På senare tid har Säkerhetspolisen börjat använda ett för Sverige nytt begrepp för att beskriva en del av den mest extrema våldsbejakande onlinemiljön: misantropisk extremism. Det handlar om löst sammansatta nätverk och digitala subkulturer genomsyrade av nazism, ondska och våld. Sadism och brutalitet upphöjs till ideal och i grupperna uppmuntras ständigt till verkliga våldsdåd som alltid ska dokumenteras med bild. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, Rafael grew up in a bustling household of many siblings amid the stark realities of deprivation. In 1969, at just nine years old, Rafael's family relocated to Coventry, England, seeking better fortunes. But the transition shattered him. A psychological test labeled him "severely retarded" - a misdiagnosis that would haunt him for years. His mother, unable to read or speak English fluently, unwittingly signed papers committing him to the care of the local authority. As a Catholic, he was sent to Croome Court, a so-called boarding school run by the Sisters of Charity of St. Paul's Apostle under the Birmingham ArchdioceseFrom the moment he arrived at nine and a half, Croome Court became a chamber of horrors. Housing around 150 children - many who were orphans, traumatized children, and children labeled as "feeble-minded" - the institution was a breeding ground for unimaginable atrocities. Nuns, priests, and staff wielded terror like a divine right.But the abuse went far beyond bruises. Priests and staff ritualistically raped, abused and tortured children, in a pattern dating back to the 1930s, as reports later revealed. Allegations of murder surfaced - two children killed by the same order of nuns. Rafael himself endured beatings, waterboarding, scrubbing filthy toilets in pajamas with drain fluid, and being locked in pitch-black cupboards for days without food. Today, Rafael stands unbowed - a messenger of truth, protected by a higher force. "I think I'm a messenger... I had to go through all that pain and suffering to tell my experiences." He amplifies survivors' voices, demanding justice, compensation, and change. He is an advisory board member of the US Campaign for Palestinian rights, co-editor of After Zionism (Saqi Books) and is currently writing a book about Palestine. Depuis l'enfance, on nous répète qu'il faut faire son lit dès qu'on sort du sommeil. Un geste d'ordre, de discipline, presque un symbole du “bon départ” de la journée. Pourtant, plusieurs recherches et observations en hygiène domestique montrent qu'il vaudrait mieux… attendre. Et cela pour une raison simple : l'humidité.Chaque nuit, notre corps transpire. On perd en moyenne entre 200 et 500 millilitres d'eau sous forme de sueur et de vapeur. Cette humidité se retrouve piégée dans les draps, le matelas et l'oreiller. Or, les acariens — ces minuscules organismes responsables de nombreuses allergies — adorent deux choses : la chaleur et l'humidité. Quand on se lève, le lit est exactement dans l'état qu'ils préfèrent.Faire son lit immédiatement revient à emprisonner cette humidité sous la couette, créant un environnement idéal pour que les acariens se multiplient. Selon une étude menée par l'Université de Kingston au Royaume-Uni, laisser son lit ouvert et bien aéré pendant au moins quelques heures réduit significativement la survie de ces micro-organismes. Exposés à l'air sec et à la lumière, ils se déshydratent et meurent beaucoup plus rapidement.Le lit défait devient ainsi, paradoxalement, un lit plus sain : la circulation de l'air permet d'évacuer la chaleur accumulée et de diminuer l'humidité résiduelle. Ce séchage naturel réduit les risques d'allergies, de nez bouché au réveil, d'irritations et de crises d'asthme pour les personnes sensibles. Au contraire, un lit refait trop tôt conserve un microclimat chaud et humide, qui agit comme un incubateur.Il ne s'agit évidemment pas de ne jamais faire son lit, mais de le faire au bon moment. Les spécialistes recommandent d'ouvrir largement la fenêtre, de laisser le matelas respirer 30 minutes à 1 heure — idéalement davantage — puis de remettre la couette une fois que les draps sont bien secs. Un geste simple qui coûte peu… et qui peut améliorer l'hygiène de la chambre.Cette idée peut surprendre, car elle va à l'encontre d'un réflexe culturel profondément ancré. Pourtant, la science est claire : l'ordre immédiat n'est pas forcément synonyme de propreté. Le matin, mieux vaut privilégier l'aération plutôt que la rapidité.En somme, si vous voulez un lit plus sain, moins allergène et plus agréable, la meilleure chose à faire dès le réveil est… de ne rien faire du tout.
