at it.
Episode 1 of Pod-Town is debuted. Then a call from someone fighting on the front line of the InfoWars. Song in the beginning of the show by the band Punching off of the album "They Don't Have to Believe".
Eric accidentally recorded part of the show in mono and is worried that real audio-heads will be mad about the quality. No more politics, nope, just all funny stuff and no politics not even a little bit of politics. Eric talks to a band manager about his band.
Chris and Eric talk about how they feel about the world today. It's not the most advanced/groundbreaking conversation in the world, but it's something we just needed to get out of our systems so we can move on. There's probably better shows for political commentary, but here's our contribution. Regular show comes back next week.
Diamond Dudes is back. Dan is in studio and Chris is on the phone. The guys talk about the baseball HOF and their new life choices.
The thrilling conclusion of the YNW Christmas trilogy. Also, forgot to mention on the show, the last song was called "Santa's Got a Brand New Swag" by Chet Farnsworth and is available here: soundcloud.com/avant-goode/sets/tinsel-time-by-chet-farnsworth Thanks to Jes, Dan and Chris for their help over the last month.
Part 2 of the YNW Christmas Episode. The start of the MAGA Corp era. Thank you so much to Dan, Jes and Chris!
It's the holiday season so Eric decides to talk to one of Santa's elves to see what's going on up in the North Pole. Things start to get weird and Eric starts to wonder if things are not all as they seem.
Eric is in a post Thanksgiving rut. A mystery caller calls in. Some good music!? The show is back and that's all that matters, I guess. Music in this episode: Fox - High Tide Rising Furnace - Hudsucker Proxy Thanks for listening!
Wow, so much turkey talk! The election grates on Eric and he is kind of a jerk about a few things. He's also buzzed/drunk for certain portions of this episode. PODCASTS! SO WILD! I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving! Music: Porches - Headsgiving Pulled Apart By Horses - Meat Balloon
Eric is back and claims this won't be a political episode of the show but then Hot Load Dave calls in and they talk only politics. You're Not Weird is back as a weekly podcast, get it every Tuesday! Music in this episode: G.L.O.S.S. - Give Violence a Chance (girlslivingoutsidesocietysshit.bandcamp.com) YG feat Nipsy Hustle - FDT
Eric and special guest Chris Parker pay tribute to the greatest American rock band, Foo Fighters. Callers call in to talk Foo with the boys. This is an instant classic.
Eric is competing with a live band in the other room. Callers phone in to say their commencement speeches, some sad, some funny. Lots of great calls in this one. Also brief BBQ talk. A good episode for sure.
This is probably the worst episode of YNW ever. This is only being posted as a way to show that sometimes a live show just goes terrible and you have to live and learn from these moments. Skip this episode unless you are somehow a YNW completist.
Johanna is back! Plenty of topics are covered with callers. Plus, a call from a guy named Wellington. Very good episode, obviously.
Eric tries to create the Joey Fatone All Stars, no one contributes anything, long time friend of the show Nicole calls in. Later, a guy named Davis calls in to talk about who knows what. Music in this episode: Prince, Asher Roth, BROCKHAMPTON (brckhmptn.com), and Worshipper (worshipper.bandcamp.com)
Devin and Ben are live in studio to play Videogame FMK and Ben's NBA Kiss List. Then, Rick the Vinyl Collector calls in to go over all of his favorite releases for Record Store Day. The song in this episode is Cry by Lunch Duchess (songs in podcasts are cut, listen to the show live to hear the music in the show). The full EP is available here: www.lunchduchessmusic.bandcamp.com
You're Not Weird is back and at a new time. Eric and the callers try to make an adjustment, but it's pretty clear that everyone is too tired. A confused caller asks for an old host, more celebrity fight talk, and Eric's roommate calls to bug him about the dishes. The song at the intro of the show was by the band SWIVS and is available via Unblinking Ear Records here:https://unblinkingearrecords.bandcamp.com/track/the-screwjob-of-montreal
Eric has two Jo(e)s in studio. The show starts with some apologies and reconciliation. A wrong is righted! Then a bunch of calls about a bunch of stuff, a round of Which Joe Do I Know, and a live report from SXSW.
The topic of the show is supposed to be about favorite basketball players, but the show is quickly derailed by an old topic. Jes calls in to talk about Lola Bunny's role on the Toon Squad. Plus, a lot of calls about celebrity fights. It's a good one!
Eric introduces the topic of who should have played the Slime Guy in the upcoming Ghostbusting movie. Then, Eric's mentor, comedian/producer/director Rob Potylo, calls in to catch up about his time in LA and a whole bunch of other topics. Plus, calls from Johnny Bongrips, a Lyft driver and 1/3 of the Diamond Dudes Dan! This is a really really great episode!
Eric didn't plan much for this show. Impromptu guest Karina stops by to talk about peeing in alleys and then gives a Central Square market report. Super caller Jes calls in to talk about Ferris Bueller and AFV. Then a call from a guy who doesn't want the rules to the MLB change to. This one is better than it has any right to be!
Eric starts the show by playing some songs in tribute to the new Kanye Album (have to listen live to hear the full songs, as always). Then, long time reliable contributor to the show Jes calls in to talk about how weird it is to play with cats and visit cults. Later, a guy calls in who wants to fight a character from an old McDonald's commercial. Pretty wild stuff!
Eric talks about his trouble peeing under pressure, then some talk about the NBA Celebrity All Star Game and Kanye's new album. Unfortunately, technical difficulties with the phones cut the show short, still an okay show though. The music featured in the beginning of the show was from Backwards Zero, all available here: https://backwardszero.bandcamp.com/
Eric is looking to restart the show and refocus the show's theme. He talks to Pete about weird stuff. Then Lil Reggie calls in to talk about his birthday and things feel like "wow hey, I guess they really haven't changed all that much." Songs in this episode include: Backwards Zero - Defacer Dosh - Don't Wait for the Needle to Drop
The show starts with a bunch of wrestling clips, then Eric talks about some stuff before a referee from the Rockstar Wrestling Federation calls in. This is a good episode.
You're Not Weird puts it's pinky toe back into the pool of radio. Eric is back after a holiday hiatus and a guy named Pond calls in to talk about John Lennon, David Bowie, and The Beatles. A short episode, just getting back into the groove again. Music from the beginning of the episode: Unremarkable People - Pretty and Nice, Wonderful Spells, Paparazzi Paparazzi (available here for free here: http://unremarkablepeople.bandcamp.com)
The last show of the year and it's crazy. Nate Ginnetty calls in and plays a song! Kerry Quirk, famous DJ and creator of Gorgeous Ranting Brunette, calls in to talk about TLC! Super caller Jes calls in to talk about holiday movies! Tim from Backwards Zero in studio! Liam is in studio! Andy from the Welcome Back Andy podcast calls in! Nick and Dennis stop by! Former host of Diamond Dudes Dan calls in! Chris Parker calls in AS HIMSELF! And even after all that, there's still a 40 minute interview with BOB NASTANOVICH FROM PAVEMENT/SILVER JEWS!
No nerd stuff, just SPORTS TALK! Audio collage to start the show, then SO MANY GREAT CALLS! Robo Gronk! San Antonio Spurs tattoo ideas! Where do you even watch sports? Is this a ghost calling in? This is a great episode!
More calls! Nothing was planned! Limping into the holidays! Lil Reggie calls in! Live sports report!
Dan is back! Or is he? Hot Load Dave is back! Maybe a little too much though. Does Rugrats pass the Bechdel Test? A rival podcast advertises their purevolume! PLUS SO MUCH MORE! So many callers!
Eric needs to bounce back after that weird ending to the Halloween episode. Rick calls in to talk about his camaro and do his famous top 10 list. Later, Jes calls in to talk about nerd stuff and Eric's roommate Dennis calls in to ask about his mail. This is a really great episode.
It's the day before Halloween and Eric is sick so he's kind of grumpy. The introduction of the WEMF Party Line goes great until the satanic possession thing. Great Halloween intro, great Halloween call, really weird last 10 minutes where Eric seems to go crazy in the studio.
Eric celebrates Truck Month! Liam is in studio and talks about his proud truck heritage. Lots of callers discussing feminist truck issues, ATVs, truck nuts, and how keeping corporations out of truck month. Also, Eric shows that he clearly knows a lot about women. This is a weird one but also a really funny one.
Eric calls Christine and Pete (separately) to ask about what fall is like outside of New England. Unfortunately, Eric kind of rushed through editing so the segment kind of drags on when it takes Eric a minute and a half to ask a question that can be summarized in 5 words. Later in the show, Eric draws inspiration from This American Life and talks to an advertising executive about ways companies can reform their image. Probably a 5 out of 10 episode (the guests killed it, but Eric only brought his B-game). Music in this Episode (featured in the autumn piece): Secret Machines - Sad and Lonely Bozmo - Cheap Blue Memory Run the Jewels - Blockbuster Night Part 1
No one in studio, nothing prerecorded, just Eric talking about concerts he saw over the past 2 weeks. Also, the show opens with a rock block! Haven't done that in a while. Later in the show, author Curtis Pinklebip calls in to talk about his biography of Pavement! Music in this episode: The Renegade - 13 Women Trash Queen - War Damn Courtney Barnett -Avant Gardner (Live on WFMU with Irwin Chusid, June 2014)
You're Not Weird makes it's triumphant return with special guests! Tim Stefaniak from Backwards Zero is in studio to talk about his new record. Also in studio, writer/photographer Joe Difazio! Rock and Roll White House, a sanitation department employee calls in, this is a great one. Backwards Zero can be found here: http://backwardszero.bandcamp.com/ Joe's article about the black bun whopper can be found here: http://theleftovermedia.com/2015/10/02/the-garbage-king-the-new-low-a-review-of-the-burger-king-halloween-menu/ All music on this episode is from Backwards Zero (except the part that's by The Ramones and Bruce Springsteen).
Please buy the products advertised on this show. Ruben Tupper calls in to talk about his time in the minors. Something terrible happens to Dan. What happens next episode? Who knows! Songs in this Episode: Chastity Belt - Cadaver (live on the Evan Funk Davies show) from the Free Music Archive
The first ever episode of Diamond Dudes. Dan, Chris, and Eric introduce their new brand and get right into talking about the legendary 1994 Montreal Expos. They go over background info about the team and a former president calls in to talk about what life was like in 1994. Later they dive into Game #1 against the dreaded Houston Astros. Buckle up, this is only episode 1 of 160.
It is the 24th canonical episode of You're Not Weird. There is some confusion and Lil Reggie calls in from inside a celebration submarine. Whatever, gotta celebrate whenever you can. Music featured in this episode: Leigh Cheri LIVE on DIWhy (you can hear the whole set at WEMFRadio.com) Sergey Cheremisinov - Crystal Echoes Ty Segall - Brass Knuckles (Personal and the Pizzas cover) Health - Stonefist All songs (except for Health and Leigh Cheri) can be found at the freemusicarchive.org
Hot Load Dave is back. He's kind of stoned and maybe a little depressed? At some point Eric says Mark Wahlberg is the Bourne Supremacist and that's a joke but it might have been missed. A sound collage about presidents and then some Tom Brady talk, it's a solid episode, not top 3, but definitely not bottom 3. Music from the episode: Mac Quayle - Hacking Steal Mountain (from Mr. Robot soundtrack) YEYEY - Wild Things (Instrumental) Ruby Rose Fox - Live on The Rob Potylo Entertainment System on WEMF
Dan is in studio and talks to Eric about stuff that are a thing now like Donald Trump and getting old and Banksy. Then a guy named Hot Load Dave calls in and wants to talk about bogs and swamp culture. The music in this episode was all from the Free Music Archive (freemusicarchive.org): Los Margaritos - Me Ando Derritiendo Fields of Ohio - The Libra Lunologists The Whines - Vacation
Eric takes calls about the topic "yeah, we get it" and talks about pizza, social media stuff, and a little bit about Dr. Dre. Then a guy named Wrinkles calls in and everything goes off the rails. This is a good one.
This was a sloppy episode from the start. Dude Talk going strong as always. Fan favorite and basically famous person Dan is back to do some radio stuff. Trevor from Sloan Kettering High calls in. An old friend calls in and gives high schoolers advice about smoking and women (disclaimer: it's terrible advice except for the no smoking part). A very sloppy episode, lots of weird things happened!
Eric talks to Nick about his new and big and exciting project. Find out more about Nick and see other stuff he's created at http://nemoore.tumblr.com/ and https://nemooredesign.wordpress.com/ Later, Rick calls in to talk about the new Pavement release as well as, other pieces of art that he's into. This is an 8/10 episode probably.
Dan (famous writer of the YNW murder mystery radio play) came in and read some of his fuego scripts. The topic from last week's show was still on the table but no one called so that's probably dead. Also, Lil Reggie called in to talk about his vacation but things got weird fast. Also the last like 20 seconds of the show is cut but just imagine someone saying "okay tune in next week" and you're probably good. All music on this episode was taken from the Sledding With Tigers album Come On and Slam, which is available here https://sleddingwithtigers.bandcamp.com/
