What do you do when Jesus feels late? In John 11, Martha and Mary are grieving the loss of their brother Lazarus, confused why Jesus did not arrive sooner. As Jesus steps into their pain, He reveals that He is not distant from suffering, but deeply moved by it. Through this powerful story, we see both the compassion of Christ and His declaration that He is “the resurrection and the life.”This message explores grief, disappointment, trust, and the difficult questions we wrestle with when God's timing does not make sense. Ultimately, we are reminded that even when Jesus feels late, He is still loving, still present, and still working in ways we cannot yet fully see.

Late May saw a slew of first-quarter earnings reports that reflected meaningful growth for companies like Target and Walmart, but also revealed some bigger shifts in consumer behavior and operational costs. While shoppers dealing with higher fuel costs are pulling back in some areas, like DIY home projects, they're also showing up to treat themselves for limited-edition collabs or deals at off-price retailers. This week on the Modern Retail Podcast, special projects editor Melissa Daniels is joined by reporter Mitchell Parton to unpack some of the biggest hits and misses of earnings season, from Target's comeback to the threat of rising fuel prices.

S8, Ep 35: From Sulphurs to Drakes: George Costa's Essential Fishing Report for Central PA

The Articulate Fly

Episode OverviewThis Central PA Fishing Report on The Articulate Fly fly fishing podcast finds host Marvin Cash checking in with George Costa, manager at TCO Fly Shop in State College, Pennsylvania, for a late-spring conditions update across Central PA's limestone streams. Recorded in late May ahead of Memorial Day weekend, the report captures one of the most productive dry fly windows of the year: sulphurs, March browns and Drakes are all in play simultaneously, and Costa is emphatic that the Drake hatch on Penns Creek is just now getting started en masse. Stream temperatures are sitting in the high 50s to low 60s — ideal for active feeding — though some waters like Spring Creek briefly nudged toward 64°F before a cooldown. Conditions have been running low and clear, which puts a premium on precise dry fly presentations, but an inch-plus of rain is expected Friday into Saturday, which should add needed flow without blowing anything out. Costa walks through how light and weather affect timing, advising anglers to fish earlier on overcast days and push toward evening on bright sunny ones. The episode closes with a preview of TCO Fly Shop events this summer, including the All Fins tournament benefiting Clearwater Conservancy and the Bass Thumb tournament.Key TakeawaysHow to time dry fly fishing around weather and light conditions — overcast days favor earlier sessions, while bright sunny days push fish and hatch activity toward evening. Why the current week is the critical window to target Drakes on Penns Creek and the surrounding Centre County streams before the hatch peaks and passes. How to read an incoming rain event on Central PA limestone streams — modest precipitation adds flow and color without blowing rivers out, making a rain jacket the only real adjustment needed. Why stream temperatures in the high 50s to low 60s signal optimal conditions for dry fly fishing, and when a reading near 64°F warrants closer attention as temps climb. When to reach for streamers during the spring hatch season — slow afternoon periods can yield fish even when hatches are dominating, but they shouldn't be your first play.Techniques & Gear CoveredThe episode centers on dry fly fishing during the season's most prolific multi-hatch window. Costa covers presentation timing strategies for both overcast and sunny conditions, emphasizing that sunlight is the primary driver of hatch activity. Streamers get a brief mention as a productive option during slow afternoon stretches or in slightly colored water following rain, though Costa is clear that with this many bugs in the air, fish are predominantly keyed on surface food. The conversation does not get into specific fly patterns or tackle beyond confirming that this is unambiguously dry fly season — anglers headed to Central PA right now should have sulphur, March brown and Drake imitations ready across a range of sizes.Locations & SpeciesThe primary focal waters are Central Pennsylvania's limestone streams — Spring Creek and Penns Creek in Centre County are specifically named, with the broader network of Centre County spring creeks implied throughout. Wild trout are the target species in this fishery, and the presence of sulphurs, March browns and Drakes points squarely to the limestone stream ecosystem these waters represent. Stream temperatures at the time of recording were in the high 50s to low 60s, with Spring Creek briefly touching 64°F — conditions that remain comfortable for trout but worth monitoring as the season progresses. Low, clear flows have characterized the region since early spring, making careful presentations essential, though the incoming weekend rain is expected to provide welcome relief.FAQ / Key Questions AnsweredWhat hatches are active on Central PA limestone streams in late May?Late May is one of the busiest hatch periods on Central Pennsylvania limestone streams. Costa reports sulphurs, March browns and Drakes all active simultaneously at the time of recording, with Drake activity on Penns Creek just getting started en masse. He recommends the next five to seven days as the prime Drake window before it passes. How does weather affect dry fly fishing timing in Central PA?Light quality and temperature are the primary variables. On bright, sunny days, expect hatch and dry fly activity to concentrate toward evening; on cold, cloudy or overcast days, fish can be on the surface earlier and the window is broader. Costa frames this as a consistent seasonal pattern rather than day-to-day unpredictability.Should I fish through a rain event on Central PA streams? For modest rain events of an inch or so — the kind typical of Central PA's late spring pattern — Costa advises fishing through it. The streams can absorb the rainfall, may pick up some color but should remain fishable, and cooler post-rain conditions can actually improve hatch activity. Bring a rain jacket and don't cancel your trip. When should I consider throwing streamers during the spring hatch season?Streamers are worth a try during slow afternoon stretches when hatch activity is down and fish have stopped rising, or when water carries a little color following rain. Costa notes that with sulphurs, March browns and Drakes all in play, streamers are secondary — fish will be keyed on the surface the majority of the time. What are current stream temperature conditions on Central PA waters? At the time of this report, most Centre County limestone streams were running in the high 50s to low 60s — solidly within the optimal range for active trout feeding. Spring Creek briefly hit 64°F during a warm stretch, but a cooldown and incoming rain are expected to stabilize temps back into the ideal zone.Related ContentS8, Ep 17 - Spring Awakening: George Costa on Central PA Fishing and Upcoming HatchesS7, Ep 36 - Central PA Fishing Report with George Costa of TCO Fly ShopS6, Ep 48 - Rain or Shine: Central PA's Fishing Report with TCO Fly ShopS7, Ep 70 - The Dog Days of Summer: Trico Tactics in Central PA with George CostaS8, Ep 30 - Central PA Chronicles: George Costa's Guide to Spring Fishing Conditions and TechniquesConnect with Our GuestFollow TCO on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.Follow the ShowFollow The Articulate Fly on Facebook, Instagram, Threads and YouTube.Follow our Substack newsletter for episode updates, tips and resources.Support the ShowShop through our Amazon link to support the podcast.Join our Patreon community to support the show.If you are in the industry and need help getting unstuck, learn more about our consulting options.Subscribe & AdvertiseSubscribe to the podcast in your favorite podcast app.Think our community is a good fit for your brand? May 2026 doesn't feel like “more noise” to me, it feels like clearer signal. We're stepping into the Human Design quarter of civilization, shifting from the early-year vibe of ideation and emotional processing into purpose through form. Translation for your business and personal brand: it's time to turn the vision into something real, something structured, and something you can actually communicate without overexplaining.I walk you through the background frequency of the Human Design transits and exactly how I'd use them for aligned marketing and content strategy. Early May brings Gate 2, my favorite reminder that magnetism can come from receptivity, stillness, and direction rather than pushing. Then Gate 23 turns up “original insight,” supporting messaging that sounds like you, not the trend cycle. If you've been holding back a bold perspective, this is a window to say it simply and let it land.Mid-month is where the big shift hits: the nodes move into Gate 55 (spirit of abundance) and Gate 59 (intimacy), and you may notice more freedom-led desire plus deeper connection in the way you speak to your people. Jupiter moves into Gate 62, rewarding structure, details, and clean execution, while Saturn shifts into Gate 21, spotlighting resources, capacity, and money stewardship. Late May is the peak: Gate 20 lights up the power of now, and because Uranus also moves into Gate 20, we get a longer runway for clearer throat energy and real-time communication. I share how I'd use this for live video, face-to-camera content, launches, and a low-ticket strategy tease that's coming in that window. If you want your Human Design transits to support your marketing instead of distracting you, subscribe, share this with a friend, and leave a review so I keep bringing these monthly updates.----------------------------------Please come say hi!Join the Human Design for Marketing FB group, here where I go behind the episode scenes and answer your questionsFollow me on IGCheckout our YouTube channelDownload your Human Design chartDownload your custom Human Design for Marketing Reading (report) + Frieda

We move from years of dense earth-and-water drag into the fast lanes of air and fire, where ideas travel farther, tech and transit evolve, and courage becomes a daily practice. With Pluto settling into Aquarius, Neptune and Saturn igniting Aries, and Uranus blasting into Gemini, the first half of the year accelerates timelines and demands clear choices. We walk through the big arcs and the exact dates that matter. January offers a final Capricorn cleanout before an Aquarian influx invites upgrades, collaboration, and bold thinking. February is the crucible: a Leo full moon, an Aquarius new moon solar eclipse, Uranus stationing direct, and Saturn entering Aries—all while Mercury readies a retrograde. The message is not panic, but preparation. Build buffers, double-check logistics, and use grounded rituals to steady your nervous system.March reframes the narrative. A total lunar eclipse across Virgo-Pisces highlights health, healing, and policy, then Jupiter turns direct in Cancer to buoy homes, families, and real estate. The vernal equinox lands as Mercury goes direct, opening a rare all-planets-forward launch window for decisive moves. April restores balance with a Libra full moon and an Aries new moon, then changes gear as Uranus enters Gemini, kicking off seven years of disruption in communication, travel, education, and media. May amplifies the money axis with a powerful Scorpio full moon and Pluto stationing retrograde, revealing what's been concealed in markets and shared resources. Late May's blue moon across Gemini-Sagittarius broadcasts global signals worth heeding.June keeps powder dry until the finale: a Gemini new moon sets ideas in motion, then a Capricorn full moon arrives the same day Mercury turns retrograde and Mars enters Gemini. Travel and tech are spicy—plan with care. The payoff comes quickly as Jupiter strides into Leo, lighting creativity, performance, and generous leadership. Across it all, we emphasize practical strategy: when to launch, when to review, and how to translate cosmic acceleration into sustainable progress. Late May and early June 1983 is when The Police's defining song "Every Breath You Take" was released and promptly steamrolled its way to #1 in the UK (hitting the top spot on June 5th) before conquering America a month later. While Sting's creepy-but-catchy ode to obsessive surveillance was busy becoming the band's biggest hit and the year's most-played song, Copeland admits the trio was so dysfunctional they could scarcely record in the same room together. Stewart says about Sting, "The times when it was most annoying was when he was right. That's when the homicidal urge, I couldn't resist it. My fingers would be reaching for that jugular." Enjoy this short VIDEO where Stewart's storytelling chops go to 11 when he describes getting lost on the way to a show and then the band having a blowout fight onstage in front of 80,000 fans. Don't stand so close to me, indeed! In episode 488 astrologers Chris Brennan and Austin Coppock look at the astrological forecast for May of 2025! May opens with the tense Mars-Pluto opposition separating but still in close alignment, and this gets reactivated when Pluto stations in Aquarius and the Moon swings in and acts as a trigger at various points. Venus returns to Aries where it retraces its steps and begins the process of fully winding down its long retrograde period, and Mars is similarly finishing up its broader retrograde cycle as it makes its way through Leo. The most important transits this month is that Saturn moves into the sign of Aries on May 24, and this marks the beginning of a three year transit through this sign, where it will meet up with Neptune this summer and early next year. The month ends with an auspicious stellium of planets all meeting up in Gemini, which provides us with one of the best electional charts of the year. We spend the first hour of the episode talking about the astrology of news and events that have occurred since our last forecast, and then in the second half we transition into talking about the astrology of May. Send us a textVanderhoof, British Columbia—a picturesque town surrounded by dense forests and rugged terrain. It's a place where life moves at a steady, familiar pace and where everyone seems to know each other. But in May 2011, the close-knit community was shaken by the disappearance of a young woman whose vibrant personality and adventurous spirit were the heart of those who knew her.Madison Scott, or Maddy as her loved ones called her, was born on April 29, 1991, to Eldon and Dawn Scott. Growing up alongside her siblings Ben and Georgia, Maddy's life was filled with love, laughter, and a healthy dose of adventure. She was a force of nature, just as comfortable in a dress as she was in her work coveralls. Whether she was tearing through the trails on her dirt bike or gliding gracefully across the ice as a figure skater, Maddy embraced life with boundless energy. She thrived on spontaneity, often planning impromptu adventures or performing in amateur video productions with her friends. Her vivacious, playful personality was magnetic—she lit up every room she entered. But Maddy wasn't just about fun. She had a compassionate and generous heart, always willing to lend a hand or bring a smile to someone's face.At Nechako Valley Secondary School, Maddy struck a delicate balance between academics and her vibrant social life. While she was more focused on forging friendships and savoring her teenage years, she still met the demands of her studies. After graduating in 2009, she followed in her father's footsteps, working as an apprentice heavy-duty mechanic in the logging industry—a testament to her determination and grit. But for all her light and energy, Maddy's story took a dark and inexplicable turn. It was a weekend that was supposed to be filled with laughter, celebration, and friends. Late May in British Columbia marked the start of camping season, a time when locals would gather at places like Hogsback Lake to soak in the beauty of nature. For Madison Scott, or Maddy as her friends and family called her, the weekend of May 27th, 2011, would be one to remember—but not in the way anyone expected.Support the show

To say that Douglas Vermeeren is one of the busiest actors filming roles in feature films in Europe and the USA is an understatement. To keep up with his roles in productions in 2024, let's start with the Western “Unnatural 2,” Douglas plays Lucifer, directed by Whit Whitman and shot in Kentucky in May 2024 for Little Monsters Productions. He then flew to attend the Cannes Film Festival before booking a role as gangster Archie Baker in “Clean Right Hook,” shot in London, UK, in Late May /early June 2024, directed by Sam Purewal for Black Coppice Productions, Then back to the US for “Deadly Endings”  shot in New Haven CT in June 2024. Douglas plays Bradley West with filmmaker Richard Harlost. Douglas also found time to shoot the role of Raynard in “Alien Horde,” his second film with Mahal Empire. And if that's not enough, you can see Douglas in Paramount+'s six-episode documentary series “Mafia Spies,” now streaming. Based on the book Mafia Spies: The Inside Story of the CIA, Gangsters, JFK, and Castro. On the film festival circuit, Douglas is proud of two independent feature films, “Jack Knife” and “Tenants,” which are winning awards worldwide. As Denver Haywood in “The Boy From Below” with Dee Wallace and Leah Voysey. Late May in the United States is usually a time of cook-outs and remembrance as we memorialize those who gave their lives in service to this country. 2024 however, should be remember for another death, the death of courts of justice. First it was the International Criminal Court. Prosecutor court Karim Khan sought arrest warrants for the leader of both Hamas and Israel, alleging he had reasonable grounds to believe they had criminal responsibility for war crimes. Then, barely a week later, Judge Merchan concluded his biased case against Donald Trump with biased instructions to the jury, which found Mr. Trump guilty on all 34 counts. After some consideration, I realized that these cases are so similar, they could be fraternal twins.
