Joe continues to trim weight and he's close to his goal. Bob commends him. We open a 6 pack - Heyward's status for Sunday, we examine it from the perspectives of Cam, the Steelers, and fans, are pass rushers becoming overvalued, would Cam get booed, the Jets are down a key player, Konnor Griffin had an injury scare but seems to be alright. Aaron Glenn has been asked frequently about Aaron Rodgers, Don Kelly is basically .500 as the manager and perhaps has done enough to keep his job, Tommy Pham is growing on Joe, why can't instant replay determine clear missed calls in baseball still, Jaylen Warren's extension, the General offers up an Ohtani card. Both Pomp and Joe have bold takes for NFL MVPs - Baker Mayfield and Bo Nix. Defensive coaches ranked the offensive coaches anonymously. Kyle Shanahan is #1. Is Arthur Smith in the same realm as the best guys? He was listed as an honorable mention. Pomp says most of his callers on the Nightly Sports Call have been critical of Cam. Would Cam want to see the Steelers get shredded if he sits out against the Jets? What happens if they win? Joe says there's a lot of cheaters in golf. Dan Zangrilli stops in to discuss Ohtani's place in history, Chandler and Yorke, Triolo, if Tommy Pham should be back, the Framber Valdez and Devers incidents, the excitement about the Pirates in 2026. We review the potential starting players for the Bucs next year. An annoyed Mark Kaboly joins to provide his thoughts on the Heyward situation and how it will end, his Steelers and NFL season predictions (he was rattled by Starkey's inquisitions). Reviewing the early returns for the top college QB prospects. Pomp likes Nussmeier. We all need to see more from Allar, but he looked good vs Nevada. Belichick's debut was a disaster, can Pitt surpass expectations? Joe is working on his greatest Pittsburgh bloopers of the century.

Adam Crowley realized Bob Pompeani on The Pomp and Joe Show does not follow him on X despite following both Dorin Dickerson and Nicholas "Harry" Callas.
The Steelers backup QBs looked good on Saturday. Will Mason Rudolph become the fan's choice once again? Can Skylar Thompson make the team? Joe references Brady's first year in Tampa has a guideline for Rodgers this year. Is Mason Rudolph the best backup in the NFL? We run down some of the other backup QBs. Are people getting ahead of themselves with Joey Porter Jr? We know what Rudolph is at this point. Bob likes what he saw from Arthur Smith. A caller suggests trading Mason to give Howard valuable reps. Tomlin indicated maybe no Rodgers this preseason. Justin Fields looked good in his preseason game. A caller thinks the Steelers are a legit contender and thinks it's up to Rodgers on if he plays in the preseason. Another caller is optimistic about the corners helping the entire defense. Kaleb Johnson wasn't very impressive. Joe gives his take on Cam Heyward holding in and provides examples of the Steelers treating him well over the years. Fans seem to be against him. The lack of postseason success makes it harder to justify big contracts for Heyward and Watt. Cam could've put this out on his podcast but didn't. This news snuck up on everyone. The Steelers have become pushovers. They didn't acquiesce to Bell less than a decade ago. We still don't know what exactly Cam is asking for. Cam's reputation is taking a hit right now, fairly or unfairly. Would fans be happy if he was traded today? Starkey gets excited about a golf course recommendation. Tomlin didn't get any questions because nobody was there seemingly. A caller says Cam should've signed a 1-year deal only. More callers chime in on Cam, with one saying he deserves to seek what he's worth. Bob seems less bothered by Cam than Joe and most fans. Joe heard from Ron yesterday. Pomp did a call in honor of Donny Football. Donny was very excited. Steelers tidbits: why can't you dunk on the goalposts, Broderick Jones looked good, the hawk eye measurement has arrived. Who were some great singers and actors? Ben Cherington had another baffling quote, this time about Bubba Chandler. Could the Pirates bring back Tommy Pham? Why are we still talking about Triolo and Suwinski? Mullys drops in with a special gift to Joe from Oakmont. Joe runs down the performance of several QBs who the Steelers could've taken - Milton, Dart, Sanders, Milroe, Fields, Joe had a crazy sneeze.
The best of The Jeremy and Joe Show from 8/4-8/8 on WGR Sports Radio 550! This weeks edition includes reaction to Bills RB James Cook's decision to start a hold-in, a discussion about the Bills offense being built around Cook's running style, a recap of the first episode of Hard Knocks, comparing Rams RB Kyren Williams and James Cook, and a discussion about who should play in the preseason!
Cam Heyward wants a raise, and he's clearly underpaid right now. So which side are we taking? How about with Boswell? Where do the Pirates and Skenes go next? Jason was the subject of a debate between Poni and Donny on if 93.7 the Fan could beat the Pony League World Series teams. A caller says Cam is destroying the chemistry. Another suggests player incentive bonuses could've solved this. Fans generally seem to think Cam is in the wrong. Ray Fittipaldo joins to give his perspective on Cam's situation, the fan reaction to it, who he's going to be watching in the preseason opener, Will Howard's injury outlook, Roman Wilson's opportunity, the battle at safety. We give numbers both for and against Cam in this argument. A couple of more callers give their perspective. one saying it's a bit embarrassing of a look for Cam. Cam Heyward for Terry McLaurin? That's probably not happening. A caller thinks this could be a scary precedent that will recur every year. The court of public opinion is clearly against Cam. Jeff Hathhorn is in studio to give his thoughts on Heyward and Boswell and if he thinks it'll be resolved, Jeff gives the biggest stories he'll be following in the preseason game, the new look offense, Aaron Rodgers seems like a real person, and Juan Thornhill's comments. KeBryan Hayes got a nice ovation last night in his return. Jason clarifies Zangrilli's comments about Skenes and contract negotiations. The best pitch the team can make to Skenes is to start winning. Bob Walk joins to discuss Skenes and his changeup usage, what failed to click with KeBryan Hayes, the importance of Henry Davis's development, Cruz's development in center. Why is Bubba Chandler still in Triple A? Joe Starkey sent pictures of raisins this morning in a group chat. Jason lists his top 5 players to watch for the Steelers preseason opener - Sawyer, Kaleb Johnson, Roman Wilson, Black/Harmon, Thornhill/Clark. Jason highlights what annoys him the most about modern sports.
Joe recaps Interm Dom's crazy takes from yesterday. The Steelers defense continues to get crazy hype, with Juan Thornhill the latest to add to it. Joe compares the 1976 Steelers defense to this year's team. Archie Manning says his grandson Arch will stay at Texas after this year. Could he do this to avoid the Browns? Is there a scenario that he'd steer his way towards the Steelers? Have the Steelers all lost their minds about this defense? A caller settles the argument about the Steelers defense then vs now. Sean Gentille joins to talk about his trips with Joe, they discuss their dreams. Brian Batko joins to harass Gentille but the conversation shifts to raisins. Joe lists his biggest Pittsburgh villains: 5 Cherington 4 Mendenhall 3 Graham 2 Canada 1 Nutting. AB was an honorable mention. There's a lengthy list of guys who unceremoniously left town. Brian leaves but Sean stays to answer questions about Lemieux's group trying to buy the Pens b back, why did FSG want the team to begin with. Will Rodgers play in the preseason? Gerry Dulac had interesting comments about the Steelers running game. Roman Wilson has drawn some praise from his QB. Are preseason games outdated? We have a list of Steelers who won't be playing on Saturday. We know the Steelers travel plans to Ireland, and it sounds like they are making the same mistake. Today's show has become jam-packed! The other Joe Starkey joins us! He talks about his legendary call of the band on the field, they reminisce about meeting each other, his call of the Miracle on Ice, his time with the Penguins, which sport is his favorite to call and which is the hardest, his time with the Golden State Warriors. What is most memorable call aside from the band on the field, when he called Daryl Sitler's 10-point game and Gale Sayers 6-TD game, how his broadcasting career took off. Tyler Kennedy and Pens legend Darius Kasparaitis stop in studio! Darius always loves hitting guys, his hit on Lindross and goal vs Hasek, how much hatred he elicited, playing with Mario and Jagr, his injuries, his unusual healing ritual, his arrest for jaywalking. Happy birthday Sidney Crosby. TK compares Kasparaitis's physique to Crosby. Would Darius be able to play in today's game? Darius's kids play hockey
