I look back over the last few years of my life and I've spoken on big stages next to some pretty big names. Andy Frisella Ed Mylett David Goggins. And while this has been very impressive and a huge highlight in my life, I have a new found appreciation. I bought a ranch a few years ago, and I recently hosted a Man Camp for Dads and sons. We taught them everything from working with knives, guns (I just taught, and did NOT hold a firearm), educated them on the farm ecosystem, got up locase with the cows, rode ATVs, fished, did some grilling out, and walked the land a bit. There was nothing more rewarding than teaching kids things you can't learn on an electronic device. Seeing their Dads spend time with them without interference or checking their phones was priceless. We provided an experience that will stay with those 12 kids and 10 Dads forever. There's no better time spent than taking in nature under the sun in open fields. I'm not sure when I'll have the next event like this (probably not in the summer), but when I do, I hope you get a chance to take advantage of it. It doesn't have to be with me, but if you're fortunate to create that space for you and your children in your life, it's one I promise you won't regret. The best part, no one got hurt. Some of the kids left holding their heads a bit higher having learned new, practical skills and feeling great about themselves. Build confident children. They're the adults of tomorrow. It started as a fun weekend in the snow.A few ATVs, a cabin in Iowa, some burnt ends, and a bunch of college guys who needed a break from their phones. Then one guy walked barefoot into the snow.At first, everyone thought he was just doing an act.But as the night went on, it became clear that something deeper was happening. A moment in prayer that would change one friend's life forever.
Residents of Anaktuvuk Pass, Alaska can now use four wheelers to subsistence hunt in the Gates of the Arctic National Park and Preserve. The change was announced by the U.S. Interior Secretary during a visit last month. As the Alaska Desk's Alena Naiden from our flagship station KNBA reports, residents of the North Slope village have been fighting for this decision for decades. Marc John Morry has been hunting caribou around Anaktuvuk Pass since he was a child, but in the summer and fall, most of the land around the village has been off limits to hunters like him. That is because residents were not allowed to use four wheelers in the majority of the Gates of the Arctic National Park and Preserve. The all-terrain vehicles are the only way to access the roadless preserve surrounding the village. Last month the U.S. Department of the Interior announced it would restore off-road-vehicle access to the park. Morry says he is excited. “This is life changing. I only wish my grandparents were here. Now that we’re able to access the lands, we can learn ourselves and relearn what our ancestors taught us about certain areas that always have caribou.” The Trump administration has been working to expand access to hunters on off-road vehicles in protected federal lands across the country. However, a National Park Service (NPS) spokesman for the Alaska region said this action is specific to subsistence hunting in the Gates and does not apply to sport hunters. And it comes after decades of back and forth on the issue. Before Anaktuvuk Pass became a permanent settlement about 80 years ago, the Nunamiut people were semi-nomadic and moved throughout the Brooks Range. Morry says they were searching for their main food source – caribou. “We heard many stories from our elders about hunting grounds that we weren’t able to access, which they remember before we even formed a community.” The federal government established the Gates of the Arctic around Anaktuvuk Pass when it passed the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act. Residents were still given the right to subsistence hunt using snowmachines and motorboats, among other traditional transportation methods, but the rule did not mention ATVs. And 40 years ago, new park guidance interpreted the law to ban hunts on ATVs because they were not used traditionally. Lillian Stone is the city mayor of Anaktuvuk Pass. She says the ban created invisible boundaries for residents relying on hunting for survival. “It was like we were prisoners in our own land for 40 years, where before that it was, we could hunt anywhere, we could travel anywhere.” Local Native corporations exchanged lands with the Park Service in the late 90s, which made additional areas within the park available for subsistence ATV hunts. Still, residents could only access about 1% of the Gates of the Arctic. Stone says residents and local leaders have been advocating for ATV access to the park for subsistence for decades – but with no progress. “We felt like it wasn’t getting anywhere, and we weren’t getting the answers that were needed.” Last year, local leadership traveled to Washington D.C. and asked the Interior Department to restore ATV access to the park. This May, the department announced the decision to do that. Interior Secretary Doug Burgum wrote in a social media post that “no one knows or cares for this land more than the people who live here.” Honored to be with the Nunamiut people in Anaktuvuk Pass to celebrate freedom & self-determination. After 40 years, we are restoring ORV use in Gates of the Arctic National Park for subsistence hunting, because no one knows or cares for this land more than the people who live… pic.twitter.com/m39PGbIP9C — Secretary Doug Burgum (@SecretaryBurgum) May 18, 2026 A department spokeswoman said in an email the old ban was inconsistent with supporting subsistence. She said NPS will consult local communities within six months to establish the new rule. Kristen Morry is an Anaktuvuk Pass hunter and a mother of two. She says the announcement means a lot for her and her children. “I have no words for what just happened, because it just makes me really emotional. … I’m excited to be out there and to no longer have to worry about when we have to stop, because I’m out there year round as well.” NPS said local hunters should contact the Gates of the Arctic for current information on using ATVs while the regulatory process is underway. Send us Fan MailA big boar comes in after a week of absence, the shot looks right, the arrow is a clean pass through, and the blood trail is shocking for a bear. Then the track turns into every hunter's gut punch: you hear coughing, you bump him once, you push hard because the sign feels “too good,” and eventually the trail just ends in thick, swampy woods. That's where my conversation with Terance Boss of Boss Outfitting in Alberta begins, and it quickly turns into the kind of honest bear hunting talk most people only have around a fire.Terance has guided black bear hunts since the late 1990s, and he's seen what bears can survive: old bullets in shoulders, missing legs, and hits that make no sense until you're skinning one out. We unpack what bear behavior after the shot can hint at, why waiting is part of ethical bowhunting and rifle hunting, and how easy it is to turn a recoverable bear into a nightmare by pushing too soon. We also get practical about baiting, from running meat early to switching when heat makes it brutal, the truth behind candy myths, and why trail cameras and any “new” smell can become a magnet because you simply cannot beat a bear's nose. Then the conversation goes wild in the best way: wolves circling bait sites, wolverines that make full grown bears scatter, and what happens when hunting pressure drops and conflicts spike, from beehives to wrecked ATVs. We close by talking remote bears, grizzly expansion, and why conservation often means targeting older, dominant animals even when that makes some people uncomfortable. If you care about spring bear hunting, black bear baiting, tracking, and making better decisions after the shot, you'll get a lot from this one. Subscribe, share it with a hunting buddy, and leave a review with your toughest tracking lesson.Check us out on Facebook Hunts On Outfitting, or myself Ken Marr. Fred from the Subarctic Alaska Sasquatch YouTube channel is back, and this time he brings two encounters rooted deep in the Copper River Valley and the gold country of Alaska's interior. The first comes from a man we'll call Travis, an Ahtna man with family ties down the Copper River Valley who saved for years to carve out a small homestead on a five-acre piece of native allotment land.Three years ago, on the third morning of an early trip with his wife, the couple's coffee was interrupted by a grunt and then a growl that seemed to come from every direction. What Travis first took for a bear turned out to be something far stranger, peering over ten-foot alders from twenty-five yards out. His wife saw it clearly first, describing a caveman-like figure with dark grayish-black skin, black eyes, a broad flat nose with downward-facing nostrils, and a strange blondish-red coat of hair. What followed was a two-day siege, with multiple creatures circling the cabin, jiggling the door handle, throwing rocks onto the roof, and fixating on Travis's wife, who reported hearing one of them telling her to come over in her own head. Rifle shots, a near-decision to burn the tree line, a sleepless night, and a tense armed extraction with friends the next morning all play out before they finally reach their ATVs and escape. Travis has returned since, learning from the previous owners that activity reliably picked up twice a year, every spring and fall. The second story reaches back to the spring of 1946 and comes from an Ahtna elder we'll call Tyler, passed down across a lifetime from his father, Tyler Senior. Set in the gold country near what would later become the Taylor Highway at Mosquito Creek, in an area then known as Forty Mile, the account follows Tyler Senior and two cousins working a small claim. After days with no wildlife stirring, the harassment began with strange whoops, whistles, and pigeon-like cooing from the tree line, then escalated to rocks thrown with painful accuracy, a wrung-off caribou head and a stripped hindquarter lobbed into camp, and a black silhouette swaying at the edge of the firelight. Heavily armed with old-school large-bore rifles, the men fired volley after volley at a creature that ran through their fire, scattered the embers, and seemed to vanish each time they shot. By the time multiple siren-like screams answered one another up and down the valley before dawn, the men packed up and abandoned the operation for good. The lesson Tyler Senior carried and passed down was simple and consistent: you never engage the bushman, you leave, because if you don't, it doesn't stop.Visit Subarctic Alaska Sasquatch YouTube ChannelEmail BrianGet Our FREE NewsletterGet Brian's Books Leave Us A VoicemailVisit Our WebsiteBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/sasquatch-odyssey--4839697/support.Have you had a Bigfoot encounter, Sasquatch sighting, Dogman experience, or other cryptid or paranormal encounter? Powersports dealers are introducing financing discussions earlier in the buying process as affordability concerns and economic uncertainty shape consumer behavior during the industry's peak selling season. May is one of the most important sales periods for powersports dealers as warmer weather drives demand for motorcycles, ATVs and side-by-sides, Synchrony Outdoors Senior Vice President and General Manager Susan Medrano told Auto Finance News during a special episode of “The Roadmap” podcast. “It's important because that buying window for peak season is so narrow,” she said. “If the consumer doesn't purchase during that window, they may not purchase till next year.” This year, affordability pressures are changing how consumers approach purchases, with about 81% of shoppers focused on financing options when making large purchases, Medrano said, citing Synchrony's 2025 Major Purchase Study, Modern buying trends Buyers also are researching financing options before visiting dealerships and are increasingly focused on monthly payments and loan terms, Medrano said. “The financing starts much sooner in the process,” she said. “Consumers are educating themselves before they ever get there.” That has spurred dealers to discuss financing on the showroom floor instead of waiting until customers reach the finance office, Medrano said. “If it's the monthly payment, for example, they could talk about the different terms that would be available, whether it's 36 months or it's 84 months, and the difference that makes to the consumer,” she said. “The same with total ticket price.” Those conversations allow dealers to tailor promotional APRs, repayment terms and add-ons to that customer, Medrano said. Flexible financing Flexible financing is increasingly important as dealers work to convert shoppers during the compressed seasonal sales window, Medrano said. “The worst thing that can happen is you get a customer to a finance desk and then they get sticker shock over the payment,” she said. Synchrony also encourages digital applications and mobile approval tools that allow customers to apply for financing before or during dealership visits, Medrano said. “We're trying to make the buying process as frictionless as possible,” she said. Do you own or enjoy ATVs, UTVs, and off-road motorcycles? Tune in for a discussion regarding how one US county is debating the ban of these Off-road Highway Vehicles from county road ditches, citing safety risks and property damage. Join radio hosts Rebecca Wanner aka ‘BEC' and Jeff ‘Tigger' Erhardt (Tigger & BEC) with the latest in Outdoors & Western Lifestyle News! Why Is Ditch Riding So Controversial? The legality of driving ATVs, UTVs, and off-road motorcycles in county road ditches is a highly debated rural policy issue today. While these vehicles are generally prohibited from paved roads, ditch riding laws vary widely by township, county, and state. At the heart of the debate are concerns about safety, property rights, environmental impact, noise and economic effects. Safety Concerns OHVs such as ATVs, UTVs, and dirt bikes are designed for off-road terrain—not public right-of-ways. Critics argue that: Many OHVs lack standard roadway safety features. Their high center of gravity increases rollover risk. Riders may lose control on uneven ditch terrain. Proximity to vehicle traffic creates collision risks. Property and Environmental Damage Another major issue involves landowner responsibility and infrastructure damage. Ditch riding can: Create ruts and soil erosion Destroy landscaping Damage public right-of-way infrastructure Increase noise complaints Under North Dakota Century Code 63-05-01, adjoining landowners are responsible for cutting weeds and grasses along regularly traveled county and township highways—including vegetation within the public right-of-way. If OHVs damage those areas, landowners may still be legally obligated to maintain them, increasing frustration and cost among property owners. Economic and Community Impact Because laws vary significantly: Check Local Ordinances: Regulations differ by town, county, and state—and can change quickly. Use Designated Trails Only: Riding is typically restricted to clearly marked and approved areas. Understand Age Requirements: Youth operators must meet state licensing or certification requirements. A Decision That Impacts the Future of Rural Communities The debate over ditch riding isn't just about recreation—it's about balancing safety, property rights, environmental stewardship, and economic vitality. As county commissioners and townships consider whether to ban or strictly regulate OHVs in road ditches, the outcome could set a precedent for how rural communities manage off-road recreation in the years ahead. This week I'm back in Pennsylvania and analyzing Bigfoot sightings in Butler County! Many of my listeners have told me about Butler and the great Bigfoot habitat there, and I found some really interesting encounters! A man camping with Boy Scouts at Muskrat Cove hears wood knocks that seem to be communicating; a fisherman is spooked by tree knocks and rock clacks coming from shore; campers hear something near their campfire and see a Bigfoot with glowing red eyes; a driver witnesses a late-night road crossing as Sasquatch walks calmly in front of the car; a biker sees a hairy, bipedal creature; two hunters encounter Sasquatch drinking from a creek; and two men on ATV run into a Bigfoot that roared and threw rocks at them. Bigfoot definitely seems to be stalking the residents of Butler County!Chapters:1:52 - Butler County, Bigfoot, and the Brooklyn Bridge3:47 - A man camping at Moraine State Park hears wood knocks9:56 - A fisherman on Lake Arthur hears strange sounds in the woods15:37 - Campers sitting around a campfire see Bigfoot watching them 22:06 - A driver has a roadside Bigfoot encounter29:24 - Pennsylvania Bigfoot Society map and stories30:24 - A biker sees Bigfoot on Cornplater Road in Cabot, Pennsylvania31:23 - Two hunters observe Bigfoot drinking water and sniffing the air32:29 - Two men on ATVs have rocks thrown at them by a tall, hairy creature34:20 - Final Thoughts on Butler County Bigfoot#bigfoot #pennsylvania #cryptids Links!Follow us on Social media!Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/oddanduntold/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/oddanduntoldWebsite: https://www.oddanduntold.comEmail me! : jason@oddanduntold.comBigfoot Sightings in Pennsylvania | Clearfield CountyBigfoot Sightings in Pennsylvania | Erie CountyBigfoot Sightings in Pennsylvania: Lycoming CountyMelissa's Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@beyondtheunveiled11BFRO Sightings in Butler County: https://www.bfro.net/GDB/show_county_reports.asp?state=PA&county=ButlerPennsylvania Bigfoot Society: https://www.pabigfoot.com/archived-sightings.html?utm_source=chatgpt.comCheck out Riversend, the band behind "Moonlight," our awesome theme music!Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/track/1yIwfeu2cH1kDZaMYxKOUe?si=NIUijnmsQe6LNWOsfZ2jPwRiversend Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/RiversendbandRiversend Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/riversendband/

You're listening to American Ground Radio with Louis R. Avallone and Stephen Parr. This is the full show for February 4, 2026. 0:30 We break down a deeply troubling decision by the U.S. Supreme Court to let California’s new congressional map move forward for the 2026 midterms without so much as a single dissent. We walk through why the Court is signaling that political gerrymandering is fair game as long as it isn’t explicitly racial, and how Democrats in California used Proposition 50 to wipe out the last illusion of independent redistricting. How do you guarantee a republican form of government when one party can rewrite the map mid-decade to lock in power? We compare California to Texas, revisit past Supreme Court signals, and confront the reality that this may be the rules of the game—even if those rules are poisoning public trust in our elections. 9:30 Plus, we cover the Top 3 Things You Need to Know. The Supreme Court ruled today that the state of California can use its new congressional maps in this year's upcoming elections. That could allow Democrats to pick up 5 extra seats in the house due to massive gerrymandering in the redrawn boundaries. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons is recommending postponing any gender related surgeries until after patients reach the age of 19. The Man who tried to kill President Trump at his golf course in Florida has been sentenced to life in Prison. 12:30 Get Prodovite Plus from Victory Nutrition International for 20% off. Go to vni.life/agr and use the promo code AGR20. 13:00 We break down Massachusetts’ so-called “Freedom to Move Act” and why, despite the branding, it’s really about reducing how much you’re allowed to drive and quietly limiting freedom of movement. Setting targets for vehicle miles traveled opens the door to fewer roads, less parking, slower speeds, and a growing push to force people onto public transportation whether it works for their lives or not. This isn’t about environmental policy—it’s about government deciding where and how you’re allowed to go. Real freedom doesn’t come from the state managing your movement; it comes from the government protecting your right to move without interference. 16:00 We ask American Mamas Teri Netterville and Kimberly Burleson how they survived the historic ice storm that shut down much of the South, and what they saw when things got hard. From families stranded for hours on icy interstates, communities without power for days, and everyday people stepping up long before government help arrived. We talk about neighbors using ATVs to deliver food, water, diapers, and gas, strangers helping strangers, and why disasters have a way of revealing both resilience and character. When systems fail and the weather turns brutal, real strength still comes from faith, family, and community—and that given the chance, Americans will show up for one another. If you'd like to ask our American Mamas a question, go to our website, AmericanGroundRadio.com/mamas and click on the Ask the Mamas button. 23:00 We talk about the post-Dobbs reality, where abortion rates are actually rising in blue states, and why claiming “victory” is either naïve or dishonest. We walk through why leaders like Pope Leo and Mother Teresa were right to call abortion the greatest threat to peace, and why a society that treats unborn life as disposable can never truly be just or peaceful. We also connect the dots between abortion, euthanasia, and assisted suicide, including chilling policies in places like Canada and parts of the U.S. The message is simple and uncomfortable: when a culture abandons the value of innocent human life, everything else begins to unravel. 26:00 We Dig Deep into why the SAVE Act — the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act — should be a no-brainer for anyone who actually cares about election integrity. We walk through what the bill really does: requiring proof of citizenship to register to vote and ending online voter registration that’s ripe for fraud in an age of bots and AI. We look at the polling that demolishes the left’s favorite talking point, showing overwhelming support for voter ID across party lines and across racial groups. And we ask the uncomfortable but obvious question: if Democrats insist our elections are secure and only citizens are voting, why are they so desperate to kill the SAVE Act? The answer, frankly, doesn’t reflect well on them — and it raises serious red flags about who they want voting and why. 32:00 Get Performlyte from Victory Nutrition International for 20% off. Go to vni.life/agr and use the promo code AGR20. 32:30 We take on the NFL’s bizarre announcement that ICE will not operate in or around the Super Bowl and ask the obvious question: since when does the NFL get to tell federal law enforcement where it’s allowed to do its job? We cut through the celebrity optics, activist pressure, and performative virtue signaling to talk about who actually attends the most expensive sporting event on the planet and whether the Super Bowl even makes sense as an immigration enforcement target. The conversation exposes the absurdity of carving out de facto “immigration-free zones” for optics while pretending it’s about safety or compassion. At the end of the day, this isn’t about football — it’s about who really runs the country and whether federal law still applies when celebrities, corporations, and political narratives get uncomfortable. 35:30 We talk about a real bright spot coming out of Republican-led states: serious efforts to cut — and in some cases eliminate — property taxes on homeowners. We break down why no American should ever risk losing their home simply because they can’t keep paying rent to the government, especially after they’ve already bought and paid for it. We connect the dots between rising property taxes, declining homeownership, and the destruction of generational wealth, particularly for young families and seniors on fixed incomes. We contrast red states looking for ways to lower the tax burden with blue states doubling down on higher taxes, and explain why targeted reforms — protecting primary residences while still taxing second homes, luxury properties, and corporations — are about economic freedom, not government handouts. 39:30 We react to the horrifying report that Savannah Guthrie’s elderly mother may have been abducted from her home, with blood found on the porch and her purse, phone, and life-sustaining medications left behind. We talk through the disturbing details, the possibility of a ransom demand involving Bitcoin, and the very real concern for her health and safety. We also reflect on President Trump’s response after being asked about the case — setting politics aside and calling it “absolutely horrifying,” while offering to personally reach out and help. This is one of those moments that cuts past media narratives and partisan lines, reminding us just how fragile life is and why this story stops you cold. 41:00 And finish off with an unbelievable and deeply moving story of survival when a family kayaking trip turned into a life-or-death fight against the ocean. Articles Supreme Court allows California to use congressional map benefitting Democrats Plastic surgeons recommend delaying gender surgery until 19 Man who tried to assassinate Trump at his Florida golf course is sentenced to life in federal prison States Weigh Ending Property Taxes for Homeowners Washington State Dems Introduce Millionaire's Tax, GOP Warns of Risks New Poll Crushes Dem, Media Narrative: Americans Demand Mass Deportations, Back ICE Overwhelmingly The SAVE Act Is Popular, and Democrats Are Terrified of It Trump: "Who Would Not Want Voter ID? There's a corner of America where people vanish at a startling rate, where massive searches can turn up nothing, no trail, no remains, no answers. That place is Alaska. In this episode of Backwoods Bigfoot Stories, we head into the shadowed heart of the Alaska Triangle, the vast wilderness between Anchorage, Juneau, and Utqiagvik, to explore why so many disappear and why indigenous stories have warned about forest-dwelling abductors for generations. In the summer of twenty twenty-two, sixty-nine-year-old Mary Dawn Wilson drove her Ford Focus nearly seven miles down the Stampede Trail near Healy, Alaska, a rugged route tied to the Into the Wild legend and notorious for swallowing travelers. With a two-year-old child in the back seat, Wilson pushed her vehicle far beyond where it reasonably could go.When the car became stuck in mud, she made a decision no one can explain. She locked the toddler inside the vehicle and walked deeper into the wilderness, away from the highway and toward the interior.Search teams deployed helicopters, thermal imaging, drones, ATVs, and trained dogs. They located Wilson's personal belongings about a mile beyond the stuck car, proof she kept going. After that, the trail went cold. No footprints. No sign. Nothing. After three days, the active search was suspended. Mary Dawn Wilson has never been found. We zoom out to examine the bigger pattern, thousands of disappearances across Alaska over the decades, many ending in complete erasure. We revisit chilling cases tied to the Alaska Triangle, including the nineteen seventy-two disappearance of House Majority Leader Hale Boggs and Alaska Congressman Nick Begich, whose plane was never recovered despite one of the largest search operations in American history. We examine the case of Gary Frank Sotherden, whose skull was found years later with bear tooth marks but little else, no clothing, no gear, no explanation for how he ended up so far from where he was supposed to be.We consider Thomas Anthony Nuzzi, the traveling nurse last seen with an unidentified woman who has never been located, both of them vanishing into the Alaskan night without a trace. And we look at Michael LeMaitre, a marathon runner who vanished during a major, heavily monitored event on a mountainside crowded with other competitors and spectators, disappearing in broad daylight despite sophisticated search technology that should have been able to locate any warm body on that mountain. Alaska Native traditions carry their own explanations for these disappearances, stories of entities that mimic, lure, and take. The Tlingit speak of the Kushtaka, the land otter man, a shapeshifter said to imitate voices and faces to draw victims away from safety. The Yup'ik tell of the Hairy Man they call Miluquyuliq, a powerful forest presence that watches travelers from the treeline with an intensity that goes beyond mere animal curiosity. And the descendants of Portlock speak of the Nantinaq, a predatory figure so feared that locals ultimately abandoned their entire town rather than remain in its territory. By nineteen fifty, every resident had fled, leaving behind homes and livelihoods, choosing displacement over whatever stalked them from the surrounding forest. We also touch on modern reports, including sightings documented by the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization across Alaska, encounters with massive bipedal creatures covered in dark fur that emit strange vocalizations and watch humans with unsettling intelligence. These accounts span decades and come from experienced outdoorsmen, truckers, hunters, and others who know the difference between known wildlife and something else entirely. At the center of this episode lies an unsettling question that may never be answered. What made Mary Dawn Wilson walk the wrong way, into the deep, after leaving a child behind? She was no naive tourist. She knew the Alaskan wilderness, had lived in remote areas, understood the dangers. Yet something compelled her to drive down that haunted trail, to keep going when any sensible person would turn back, and finally to walk away from her stuck vehicle in the opposite direction of safety. Did she experience a medical crisis that impaired her judgment? Did the wilderness itself disorient her?Or did she see something, hear something, follow something that called to her from the trees? The Tlingit have always warned their children about the Kushtaka's ability to mimic familiar voices, to appear as loved ones, to promise help while leading victims to their doom. The people of Portlock knew something was hunting them long before they abandoned their homes. And Mary Dawn Wilson, walking deeper into the Alaskan interior on that July afternoon, may have encountered whatever it is that has been taking people from this land for longer than anyone can remember.Mary Dawn Wilson was four feet ten inches tall, weighed one hundred sixty pounds, and had gray hair and blue eyes with a small scar on her left ear. She was wearing a floral dress and a cream-colored kuspuk with green flowers when she disappeared. Her case remains open. Tips can be submitted to the Alaska State Troopers at nine oh seven, four five one, five one oh oh, or anonymously through the AK Tips smartphone app. If you know anything about what happened on the Stampede Trail in July of twenty twenty-two, please reach out. Somewhere in that vast and silent wilderness, the answers are waiting to be found.Thank you for joining us on Backwoods Bigfoot Stories. The forest is always watching. And sometimes, it takes.

REVENGE is the feature directorial debut of Coralie Fargeat, Oscar-nominated for directing last year's total fucking banger THE SUBSTANCE.THE SUBSTANCE had a budget of $17 million. REVENGE had $3 million. And in comparing both movies, it gives me great joy to see that Fargeat's penchant for the surreal and gnarly diminishes not with a lowered budget. Her ideas remain just as ferocious and maximalist, like a sledgehammer to the face.REVENGE refers to the second part of the "rape-revenge" couplet as a woman named Jen (Matilda Lutz) exacts hers against three married men: one who raped her and the two friends who did nothing to stop nor punish it.These men (one of whom is her now ex-boyfriend) are armed with rifles, riding on ATVs and Range Rovers. Jen has on a T-shirt and shorts. She had heels at one point but sacrificed them to the desert. So, yeah. The odds aren't great. But spite is a hell of a drug. Some would say it's even better than peyote. Fire and brimstone ensues in a whirlwind of viscera and chipped nail polish.REVENGE is now available to stream on Tubi.---Please rate, review and follow THE MOVIES wherever you listen to podcasts!Follow THE MOVIES on Instagram, Bluesky and Letterboxd

Some marginal catching up going on here; more episodes in the queue... What's in it? Car fads like the BMW 3-Series, Audi 5000 and SAAB 900s versus electric cars, and how the electric car fad is coming to grief over its feasibility issues (couldn't help ourselves); a microcosm of plug-in car failures in the Volkswagen Buzz (and why no one's buying the hype because it doesn't match the myth - or reality - of the original VW Bus). There's curvy road fun (and failure) with Colorado's fabulous, famous and frightening 550 - a nice job by Zebulon Pike - and why you shouldn't try to mess with your phone when a right turn starts with a 300ft curb. We also take a somber moment to discuss being safe with your ATV because it's easy to get yourself killed on a quad or snowmobile, even when you've got the money of a Lending Tree CEO or the skillset of a Ken Block. Risk takes brains and skill, and even that ain't always enough (...'Tis better to hit the deer than miss the road). There's more about Big Boy 4014's plans for a coast-to-coast run in 2026, sunken treasure from Florida's Treasure Coast, Blackbeard, Tommy Thompson and the S.S. Central America, the French pick a winner with the Guardian of Liberty, a new door kills an old finger, plus Amon Tobin rolls tracks throughout; with details on albums and soundtracks (just "Like Regular Chickens").
